Good morning,

Hope to get a leg workout in today. It's raining here, so a good day for a memorial service.

Valerie, I hope your new rack works out. Do you carry all 4 bikes with you to Mt?

Diane Sue, How was the family dinner? Are you getting together today as well for your usual Sunday dinner?

Carolyn, John's Mom was from Louisiana so he had a lot of okra growing up. I don't think I have ever felt the need to exercise...LOL...I usually have to force myself to do it.

A workout, then the memorial service...I hope it stops raining for that.

Take care,

Deb, dinner was enjoyable and we had a nice visit. Yes, today is family brunch and my daughters birthday along with my older saughters anniversary. We will all be going to my daughters house. I hope you get your leg workout in.

Hello Strong Ladies. Today is my rest day and I am enjoying the slow pace. It's nice to have a relaxing couple of days with my husband home. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Good afternoon ladies!

Been keeping up with P90x plus adding in some bounce and barre when I can. Today was a really great exercise day. My husband is away for the weekend at his 40th class reunion so I have the opportunity to workout as long as I want. Lol! Today I did 2 lower body barre targets. One was SBF advanced lower body and the other was cathe's LBB. I then did Power Jump 46 then ran 2 miles with GiGi. It is rainy here but that did not stop our run. She was cute in the rain. We ran yesterday too and in the morning my son's GF was over so we did a couple of Bellicon Bounces then we left for several hours for some girls shopping and fun. It was a really enjoyable day.

Deb..hope you get your leg work in. Funny I am one of those people that loves to workout. Most feel like it is a chore. Not me! Rainy and cool here today. Sad to know summer is gone.

Carolyn...enjoy your time with your husband. Bob left Friday and will be home tomorrow. I was thinking it would be great to be home alone and get some chores done. But I miss him and glad he is home tomorrow. As you can tell from my post to Deb...I always feel the need to workout. :)

Judy...great workout week. My conference is the 16 thur the 19th. Last week and this coming week is the most hectic and very stressful. I am meeting a coworker of mine at the office tomorrow to finalize some things. We can't afford missing a day due to the holiday. Only working 4 hours then heading to the airport to pick Bob up. Still stinks to have to go in.

Diane Sue...enjoy your family day. I love that you have such a close family. It is very nice. Working out really calms me especially during this time of year. I can't wait for it to be over!

Valerie...you have amazing endurance!!!! Glad you are enjoying your new car.

Have a great night all!

Good morning!. I did High reps upper and abs yesterday. funny because I loaded the Ramped up disk, looked at the premixes and realized I needed to do the whole thing or break up with two shorter segments. I had 45 min so I stuck High reps in instead and charged through it. DH had not used the gym and all my weights and bar were ready to go from my previous time, so it went quickly . then this morning we did a 25 mile road ride. .

Deb we probably will take only 2 bikes with us. there is an extension that can be added to the rack (don't have it yet) but it makes for a very extended platform in the rear of the car. not sure it looks like something I want to do. in theory we could put the road bikes on the roof to travel. Roof racks are pretty unforgiving though, if you forget the bikes are up there and pull into the garage!! yes, I know someone who did that. would be easy to forget... you've driven a long way, you're tired, used to pulling into the garage and... SCRUNCH... and that's all she wrote!

Lori my endurance is limited to outdoor activities. I will ride or hike for a long time, but for indoor workouts, I am done after an hour. once I get going, I usually enjoy a workout, but honestly, dread of how unpleasant it will be if I don't keep it up regularly is a big "driver" for me.

I envy you guys with close family ties. I never had that and never will. my family doesn't get along very well, to say the least. so appreciate it if you have it. DH's family is better than mine. mine could be made into a TV series .

