Good morning,

We had nice ride and great breakfast at the restaurant yesterday, then we went to our local coffee shop later to hear a couple of string bands.

Valerie, I would really like a French door type frig..but I don't think it would fit in the space that our current one is in...again...a built in that will need a specific measurement. We also got the "counter-depth" one when we bought the one we have, and I would like to do the same with any new one. Hope the trip works out for you this time, have fun!

Hi Lynda, Josie, Judy & Lori

Lots of laundry and HouseMax for me today...

Take care,

Good morning!

Finally had a great couple of workout days. Friday's workout was great I think I mentioned was going to do Live upper sculpt express followed up with SB target lower. Both were really great workouts. The Upper Express was shorter and got the job done. Yesterday I did Live Fitness Fusion followed up with a standing abs from one of Cathe's DVD. Has an 8lb weighted ball. Not sure what today's workout will be.

Judy...both of these workouts were really great. Are you still a Cathe Live subscriber? The SB workout was awesome. She filmed three short 5 min targets then also strung them together for a longer workout. The parallel thigh and hamstrings on the ball were awesome. I did the 23 minute workout that had all three. Will be doinging this one again. Nice leg workout without weights.

We have all stainless except fridge. We needed to replace ours last year and decided to go with Black. I found the stainless fridge always looked messy. Between our dogs, son and DH the finger prints and the nose prints were a pain!

I have type 2 diabetes. I had gestational diabetes when I carried my DS and it never went away. Runs in my family so no surprises here. Right now I am in great control and only take 2,000 mg of metformin daily. No insulin. Trying my hardest to keep it that way too.

Going out to brunch with my DH. Grocery shopping, walk Chester then workout. This pretty much sums up my day!

There is a SS that is darker now. I have concerns about prints too , but white shows evertthing too. I checked my dates. My frig is about 13 yo. I want to be ready if it dies suddenly. The ice machine doesn't work perfectly but not bad enough to replace. I think I'd like the wider frig space on top and bottom freezer that French doors have. I always had side by side and would like a change. Should fit in my space. As the doors don,t open any differently. Can't do an old single door due to island size.
Lori because both my younger siblings have t2 diabetes, I watch my numbers closely. You are smart to stay on top of it. Causes big problems if not we'll controlled.

Did 20 on treadmill and 15 elliptical yesterday. Today will be sit and drive.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did the RWH legs with the contrast training and the abs after each blast (53:10). Does anyone else hate Supermans and swims as much as I do?

Wonderful meal last night--an heirloom tomato salad and Arctic Char entrée, perfectly cooked. My usual Manhattan. DH gave me a necklace even though it's his birthday. It's really lovely--one of the vendors at the Farmer's Market sells her jewelry and he bought it quite awhile ago, thinking he would wait until our anniversary. But she keeps asking him how I like it, so he decided to give it to me. A lovely surprise.

Everyone ready for the lunar eclipse and supermoon tonight?

Lori, I know what you mean about nose prints. Our sliding doors to the patio and our glass in the front door is all smooched up at Max-level. Nov. 10 is when our window cleaners will be doing their semi-annual thing and I can't wait to get rid of all the crap accumulated since the spring.

Gorgeous weather here, but very chilly this morning.

Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I went for a walk with DH and this morning I did STS Disc 23, Legs. I modified some of the moves but was able to do most of the workout. I'm starting the 4th week of Mesocycle 2 and am so ready for the active rest week! Today I did something I didn't think I would ever do. I bought a 30 lb. dumbbell. After doing 1 arm rows with a 25 last week and using the weighted gloves to go up to 27 lbs, I'm pretty sure I can move up to 30 soon. I don't have any pairs higher than 20 lbs, and I don't think I will be needing another 25 or 30 anytime soon. One arm rows and maybe pullovers will be the only thing I can do with the heavier ones.

Deb-we have a stainless steel refrigerator that we bought last year. I like it, but like Lori said, it's kind of hard to keep looking clean. It smudges easily. Did you see that KCM has a preorder starting tomorrow for her new workouts?

Lori-I still subscribe to Cathe live and on demand. I need to do more of her live workouts. I know they are awesome! With winter coming I'll probably be making more use of Cathe and SB streaming. I found a great SB core workout on Amazon, it's called "Gorgeous Core" from 2010. The DVD is an hour, divided into 6 different core/ab routines. I've only done a couple but have watched all and I think this could end up being one of my favorite core dvds.

Lynda-great workout! That salad sounds very good. That was sweet of your DH to give you a necklace on his birthday.

Valerie-I wish I would have seen the darker SS. We got ours at Best Buy and I don't think they had a darker one. Ours is a side by side. It's the first one I've had that didn't have the freezer on the top. Our old one was probably over 20 years old. I think it would have failed soon had we not replaced it.

