Good morning,

Well the 8am-10 am time slot for the plumber to show up actually turned into him showing up at 2:00 pm....thankful we did not have anyone over or anything like that planned for yesterday...it would have been awful. The good thing was that I was pretty much stuck in the house and got all my "list" completed, and then some.

Lori, celebrating life is a wonderful way to spend time with Madeline. Positive thinking and people around her that love her is what she needs most now,

Judy, did you get a bike ride in yesterday? Does your DH enjoy riding? That's typical about the gym, and how you can't trust anyone in those situations. It's sad too, what the times have come to.

Valerie, can you be put on a "waiting list" for an AC unit at those stores? I guess we have a different garage door system than most...our opener is just that....you press the button and the door opens...if it got lost around the house, it would be horrible...someone could get in immediately. If it was lost somewhere else, no one would know which garage it went to...unless it was in my purse or something and they also got ID with an address. We have codes on the keypad that is right on the frame of the garage that we use to open without the opener. Changing that code would not do anything to prevent the opener from working. Strange. The plumber charged $200...(they had a on-line $40 off coupon)...not bad for coming out on a Saturday, and it being the 4th of July as well.

Hi to Lynda, Dawn, & Josie,

Not sure what is up for today, John mentioned going fishing...he deserves it after what he has gone through for the last couple days...maybe I will do more weeding...lovely.

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

We didn't go for a bike ride yesterday. DH got caught up in projects around the condo. I decided to do some extra core work so I did 2 segments of Core Max, the one with the medicine ball and stability ball, and the one with no equipment. Then I did XTrain Core 2. After that I did Pyramid Lower Body. We might go for a bike ride today.

Deb-yes it is sad. I think of how I did things 10 years ago, when I still lived in Iowa and how I do things now, always having to watch out for thieves or con artists.

Valerie-we also lock the door between the garage and the condo. Just in case someone managed to break into the garage they wouldn't be able to just walk in. Yes, while it was easy to replace the stolen heart rate strap, that was sort of a defining moment for me. I had only been here a couple of weeks and unfortunately that really gave me a bad attitude toward the Detroit area and I learned to be very cautious and distrustful.

Hi to Lori, Lynda, Josie & Dawn,

Judy

Hi all--

This morning I did about 60 min. of SB.

Lori, it sounds like Madeleine is going into her treatments with great courage and hope. I'm sure your love will be a great strength for her.

Deb, not the best way to spend a holiday, for sure! Wouldn't you know it--the weathermen changed their forecast at the last minute so yesterday was rain. A lot of very upset farmers who cut hay. DH managed to get most of his in by working until 8:30 P.M. on Friday night, but he heard a great deal of grousing from other farmers at the farmers' market on Saturday.

Judy, I think you would be pleasantly surprised by Rancho la Puerta. Everyone carried some cash around for tipping the spa treatment people and would leave their bags in a big pile in the workout rooms. Nothing stolen. I know that there is a lot of thievery among the students here and people are constantly cautioned about their computers, their gym lockers, etc. It's always very disappointing when you feel like you should be in a safe place and then discover that you are not. It's tiring to be vigilant all the time.

Valerie, I guess you could get a big bucket of ice and have a fan blowing over it to cool off at night. I bet you could get an AC from Amazon pretty quickly too.

Sounds like we are in for a spell of hot weather here.

I actually got sleep last night although it was incredibly loud and obnoxious. adults apparently lose sense of decency and common sense..... it is so dry out there!. there have been literally hundreds of small and large fires many due to fireworks. we got thru unscathed, no thanks to our neighbors, some of whom need to get their heads examined. all kinds of aerial crap flying all over. every year I am scared to death. we have more trees than most, and they are big. no way would a garden hose work if something got started.

Rode again this morning, just 15 miles. going to be very hot again today, and was warm by the time we finished around 8:45.

I used to be more trusting. I carry my important stuff in a waist pack and don't trust anyone anymore. I mean, really, what could someone get out of some else's HRM strap? ?? we are not careless but yes, constant vigilance gets wearing. our previous truck was broken into when it was brand new. someone broke into the canopy, then into the truck and took a chain saw. it was a junker saw that we carried to make sure we could get back down the road. not worth anything really, barely ran. they did a lot of damage to the canopy and to the truck cab window all to get a saw worth almost nothing.

we reprogrammed the GD opener so if the thief returns it won't work. Not that hard but had to get out the ladder. we ordered a new opener unit from amazon. always something. Next to make sure DH puts it in a better place on his mower. It's not mostly violent with shootings and abductions, just this constant, nagging dread hanging over things. tweakers and heroin junkies. will steal anything.

