Pre-mixes

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I am still relatively new to Cathe dvd's. I do not understand the premixes. I have skimmed through a couple of them (Drill max and 4DS) and it looks like they are just parts of the workout that are taken out and put together differently (shorter, etc.). Is that all they are? or am I missing something?

I'm new too, but I think your take on premixes is right on: Parts of the workout mixed together in a different fashion.

I've used a couple of premixes lately. The "Step Only" premix on Cardio Fusion was helpful when I wanted to learn the step portion but didn't want to attempt the entire 1hr+ workout. I also used the "Everything But Abs" premix on Bootcamp just because I wanted to keep things moving and save the Ab stuff for the end.

At first I wasn't used to the premix idea, but after using them a couple of times, I can see how helpful they are. It's cool to mix things up and/or have the ability to pick and choose depending on what you need that day.

Yes, that's exactly what premixes are - different ways to make use of the original workout. They can be lots of fun.

I love the premixes, as they can help you learn the programs (e.g., I used the interval-only premix of Imax 3 before attempting the intervals with the blasts; this greatly helped my confidence in completing Imax 3), and I sometimes feel the premixes are like all new programs (e.g., Butts and Guts and Legs and Glutes have premixes that feel very different and keep you from ever getting bored with the programs; different premixes concentrate on legs or glutes).

I also love the premixes when doing weight-lifting rotations. For example, when I'm doing a Slow and Heavy (that is upper body weight rotation), I like to use cardio premixes in Drill Max and Low Impact Circuit, for example. I love those workouts, but I don't want the extra strength training in the circuits when I'm already doing a Slow and Heavy rotation. I hope that makes sense! :)