Hi to Josie! Have a great week everyone!

Judy

Good morning & Happy Monday.

A nice weekend, our day trip on Saturday was fun...I have some pics on my phone that I will post here...once I email them to my other mailbox.

Lori, those workouts sound great. Which Cathe DVD has standing abs with a weighted ball? Is it the one with all core/ab workouts, or the end of a different one? Is the SB one with the 3-5 minute workouts a streaming one too? You are doing well with keeping the Type 2 D at bay.

Valerie, have a great trip! our frig is almost 18 years old....I am starting to think it's time to shop for a new one, have it all picked out, just in case..like you did with yours. I would really like a French door model, but I don't think we have the room for the doors to open or the width in the space we have.

Lynda, I don't mind supermans, but I hate swims....cannot stay up and move my arm like that at the same time. I just keep doing supermans when Cathe is "swimming". What is Arctic Char? Did you stay up for the eclipse and supermoon? They said it was too cloudy here to see it.

Judy, wow, a 30 lb? That's great :). I looked for the pre-order over at KCM....I didn't see any mention of it...but I was on the ipad and its hard to see stuff on there. I will go over there and see it on this desktop. I think I liked the one DVD when I read the description when she first mentioned them. It is a combined dumbbell and kettlebell workout...that SB core DVD sounds interesting.

Hi to Josie,

If it is not raining, a track workout is planned with my cousin, then maybe working in her office for a few hours...

Take care,

Here are a few pics....this place is kink of quirky, but really nice property, they have a walking trail, you can sit at the pond on chairs and watch the swans. They also have a place where the swans can go and feed, be protected etc...the table with the stuffed bears and moose is in them middle of the restaurant...kids love this, so cute.

Hi Ladies,

I had a wonderful weekend with my friend Kim who was visiting from Detroit. We did not workout but, we managed to walk 7 miles or more on Saturday. We walked to my local farmers market in the morning and then went to Venice beach and walked and had lunch on the boardwalk.

I need to go grocery shopping today, I can't put it off anymore :).

Valerie, have a great trip. The only thing we had to replace this year is our coffee table in our family room. My fridge is 15 year old, so I like Deb should start looking for one just in case.

Deb, there is a restaurant called Black Bear in Fresno that I take the kids to, and I thought that you were at one of them. The food is amazing and very rich.

Garance, your DH is so sweet! I like when I get surprise presents.

Judy, you have gotten so strong doing STS.

Lori, I have a follow up with my DR. on the 5th of October to go over my numbers. Diabetes run in my family too and I want to do anything possible to not get to that point. I want to avoid taking medication and would like to look into a natural way of doing it.

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both low impact hiit workouts together (50:08).

Judy, when I was doing STS I did get 25 and 30 lb dumbbells, and did use the 30s for meso 3. I do some of the back work with the 25s in the new series, and some of the chest presses, but I usually drop to 20s by the time Cathe gets to that third set of 12 reps. My 30s I haven't used in a long time.

Deb, that looks like a lovely place for a day trip. Arctic char is a meaty fish, like halibut. Very tasty the way it was done. Are you actually doing some part time work for your cousin? The lunar eclipse was pretty spectacular here--a very clear, cold night, so we bundled up and watched it for a bit.

Valerie, I hope you have better weather for Yellowstone this time, and that it isn't too crowded.

Josie, that sounds like at least 10,000 steps--the requisite number for maintenance I've read somewhere. Is it still as hot where you are?

Hi to Lori!

Good evening ladies!!

I have had the urge to run on my treadmill so decided to get up early this morning and run. I ran 2.5 miles on a slight incline which is good considering it has been ages since I ran in the morning. I got the ladies to work out at lunch and we did 21d Barre Legs. Everyone was hurting even me. After running my legs were already tired. Needless to say decided not to workout tonight. Tomorrow we will be doing 21d extreme upper. Everyone seems to be excited about working out again which is awesome!

Deb...thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like a really quaint place. We never saw the moon last night. The weather was nice but we were sound asleep before there was any action. The ab workout is Medicine Ball Abs. I bought this download a year or so ago and used the workout blender to customize it. Looks like it was filmed in conjunction with STS.

Lynda...oh so sweet DH gave you a necklace on his BD. Very nice! We have a sliding door leading out to the patio. If you ever came to our house you would think I never clean it. As soon as I clean both dogs are smudging their noses against it. Impossible to keep clean. But you know...I wouldn't want it any other way :).

Judy...great job with the weights! My dumbells go up to 30 lbs then I have one 35lb that I use for plie squats. I have not used the 30 for upper body in a while. I had 40lbs ones but never used them so gave them to my DS. Usually it is 25 for one arm rows. Congrats on moving up to 30's! That DVD sounds like a great core work. I hardly ever use Cathe on Demand. I may cancel and save the 10 bucks a month. I could never go without Cathe Live though...one of the best fitness purchases I have made.

