Good morning & Happy Sunday.

It's really cold and still raining. It has been raining since Friday night...non-stop. OK, we needed rain, but it can stop now!

Lots of HousMax today, since it is not a great day for outdoor stuff,

Valerie, have a safe and fun trip,

Judy, I hope the weather is good where you are so you can go to the festival.

Hi to Josie, Lynda & Lori,

Hope everyone is having a good weekend,

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

I never really ended up sick. I really think I was just exhausted. I felt so much better once I got caught up with sleep. Yesterday was Cathe Live For the Love of Cardio. It was about 45 minutes and was a really great steady state cardio. Had some high impact but not crazy jumping which was good after not working out last week. I finished with SB Advanced Lower Body Barre Fire. Total workout was about an hour and it felt great to get back into it!

Took Chester to the Vet and he has lost another 5 pounds. Last year he was 109 lbs now he is 93lbs. So this is a little concerning. We increased his Tramadol dosage and started him on a different glucosamine. Waiting on the lab work to see what the next step is. He and Nilla did enjoy a nice walk yesterday late in the day when it was cooler.

Valerie...yeah you are going on your trip!!! Have a great time.

Josie...nice little win there! Congrats on the NY Marathon twice. That is a huge accomplishment.

Lynda...I am the same way in line or waiting for anything. I have the Kindle app on my phone and will read while waiting. I also subscribe to the electronic Oprah and Self Magazines so I have them readily avalable on the fly too.

Judy..hope the festival was fun!

Deb...we had rain on Thursday and a little Friday morning but then that was it. Yesterday was very nice. Not sure what today brings. But it makes no difference since today like you will be house max and then going to try and get my hair cut. Our conference is this coming weekend so need a cut that is easy to style. When I met my DH my hair was long and straight past the middle of the back. It has slowly been getting shorter an shorter.

My DH wanted to upgrade his Ipad 2 yesterday so we bought the Ipad Air 2 128g for me and he will get my Ipad Air 64g. Its a win win for both of us. With all the movie making I do the extra memory will be great. We laugh that I get the new and he gets my leftovers with technology. It's on order and will be in on Wednesday. Lynda....doing my part for your son! Lol!

Not sure what the workout will be. Thinking a mix and match kind of day!

Hi everyone--

This morning I did the legs premix with the abs after each blast (53:02).

Have a great time on your trip, Valerie!

Lori, that is alarming about Chester. I hope the vet can find some effective meds for him. Actually, my son was lured away from Apple by Hewlet Packard with higher pay and better stock options, so he just started training for them in Houston. He will still be in California, though, where his new woman friend is still with Apple.

The rain was mostly over night last night. Today is cool and the sun is trying to come out. I may go see the Redford-Nolte film, A Walk in the Woods, which is supposed to be amusing. It's based on a memoir by someone named Bryson, who decided in his later years to walk the Appalachian Trail. Mil read it and said it was excellent.

Judy, hope you had good weather for your fair!

Hi to Deb and Josie!

Almost to Idaho...left early. I have the Bryson book along and may get to it after I finish an e dwardabbey book. Book reviews were better than movie reviews

Lori that is concerning weight loss, especially if you haven't intentionallyput chester on a diet. Less weight might be better for movement but that is a lot if no explanation. Does he have dental issues?

Josie three marathons !amazing. I never got beyond 10k. Always got sick when I increased mileage.

We plan on driving all day and getting close to our destination mid day tomorrow.

Happy Monday....

BRrrrrr....it's really cold....it's like it turned into fall overnight....

Lori, glad you did not come down with anything...and that you got some needed rest. I saw the clip of that live workout...it did seem pretty fast moving. Hope all is ok with Chester, and the lab work comes back good. LOL on how you get the new tech stuff and your DH the "hand me downs".

Lynda, did you see the movie? We always like your reviews. :)

Valerie, nice trip!

Judy, how was the festival? I hope you had better weather than we had here.

Josie, keep up with those peanuts! They are a workout in themselves.

Not much going on here...a workout, and I think some work at my cousins office...

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both low impact hiit workouts together (50:08).

Deb, I did go to see A Walk in the Woods and I enjoyed it a lot. Redford and Nolte are sort of like the odd couple and there is a lot of comedy between them. I also think the movie is worth the views you get along the Appalachian Trail. They don't get over halfway, so they are a long way from the Northeast, but some of the places in the Smokey range of mountains are simply gorgeous. It's a nice little entertainment and not too long.

