Good morning,

Workouts will still be on hold for me.. I am on a clear liquid diet for 2 days, then soft food only for a bit.

Carolyn, yes, the reflux/heartburn issue has been pretty good for a few weeks. Then this happened. I don't think they are connected, but who knows? Is it a coincidence that you and Diane Sue have the same phone provider and have issues? Maybe its AT&T, and not the phone? I guess Diane Sue's was the phone after all.

Lori, good that you find subs for the P90X that work for you. Yes, it is YOUR workout! I mentioned that maybe stress could have been why this happened, but the NP kind of shook that off.

Diane Sue, glad your phone issue is cleared up.

Valerie, I had my tonsils out at 2....don't really remember it :). No, no milkshakes...:)....it is supposed to be clear liquids. Also saw this in a colonoscopy, but have never had a flare up before.

Judy, I remember liking High Step Circuit a lot. Same here,,,I have never had to stay in a hospital. It could be the stress....and I admit, I have been very bad with eating lately...

The usual for me today...take care of dogs, and try to get rest...

Take care,

Today is family day. I have a lot of tasks tonget done when i get back. Thevchildren will be over in the morning to stay the week. I wanted to set up the small pool for them. Itvis going to be off again on again rain all week. I could take them to the neighborhood pool , but the 3 year old worries me. I guess i will see how it goes.

Judy, High Step circuit is another fun workout. I have had a couple of surgery stays in a hospital other tha child birth. Not something i would like to repeat.

Deb, i hope that you feel better soon. Clear liquids is not much to go on. How are the dogs doing?

Valerie, that is good that the appliance repair has plenty of service people. I remember my daughter and granddaughter having their tonsils out at the same time. I would think out payient and going home is better. Almost everything is out patient now. My knee surgery was out patient. I would much rather recover at home. They really try to get you out quick though. I have had a couple of times, quite some time ago, that i was still so out of it and couldnt walk. I think they are a bit better with recovery now.

yes deb, clear liquids are like a colonoscopy prep. I would think you can have any color liquid... so juices would be Ok. I imagine jello would be also, although after colonoscopy prep, twice for myself and about 5 times for DH, I can't stand even the thought of jello. liquids only kill off any desire for working out. bear with it and you will be done soon.
I really enjoy Outshine bars. that is the west coast product name anyway. sometimes things have different names east versus west. they come in a lot of fruit flavors and some have vegies. some have small pieces of fruit in them so you need to check each flavor. many are not overly sweetened and if color doesn't matter, some should be OK for a clear liquid diet. I remember the last scoping DH had, I tried to find popsicles, but most had red colors so weren't OK, and plain popsicles seemed to have become an endangered product.

I did High reps plus abs again last night. I don't know why I didn't like that workout at first. maybe going too heavy with weight?. this one is better with lighter weights with the fast speed and lots of partials.

I had outpatient knee surgery 14-15 years ago. I much prefer that approach ... but there is the assumption you have someone to bring you in, take you home, and help you around for at least a day or two. I got around Ok when anesthetic wore off, but I was in good shape to begin with. people with other health issues might not be OK "in and out" like that. I know it's a money saver and most people would like to be at home but I had to go up steps right away to get in the house and vomited up the juice they gave in the recovery room. not the only time that has happened but cleaning things up was not something I could have done for a while.

Today was a planned rest day. Deb, I hope you are feeling better today. A liquid diet is no fun. I don't think my husband's phone problems are an AT&T issue. It is a software problem for the phone. When researching the issue we found many people with the same problem.

Judy, the abs section from KPC uses the stability ball. Stretch Max was my go to flexibility workout for a long time. I still like to pull it out occasionally.

Diane Sue, we usually get insurance on the phones so I'm not sure why we didn't this last time. My husband is very hard on his phones!

I hope everyone had a nice day.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday...Except for some laundry, I pretty much just read and stayed on the couch.