Today was a rest day and family time. I am so happy because I found what happened to my vet that I normally saw when we went to the clinic. I don't know if I mentioned it but the last two times I went in my vet wasn't there, I saw someone else. I was not pleased. The last one was a young girl that was so obviously new and I felt a bit timid. Even trimming Gerties claws. She was so slow and Gertie tried to hide behind me. and squeeze up against me. She put a muzzle on her because it might "calm her" Gertie was jumping all over trying to shake it off. It took her a bit to realize when she was done that she still hadn't taken off the muzzle. I had been contemplating changing after that. Gertie is not aggressive at all like some dogs. She is generally very trusting. Anyway, my daughter said that my original vet who lives across the street from her was temporarily seeing some patients from his house and was opening up a new office soon. It is open now and a bit closer to me. He has so many great reviews and people following him. I checked out his facebook page today. He opened in a small new strip mall at the edge of the city.
When we were done with family brunch and birthdays we drove by our old house reminiscing with my niece and my husband mentioned Hobie the buffalo. I asked him about the picture as I couldn't find it and he says he has it, so I told him to e mail it to me. I will have to remind him.

Carolyn, I am enjoying my weekend and rest too. Not sure if I will get my workout in tomorrow. It is supposed to be SS Total Body and I have to see how it goes.

Lori, I love to workout too. It is something I want to do. There will be days when I am tired it takes a bit to decide what to do. I do prefer the days when I am not rushed and no interruptions though. I don't like being rushed to get done. I am always excited when I have something new planned to do. Doing something you like is probably great for the stressful days. I went with my husband to his class reunion when he went. I bet you miss yours. Our family had a great time and you will usually find a unified effort putting together brunch in the kitchen and lots of teasing and chatter. It is lots of fun. I hope the conferences goes well for you next week.

Valerie, I could see someone driving into the garage forgetting the bicycles are there. It would probably be something that would happen to me. Some people have no connection at all with their families. You seem to have a bit of connection. You help your sister out. We are not all raised the same way. I grew up with close family as a child, always large family gatherings. The same with my husband. My family on my Dad's side had a large family reunion and they had to rent the county fairgrounds building to hold it because we had so many relatives there. My husband helped take pictures. I am lucky that my family all lives close. I think it is great that you and your husband have a great bond in love for your outdoor activities, and everything set just right with equipment and plans. That is something to hold onto.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did S&S PHA Training, Lower Body premix. This is where you do the 6 lower body exercises 2 times. It was pretty tough, but felt good. My legs are feeling it today. :)

Carolyn, hope you had a nice relaxing rest day.

Lori, great workouts! How is Gigi doing with running? She is on leash correct? I feel the same when John does a fishing trip...it is nice the first day, having the house to myself, no schedule etc, but then by day 2 I am looking forward to him coming back. I am sure your conference will run smoothly since you are an "old hat" at doing these.

Valerie, I have seen people with those extended bike carriers, and they do come out pretty far. I would be worried about backing up with the car. I wonder if it affects the rear back up camera.

Diane Sue, that's great that you will be able to see the vet you like again. I have followed my vet to 2 different locations after he left the original one he had been in.

Have a great holiday!

My kitty is having problems. he peed in the bed last night, for no reason. he is having a mechanical problem with hind legs some days more than others. I am afraid he is not going to be with us much longer. incontinence would be hard to work around for long. he is around 15yo. this is so hard. every time I go thru this I swear I won't get another pet. sorry to being up an unpleasant topic but I am hoping if I talk about it I can get thru it.

We have seen big platform racks that people use to carry motorcycles and atv's. the Thule '2-bike" rack is not that large but the extension to carry 4 bikes is big. never thought about it blocking a back up camera. not sure where the camera lens is. . will see how we like the new one. was hoping we'd get it tomorrow but so far looks like Thursday.

Deb strong work getting back at it. it is hard to re start after a long unwanted break like that, since you almost certainly will get sore spots. I swear, dread of DOMS makes me stick to working out when I'd rather not. biking does not make me sore, but hiking sure can. we are stuck in a very unpleasant weather pattern again. hot and smoky. this is not how summers were 40 years ago. now it seems like every year is fires everywhere, smoke, hot and dry, rather than aug and sept being the premier times to hike. there are fires all over the place again this year and many in inaccessible places that will need to burn out by themselves or go out when fall rains start up.