Valerie...you got me thinking of my treadmill. Thank you! I do take my Type 2 very seriously. I really do not want to ever have to take insulin.

Josie...hope your follow up goes well. I have a dermatologist appt in the morning for a body scan. So much skin cancer in my family so I am top of this too. I have a couple of spots that are concerining so smart to have them check. What will be ironic is if I end up with skin cancer since I am known as miss SPF!!

Have a great night all!

Good morning,

Yesterday I ended up doing R/W/HIIT Low Impact w/bonus abs, it was raining so we did not go to the track.

Josie, how nice that your friend visited, and it sounds like you had a great time with her.

Lynda, I help my cousin prepare the forms that are needed to close a real estate transaction...you know all those forms you have to sign when you buy a house? Then after the closing there are other forms to finish and mail to banks, etc. Just something to do and she can really use the help. She is pretty busy and only has herself to do all the work, plus all the calls and going to the closings. I heard after the fact that the eclipse was pretty amazing here too....but it was touch and go...they said it cleared up right before it happened. Did you actually stay up until 3:00 am or so to see it?

Lori, great job on the workouts, and getting the Ladies back on track. :). I think Medicine Ball abs is on that ab/core DVD that came out around STS..or with STS...I do have a Cathe all core workout DVD. We have the same thing..nose smudges on our living room windows...when a dog walks by or the mailman comes, they are up, looking out the windows and barking...but I agree with you, I would not have it any other way.

Hi to Valerie, & Judy,

A workout, and some calls to make..

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did ba, rear delts, and bis (52:28).

Deb, we stayed up until almost midnight, but saw most of what the hoopla was about. After the full eclipse, the whole thing begins to reappear and it's a blood-red very large moon. Yikes! I can see why some ancient peoples thought it meant the end of the world. DH has binoculars too.

What Cathe does at the end of the second core workout is a superman that turns into your arms against your sides and you stay that way for just long enough that I begin to groan. Then she goes back to extended arms swimming. I think for some reason I hold my breath--maybe because my tummy is pressed so hard into the floor to get my legs and upper torso off the mat. Lori, no, I'm not surprised you like this. It's just challenging enough to make you smile. I wonder if you could get your ladies to try this. Feels like torture to me.

Valerie, in case you read this, House of Cards season 3 is really kind of slow, and I feel like the writers are not sure what they are doing with Claire. Either that, or they are writing her as someone who is going through some kind of existential crisis. The final episode, of course, has a cliffhanger for season 4.

Judy, I did use one of my 30s for pullovers today and didn't have too much trouble. I think Cathe uses a 35 pounder.

Hi to Josie! Hope your doctor has good advice.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I ran again. And at lunch we did extreme upper fix. It is a great workout but no way would I consider it extreme after working out with Cathe for so long. The ladies all think it is an extreme workout and when they are done they feel so accomplished. For them it is a really tough workout and I would never let them think otherwise. We had 10lb and 15lb weights there that I always used but today they were missing. Hoping someone just borrowed them I opted to do the workout with a band since I knew how to improvise and I actually liked the bands. Changed things up a bit for me.

Deb...yes I believe it did come out around STS. Has the same people and background so this makes sense. We are getting the rain tomorrow into Thursday. Suppose to come down really hard!

Lynda...I like supermans more than swimming I will admit. That is great using 30lbs for pullovers!! Good for you.

Looks like Cathe will start filming soon. Hoping the new DVD's are similar intensity as her Live workouts. The live workouts are tough but not exhausting. I always feel really worked after one.

Went for a body scan at my dermatologist today. Funny thing is the 2 darks spots I was concerned about he wasn't, however, there was a spot on my back he did not like. He took some cells for a biopsy and I will get results sometime next week right before I am spending the week in Cancun. I did not plan this very well! What was I thinking?

Have a great night! Hi to Josie, Judy and Valerie!

Good morning,

It has been raining here for a solid 2 days...we even have a trickle in our basement, which is unheard of for us.

Lynda, I do not like those Supeman's and really don't like any of the plank moves either. They are very difficult for me. I start on my hands, move to my elbows, then end up on my knees, not a very effective plank. :( I started watching 5 Days, it seems a little creepy...they just got a dog at the pound, and I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen to it...tell me if that is true.

Lori, here's to the skin test coming out with good results. Do you use any MP3 when you are on the treadmill? I really like Candace Grasso's running workouts, Run Fit is a good one, and she has walking ones and an elliptical one as well. They are interval workouts, I even use them at the track. I am really ready for the new Ice workouts. I just preordered one of the new KCM's...she will have this done before Cathe even has clips of the filming LOL...not as big of a production like Cathe does.