Diane Sue, you will be having a busy week! I hope the weather cooperates. The dogs are doing better. Kylee is back to normal, Keegan is better, but sometimes its a struggle to get him to eat and take the meds.

Valerie, those popsicles sound good, except for the ones with bits of fruit/vegs. Today I can start on soft foods. I had some cottage cheese and it tasted wonderful. I hope it helps me as I have been getting really nauseated without eating some food. They hardly keep you in the hospital for anything now a days. Sixteen years ago I had a microdiskectomy (sp) for a herniated disk and was sent home the same day.

Carolyn, that is so frustrating, and then you find out that many people are having the same issue...I hope you get it resolved quickly.

Have a great day!

Deb I think you'd like the bars. They are very fruity flavored and not overly sweet the lime ones are quite tart. Each flavor varies a little in calories, from 60 to 100 I never tried the ones that have veggie juice mixed in but they are smaller and less calories I bought a package of mixed flavors last week but haven't had one yet. I keep thinking they might be Dreyers brand in the east but here they are Outshine

Garden day yesterday. We are in a drought this summer. No measurable rain in almost two months. It is scary dry out there. We are going to my bike today if the air we can't hike until it cools off and the bug level goes down which maybe a while

I started STS today. I decided that I was trying for perfect timing and preparation which is not necessary. I did disc 1 and the extended stretch. Time for main workout was 1 hour and 12 minutes. I hope to have fewer pauses as I get more comfortable with the program.

Deb, I hope you are able to tolerate more foods today. The popsicles/bars that Valerie mentioned sound good. There are so many choices now instead of plain fruit bars. I was planning to make some for my grandchildren when they were here but we ran out of time.

Waves and good wishes to everyone.

Today I did Intensity with part of the bonus that kept freezing on me till I gave up and did the stretch, 65 minutes, 415 calories. I then did Strong and Sweaty Abs, 13 minutes, 59 calories. Total time 78 minutes, 474 calories. The children sure keep me busy. Olivia brought some art stuff. She loves Manatees and her mother slipped in a canvas with a manatee on it. I need to decide what medium would be best after some past experience. Apparently my husband Bill brought me some stuff for my birthday that arrived today. I wondered why there was an extra package in the mail. I saw the packing slip but did not open the packages. OOPS!! Jewelry and shoes :D (from the packing slip) Now I know why he was questioning my granddaughters shoe size when I was looking for her in relation to mine. We had a whole conversation on shoe sizes.
Muffin and Gertie are getting along fine. Gertie was so excited having her come. Now they are just lounging around.

Valerie, I have seen Outshine Bars here in our stores in Oklahoma. I am not thrilled with frozen treats. The only ones I have liked were a coconut bar. I have a friend I have been helping with her nutrition that is predominantly vegetarian other than eggs and she has been eating the Outshine bars. Much better than popsicles. My daughter has been trying to avoid her children having artificial colors and particularly red dyes in their diet. I had to shop carefully at Sprouts and Walmart. Organic with no artificial colors or ingredients. We ended up with some blueberry kidz z twists. The 3 year old always asks for fruit snacks when he comes over and I have to search them out. I should try making my own fruit leather I guess.

Deb, when I read on the Samsung site, I saw that the company designs the updates for their problems and the carrier puts that update out at their own time period. Anyway, the updates would be Samsung's doing. Odd though, when we had T Mobile and the Samsung Galaxy S5, there was never a problem. I guess I did not have an added SD card though. The only other phone that I ever had a problem with was the iphone an it crashed from an update. AT&T just wanted to sell me another phone. That is when we changed phones and carriers, going to T Mobile.
No way would I try working out on a clear liquid diet. You may be able to do something light when you get some soft food down, but even then it would not be much. You will need to get your body built back up again. I know you probably do not need to lose weight,so it shouldn't be a problem resting. We had rain yesterday morning and then it was nice enough we rode the motorcycle for a little while. I had a lot of prep for the "littles:" coming over to get done. The forcast has changed a bit so today and tomorrow should be sunny. Hopefully it changes for Thursday when the 6 year old will be here as well. I told him to bring swim clothes.