Valerie, so sorry to hear about your kitty...:(. Could it be a bladder infection that could be cleared up with anti-biotics?

Today I did Jessica Smith's Ready, Set, Go (HiiT walk) for 31 minutes. Calories burned 217, average heart rate 124, and maximum heart rate 151. After that I did Core Max Stability Ball Abs.

Judy, you mentioned Core Max which made me want to do it again. I also saw that Cathe included it in the September rotation.

Deb, it's great that you were able to do a workout. PHA is a tough one to start with. What rotation are you doing?

Valerie, so sorry to hear about your kitty. I think that the idea of starting over makes me stick to working out also. It's easier to keep going than to start over. I have learned to do what I can and not feel compelled to match the trainer. It's more enjoyable that way. My goal is to keep moving and to slow down the aging process.

Diane Sue, having fame around is definitely a blessing. My family does not live near but we still manage to be close. We have the normal amount of friction and sometimes we fight, but they are wonderful.

Lori, too bad about having to work this morning. I'm sure that you will do a fantastic job with the conference.

Caitlin, I hope you are doing well.

Deb, it could be... but he is getting frail. it happens so fast in animals,. I am going to try to get him in tomorrow but I think we are getting to the end of the road. I hate this. he is such a sweet little guy. we are not letting him out today because he seems shaky. I am hoping it is a simple infection but given his age I don't think so.

Valerie, I am so sorry about your kitty :( I hope it's just an infection and that he can recover. It's so hard to lose them ((hugs))

Thank you so much. DH and I have had the talk and will take him in tomorrow to be checked. I think he probably has spinal stenosis because he is losing muscle in his hind legs and is shaky, and I think that was a loss of bladder control last night. he seems not to be pooping right either. I hope it's a bladder infection but I don't think so. why oh why does this always happen on holiday weekends? in just a few days he has gone from frail but normal to very shaky.

Today I just did Total Body Giant sets which is my my rotation for today. No extras. This was 53 minutes, 286 calories. I used the calorie burn that I came up with my calorie calculater and map my fitness . My Fit Bit Blaze seems off a lot lately and right now my sleep tracker is not fully functional. It gives the time awake and asleep but quit the time in rem, deep, and light with percentages. It gave me 131 calories. I don't get it sometimes. The battery is fully charged. I tried shutting it all down and rebooting it. I did not heavy up much on the workout today as I have Ripped with Hiit weights this week and tomorrow is legs.

Deb, that is a good premix. I always feel much more worked afterward.

Valerie, I am so sorry about your cat. Maybe it is kidneys or or something. My dog Mudd did that sleeping in her crate for awhile.. THe vet gave her medicine and it stopped. I know when they get old though things just quit working so well. It is hard watching our pets when they are not well.

Carolyn, I have always kept in touch with my brothers and aunts and other family with occasional visits and through calls and facebook. It is nice to be able to keep in touch with them all. Of course there is little bits of bickering at times. You can do that with friends as well, but it never amounts to anything. Always forgiving.

had more time today so did Ramped upper body. it is the one I have to turn off the audio on. can't stand the music but the workout is good. I did not change weight much even though I haven't done it in quite a while. I took my 10 lb weights to MT and have been using either 8's or 12's but my 12's are gray metal and slippery. it was a factor on this workout because 10's would have been better. overhead extension moves are tricky with slippery metal. neoprene coated ones don't clank and slip against each other.

