Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/11

Cathlete
Good morning,

I can't believe its been 15 years since the attack on 9/11...it seems like yesterday...

Well Keegan finally came through and got his first leg towards the title he has been working on. John was really happy. I was glad too since John was getting frustrated and talking about not showing him any more. As for Kylee....let's say her and I both messed up..but hey, there's always today.

Diane Sue, thanks for that info on the tea etc. It sounds like a long process. I may try the store bought ones first. I don't think I have ever seen them here. How is Gertie doing? I think taking a break is going to be good for you. I woke up with a neck/shoulder ache yesterday, I either slept wrong or it is tension/stress. I can't look down or to the right.

Valerie, that is a cute story, and one with a good result. I am sure you neighbor was afraid to call you over, thinking she would be adding to a sad story.

Carolyn, an investment club sounds really interesting! Do you compare things and try out different investments? Does anyone in the club have a financial background or job etc?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend...

Back to the arena for another day...then the tear down etc etc.. maybe Kylee and I will have our heads on straight today. :)

Take care,

Deb, Gertie is much better again. I don't know what is up with the back hip spasms. Iit was fine last night and today. Family brunch today. I will bag up reading material and lunch for court tomorrow. That is it. Yeah for Keegan. I imagine it would be frustrating. Perseverence works:) Good luck today.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live You Can Do Anything for a Minute (50 min.)

Deb, nice to hear about Keegan's success. Good luck today! Max finally has his cone off and is no longer batting into things. He still every now and then wants to lick his incision, but it doesn't look all red and angry anymore.

Diane Sue, maybe a few days off would be therapeutic for you. You do exercise very hard and long and those back hip spasms must feel awful. Jury duty! Ugh! My case lasted so long they had to start paying us.

Our weather is so weird. I woke up to 75 degrees and very humid. Then a big downpour of rain, so now it's in the 60s and we are expecting much cooler temps. We needed the rain and it is September, so a break in HHH seems reasonable.

What I cannot understand about 911 is that on MSNBC they play the whole Today show coverage again every year. I don't understand how this does anything to heal the trauma. If anything, it's like re-living it. I refuse to watch that footage again. I feel like they are braindead or something.

Good morning ladies!

Got home at about 5pm yesterday and was so exhausted. Did not sleep well the entire visit. Good news we received was the cancer has not reached her brain. However, it is in her upper neck which means it is going there. She went on a different chemo pill so we will see if this slows it done. I am going to try and get there again before the end of the year.

Today is my 55th bday. So hard having a bday on 9/11. Hard to get in a great mood when reminded what happened 15 years ago. I am fortunate to still have a birthday when so many lost their lives. I do try and celebrate for them.

Today I started 90 day Xtrain rotation. First up was Chest, Back and Shoulders. Forgot how much I loved the music in Xtrain. Even though they are makeovers they put me in such a great mood! I do realize there will be no way I can abstain from Cathe Live and SB so I will sub in now and then.

Lynda...how did your legs feel after the band and glide workout? Was unbelievely windy here this morning with rain. Lasted about 20 minutes. Then it stopped and this afternoon has been sunny, warm and beautiful. We have not taken down our pool yet and we may go in for a dip it is that nice out.

Valerie... Cute cat story. Puss just makes himself at home!!! Nice that your neighbor called you and allows him to eat the food. Very nice neighbors.

Diane Sue...oh those allergies! When do they finally fade away? Or is there a different allergy for every season? I feel for people with allergies. So sorry. Good luck at jury duty tomorrow especially not feeling well. Hopefully you will be home reallt quick.

Judy...we decided to wait until we retire then move south. Makes sense financially for us too. Whic JD dvd's did you get? Love the 10pounds down better body blast. Great add ons or when short on time and want to get something in.

Deb...how are you feeling? Yeah for Keegan! Fingers crossed for Kylee!!! Would you mind sending me your Xtrain spreadsheets? I must have deleted them in error as I can't find them at all. I found a used one that was all marked up but was better than nothing.

