Pet peeve about DH

Kate, where shall I begin??? :7 Oh wait, you said "irrational". All of mine are perfectly rational. :7

>Oh and see... my pet peeve is the opposite. DH will turn off
>a light while I'm using it because he's so concerned
>about energy savings. Say I'll go into the kitchen at night
>to get something and have to go out of the room for a second
>but I'm not finished getting my food. I'll come back and all
>the lights will be off. Now mind you, I was only gone about
>30 seconds, but he still managed to get in there and turn the
>lights off before I could get back! HA!

OH MY GOD!! Same thing with me! I'll actually be IN a room and my SO will come and turn off the light--he complains all the time that I'M the reason why the electricity bill is so high. It really ircks me. I'm really good about turning off the lights when I'm not in a room--but come on! If I'm doing something in the living room don't come in and turn off the light, ya dope!

Fun Thread!

ok i'll play - When my DH drives me nuts about something and I confront him about, for some reason he thinks iam 'cute' when I get mad,he SMILES while im pointing my finger and yapping!(but im totally serious)x(

so in the end,we end up laughing about it! until he does it agian, lol

I get legendary PMS. Anyone who knows me even a little bit knows this. My SO thinks it's hilarious to tease me when I have PMS. I think maybe he has a death wish, because one of these days.....x(

Apart from that, he's pretty good.

These are so funny, yet my DH probably does almost nearly all of these.

In fact, there is still a wad of paper towels (yes he is the king of paper towels) sitting on the counter from about 4 nights ago. And the coffee grinds all over the kitchen counter. Sometimes I just wait to see how long it will take for him to clean up after himself.

Then there's the possibly finishing 1/2 a project per year. Searching for hot wheels is much more important. Hits the stores every day while driving around for work - even wants to stop at Walmart at midnight after hockey games - who needs to sleep?

I just laugh it off since laughter is the best medicine :7

HA HA,...I am laughing b/c I was working this morning at home and BF was looking through a coupon book, reading every single coupon in the book out loud. I wanted to lunge at him!

My DH likes to leave clothes on the floor, which I find and put in the wash. Then he complains when he can't find them on the floor where he left them--saying, "but they weren't dirty!" I answer, "If I find stuff on the floor I assume it's dirty." He also gets annoyed when I put dishes away that he is still using (usually glasses or coffee mugs).

I'm finally learning (after 8 1/2 years of marriage) to ask him if stuff is dirty or not.

It's also irritating when he wants to interrupt my Cathe forum time by making me watch some football play or listen to him read from the Wall Street Journal. Ugh.

I've got a list but here are the first two that popped into my head.

1. My DH eats a bowl of Life cereal EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! He eats it standing up while watching TV wherever I am, either the family room or the bedroom, and the sound he makes while slurping the milk drives me up the wall!!

2. My DH flosses his teeth while standing and watching the TV in our bedroom EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! His teeth are close together and he has to work to get the floss in there. The snapping sound it makes when it pops out from between his teeth drives me up the wall!!

Am I petty or what?

No, Elaine, you are not petty. That would drive me nuts, too. I think flossing should be done in the bathroom. Eating in the livingroom while watching TV, while standing would drive me absolutely crazy!

My DH hangs his hooded sweatshirts on the doorstop of our entry in from the garage. It drives me crazy - I always tell him, "Why do your hang your coats there, it's not a closet or anything." Well, he just keeps doing it. His logic is that way he won't forget it in the morning.

When our garbage can gets full (we have an industsrial size one, since we have so many kids), I will mention the junk is getting full - and he will just go and push it down - he will do that until, I can't take it anymore - then, it is so tight in the can and heavy, I can barely get it out, much less tie the bag up!

Of course, he is a typical guy. He cannot watch TV more than 5 minutes - without changing the channel. He will go back and forth to 3, 4 or 5 games (hockey, football, baseball, basketball, and NASCAR). I know they invented the remote for men!

<Hangs head in shame.> I've been reading this thread with a lot of chuckles, but I have to admit Cheryl, that I do this too. Esp when there is that overlap of baseball and football seasons - like the months of September and October. I love to watch both of those pro sports on TV and can never make up my mind which I'd rather watch - so I flip. (I think it actually drives my DH nuts - HA!)

>Here's mine: when my DH decides he's going to "tidy up," and
>shoves my things in places I can't find them, then he forgets
>where he puts them. Yesterday, I found my purse shoved under
>some junk in the office closet, after I searched throughout
>the house for it. It drives my DDs nuts, too.

My DH does this too! Also, he's rarely in the kitchen, but when he's there - no matter what I'm doing he seems to find an overwhelming need to be IN THE EXACT SAME SPACE! Moving to another location to do something else in the kitchen doesn't work - before I know it THERE HE IS AGAIN!

This post is hilarious. I'm glad to see that others' SO behave like mine. :)

You poor thing! I have a similar problem. My DH likes to (attempt to) sing in the car and the problem is, he can't sing at all (not that I'm ready for american idol because I'm totally not) but he just hum/sings completely off key and about two lyrics behind the actual song. I get so frustrated I'll say "are you singing?" He knows that means, hush.

DH has the memory of a gnat. I sometimes find it tiring to ALWAYS have to keep up with the calendar of our lives.

I, of course, am perfect.

What?!?

Y'all are cracking me up with this thread. My DH does almost all of these. Really, the only ones he's not guilty of are: turning off the lights while I'm using them and flossing outside of the bathroom as that would require flossing in the first place!

As if I didn't have enough I'll add two more:

1. We have a 12 piece setting of our flatware. He refuses to eat a bowl of ice cream so he'll get a spoon out, get a bite of ice cream and put it in the sink. Then 10 minutes later get another spoon, get a bite and put it in the sink. Repeat this 10 more times and 12 spoons in the sink (note NOT in the dishwasher!) and no spoons left in the drawer. I've asked him more times than I can count to place the first spoon on a paper towel and REUSE it or get a bowl out and go to town! I'm growing tired of using the sugar spoon or serving spoons for my cereal in the morning. x(

2. As with the aforementioned spoons, he leaves almost everything in the sink (if it makes it to the sink at all!). After 2 or 3 days I'll finally ask him to put his dishes in the dishwasher so I can run it. Well then comes "Those aren't all MY dishes". Uh, YES THEY ARE!!

Even with his singing, light leaving on, pushing the trash down instead of taking it out, spoon hording, dish leaving, dirty clothes flinging, loud TV watching, no appointment/birthday remembering I still love him. But he does drive me absolutely bonkers sometimes!!
