Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 9/13

Sorry--I meant Lori will have to whip her lunch time class.

Valerie, that sounds like a frustrating trip.

Good evening ladies!

Today was a heavy bag workout using Cathe Live Hardstikes and also her Live fusion kickboxing portion. Was a great workout.

Valerie...so sorry you are coming home sooner than planned. You both were really looking forward to it.

Deb...yes I can not wait for this to be over and have my life get back to normal! It wouldn't be so bad but they keep changing things. Really?? 2 days away?? When my CEO left today he actually paid me a compliment which is unheard of from him! The boutique does sound nice. Cute a picture was taking for the wall! So nice Kylee visits with the assisted living. Wonderful you do this.

Josie...the time change is not far off! After the conference I have told the ladies we are getting back into it.

Lynda...we were streaming the debates for a bit then decided to move on. Glad you liked the poetry reading.

Hi to Judy!

Good morning & Happy Friday!

Yesterday I took Keegan to the assisted living place..he was so excited to be there...and my uncle really had a good time with him.

Valerie, sorry the trip did not work out...that's too bad...I guess you can never predict what you will run into.

Josie, funny....I had lunch with my friend from work Wednesday too....and yes, some things never change.

Lynda, yep...I saw bits of the debate on Yahoo....glad I wasn't watching the whole thing...that little bit was enough. A Salsa class sounds like fun. Kind of like Zumba I would think. This is the toy that I bought for them: so far so good....just a tiny chip out of one...and they have been really going to town on them:

Lori, glad your CEO acknowledged how much work you are doing for this... :). Yes, tell the ladies their break time is almost over. The Task Master will be back with a vengeance. LOL.

Judy, good job on the workouts.

A track workout and later a memorial mass for my aunt...( my cousin's Mom)...

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

Take care,

Got home last around 6. 11 hours of driving. UGH. yes, frustrating! We lost momentum, nothing sounded good. it was colder and wetter than we expected. snow was predicted and it got wet, windy and cold wed and Thursday. elevation was 9000 to 10,000 feet. you get out of breath leaning over to tie your boots!! we didn't expect the hunting atmosphere. we checked for "regular" hunting but didn't look for archery season. apparently very popular there. It's reasonably safe to hike although not in lower elevations people hunt in. the higher elevation areas are hiking only, but surrounded by lower elevation ATV trails, and they were in heavy use. archers need to be close to their target, not likely you'd get "arrowed" accidentally. mt biking .... area had just a token area for biking and it wasn't nice. the elk carcass dripping out of the truck didn't a few yards away didn't get me in a good mood. we saw two moose on our hike, a male and female, very close, maybe 30 feet away, and heard elk bugling. We did enjoy most of it but it turned out to be too much driving, and not enough action.

I didn't watch the debate but have read enough to get the drift of it. and now thanks to the Donald, the whole vaccination/autism business got going again.
I didn't read as much as planned. the elevation makes everything more tiring and it takes about 3 days to acclimate.

Deb, so nice to take the doggies to assisted living. must be fun for everyone.
just found aunt betty has been moved to an adult group home for her last home. everyone is hoping she passes soon.

Lori and judy, almost a guarantee for me..if I don't get enough rest and work too hard, I start up with a sore throat and it goes downhill from there unless I rest for a day or two. I usually recover without getting any sicker.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit with core 1 (49:22).

Deb, I looked up that link on the chew toy. Quite a few reviews saying the thing didn't last for long. Also got a kick out of that posted photo of the crumbles of blue. It sounds like the Doberman and the pit bulls were the best at a royal chew-out. I guess we will just stick to the occasional marrow bone. Max has been very busy lately guarding DH's last batch of chicks. A very aggressive sharp-shanked hawk (aka sharpie) has been dive-bombing them. They are small raptors but very very good fliers and when they go at a bird, it's like a feeding frenzy with feathers flying everywhere. Last year one of them even chased DH into our carport. They make a K-K-K sound DH compares to the dinosaurs--a velociraptor.

Valerie, too bad about the weather and the hunters. Right now we are having absolutely perfect weather--very cool nights in the low 50s, then a nice warmup into the 70s. No hunting yet, so you would probably love the Appalachian Trail or a day hike up to Pine Cobble. Yes, thanks to the Donald we'll have more measles outbreaks, and thanks to Fiorina, we'll get more horror stories about fetuses being torn apart alive at PP. That's when I turned it off.

Lori, what do you know--your boss somehow found it in his bottomless ego to throw out the crumb of a compliment for you. Noblesse oblige on his part? Who knows?

