Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/27

Hi everyone--

This morning I did AB (54:00).

Deb, thanks for the information on KCM. I will check out her site and see if there is anything there to hold me over until Cathe comes through. Yes, DA usually starts up in January. This will be their final season.

Judy, I need to winnow my collection of workout dvds as well. I know I have done them all, but there are definitely some I know I will never do again and I should either sell them or give them to the library for others to use. Deb is right about keeping the remote handy. I tend to be more on the "follow the rules" side of things, so I endured the long rests, but this also made me never want to do meso 3 again (in addition to injuring my shoulder). But it sounds like you are already a good modifier for what doesn't work for you.

Lori, I vaguely remember being in high school when Dark Shadows was on, but I didn't watch it. I think they also made a movie recently that flopped based on the soap. Johnny Depp was Barnabas. He seems to be in a lot of flops lately.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Good evening ladies!

No run this morning. Needed to sleep in a bit. At lunch we did Barre Legs. The conference room was being used when we went to workout so could not grab our weights so we improvised and went to another room and all was good! No workout tonight. Came home and my DH had pizza and wine ready ....that ended any thought of working out tonight!

Deb...no news on Chester. He seems to be doing better so we will see how things go. We have been trying to fatten him up a bit and it seems to be working. Very strange. We now have a concern with Nilla. She has been keeping us up the past couple of nights. Trying to grab her back end and barking a bit. When I pick her up she is happy and content and does not seem in pain at all. No clue with what is going on here.

Judy...I recently did this with my DVD's and it felt great to do so. Sold a bunch on Ebay that I never use any more. I saw the KCM presale but I am holding back. With Cathe Live and SB I am very content at the moment.

Lynda...I have no desire to see the Johnny Depp Dark Shadows. Still undecided if I want to see Black Mass. I have heard the documentary on Net Flix is great and all you need to see. Looking forward to DA. Sad that this is it's last season.

Biopsy came back and benign! Yeah!

Good morning & Happy Friday!

The heat actually went on this morning, so that shows how cold it got overnight. brrrr.....

Lynda, I finished Day 28 of Five Days ....now I want to see what happens, I was too tired to watch the next episode. Actually 2 starts from Downton on there....Hugh Bonneville ( who plays the Lord) and the woman that plays Matthews mother...can't think of her name right now. It is pretty creepy, mostly the music and filming that make it that way. I really like it though.

Lori, I checked out Dark Shadows. Unfortunately, it's not free on Prime. :(. I can understand how pizza and wine would win over a workout, especially after a hard day at work. Poor little Nilla....when you say "grab her back"....do you mean like she is trying to bite it? like if she had a flea bite? I started our dogs on a half teaspoon of organic coconut oil with each meal....supposed to help with skin, and a lot of good things...it may be something to start Chester on...could help with weight gain too.

Hi to Josie, Judy, and the vacationing Valerie,

Any exciting plans for the weekend? No exciting plans here, making dog food, thinking about what I will pack for our trip next week to DC.

Take care.

Hi Ladies,

I only worked out Tuesday and Thursday, but did double workouts spinning and Karina. Today we are going to San Diego for the weekend to see Tower of Power and The Average White Band. I will also get to see my DS and the rest of the grandkids.

Lori, congratulations on the results. Wine and pizza would win here too :). I used to watch Dark Shadows too, even though I could not understand much of what they were saying. I did not lear how to speak english until 1969-70.

Garance, I agree with you about Johnny Depp. He has not done anything good lately.

Deb, It is still hot here and we still need rain. Send some our way.

Hi to Judy and the vacationing Valerie!

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit with core 1 (49:22).

Yes, Deb, Hugh Bonneville with that distinctive chin. Very chilly here as well. I hope we don't get anything from hurricane Joaquin this weekend.

Lori, that is great news about the cancer screening and must take a load off your mind. Maybe Nilla hears something outside. It's rutting season here for the deer, so Max seems to be somewhat more on alert.

Josie--hope you get some rain and cooler temperatures. Sounds like a fun-filled weekend.

I will probably go to see a German film--Phoenix--this weekend. It's supposed to be Hitchcock inspired.

Hi to Judy and Valerie!

Good evening ladies!

This morning I power walked on an incline. Just wasn't feeling the mood to run. I will have to say the incline really got my heart rate up more than I anticipated. Was a really good low impact workout. Tonight I felt like the recent Live Spin. I was about 20 minutes into when Nilla started her thing again but this time she was clearly trying to get at something. I immediatley jumped off my bike and picked her up to look and yup sure enough I saw a flea dart from the area! I am so shocked. Never did I think this was a problem till I read your post Deb. Nilla is 15 and we have never had a flea. Last time one of my animals had a flea was when I was growing up. Even my beautiful Collie who lived to be 14 went flealess. Well anyways no way could I continue to workout knowing something was biting my poor Nilla ( I am a good mommy) so I thru my jacket on and went to the only 2 stores in town to buy something, anything! But nothing. With it dark and raining I did not want to make the hike to Petco at this time. I still have some issues driving under these conditions so rather not chance it. I pretty much searched Nilla and have not seen another. I do know that it there is one there is more.