Carolyn...my pushups are on the knees too and I also need light weights for certain shoulder moves. Today I did the lateral shoulder circles and used 5lbs. No way could I match the 8lbs Cathe used.

Hi to Josie and Caitlin!

Have a great afternoon all!!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday we went to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. We wanted to see the Beatles exhibit, "The Magical History Tour". It was a nice exhibit, but very crowded so hard to see everything. We also got to walk around the rest of the museum. So much to see there. We will have to go back again.

Today I did KCM Plateau Buster. I did both workouts then I added XTrain 100 Rep Tricep Challenge.

Deb- I hope you are feeling better. Great that Keegan did so well. I hope you and Kylee have a better day today.

Valerie-that was a cute story!

Lori-That's good news. I hope that the new medicine works well for Madeline. It would be hard to have a birthday on
September 11. I hope you have a good one! The Jessica Smith dvds I got are "Walk On-6 Mile Mix" and "Walk Strong-Build Balance & Inner Strength:. I'll probably try one this week.

Diane Sue- I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Lynda-it rained most of the day yesterday and is much cooler here today.

Hi to Josie, Carolyn & Caitlin!

Judy

Feeling better today. Yesterday I think I used a half box of tissue. I took extra vitamin C, went back to drinking lemon juice squeezed into water to help thin stuff, added an extra scoop of my antioxidant Amazing Grass green super food and used saline rinses. Oh, and I took the D-Hist supplement which is two capsules after uploading for a few days. Hardly any tissues today and very little coughing.

Lynda, I am hoping that they do not want me for a court case. One I was interviewed for was obviously a drug case from the questions the attorneys asked. They dismissed me after asking a few questions about what my husband did. There was another that I actually went in to, I think they chose the jurors before they got to me because we went to lunch and came back and the rest of us were dismissed. The others, I never got called in to where they interviewed for jurors. I just sat in the main room all day. It is cooler here today after the rain we just had. It has still bee getting up into the 90's. So the cool breeze feels so nice right now. I am sure Max feels free after getting the cone off.

Lori, Happy Birthday. I hope that you enjoyed your day even though it is a day of remembering sadness. That is good news that Madeleine 's cancer has not spread to the brain. I hope the new medicine will help. My allergies re most of the year. Just different allergens. When it freezes it will be better for awhile.

Judy, the museum sounds like it would make for a pleasant day. I really enjoy museums.

Deb, our investment club doesn't have anyone with a financial background. We were a group of friends and colleagues who wanted to learn more about investing. We research companies based on a specific information and present at the meeting. Each person has one assigned stock from our portfolio to follow and report to the group. We have learned so much and made long lasting friendships.

Lynda, I made the pork tenderloin recipe that you mentioned from Epicurious and it was delicious. Thanks for telling us about it.

Happy birthday Lori.

Judy, I really like that KCM Plateau Buster workout.

Hi to Valerie, Diane Sue, Josie, and Caitlin.

Good Morning,
Today was ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast followed by Suzanne Bowen's Barre Power Stretch. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both Sweat workouts (46:13).

Carolyn, I'm glad you enjoyed that recipe! That investment club sounds both fun and educational. I remember a Today show ages ago where they interviewed an investment club like that--just ordinary people trying to learn about stocks and how to be a savvy investor.

Deb, there was some kind of dog show on television last night with dogs competing on agility, on leaping off over water to get hold of a suspended cylinder for retrieval, frisbee competition, and finally surfing. Very entertaining! Made me think of you and your Keegan and Kylee. Amazing dogs!

Lori, I did feel some doms in my glutes from that workout--that opening section of gliding legs in multiple directions. Yes, I can imagine a birthday on 9/11 would be hard to celebrate. You will have to choose another day for yourself--one that you have good memories about.

