Hi there, can someone help me with some advice???? Last year I got pregnant and at the time weighed 191 pounds (am 5’9). I had my daughter on November 8, and I weighed in at a hefty 229 lbs. Well through watching what I eat and consistently doing workouts that include The Firm, Turbo Jam, Tae Bo, Denise Austin, Cathy Smith and others…I have brought my weight down to 170…good, considering it was 21 pounds less than pre pregnancy but still have about 15 more pounds to go to be at a weight that is good for my size and that I can maintain without being in starvation mode. Anyway, so as you may have guessed, the scale has stalled out on me the last 6 weeks and has not budged up or down one minuscule inch…whether I eat perfectly or terribly, whether I work out or not….doesn’t budge. So I brought out my Cathe Step Blast tape I bought off this website a couple years ago (that I promptly shelved because it was WAY TOO HARD). So I have realized that I can actually do the tape now, the whole tape!!! YEAH!!! So I wanted to get some more Cathe tapes in an effort to really lose that last 15!!! Oddly enough I want to lose this weight to get pregnant again, but want to be in a much better place this time around!!!!! Anyway, someone please guide me towards the tapes that will really enable me to get that scale moving again. I think the rest of my tapes (The Firm, Turbo Jam) have been really great….but my body is just “used” to them. I need a kickstart…..ESPECIALLY at this time of the year before the scale moves in the WRONG direction!!!! I have read elsewhere on this site that the CTX ones are great?? Please HELP. I don’t have tons of time to work out either, usually just between 5:00-6:00 a.m because I have 2 kids and a husband and a full time job and no maid!!! HAHA!!!

Thanks for your help!!!

For time reasons, I like CTX or Timesaver. You can either do one or several of the workouts in a session.

I think CTX would be great for you. There's lots of variety, and if you have a bit more time, you can do two workouts. Also, there are lots of CTX rotations out there:)

I love Rythmic Step, I think it's a really fun workout and it's about an hour long, it's similar to Step Blast. Those 2 are my favorites. From the CTX series I really like Step & Intervals, and All Step, they are fun as well, but are shorter. The CTX series will also have some weight lifting if you are interested in that.
Good luck!

I love Kick, Punch & Crunch. It's 70 minutes (which includes an abs segment) but if I'm just adding on I do either the kicking & punching or the cardio conditioning. Each with warm-up/stretch is probably about 35 minutes, both are effective calorie burners. Or sometimes I'll start from the beginning (with the cardio conditioning) and do as many kick/punch segments as time allows. Plus you get Legs & Glutes and some good premixes. KPC works your upper body nicely.

I second the emotion on CTX double-DVD and the Timesaver DVD. Considering your time constraints, and the variety and flexibility of each of these productions, these would IMHO be your best next step. The way they are produced, getting in an entire workout in about an hour, and getting in cardio and complete strength training each week if you do them as produced, makes getting in a well-rounded program a no-brainer. You can start to fiddle with things after you've gotten familiar with the workouts and want to make your own modifications.

Oh, ladies, who are we kidding - just whip out the VISA or write a check against the equity in your house and buy 'em all! :p :p :p

I'm going to be the dissenter to not recommend CTX. Yes, it's great, but I am going to recommend something different. I, too, was "stalled". I just couldn't lose anymore weight, so I decided to get drastic and go totally in a different direction from what I was doing about 3 weeks ago.......and it's working.

1. Strength train. And I mean REALLY strength train. I'm rotating the Gym Style DVD's and do all three at least once a week. The way I rotate them, I'm doing one or two of them twice a week. After my GS workout, I will do 20-30 minutes of cardio. Step Blast works great, but I really like Lowmax. Adding some cardio on with my strength training gives me a bonus burn that seems to be shedding the fat and toning me up -- almost like a circuit without going back and forth between cardio and weights. Once a week, I do Imax2. My goal is to start incorporating a circuit workout such as Cardio and Weights once or twice a week because I hear that circuits are a great way to burn calories and trim down (despite the fact that I've never really liked circuits). I end up working out an hour and fifteen or thirty minutes a night, but it's working! I've lost 3 pounds in the past two weeks and someone asked me today, "Are you losing weight?"

So, here's my recommendation: Buy all 3 GS's and Lowmax to start. Then, buy the new Drill Max and Low Impact Circuit coming out this month. After that, I'd recommend the S&H series, Imax 2, and Cardio and Weights.

2. EAT MORE! As you strength train, you're building a "bigger engine" in your body and a bigger engine needs more fuel! Many people who fail at losing weight while engaging in a strong exercise regimen, fail because they aren't getting enough fuel into their body. Thus, the body can't burn fat efficiently because it doesn't have enough energy. I have really increased my protein intake in the past few weeks - chicken, turkey, lean ground beef and steak, almonds, and beans. I get a good amount of carbs, which is an instant energy source, but not too much. I've also started eating a homemade vegetable stir-fry on a regular basis that really seems to work wonders! I've cut the bananas, which seem to hinder my weight loss ability for some reason. When I want fruit, I eat berries.

3. WATER WATER WATER! Cut the sodas (diet or otherwise) and caffeine out of you diet.

4. Get rid of that one "indulgence" food. Mine was ice cream. It's gone now, and I'm doing much better - feeling much better, too.

WOW! Thank you so much for all that info!! I just received IMAX2/Cardio and Weights in the mail along with Body Max yesterday. 2 days ago I went ahead and ordered the CTX series, so I guess I will be mortgaging my house today and going ahead to order the other DVD's suggested!! Thanks so much for all the helpful comments. I did Imax 2 this morning, and in 2 words "HOLY SHNIKIES"!!!!! I did it though...the whole thing! All the way through and was proud of myself, but dear lord....that Interval 9.....uhm it isn't even that long and I was like "how many more seconds????" HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
Jules!!!!:D

I did Imax 2 last night. For some bizarre reason, my brain insists on telling me that Imax 2 is an easy workout. Clearly, my brain is not remembering interval 9. "How many more plie jacks? *whimpers*"