Convocation tomorrow and I want to see Grandma the Lily Tomlin film this weekend.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Good evening ladies!

I wanted a good workout before I left for the conference so decided on Live Triset Legs. I actually did doublesets and then added on a good portion of her Live Upper Body Sculpt. Ended up being an awesome total body workout which is what I needed. Going to be so busy the next few days not sure when or if I will be able to fit in a workout. I told my coworker helping me that I may work out while I am unpacking boxes so if I am doing some odd moves just ignore me...For example...pick up a box do a squat or a deadlift! I know I have issues! But I am the type of person that if I do not work out I get grumpy. Are any of you like this?

Valerie...so sorry about your trip. But I bet it was really nice to see the moose. They are such enormous and beautiful animals. I guarantee by Tuesday I will have no voice!

Deb...hahah the task master! Funny becuase a couple of the ladies have told me recently the can't wait to start back again because they are feeling sluggush again. Told them all the more reason we need to get back to it!

Lynda...you nailed that one alright. I thought the same thing...oh gee thanks for the bone. Not sure I mentioned that one of his sayings that annoys me to no end is "let's go the dollars are waiting on the pennies". What kind of person would say such a thing?

Well, I am all packed...just finished up. We leave the house at 4:15am so will be going to bed soon. My son and his GF are coming. They paid their own expenses of course but taking advantage of our room rate at the Portofino and discounted Universal park passes. It really is a great deal for him and her. Some of our employees take advantage and extend their stay a bit and bring their families. Told my son once he checks in they are on their own until we leave. They certainly will have plenty to do and they will have a great time.

Hi to Josie and Judy! Have a great night all. Will check in at some point!

Lori-I really get grumpy if I don't get my workouts in too. I always say that working out keeps me sane.
Hope you have a great trip!

Good morning & Happy Weekend!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. The mass yesterday was nice, then we went to lunch afterwards.

Valerie, that sounds horrible...especially the long drive and the elk carcass.....I hope the place they moved Aunt Betty to is a nice one and she can rest there, and go peacefully.

Lynda, glad Max is "on the job" :). did you notice on the reviews that had dogs that destroyed the toys were almost all pit bulls? The most powerful chewers there are. There is one little chip out of one of the ones we have...so far...we'll see. If it gets much larger, I guess I will take it back. Waiting for your movie review. :).

Lori, I sure wish I could have a video of your "Unload Boxes" workout! LOL.. That is so funny. I don't get grumpy when I don't work out. I just get lazy and find that I don't feel like doing anything. That's great that your son and GF can go on the trip and get the rates etc. That is how it was when I travelled for work to the association trips. Family members etc were welcome to get the association rates for the hotels etc. Next month John and I will be going to DC and staying at The Ritz ( at the group reduced rate) during the association meeting there. After going there multiple times a year for almost 20 years, I will finally be a tourist in DC :).

A cute video....

Hi Judy, & Josie,

Have a great weekend!

Grumpy! that is the truth. no workouts make for a cranky me. we did a 25 mile ride yesterday and although I got stiff after whenever I sat for a while, I feel much better today. just not built for sitting!
the moose were very cool. we've seen a lot of moose and usually very close. these were sitting/standing near the hiking trail. we saw them as we walked by...... much closer than safe really, but it feels OK. we don't try to get closer. if either had acted aggressive, we would have detoured around. we drove thru Yellowstone and saw the usual assortment. elk, bison, mule deer, pronghorns, sandhill cranes, and a coyote. coyotes are so interesting.... this one was trotting down the road in front of us, and did a little "bluff" charge at a small group of mule deer, probably to see if they were healthy. a car works like a "blind", and you get to see mostly natural behavior. it was windy, rainy, cold and very busy so we didn't stop to do much.
sure is weird how the presidential race is progressing. Fiorina seems to have come out of nowhere. I thought some of the other guys would have dropped out by now. saw a clip where someone was asking the Donald a question about Obama, and the question itself contained all of the silly claims about his "birthplace" and being a muslim and trump just ignored it. acted like it was factual.... a far cry from the John Mccain response.

when you look for dogs as my sister recently had me help her do, you find an amazing % are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. that is the one dog breed I don't trust. Most dobies are very mellow in spite of their reputation. my sister ended up with a german shepherd.

Deb cousin sent pics of the place. it's an alternative to a nursing home. adult group homes. they are becoming popular as a smaller more personalized care option for people at the end, but without needing hospice for pain relief. we hope this doesn't drag on, there is no way for her to improve.
