Prayers needed for my SIL's father.

Hi Everyone!

You are always so great about sending thoughts and prayers. My SIL's dad was admitted to the hospital last night. He was diagnosed with emphysema not long ago. Last night, however, he could barely breathe that's why he went to the hospital. They found a mass on his lung. Today they're doing a biopsy.

Please send a prayer their way.

Thanks, Dallas

Dallas, consider it done. I can't imagine how frightened they must feel. Please keep us posted.

I'll keep him my prayers as well, Dallas. How is your SIL? She must be frightened.

Thank you ladies!

I haven't talked to me sister in law since yesterday morning, but she wasn't doing too good. She said all she can think about is Peter Jennings and his outcome. She gets frustrated because the drs. told him to stop smoking and he didn't. I can relate to that I went through that with my own mom. She didn't have lung cancer, but I believe that the 40+ years my mom smoked definitely contributed to her illness and eventually her death. My hearts reeling for my SIL right now.

My dh's brother said that he has fluid that has to be removed before they can do the biopsy. I guess they will test that fluid and will give them a good indication if the mass is cancer before the biopsy is even done. It really doesn't sound too good.

Thanks again.

Dallas - I'm so sorry for your family. I just went through this with my dear aunt over the summer. She was a longtime smoker who quit just a few years ago.

In my aunt's case, the fluid test came back clear, the biopsy came back "inconclusive", but she had more tests done and she did have cancer that had already spread. :-( I hope that your SIL's father has a better diagnosis.

I'm sooo sorry, Dallas. Tell your SIL that my thoughts and prayers are with her, her dad and the whole family.

Thank you everyone!

Sadly I have to say my SIL found out her dad has cancer. They won't know anymore until Tuesday. I don't know much about any of this, but she said small cell cancer on the phone. Tuesday they will find out what stage and how he will be treated.

My SIL remains positive, but she says she feels like she's on an emotional roller coaster. I can understand that.

Wendy ~ I'm so glad you quit smoking!

Please keep him in your prayers.

Dallas,

Thank you for the update. I'm sorry you don't have better news to report. I've lost an Aunt and 2 Uncles to cancer, all of whom smoked. It's such a devastating illness. I'll keep them in my prayers for sure. Your SIL is so lucky to have you.