I'm afraid it has devolved to loud constant arguing or just not speaking with my family. I talk to my sister but sometimes that is trying. she has 5 broken teeth from falling when she has seizures and no plans to get anything fixed. and that is just what she has told me about! instead she is worrying about getting her dogs teeth cleaned. I know dental care is extremely expensive these days but you can't let things like that go! bad dentition contributes to all kinds of other health problems. I suggested she go to the dental school since she has time... work is done by dental students... and it is less expensive half price. sent her the information. then she complained its in a rough neighborhood. yipes. you don't get concierge care if you have no money, not in this country anyway. you can't worry about getting your dogs teeth cleaned if your own teeth are falling out of your head.

it is truly horrifying what people without decent insurance live thru. she was basically 'working poor". never could get ahead, no savings, one thing after another. this is a rich country, we should treat our citizens better. no one should be walking around with 5 broken and probably decayed teeth because they can't afford care. there should be affordable options. we watched a movie last night, Michael moore, "what country to invade next". it is stunning what we think is "normal" and what other countries provide for their citizens. we are not so great.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did ICE MM Chest, premix with 4 rounds. Wow that was tough! I started out with 12's which is what Cathe was using, and the first and second rounds went okay. Then by the third, I had to drop to 10''s and by the 4th, down to 8's.

Valerie, I hope you get good news at the vet, and it is something that can be treated. Maybe the infection, if it is one has made him weak and shaky. It is so heart breaking, having to face that decision. Have you tried workout gloves for those slippery weights? I use them all the time, even with workouts that use light ones. Can your sister get on Medicaid?

Carolyn, I am trying a "one body part per day" rotation, using the MM's and Blizzard Blasts. I want to build my chest, biceps and triceps, so for those I am doing the MM's premixes with 4 rounds. The others I am using with the Blizard Blasts for cardio. I found a Jessica Smith DVD yesterday that I forgot I had. May try to work something from that in as well.

Diane Sue, too many electronic gadgets to go haywire right? Drives me crazy. LOL. Kylee is on medication too, for a bladder leak....once she was on that it didn't happen again. It is a type of hormone.

A workout, then a class with Kylee at noon. The last one before I show her this weekend...:)

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Sunday I did STS Meso 2 Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. Yesterday I did STS Meso 2 Legs. The leg workout was a little tough on my low back so I may need to modify the STS leg workouts. I might sub something else for those. I do love the STS upper body workouts. We didn't get any biking in this weekend. Chris was doing projects around the condo and then yesterday, when we could have gone, it started raining. We had storms all afternoon and most of the evening.

Deb-that sounds like a great rotation! I love the MM's, and the 4 round premixes are perfect!

Valerie-I'm thinking of you today and hoping you get good news from the vet.

Diane Sue-great job with your rotation!

Carolyn-I love Jessica Smith's workouts for active rest weeks. Core Max was the first Cathe DVD I purchased, in 2013. It's such a great core workout. I usually do the no equipment one, but I need to try the other ones too.

Lori-I have always loved to workout too. It's just something that has meant so much to me through the years and I have gotten so much enjoyment out of it.

Thank you I will try to get him in and checked this afternoon. This morning I have a service guy doing a upgraded drain on my dishwasher and DH has dental spots. No new kitty problems yesterday.

My 12 lb ones are all metal. and when I lower them behind my head they wedge together, slip against each other. we had a whole set of these once but DH gave most of them away. I duct taped the handles because they had a funny smell. I use lifting gloves always. For all moves where they don't touch they are fine but when they touch , they clank and slip All my other ones are rubber or neoprene coated. moves where the dumbbells are apart are fine, but when they are close together, they don't work too well.

naturally, Puss seems better today. not perfect but more stable. I will still get him in and checked asap. today after a 3 day weekend, the vet might be totally slammed, so I will call & see what they can do.
coremax was my first AB workout disk. I did it too much and got tired of it especially those blasted levitation holds that I never could do at all. I like it when an ab workout is part of a disk and follows the main workout, and right now I like the High reps one.

Today I did a premix from Step Blast. I did all three combinations, 1 round of the finished product and one blast for 46 minutes 336 calories burned. Average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 146.