Carolyn, STS is a really good program. I wanted to get back into it, but the neck and shoulder thing has slowed that down. Now I am thinking maybe a month weight rotation of some sorts after that goes away. This has happened before and it seems to come with a lot of hard coughing and trying to sleep comfortably. Although upper work aggravates the spasms. Yoga Quick Fix and those tune up balls sure does help though.

Maybe they are Outshine bars everywhere. I bought a package that has strawberry, raspberry and lime. haven't tried any yet, still using the lime ones from last year. the coconut one was the highest calorie I noticed, think it was 120 or so. I had either peach or mango before but one flavor was too bland, and I don't remember which one it was. these are much lighter than ice cream bars and no artificial sweetener. DH doesn't like them so a package lasts me a long time. he is a root beer float kind of guy.

Caroline congrats on getting right in there and doing it. I liked STS a lot and I agree, it's nice if you have no interruptions, but I did and it didn't interfere that much. I'd pick up where I left off, maybe spend an extra week without moving on.

we rode our 26 miler this morning, 2 hrs 10.

this is just too funny. Our new entrance gate is out of service. some girl got dropped off at 1 am, didn't remember the entrance code, and could not get in so she lay down on the ground and pushed the gate with her feet. we have video of her but no one knows if she lives here for sure, but she will be responsible for the bill if she's located.

Good evening ladies!

We did our hike yesterday. We ended up cutting it down a bit because I kept falling! Was really damp from all the rain so it was extemely slippery and not enjoyable for me. My left side really took a beating....Fell twice on my left wrist, landed hard on my left knee and smashed my left shin into a rock and ended up with some scrapes, bumps and a large bruise. Just thankful no sprains or breaks. GiGi had a splendid time though. My son felt bad for me. He slipped a couple of times but never landed as hard as I did. We hiked for about 2.5 hours and that was plenty.

Deb...it must be hard to workout when you are on a liquid diet. You'll get back to it once you are feeling better. Take some time and relax. Hoping all is well soon. Good your acid reflux seems to have calmed down.

Valerie...pretty sure we have those Outshine bars here too. That is crazy with your gate! Hasn't been there very long!

Carolyn...congrats on starting STS. And good for you starting with meso 1. This was my least favorite of the 3. When Nicholas and I start we are staring with meso 2. We are in our 3rd week already with p90x. Although, today needed to be a rest day because I am so sore from yesterdays beat up! We decided to pick up with Chest and Back tomorrow.

Diane Sue...so fustrating when workouts freeze! I love everything Coconut so I am sure I would love those bars! It must be so hard to bring children up these days with no artificial colors. I bet the kids are a workout in themselves.

Judy...wow for Chris to be in the hospital for a few weeks it must have been a really terrible accident. Poor kid at that age.

Have a great night all!

Lori-I just asked Chris about his accident and he said he was in the hospital for a week. I had misunderstood. It was a pretty bad crash though. He had a concussion and lots of scrapes. It was probably 1967 or 68. I imagine now they would have just sent him home and told his parents to keep an eye on him. Ironically, the hospital he stayed in was St. Christopher's.

Judy that is lovely Chris was taken care of appropriately. hospitals are dangerous places, now more so than 40 years ago. that was probably a good thing to do. head injuries in a kid need to be monitored.
My DH was hit in the head when he was a kid, knocked unconscious. his parents did nothing... put him to bed and then went out bowling ( really) for the evening. when I say they were cheap, I am not kidding. he was a little kid!. they are both passed on now, but I almost can't believe parents could be so cavalier about a kid who is "out cold" . it turned out Ok but wow. now, my parents would have taken me to the hospital, but then grounded me for a year for being so stupid as to get hit in the head and knocked out. there was nothing that happened that was not 'your fault.... and you should have known better".