Diane Sue, what works for me if I feel a cold coming on are the Zicam quick melts. They taste a bit like an orange creamsicle and go down a lot faster than the cold-eez lozenges I used to suck on. They also really work. Hope you are quickly excused from jury duty. By the way, there was a feature on 60 minutes last night about the increase in earthquakes in Oklahoma. The increase has to do with the infusion of waste water deep underground in oil production.

Judy, you would probably love this area--we have a lot of museums--two in Williamstown, one in North Adams, two in Stockbridge, two in Bennington. Some of them are small and nice for a two-hour visit, while others you can spend a whole day visiting.

Feels a bit like fall today.

No workout today. My son in law picked me up plenty early for jury duty. It saved me the long last minute line of people getting scanned before they go into the court house. I thought I may be on a murder case but they let me go late this afternoon. I have to go back tomorrow though just in case any of the cases need a back up juror. I was relieved because it was mentioned that we would be viewing video and listening to audio. I was afraid of what I was going to be viewing. They gave me a slip of paper to take back to the juror waiting room and I guess they drew out names again. My son in law took me to lunch at a small Thai restaurant. It was beautiful out and we walked. It was a nice much needed break from sitting. He said there was a new bagel restaurant we would go to tomorrow. I loved the authentic Thai food. It was buffet style so I had a variety to try :) I got a bit of workout taking the stairs from the fifth floor down to ground floor and back a few times. Then the walk at lunch.

Carolyn, the Barre Amped Power Stretch is the one I did when my lower back and hip started having painful spasms. I don't think that is what caused it though. I bent over again to tie my shoes this morning and it started in for a bit. Not as bad. I was worried that I was going to have problems hobbling around the court house.

Lynda, I have some Zicam. I guess I did not think to use it. I have some throat drops I got from Sprouts that have zinc in them. I didn't even realize they had zinc till I noticed that my taste buds were sort of messed up. I did well today though. Even the allergies have improved. I think because the rain helped with the ragweed floating around. We saw that 60 minutes episode. They keep talking about ways to keep our oil economy and take care of the problem. I feel so sorry for the people that have no earthquake insurance and cannot afford to fix the damage. Most homes that are built around here are brick or brick and stone mix. That does not work well with earthquakes. My daughter's home is partly underground and they move the children upstairs when the shaking starts.

Good evening ladies...

No workout this morning. Needed to leave for work early, Our conference is in 3 weels and I can not wait until it is over!!!! Came home and was tired but still managed to do Xtrain Cardio Leg Blast. I know I have only done 2 workouts so far but I am really enjoying it.

Judy....I would have loved that Beatle exhibit. Too bad it was so crowded. I love the 100 rep challenges. Imlove fitting them in every now and then. I am finding the 2 JS Walk Stong sets I bought for the ladies have nothing to do with walking. We love them though!

Diane Sue...that is great you are feeling better. Hoping you were home early today.

Carolyn...your group sounds wonderful. You been meeting for 16 years? I think this is what I read earlier. That is amazing. Great workouts today.

Lynda...I really liked the gliding workout in the beginning. This will be a great travel workout. I have never taken Zicam. Will have to look into them.

Have a great night all!

Good morning,

Sorry to be MIA.....after the trial ended on Sunday, I came home and started with diarrhea....(hope not TMI)......It kept me up almost the whole night, so yesterday I basically slept most of the day...off and on the couch, in and out of the bathroom. It seemed to be gone, but started again around 3:30 this morning. If it continues, I guess another call to the DR. *sigh*...

Kylee and I almost made it on Sunday...she was doing wonderfully, and had about 15 seconds left in the "out of site, down stay, ( the dogs are put in a down stay together in the ring, and the handlers go out of site for 5 minutes). She had an itch apparently, and popped up to scratch with only 15 seconds left. Oh well...when you have to scratch, you have to scratch. Keegan was his old "I don't want to be here" sefl...nuff said.