Judy, I agree that JS is great for active recovery. It's just enough of a workout without being too intense. Core Max is a good Ab workout that I used a lot before I got Ab Circuits. I was happy to get back to it. I am very careful with the deadlifts in the STS workouts. I am not trying to get much heavier than I am and I don't go down below my knees. That seems to be best for my low back.

Deb, that sounds like a good rotation for you. You might try the JS or KCM's Start Here for cardio.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

Today's workout was Ripped with Hiit Legs, 42 minutes, 265 calories, heart rate 120 average, 159 max. That is all I did because I wanted to clean floors and go with my daughter and grandchildren to the library. The youngest had a play and story time and we checked out books and came back to have lunch together. My legs were still sore from yesterday's Total Body Giant set so some exercises I did not go heavier on. Tomorrow is an upper workout so my legs can get a rest other than I may add a bit of cardio on to it. I found a post on the Fit Bit communities by the Fit Bit staff and they are working on the problem. They say it is not everyone's Fit Bit, but it is them and a bug that is in their system that they are working on. I wondered if it was something they did trying to get ready to launch their new Fit Bit that they are taking pre-orders for. There was over 400 complaints on their community site for the same thing.
Weights today
squats 20's x 24 reps/ squat digs
plie squats 35# x 16 reps/ plie jacks
static lunge right side 25's x 16 reps/ split jumps 24 reps
static lunge left side 25's/ split jumps 24 reps
squats 25's x 24 reps /pop squats 24 reps Cathe's counts I count 32?? maybe I am doing it different
plie squats 40# x 16 reps / narrow plie touch down jacks 24 reps
wood chop side lunge 10# x 24 reps
explosive side lunge 12# by 20 reps
cross back lunge 15# X 40 reps/ lateral skates 32 reps
low pulse lunges 20# x 20 reps/power circle scissors 32 reps
dead lift 30's x 16 reps/ snow angel jacks 20 reps
Dead lift wide stance 30's x 16 reps /frog jumps and quarter turns 10
walking lunges 15's 24 / scissor, squat wide tuck jumps

Valerie, sometimes on the overhead moves like pull overs and triceps extensions that Cathe has started using two dumbbells to do, I use one heavier dumbbell, like a 25# in place of the two 12's. I do not like trying to hold two together very much. I just figured the change was more for those who do not have heavier increments so you don't have to go get more weights out. I remember my parents using a dental school at one time. It wasn't so nice, but it got the work done. I remember being there as a teen and it was sort of like bathroom stalls for dental work. Dental work is costly even with insurance. I may be doing wrong but I have never taken my dogs for teeth cleaning. I have the vets inspect their teeth. I have had them comment on how clean they are and mention that I must be providing raw hide and stuff to chew on. I also let them chew ice. I am sure dogs in nature never had to have their teeth cleaned. They make stuff for brushing and dental treats. So she is taking better care of her dog than herself? The only way I would take my dog for cleaning is if the vet said she needed it. My vet will not do unnecessary things unless you ask for it. One of the things I like about him. I hope that you can get your cat in and have it checked out so maybe you can stop whatever is going on.

Deb, I often drop down on weight a bit on that 4th set. It is amazing how tough it becomes. Particularly when doing giant sets. I don't remember now what it was that Mudd was taking. I stopped after she started it and the vet seemed it was some kind of incontinence due to age, but it stopped and when the medicine was gone I never had to give her anymore. It was sad because I discovered a terrible odor in her crate and on her and that is when I noticed her bedding was all soppy. It was totally something that had never happened before and she would cry at the door if she had an accident under normal circumstances. She didn't even seem to notice it. She would be sleeping in her crate.

Judy, sorry it rained and you didn't get to ride. It is nice to get some things done around the house though. I defrosted my freezer last night which was way over due. It was nice to have that task out of the way.

Carolyn, I always liked to do the challenge segment of Step Blast. Sometimes I would add it on to other workouts as a short intense add on. I like the music in that workout.