Valerie, that is too bad about the gate. I wonder if the girl lived there. I think I might like peach or even raspberry if they are just fruit. Then again I would rather eat the fruit. I like lime flavor in water.

Lori, glad that you were not hurt too badly during your hike. That sounded like a rough hike. I will have to see if there is something on the dvd. I was playing it in my new player and have never had a problem with that one and have used it a lot. I usually get well over 10,000 steps in when I have the younger grandchildren. I find myself called up or downstairs for help with all kinds of things.

Judy, that is quite a long time to be in the hospital. They used to put people in the hospital for even minor things. I was embarrassed once when the doctor put me in the hospital to remove 14 small warts on my fingers and one large they had to cut out and put stitches in under my fingernail. I guarantee they would not do that now. My husband had a bad pneumonia that kept him in the hospital for 8 days once. We were not sure he was going to recover. Talk about a major weight loss.

Good morning,

Still no workout, on soft foods now. Seeing my PCP this morning.

Valerie, just curious, what is the sugar content of those bars? I hope they find that girl that did that to the gate...couldn't she call someone at her house if she did in fact live there?

Carolyn, good for you for starting STS!

Diane Sue, Happy Birthday... jewelry & shoes....nice! had this DVD ever froze before? That is so frustrating. How is it going with the grandkids?

Lori, ouch! I hope you are ok from those falls.

Judy, yes, 40 years ago staying in the hospital was a normal thing. Definitely would be sent home today.

Take care,

Lori sometimes things don't work as planned and it's best to cut your losses! We have bailed on more than a few hikes or rides when conditions weren't good. Come back another day when conditions are better.
There is a "problem house" rented by the previous owners girlfriend. She or a family member put their personal entry code on Fb before a supposed private party. Never mind there were several easy ways to let friends in for a party but she didn't do that. Why follow procedures we were all informed of?? guessing someone from this house will turn out to be the person forcing the gate open. Originally she tried to use the house as a commercial wedding party site in total violation of HOA cc&r. The gate has massively reduced traffic. The tape shows tons of cars pulling up and being turned away. We had no idea half the traffic thru here had no good reason to be here except cruising for opportunities.

ETA, Deb the bars come in 2 shapes. the ones I bought are like a "single" popsicle size rather than a larger bar size. they are smaller with fewer calories, 35-to 50. 9 gms of added sugar. no fat. a tangy low cal snack when DH is chowing down a root beer float. I found the bigger bars were more than I wanted. they are left from last year. they are not a nutritional powerhouse but cold and tangy. there are a lot of new frozen treats this year.

the girl ( probably) lives here in the problem house. I don't know if she's been ID'd for sure. she could have used the guest check in and called her home. someone could have buzzed her in, or she could have used a secondary code we were all given. but no. I have not heard how she damaged the gate, but they have video of her on the ground, pushing on it with her feet at 1 am. Great.
we were given repeated information on how the gate system would work, a meeting, plus printed materials. what an idiot! she posts her personal entry number on fb with no restrictions. that was taken down pretty quickly. the board says they will issue another code but two strikes and you're out.

Today I did Body Max 2 Cardio Only premix. Workout time was 48 minutes with 342 calories burned. Average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 153.

Diane Sue, several of the STS discs were freezing up when I started to preview last week. I wiped them with a soft cloth to remove what seemed like some type of residue and they work fine now. I was in a panic for a short time and I thought that I would have to contact customer service for replacements. I am so glad that I didn't have to do that. I had no problem with them freezing before.

Lori, it sounds like you were determined to get part of your hike done. I'm glad that you were not seriously hurt.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a Spinerval and today I did Basic Step, Upper Body Sculpting, & Stability Ball Abs.

Deb-I hope your dr. appt went well today. Are you feeling better?

Lori-I'm sorry the hike didn't go well. I hope you aren't too sore.

Valerie-That's terrible about your DH! I'm with you, I can't believe his parents weren't more concerned and that they would leave him alone after being knocked out.
I've seen the Outshine bars here in Michigan too, but I haven't tried them.