Ok enough about fleas!

Deb..thanks for the heads up. I have some organic coconut oil I bought serveral months ago and have yet to open. How much would you recommend for a Chihuahua? 1/2 teas? It is only coconut so if she has a teaspoon she may just love it!

Josie...only two days of working out but a weeks worth was done. Great job! Average White Band!! Haven't heard of them in ages. Have a blast!

Lynda...was so cold and miserable today. I am not ready for this yet! I would love anything Hitchcock. I have not heard of that movie.

Judy..Cathe looks so strong in this recent spin class. The little I did I enjoyed so I may try and finish it up tomorrow.

Tomorrow I am spending most of the day with my DS's GF. We are having a mani/pedi, dinner then coming back here for some wine and dessert. After my conference there was so much extra wine that our vendors donated I ended up with almost 3 cases of some very good wine! It will be a great day! :).

Hi to Valerie!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Cathe's Live Spin class. I think she has done 4 live spin classes now and they are all pretty good. Today I did a long warmup from the workout blender. It was 30 minutes of Cathe low impact warmups. That was kind of fun, and I think it would be a good workout for an easy/rest day, just to do something. Then I did RWH Core 2. That was a killer! I will need to do that one a few more times... After that I did my final STS meso 2 workout! I am so ready for this rest week. I am planning a week of stretching, core, SB Barre and some light cardio.

Deb-we had our heat on today too :( It got cold so fast, and I'm not quite ready for it.
We will probably go to breakfast tomorrow then do some shopping and work around the condo. Nothing too special going on.

Josie-Have a great time in San Diego!

Lynda-All Out Low Impact is the only XTrain workout I haven't tried. Maybe I will look at that one this week.

Lori-I'm sorry about Nilla. I haven't had a pet with fleas since I was growing up either. I hope she doesn't have too many. I always worry about the cats getting fleas too.
I agree- Cathe looked very strong in her spin class yesterday. I will be doing that one again too.

Hi to Valerie,

Have a great weekend!

Judy

Good morning & Happy Weekend,

Brrr....still cold, I guess this is the new norm. Funny how we didn't get to ease into fall....one day it was 80 and then it was in the 40's.

Josie, have fun in San Diego!

Lynda, I hope the storm stays offshore, and any residual rain is not bad. I also hope it is all gone before we go to DC. I finished 5 Days. I was confused by the inclusion of that other guy in the abduction of the wife...where was he? in the flower vendor van? why? what did she do to make him hit her? I couldn't make out what they were saying on how he fit into the whole thing....I may have to go back and re-watch the end of the last episode. I wonder if they have sub-titles, and if I can remember how to turn them on for the iPad.

Lori, Nilla most likely has a bite that is bothering her. If she has one, Chester will as well, so whatever you get, put it on both of them. I like the one that has the little ampules that you put between their shoulders. I only put it on when we have an indication that they have had flea bite. Since we go to the dog club and there are hundreds of dogs in and out of there, they are bound to get a bite here or there. As for the coconut oil, I give mine 1/2 teas, twice a day, but Nilla is a lot smaller, 1/4 teas should be good. This is supposed to help with all kinds of things. see article below for skin issues:

Judy, good job on STS! You deserve a rest week. Combining Cathe warm-ups is a great idea! Also would be a nice workout for someone just starting out with Cathe workouts.

Agility class today, then laundry and finish the dog's food,

Have a great weekend!

I'm back from our trip and it was very nice. we got weathered out again and started back mid day Thursday. started raining and was going to be worse Friday. I'm not all up to speed on everything yet
Lori.. each flea lays 20-30 eggs per day. it's unlikely there was only one flea. some dogs are allergic to the flea bites so the scratch like crazy. the thing is, the flea eggs drop off and are in the environment of your home. Chester probably has some too. the eggs get into the carpeting, bedding, anywhere the dogs go, and eventually hatch and will jump back onto your dogs. so you need to treat the dogs, AND the environment. Fleas are a seasonal problem out here, so I treat my cat with a topical solution ( Revolution) about 7 months of the year. once a month treatment. Your vet probably has a hand out on how they recommend to deal with it. different products are more effective depending on where you live. Flea season should be winding down as it cools down so you can probably get this handled without too much fuss.