Very cold here too and it feels like fall, except the weathermen predict an upsurge into the 80s by midweek, so I'm not saying good-bye to summer just yet........and then I will cross my fingers for Indian Summer.

Valerie, hope your vacation is going well and you are enjoying the time away from home.

Good evening!

No workout tonight. Worked a 12 hour day and I am beat. Having a glass of wine at the moment! :). Yesterday I did a few sections of different Cathe Lives. Same one I did a week or so ago since I already had it maped out so no thinking required. On the live workouts I write down the time when certain sections start so I can jump on it really quick when doing a mix and match. Workout ended up being 1 hour and 20mins. I knew I would not be working out today so wanted a great one yesterday.

Deb...the workout was fast moving but not crazy fast. I think you would enjoy this one. Was cool here this morning but it felt nice. Hopefully we will get the lab results soon on Chester.

Valerie...his teeth are in great shape for his age. We have been pretty good about taking care of them. Where are you ending up? I know you must have mentioned where you were going.

Lynda...thanks for the review on the movie. Sounds like something that would interest my DH and I. I have heard talk that the winter is supposed to be worse than last year. I will fall nto a deep depression if this is the case!

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Hi Everyone,

The weather was great yesterday. Sunny and in the 60's. We had a nice time at the festival. DH and I need
to do things like that more often. I started week 2 of STS meso 2 on Saturday night. I did disc 18, Back & Biceps.
Yesterday I did Turbo Barre, legs & core only and today I did a Spinerval.

Deb-I'm sorry that you had so much rain this weekend, I hope the weather is nicer for you this week.

Lori-I'm glad you didn't get sick. That is a little concerning about Chester :( I hope the new glucosamine helps.
We went to the Apple Store on Saturday just to look around. DH is thinking about upgrading
his phone (he has a 4s now) and I am interested in the iPad Pro that is coming out in November. If I get that, then DH will get my iPad Air. That will be a win-win for us too.

Valerie-hope you have a good trip! I know what you mean about getting sick when you increase running mileage. That happened to me a few times too.

Hi to Lynda & Josie!

Judy

Good morning!

Nice day yesterday, although I did not get a workout in, I did a lot of errands, and a couple hours of work at my cousins' office.

Lynda, I will put that movie on my list of things to watch when they are free on Prime. :).

Lori, Wow, you must be exhausted. Good that you are kicking back and relaxing. I hope all is good with Chester. do you brush Chester's teeth? I am supposed to brush Kylee's every day, but it is not something she likes. She lets me do it, very reluctantly. I did a major search for dental bones that are supposed to help keep tartar and plaque down...found a few on Amazon that I am waiting to get.

Judy, good to insert some barre and spinning while doing STS. It can get a little tedious, as you can tell...I stopped just after starting Meso 2. Maybe I should use them as individual workouts, and not see this daunting road ahead...The festival sounds great, I wish we had more like that one here.

Hi to Josie, & Valerie,

Going to do some things around here today, back to my list of indoor projects...unless it's really nice outside...always weeding to do right?

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Had a great time with the Peanuts. Yesterday I went to Grit class at the gym and even though its only a 30 minute class I'm feeling it today. Today is Karina's turn to torture us.

It is raining here and it has been going on since last night and will end around 6:00 PM. We need it so badly.

Judy, my DH and I have been trying to go out more. We have gone to different concerts and have scheduled a few more in October.

Valerie, hope that you are having a great time on your trip.

Lori, those are long hours so you totally deserve that glass of wine or two ;)

Garance, thank you for the movie review. I saw the previews and will definitely go see it.

Deb, have a great day!

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did ba, rear delts, and bis (52:28).

So much nicer here today. Yesterday was too cold for me, but today the sun is out and the temp in the 70s.

Lori, I cannot imagine doing a workout after a 12 hour day. I hope you get some good news on Chester.

Deb, do you let your garden die back and leave it over the winter or do you cut everything down before winter sets in? I've been told to just leave it alone to save the nutrients or something, but then I hate the way it looks and the cleanup in the spring. All I have left is my annual garden, but I will probably get some hanging mums. I really should resist because they don't last for long, but they always seem to brighten the fall.

Judy, are you substituting barre for the legs in STS? I guess one of the reasons people like retiring here is that there is always something going on at the college during the school year, and then, during the summer this is a favorite destination. We also have so many museums, and there's a bluegrass festival this weekend at Mass MOCA.

Josie, I hope you get lots of rain. Northern California's fires are so awful they are turning areas into something that looks "post-apocalyptic" according to the newscasters. The pictures are scary.