Hi to Judy, Josie, & the travelling Valerie,

I assume no track workout today, so maybe the treadmill. I am meeting a friend for lunch today, she retired about a year before me.

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Last night I did STS disc 24, Back & Biceps. One more workout and I'll be done with Meso 2. Next week will be active rest and then onto Meso 3. I never thought I would get this far.
It's nice out today so I think I will walk for an hour or so. I see that Cathe Live tomorrow is a spin workout and I plan on doing that one too.
I preordered both of KCM's new workouts. As if I need more workout dvds.. One of my 2016 goals will be to do all of the workouts I haven't done and to sell or give away the ones I know I won't do again.

Deb-it rained here all day yesterday. Now we are really into the fall weather, I doubt that we will see 70 degrees again until next year. Looks like highs around 60 and lows in the 40's the rest of the week.

Lynda- for some reason I haven't done the RWH core you mentioned. I'm going to try it out this week.
Doing pullovers with 30 lbs is awesome! Last night the heaviest I could do was 25. I did do one set of one arm rows with 30 but it was tough. I will be feeling it today.

Lori- I agree about Cathe Live workouts. I hope that her new ones are along the same line.

Hi to Valerie & Josie!

Judy

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Dancin' Abs (58:00).

Deb, don't worry about the dog. It is still a beloved part of the family at the end of the series. I don't mind planks, but I'm not particularly fond of doing the out and in with the legs. If I'm feeling lazy, I sometimes just hold the plank on my hands (not doing the down, down, up, up) for the entirety of that final sequence. I feel like it's good for my triceps. Did you notice that the mom of the missing woman from Five Days is in Downton Abbey? We are getting a lot of rain today, but yesterday was just cloudy until late afternoon. I should look up those new KCM workouts because, knowing Cathe, she won't have anything until the end of the year I bet, and I am getting a little too repetitive. If I were truly ambitious, I would go take a look and find some oldies but goodies and move them into my little cache of workouts that I've been using every week.

Lori, do you have northern European skin pigmentation? I think I inherited my Mom's Mediterranean complexion, so I tan easily and never burn and don't have any freckles or spots. My DH, though, is definitely Celtic and has tons of freckles and burns if he is not super-careful. He slathers on the sunscreen because he is out all the time. Hope all is well with your checkup.

Judy, good for you on STS. I will be interested to hear what you think of meso 3. Do not despair--we may still get Indian Summer and some warm weather.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Good evening ladies!

This morning I ran and this evening I did Tabatacise. Was not able to workout at lunch Was extremely busy today at work.

Deb...I like to watch TV when I am on the treadmil. Right now I am watching Dark Shadows if you can believe this. I loved it as a kid and decided to watch the entire series. It ran from 1966 to 1971. It is with Barnabas Collins the vampire if anyone needs refreshing! As kids we would rush home after to school to watch it. Then my brothers would chase me around the house with vangs made of gum!!

Judy...great job with Meso 2!! You are almost there! I am not overly worried about the biopsy. I think because there is a family history of melonoma he is being cautious. Cathe Live tomorrow is a spin class. Not sure if you were aware. I have enjoyed her previous Live spin classes. Been a while since I have been on my spin bike. I should hop on this weekend to try this one out.

Lynda...boy did we get some rain today. Came down hard and it was so warm and balmy. Then leaving work there was a drastic temp change. I guess more rain is still to come. Someome mentioned a hurricane this weekend? I have not heard. Probably should look this up! I am pretty much Irish with a little french in there somewhere. So yes..light skinned, reddish hair and freckles describes me. I look at the sun and I burn! My older brother had some melonoma on his back, other bother melonoma on his nose, younger brother squamous on his lower lip which required extensive surgery. You would never know it looking at him. The plastic surgeon was amazing! So we all take skin cancer seriously. Not something you mess with.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!!!

Happy October!

I can't believe it's October already. It is really cold here this morning,

Judy, great job on STS Meso 2. I think you will like meso 3, but my advice? keep the remote handy to FF though those rest times between sets. :). I like your 2016 goal regarding your unused workouts. Maybe I should try that too.

Lynda, yes! I did notice that woman, and it took me a bit to figure out where she was from without all the "trappings" she would be in from Downton. BTW, when is the next DA going to start? Probably early January. The new KCM uses a kettlebell and dumbells...but she says you can sub a DB for the kettlebell. Look really close to the Athletic training vol 2 one....the first volume was a workout for teenagers...I assume this is the same. I didn't get vol 1 and will not get the second one. You may like the pyramid one she did last time....

Lori, wow...Dark Shadows! I may go over and see if they have it on Prime...:) With that family history, it is smart that you get checked out like that. Any news on Chester?

John is off today, we were talking about maybe going on a bike ride, but I don't think that is going to happen. We should do some clean up around the house, especially the attic. Ugh.

Take care,
