Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/3/2023

We did an actual hike this morning, and it was hard. 4 and a half hours with a lot of elevation gain and loss. the cardio part was just fine but my feel, knees and ankles are not thrilled with the experience. haven't done anything like this for a long time. weve done some hiking but this was much much harder. I got thru it ok but it was not easy. so many things got sore and will be more sore tomorrow. ! tomorrow wont be a good morning nor will sunday or monday. will have to do something to loosen things up but it wont be hiking. DH really wanted to do this and I tried but we did not do the last section that is on rock and very exposed. a slip there and you are dead. I did it last year but haven't hiked enough this year to feel OK with it. so we went up to close to the last section, and let it go at that.

cathy that is a bold plan. I would not get out by 5:15 for any reason! less traffic is a good reason but I simply balk and cant(wont) do it. 6;30 is a good time for me.

Thursday was a rest day. Today I did a 60 minute Peloton ride and 30 minutes of Yin Yoga.

Valerie-Great job with the ride and hike. It sounds like you are having fun with your new car.

Carolyn-Great job with Lower Body 1.

Cathy-Great job with STS 2 Tri Sets. It’s definitely cooling off here. I think I’ll be getting my fall clothes out this weekend.

Hi to Diane Sue

Today I did CDorner Full Body with resistance bands, 32 minutes, 96 calories and CDorner Relaxing Neck stretch 19 minutes, 27 calories. I am feeling a lot better. I am trying to get some things around the house caught up after this long break.

Judy, nice work with the walks and Peloton rides. That is great that Chris is getting back into the gym and taking it slow.

Valerie, it seems like there are a lot of trucks around here. Nice ride today. Lunch with friends sounds pleasant. Our new truck has a lot of different sensors and buttons. To put it into drive and revesre is buttons. I am kind of afraid to drive it. It is so big and high up off the ground.

Carolyn, nice work nice work on Lower Body 1 one set and P30 extended stretch yesterday. I hope you got all of the errands run today.

Cathy, nice work on STS 2 Tri-sets and finishing the rotation.

Our lunch out was Thai food. I love it but have not been very successful making it myself. I generally like Asian food overall and can always find something I enjoy, in contrast to burger/fries places where I am not happy. I dont try hard to duplicate since it makes picking restaurants easy.

as predicted, I'm pretty sore this morning though not as bad as I expected. for me DOMS is usually worst on day #2. tomorrow we hope to ride which will help and wont use the same muscles the same way.

this car has all the fancy electronic sensors we have not used much before. we will turn off some of them for sure. I dont think I can depend on a back up camera. will use but not without turning and looking too. it has a fob not a key and the clock updates itself automatically. gets rid of that hard-to-do time change on the 2018 model. it has a gps map/screen new for us but not for most. I'm used to using it on my phone but this looks easy.

Another day without working out, but it was planned. I had my monthly meeting this morning.

Valerie, your hike yesterday was a hard one. I’m not surprised that you are sore. Your new car has some nice features.

Judy, great job with the Peloton ride and Yin Yoga.

Diane Sue, I’m glad that you are better. Good job with the CDorner workout and stretch.

Waving hello to Cathy.

This morning I did 30 Minute Kickbox Express and Mobility 1. After lunch DH and I went to the zoo. Ugh I'm too used to going with Derek who is more than self sufficient. He forgot his water, and he didn't bring along anything for pain, which he always ends up with after walking much, though he basically takes something throughout the day even if he's working. Luckily it wasn't overly hot. His only options to buy were water and gatorade, he hates bottled water and doesn't like gatorade. I offered him some of my water, has I had one for the car and one for the zoo, but he refused to share. Cooties you know. We did walk to and from the African section because he didn't want to wait until a tram was available to ride, plus they were fully loaded and crowded today. I was good with that as I haven't ridden it in years and always walk. It was afternoon, most animals were laying down and sleeping. Not sure what he'd expected. I know it's been a few years since he's gone to any, but he's been to enough to know that animals aren't likely to be as active in the afternoon. I drove, which meant I felt safer. LOL But, horror of horrors, I don't have a CD player, and of course he can't listen to anything else, so there was a lot of bored sighing. He has it perfected. LOL

Valerie I hope your DOMS don't get any worse. Sounds like quite the hike you did! Good for you doing it for as long as you could. I hope the ride helped loosen things up. It's not uncommon for me to get up and leave to head north quite early. Only downside is that this time of year that means driving in the dark the first 2 hours until the sun starts to creep up. I'm not as comfortable driving fast in the dark, and the speed limit after the first 40 minutes will be 75. At least traffic should be very light. It would be light anyway heading north on Sunday, when everyone else is headed south after the weekend. I don't rely totally on my backup camera, but when I have tall vehicles next to me, it can see things I can't until I'm over halfway out of the parking space.

Judy nice job with the Peloton ride and 30 minutes of Yin Yoga.

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Full Body with resistance bands and stretch.

Hi Carolyn!

Today I did CDorner Step # 318 Intermediate Fat burning 70's music, 61 minutes, 266 calories, heart rate 123/156, 5,373 steps. Then I cleaned house. It has been neglected. Today is the last day of antibiotics. I hope the reflux goes away now that I am done. That stuff messes up the digestive system.

Carolyn, I hope you had a nice day and meeting went well.

Valerie, I like Asian Food. Most of the time when we go to a burger place, I hunt down a salad on the menu. Other alternative will be chicken if it is more chicken than breading. I am not a fan of greasy fried food. Our truck has so many new things on it. The Screen for GPS and other things is the size of an ipad. It is big and Google pops up on it. I doubt either of us will figure it all out and it will all be used. The back up camera is right on the money. My husband back it in and I run in the house. He gets within 2 inches of the wall and it makes me nervous. It is so long he tries to make enough room to walk around the front to go in the house. It has a fob too. I would imagine figuring all of it out might be useful at some point. I looked through our manual and online and still cannot identify what the big thing is mounted on the front window. No idea and it is not named in the book. I remember you talking about the difficulty in changing the time in your vehicle. I finally wrote down how to do it on mine because every change I would have to go through the steps again and waste time.

Cathy, that is nice that your husband walked with you at the zoo. Nice work on getting in the 30 minute kickbox express today.

Good afternoon. This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. I’m trying to get back on schedule with my workouts.

Cathy, nice job with 30 Minute Kickboxing Express. Your trip to the zoo sounds like a very trying outing. It’s too bad that your husband didn’t enjoy it more.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step and getting some housework done.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.