Deb, the next film coming to our little cinema is Grandma with Lily Tomlin and this one has had some great reviews. I am looking forward to it. By the way, I finished Hand of God and I do recommend it although it is kind of rough. What else can you expect in something starring Ron Perlman? I think he was head of a motorcycle gang in Sons of Anarchy--which I never watched, but I know a lot of people enjoyed.

Hi to Valerie on her hiking/biking/wildlife watching vacation!

Good evening ladies!

Tonight was all about barre. Started off with SB lower body boot camp and finished with her Arms workout. Was looking at my subscription and can't believe my year subscription is expiring on the 20th. Does not seem a year ago I signed on to SB. Went by quickly. I do plan on subscribing for another year as I really enjoy her workouts.

Judy..So funny the guys get the leftovers! My DH will be so happy with my old Ipad. I am on my new one now which is really no difference from my old other then 128g. I am backing up my DH's now as I type this then will transfer everything over. He is at work and does not know this is all taking place. My ipad was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but came today. I say get the Pro!!

Deb...we do brush his teeth and let me say it is not easy at all and we do not do it everyday. We manage at least once a week. His teeth are in really good shape so it must be doing something. He was brought up on dry food too so not sure if this makes a difference. I still have not received results yet. Was hoping to have them by now. I am very impatient when it comes to my doggies!

Josie..glad you enjoyed being with the peanuts!

Lynda...I have been doing a lot of 12 hour days lately. Once the conference is over things should get back to normal for me. I have been really tired and notice my lack of energy during my workouts. Today's barre workout was nice. Tough but not overly strenuous.

Have a great night all! Hi to Valerie!

Good morning & Happy Hump Day!

John had an unexpected half day yesterday, so we went to a nice lunch then later took the dogs to the dog boutique in the neighborhood. It was fun. Spent too much money of course.

Josie, glad you are getting some rain....those fires in northern Ca sound horrible.

Lynda, most of our garden is periennals, and we leave them as is. The only annuals I have are baskets, and they are easy to just dump out and put away. I want to make sure all is weeded before the snow flies, it makes is so much easier in the spring. I have some mums planted in a bed, that are just started to bloom, hope they are open before it snows. :).
I am still watching Blue Bloods, hooked on it. I wonder when The Good Wife will start again, and the last half of season 7 of Mad Men will be on TV in October, however I won't see it for a while. The library has the DVD's on order. I haven't heard anything on the new Doc Martin season....must go over and Google it. Edited to add: Hope the cuts at HP do not affect your son?

Lori, I hope you hear something today on Chester. Kylee lets me do her teeth, she is such a sweetheart when it comes to stuff like that. I just forget to do it. Bad. I ordered some dental bones from Amazon, hoping they help some in keeping plaque and tartar away.

Hi to Judy, & Valerie,

Meeting my friend from work for lunch today, then agility class at 5:30,

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves. (55:15).

Deb, it sounds like you do what I do with the garden. I just don't like how it looks. I thought the new Doc Martin season wouldn't start until January or February--some vague recollection. I doubt HP would have hired him a month ago only, put him in training for 2 weeks, and then decide to fire him, but who knows? I will have to check with him.

Going to a poetry reading tonight. One of my former colleagues just published a new collection and I have always liked his work.

Lori, I also find barre workouts somehow less intimidating to face. Once again, hope you learn something helpful for Chester.

Have a great day!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did STS disc 17, legs. My version is highly modified, no deadlifts or paper plate moves, but I did follow the tri-set format, doing squats, lunges and then subbing barre and floor moves for the ones I couldn't do. I didn't have any problems so I should be able to continue with these modifications. Once STS is over, I think that I will be switching to all barre and floor work for legs.
Today I went for a long walk. It is so nice out! Sunny and in the 80's this week. I know that won't last long so I want to get outside as much as I can.

Deb-yes, STS is getting pretty tedious. I really want to finish the 3 month challenge, so I will continue but I have had my moments, especially the last 2 weeks, where I was ready to drop out. I like the idea of using them as individual workouts or even just doing 1 mesocycle as a rotation.

Josie-glad you had a good time with the peanuts! I should look for some things for DH and I to do in October.

Lynda-It sounds like you live in a nice area. I thought about substituting barre for STS legs, but decided to modify and do as much of the STS leg work as I can without hurting myself.

Lori-I agree about SB. My year is up in April and I will sign up again. Once STS is done, I think I will be doing more of her workouts.
The iPad Pro sounds really good to me. I think it would be great for streaming workouts. DH doesn't really get into tablets, but I think he will like the iPad once he starts using it.

