poor posture & headaches

It seems I have been getting headaches alot lately, almost daily. I have terrible posture, do you think this could be part of it?

I do know when I eat to much sugar that will give me headaches so I tend to stay away from sweets etc. Since the holidays I have been having a little bit of a hard time getting back on track. So that could be part of it. My sleeping position also needs motifying - side sleeper all contorted like a pretzel. I seem to get a knot in my neck.

Anyway I'm working on the posture but boy it is a hard habit to break!! :(

I don't know what could be causing yours. There are several causes for chronic headaches. Hormones, and bad eating can have an effect on hormones. Neck injury or pulled muscle. You could need chiropractic care.

I'll tell you my experience and see if it fits with what is going on with you.

I get more frequent migraines when I'm eating crappy food.
There was a time I was getting headaches every single day. I went to a migraine specialist and found out my daily headaches were rebound headaches from taking excedrin everyday. I had to detox off the excedrin and my daily headaches subsided.

I hope you can resolve this quickly. I know it's not fun having headaches:(

Major chronic headache sufferrer over here!! I have battled with headaches for years, have gone to 6 different docs, taken 21 different meds, tried accupuncture, eliminating foods and still can't figure it out. I'm taking a new med for the pain that helps, but wonder if I am getting rebound headaches the next day.
The chiropractor that I WAS seeing told me to try sleeping with a pillow between my knees for better spine alignment. (on your side with knees bent) Maybe that would help you.

Sorry, I am no help, but I do understand your pain!:(

Gin,

I can't tell you how many doctors and medication I went through before I found the answer.
I went to an allergist, chiropractic treatments for a full year, neurologist, internal medical doctor. I can't list all the drugs I tried with no relief.

It wasn't until I sought out a real migraine specialist. I was lucky enough to find one in my area. Only one. All this doctor does is research headaches.
There are so many different types of headaches. Mine were rebound from over medicating.

I had spent years suffering and my migraine doctor resolved my problem in less than 2 weeks.
My advice to anyone suffering chronic headaches is to find a headache specialist.

My migraines were caused by too much thyroid medication. They were so bad, I was seeing double. How weird is that? The doctor dropped the dosage, and they went away.

Like others have said, there are so many reasons.
For me, posture and sleeping is one of them. I hold nearly all of my tension in my neck and shoulders. So much so, that after my first visit with my napropath years ago, I walked out of his office 2" TALLER than I was when I walked in. Everything had compressed, in my neck and was causing constant pressure and tension on the nerves near the base of my skull.

My posture is another problem, and in large part is due to my allergies. (My chiropractor helped to sort this one out.) My shoulders round forward. It's in part from labored breathing due to asthma and congestion. The rounded shoulders cause my neck to shift in a way that locks up the vertebrae midway down. Better posture has helped this immensely, but I still need to go for regular adjustments.

I also get hormonal migraines.

So the list could go on and on. But your sleeping and daily posture could be it.
For sleeping, I LOVE the Tempurpedic neck pillow. It's been a lifesaver to eliminate the regular pinched nerves I used to wake up with!