Diane Sue, glad to hear Gertie is better, but not that you have those spasms again. :( I think you need to take some time off and let whatever it is heal. Good that you got your allergies a bit under control. I hope they excuse you soon.

Lynda, good that Max finally has his cone off. I agree, they don't need to keep showing the horror of 9/11...it just keeps bringing back memories.

Lori, Happy Birthday! Yes, you should celebrate your life, and those that lost theirs...good news about Madeleine. I hope this new chemo med helps. Will send you the x-Train spreadsheets as soon as I sign off here.

Judy, that museum sounds great. We went to the Ford-Edison museum in Florida....apparently Ford and Edison were great friends. I never knew that until we were down there for a work thing and looking for something to do in our off time. Check out Ebay for Jessica Smith DVD's...

Carolyn, that investing group sounds really great!

I guess another day of rest for me....hope this is over soon...

Take care,

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Last week was a hard week, my DB Juan was on my mind and I guess subconsciously I had put the date out of my head. He died 26 years ago, but it still hurts as much as the day it happened. He died on September 10th. On Sunday I woke up to the news that a dear friend of mine passes away on the 10th of pancreatic cancer. I had just wished him a happy 60th birthday on August 17th and now he is gone.

Lori, happy belated birthday! Glad that Madeline is doing better and that you got to see her.

I will be back when I'm in a more cheerful mood.

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live PHAT 2 (45 min.).

Deb, sorry the pups didn't come through yesterday. It must be very frustrating when Keegan shows up for work one day and stays home the next. Same question as Diane Sue--are the meds for heartburn causing the diarrhea possibly?

Josie, so sorry to hear about your friend. Did you know how far along the cancer was when you spoke with him on 8/17?

Diane Sue, crossing my fingers this is your last day of sitting around waiting to hear your fate. I don't think I could do very well at a murder trial either. I would probably not be able to sleep.

Lori, is this like the conference you organized last year? At least you like your new boss a lot better.

I'm not ready for fall. Too chilly in the mornings and I want to stay in sandals and sundresses and shorts.

Hi Everyone,
Today's workout was Boot Camp Circuit, another great one. I preordered the Strong and Sweaty workouts. I always hesitate because I think the workouts will be too advanced, but I usually cave and order anyway! I have found that I can modify most of Cathe's workout if I need to do so and she is so motivating.

Deb, I hope you feel better soon. I wonder if you are reacting to the medication.

Diane Sue, maybe you will be released from jury duty today. The rest from working out is probably a good for your body. Your workouts sound pretty intense and long!

Josie, I am sorry for your sadness and the loss of your friend.

Today is my birthday, but we don't have anything planned. We have the cardiologist appointment this afternoon.

Hi to everyone.

Deb, I was reading up on side effects of reflux meds and they can cause diahrea along with other health problems.

Lynda, it is not chilly here. It feels wonderful in the mornings. It is back up to low 90's. That courthouse is freezing cold. I have to take a coverup. I sat in the front next to the judge and was trying hard to not let my teeth chatter.

Josie, I am sorry that the date brings reminders and cause sadness.

I got off jury duty early but they called my name to come back tomorrow for another court case on the dockett. I hope this sitting waiting does not keep going more days past tomorrow.

Carolyn, I am not minding the rest too much [emoji4]

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did KCM- The Shape Of Things To Come and today I did Cathe's Muscle Endurance.

Deb- I hope you are feeling better soon. It does sound like a side effect of the medicine.
There are some Edison exhibits at the Henry Ford museum here. I think we are going back soon as there is so much more to see.

Carolyn-Happy Birthday! Plateau Buster is my favorite KCM.

Josie-I am sorry :(

Lori-I'm planning on doing one of the Ruthless workouts tomorrow and maybe one of the JS ones for something different.

Diane Sue-It got up to the low 80's here today, but I'm afraid it might be the last really warm day this year. The forecast looks like it will be cooling off now.

Hi to Lynda, Valerie & Caitlin!