Diane Sue-I hate it when workouts freeze. It's happened with a few of my older DVDs, some of the Spinervals that I've had a long time. I also had that problem with one of the Body Beast DVDs when it was new. I was able to clean it and got it working, otherwise I would have tried to get a replacement.

Carolyn-It's great that you are doing STS! I am tentatively planning a strength rotation for September & October.

Judy

Today I did Ice Chiseled Lower Body, 49 minutes, heart rate 122 avg./max 155, 324 calories. I then did Ice Muscle Meltdown Biceps using 15# dumbbells, 17 minutes, 55 calories, heart rate 100 avg./123 max. Total time was 66 minutes, calories 379.

Deb, I hope things went well with your PCP today. I have never had that dvd section freeze before. When I get a chance I will try cleaning it and see if that is the problem/ The grandkids seem to be having fun. I took them out front today and let them ride their bikes around the center island in our street. They had races. They played in the pool the last two afternoons. We are going to the library tomorrow. It was terribly hot sitting outside with them today. Olivia was riding the spin bike today which she does all of the time when watching movies. She did not have shoes on and some how had the underside of her toe nail bleeding and cut across the bottom of her toe. I was surprised she still managed to put on shoes and ride her bike. I found her some slipper socks to help cushion bumps walking around the house.

Valerie, is there not a penalty for breaking HOA rules. That is amazing that the gate has turned away so many people. Our HOA sends out quarterly letters with rules to keep in mind at certain times and changes etc.. If something new comes up they put it out and the put up signs reminding of the meetings. That is ridiculous that she would put the gate code on fb. How inconsiderate even if there was not rules set up.

Carolyn, good that wiping the discs worked. I think that even Cathe's has a time limit on replacing dvds. I had a problem once with Beach Body on a Les Mills Combat dvd that I had only done a few times due to my knee surgery. They refused me for replacement since it was past 90 days. My coach contacted them though and they replaced the dvd. That is a good premix on Body Max 2. I have used it a lot.

Judy, my Yoga Tune Up dvd does not want to play all of the 5 minute segment for neck on the upper body dvd. I have wiped it and got it to play a few times. It did it again to me the other day. I also have pulled out older ones and had problems with some that cleaning helped. I hate that to happen to my favorite workouts.

Good evening ladies,

My son is not liking the early morning workouts! He would prefer his sleep so to stay with the workouts we are doing P90X in the evening. This is fine with me. I just did my bouncing this morning. So this morning was a BBS Tramp workout followed up with a 15 min power jump premix I made. Tonight was Chest and Back. Total workout time was 82 mins / 490 cal.

Judy...when you are 8 years old in the hospital for a week it must have felt like a lifetime! Wow glad he recovered fine. Concussions can be terrible. good workout today, great combinations.

Diane Sue...I can see how you would have over 10,000 steps when you have your grandchildren! I have now converted all my workout dvd's to digital and I am loving it. I do not even have a dvd player hooked up anymore. I disconnected and put in the basement. I have an external hard drive plugged into my TV and it is so easy to select my workout and hit play.

Valerie..my left shin looks horrible! Black and blue and scraped. Good thing it looks worse than what it is. I bet with all your hiking you have run into unpleasant hikes. This was the first time it was not enjoyable. But like I said previously...GiGi loved it! They need to take care of that problem house...really? Posted code on Facebook?? Omg! That is terrible about your husband. Glad he had no serious issues

Carolyn...I remember liking one of the Body Max workouts. I think I had the first one on VHS so this may be the one. I remember the complete workout being so long!

Deb...hoping your appt went well today. Thinking of you.

Have a great night all!

Lori, I would rather do the cardio work earlier and the weights later if I had to split up my workouts. That is cool how you have all of your workouts set up with an external drive. Nice way to play them. Do you have them set up in folders? My downloads are in folders. I need to eventually put instructors and then folders of sets.