Hi to Valerie!

Judy

Good evening ladies!

Tonight was Cathe Live Metabolic Conditioning then I immediatly took Chester for a short walk. Still no news from Vet. Driving me nuts!

Busy at work today. Everything at this point is done for the conference. Tomorrow my plan is to go thru my files and save what I need to my dropbox. I used to take a huge binder with me with all these reports. I will admit having an Ipad has really made things easier for me. Everything is at my finger tips. I pretty much walk around the entire time with my Ipad in hand!

Deb...what a nice surprise John having the time off. Doggie boutique sounds cute. Can't believe we are talking snow already. Ugh.

Lynda...a poetry reading sounds really lovely. Even nicer when it is someone you know.

Judy...you are doing great with STS. When I stopped due to my shoulder the plan was to start up again in the Fall. Now that the Fall is here I have no desire. Right now SB and Cathe Live are working for me. I do miss my lunch time workouts with the ladies - once things calm down at work I will get back to them. The ladies all pretty much stopped too. Need to motivate them again!

Have a great night all! Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Good morning,

Nice day yesterday, good workout at the track, and I got a lot of annoying stuff done around here...cleaned my computer desk, and a couple of kitchen cabinets.

Lynda, maybe you are right...I think I remember now that Doc Martin may start in Jan or Feb. I am looking forward to it. I hope all is ok with your son's job. I probably is, like you said, why would they hire him, knowing about this layoff only to let him go.

Judy, great workout, and your modifications are smart ones. I am ok with those paper plate moves, but never really liked them.

Lori, you are more patient than I am when it comes to vets and getting information. What exactly are they supposed to provide? Blood work results? did they send it to an outside lab? As for the dog boutique, we got a couple of guaranteed indestructible chew toys ( they apparently have not tested them with terriers!) and some very expensive treats. I don't usually spend that much, I use Amazon as you all know...LOL...but they are nice people, trying to get a business off the ground. She even took their pictures for a wall of "the neighborhood dogs" they have. The dogs love the toys, and they are guaranteed for life, if anything happens, all we do is bring it back and they get a new one. I bet you can't wait until that conference is over and things go back to normal. The Lunch Ladies definitely need their coach back! :)

Hi to Josie & Valerie,

A workout, and a visit to the assisted living place with Kylee, or maybe Keegan this time.

Take care,

We are on our way back sooner than planned. Didn't like the Bighorns much. The hiking was nice up high but the overall lower elevation is a major hunting spot. Hunters camps all over. Archery season. Then the weather got wet with snow expected. Not doing a backpack in that. We checked a mt bike spot but again, major hunting . Not 100 yards from the parking lot was a bloody bull elk body in back of a pu truck. Atv trails everywhere but not a safe area to ride imo. Can't always trust books.
We drove thru Yellowstone but weather was awful. Rain wind snow forecast. Saw lots of critters but very busy. Decided to cut our losses and retry fresh in 10 days. Camping was pleasant but overall too much driving, too little rewards.weather was supposed to clear mid day Friday but we'd planned on leaving sat am.

Hi Ladies,

Only woking out with Karina today and maybe a run or spin tomorrow with my friend. Had lunch with my UCLA friends yesterday and things are the same there, but it was nice to see them.

Lori, I agree with Deb, your ladies need you to keep them motivated especially when the time changes and we all get lazy when its dark outside.

Valerie, too bad it was not what you expected, but you need to see it for yourself.

Deb, have a good visit at the assisted living place. They are going to love your babies.

Judy, you need to schedule things and by tickets so that you can get out and do things together. If you leave it up to our DH's it will never happen.

Garance, how was the poetry reading?

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did AB (54:00).

The poetry reading was great. Larry Raab's new collection has been nominated for a National Poetry prize. I love the way he introduces his poems with an anecdote that gives you an idea of how it was inspired. Then I came home and spoiled the evening by watching about 30 minutes of the debate. Ugh! Note to self: STOP WATCHING DEBATES!

I think I will be signing up for a salsa class at the college. Mondays from 5:15-6:15 P.M. Might be fun, and I love to dance.

Judy, it sounds like you have figured out how to make STS legs work for you.

Deb, wow, indestructible chew toys?? Actually, the toy you made and sent to Max has really held up nicely and he loves to tug on it from time to time. I bet they will enjoy either K at the assisted living place.

Valerie, you will have to whip your lunch time class back into shape again. Too bad one of them didn't take a leadership role just to keep things going.

Josie, is your DH also continuing to work out with Karina>
