power 90x

has anyone tried these new workouts yet. i am VERY curious about the plyometric cardio dvd.....1 hour of plyo cardio..sounds awesome!!!}(

I just ordered them after reading quite a few positive reviews about them. I talked myself into them, because I think my 2 teenage boys will get some use out of them as well. The plyometric cardio dvd intriqued my 18 year old.

I am loving P90x!!! The plyometrics workout is really fun. Tony does 4 different exercises (the first 3 are 30 seconds and the last one one minute) and repeats them, then moves on to the next cycle. There are 4(?) sequences. Gosh, sorry I can't remember...but it is a lot of fun. It reminds me of the cardio portions of Bootcamp. Even Tony gets pretty winded after some of the exercises!

I love my power90x.The plyo dvd is great but actually I love the whole
series.I mainly got it for the plyo but quickly fell in love with all the other workouts I sold ab ripper but that was because it is on every wt dvd so I didn't need it.I do the rep range of 8-10 that is what I like ,you pick your reps so with the 8-10 I get a little more rest but am lifting heavier.I sub chest and back exercise.I will do 3 sets of pullups and pushups and do different exercise the rest of the time. But I must admit I like the pullups.

If you go over to the VF forum there is a check-in where many of the workouts are discussed at length. Mostly positive reviews and lots of enthusiasm. I don't know how to do a link, but it's videofitness.com.

Okay, what is "Power 90X" and how can I find out more about them? I'm a loon for anything plyo-cardio.

TIA -

I, too, have been curious about these. What's the Kenpo workout like? Is the music good? Is it possible to purchase the workouts individually yet, or do you have to purchase the whole set?

Thanks,

Tracy

Not that I'm an enabler, but...

I've been following that discussion of P90X at VF with some interest, after watching each of the brief "behind the scenes" planning movies at www.beachbody.com. I wasn't prepared to like this series at all, but I was curious, and me and my wallet are sad to report that the breadth and intensity of the series is pretty darned impressive. I am teetering and what's holding me back is the idea of taking Cathe out of some of my rotation for a while. I'm such a monogamist. :) To see the P90X movies, go to this link and look over on the right column to click on "Project P90X Behind the Scenes": http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=63&itemType=GATEWAY&iMainCat=0&iSubCat=63

So anyhow -- here's where me being an enabler comes in -- I saw some interesting discount scoop at VF today, for those of you who are pondering a purchase.

Beachbody is currently selling P90X for 15% off. (I think this is good through this weekend.) The discount shows up after you put the product in your "Shopping Cart."

And THEN you can ALSO get an additional rebate off your purchase at one of a couple of rebate websites. Right now there's a 20% rebate on BeachBody purchases at www.butterflymall.com or a 15% rebate at www.ebates.com.

Here's how you'd get both the 15% Beachbody discount and the rebate. (Editorial Note: I am paraphrasing here from an explanation at the FIRM Ya-Yas site, which I linked to through VF. Don't ask :), just trust me -- I've done the homework here for ya. ;-))

First, go to www.beachbody.com and place P90X in your shopping cart.

Second, immediately, in the SAME browser window, put in the web address and go to the rebate site of your choice. Sign up there for your free rebate account.

Third, look up at the top of the site's home page and you'll see a button that says "All Merchants" (at butterfly.com) or "All Stores" (at ebates.com). Click on that button.

Fourth, go to the "B"s and find Beachbody. Click on the link to Beachbody's web page, and that page will open up again in your browser, but this time you'll see the banner for your selected rebate site still sitting across the top of your screen.

Fifth, now that you're back at the Beachbody site, click on "Shopping Cart" and your discounted purchase should still be in there.

Last, complete your purchase. You'll receive the 15% discount from Beachbody AND you'll receive your rebate.

Okay, who's gonna cave???? :)

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

Kathy S - would you mind inaugurating the Power 90X series and then reporting back to us intensity bunnies? I too am absolutely loath to commit any Cathe Adultery whatsoever, but those plyo workouts look interesting.

Thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction to the websites!

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

well i ended up splitting a power 90x order with another vf'er. so i will let ya know how the cardio's are!!:)

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

Annette ol' buddy ol' pal, lemme get this straight -- thou wouldst have me commit Cathe Adultery so that thou canst know how it feels???

Did I TRANSLATE that accurately, buddy?? ;-)

I'm weenie-ing out with you for the time being. Gotta see more G2 on these tapes before I become so publicly unfaithful. For some reason I don't count buying the Tracie Longs as an act of unfaithfulness, I guess because I've done FIRM stuff for years. Buying a "FIRM alum" tape while being a Cathe monogamist feels like staying friends with an old boyfriend after getting engaged to the new guy. But now this Beachbody-Tony Horton thing -- that'd be like flirting ... or worse... post-engagement. ;-)

I'm reading the check-in threads at VF, though, and there are definitely some intensity bunnies over there. Hippity hop on over and lurk with me. :)

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

I struggled with the whole "unfaithful" issue and then decided that every time I try something new, it makes me appreciate Cathe even more! And if I don't care for these videos, they won't go to waste, because my 2 boys will use them. Do I sound like a guilty adulterer or what?!

Margie
An adoring Cathe fan!

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

From the website:

"This is going to be the program that separates the pack. It's for people who have climbed the first mountain and want more—a lot more, and who aren't afraid to do what it takes to get there."

I'm a sucker for this kind of propaganda.

RE: Not that I'm an enabler, but...

I ditched my current Cathe rotation for P90X and I have no regrets at all. :) If you guys are looking to take it up a notch or two, fitness wise, I highly recommend this series. It is TOUGH!

It's hard to pick a favorite because all of the workouts that I have done to date are all fantastic. The workout that is the most unique is Core Synergistics. The only other workout that is a bit similar to this workout is Tracie's Core workout.

The production value and music in this series is so much better than the other Beach Body products. Even though I love SS, faults and all, P90X is the real thing. :)

I've done the same thing. I just started this week. All I can say is these are TOUGH workouts! They will definitely take your fitness level up another notch. You are workin' out with the guys here. And the girls in these workouts are Cathe tough. You will see no mombo cha cha type stuff in these workouts.

They are extremley well thought out and the production is great. (sorry no premixes here). The music is great and I was really impressed with the books they sent. These are in binders with thick nice paper, not the little pamphlets we usually see with some workouts. They decribe every workout in detail, the whole workout is written down for you, plus they give you workout sheets to write down your weights and reps. Also they show you how to use the bands in all the weight workouts (great for traveling when you can't use dumbells or DVD's). What's great about the weight workouts is, you have a set time, not reps or weights. You can go heavy for 8 to 10 reps for muscle building or lighter for 12 to 15 reps for stength and endurance with in that time frame. So basically you can use them different ways to fit your goals. The pull ups will put you in a whole new world of stength.

I think the nutrition plan goes well with the rotation. The supplements are the normal supplements a highly active person or athlete would use. Vitamins, recovery drink, protien.
You follow a 50-30-20 for the first month.....40-40-20 the second month and a 20-60-20 the last month. That's protien-carbs-fat.

Aquajock- The day I did plyometrics I thought..."I'm sure this is the type of workout Aquajock dreams of" LOL! I aslo concider this a leg work out concidering how my legs and glutes felt the next few days