Lynda, we need to see the AC units and how they fit into a window. we will not have an ideal set up no matter what, and would need to run a fan to circulate the air. might all be too cumbersome. If we can look at a unit in person, then I'd have no issue with ordering from amazon.

Good afternoon ladies!

Today I walked 2.5 miles and then did only the kickboxing from Cathe Live Kickboxing and Barre and I used 1lb weights. Yesterday I did SB's Total Body Classic Barre 2 and her Standing Abs. I also walked 2.5 miles. My DS has been joining me in my usual morning walks when I visit here so it is nice to have company. Feels good to continue to workout.

Deb...please email to my yahoo email your address and I'll send you the cables when I return. I do not think it is necessary to have an HD unless you want to watch the streaming in HD then you would use the HDMI cable. My old basement TV is a huge projection TV and it worked fine to stream from my Ipad 2. However, there have been many apple software updates that have gone out. I have since upgraded both the TV and Ipad so not sure it this would be an issue now. I'll try the cables with my DH Ipad 2 and see if it works. Wow! 2pm. Thank goodness you did not have anything planned. Hope John had a nice time fishing.

Valerie...so sorry you have to deal with all that crime in your area. We certainly have our fair share but nothing compared to your area. I can see why you would be scared with all the fireworks as it only takes one little spark to hit and start a fire since it is so dry. Smart to change the codes of your GD opener. Good thinking there.

Judy...great workouts. You inspire me with all your core work. I have been doing more that I used to so that is good. Crazy someone stealing the HRM strap. Ridiculous!

Lynda...lol!! About using a bucket of ice and a fan. So nice not have to worry about anything at the ranch. If only it was like that everywhere. Terrible about the weather and the farmers. We had rain here for just a few minutes yesterday. Today it has been overcast but warm and no rain.

We went to see Spy today and I liked it. Not as funny as I thought it would be but I enjoyed it. Everyone else thought it was hysterical so perhaps it was just me. We all have been eating and drinking a ton. After today I need to put the breaks on. I have had my fun now time to get back to business.

Hi to Josie and Dawn and have a great night all!

I haven't been so good at posting lately. But I have been good at working out at least. Today was the first IMAX. I had to modify some of the blasts, but I finished!
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend!

Good morning,

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I know there was rain, and fireworks where we did not want them, but all in all, it was a nice weekend here.

Judy, great workouts! Your core must be 'talking to you" LOL

Lynda, farmers are the hardest working people I know. There are no excuses, or "calling in sick" unless they are in the hospital.

Valerie, 15 miles by 8:45, that's awesome!

Lori, that is great that your DS is there with you...thanks, will send my address...but I will pay the shipping!

Dawn, kudos to you for doing anything with IMAX in the title!

Josie, how are things going with the Peanuts?

Kylee's check up today, after I meet my friend for lunch....

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Looks like a nice day today here in Charlotte. Not sure what the plans are today as we talked about so many things. Having coffee right now and will leave for my walk soon with DS. Everyone will still be a sleep when I get back so I plan to do my travel fit I made up for the lunchtime ladies :). Jenna (Madeline's daughter) belongs to a gym and will be bringing me for a 4pm Booty Barre class. I actually am very excited about this!

Lynda...the soccer was amazing! We watched it too. So happy for those girls! Go USA!

Dawn...Imax is a great killer workout! Good for you!!!

Deb...my pleasure. As soon as I get home Tuesday I'll hook up the cables and will make sure all works.

Have a great Monday all!

Hi Ladies,

I will only be working out with Karina on Tuesday and Thursday while the kids are here. Today I plan to take them to Sky Zone for some trampoline jumping. I may get us the 2 hour pass so that I can get a workout too :). Tomorrow will be a rest day for them and me and then to the Redondo Beach lagoon for swimming on Wednesday. I plan to do something with them every other day.

Valerie, we had an alarm installed and a video surveillance equipment installed when our DS moved out. Our DD's room is in the front of the house and we needed peace of mind. We live in a busy area and had had some vandalism from our neighbors kid across from us. The videos took care of that.

Judy, good job on your tough workouts. I can't wait to get back on my bike.

Deb, how is your baby doing? Is she still in pain?

Lori, It sounds like you are having a good time with your DS. I wish I could spend some time with my DS by himself, I can only stand his DW for a few minutes at a time and she is alway around.

Garance, what are you reading these days?

Hi to Dawn!

Josie

Hi all--

This morning I did both hiit workouts from the last series (50:08).

Lori, I had the same reaction to Spy. I thought it would be funnier because Melissa McCarthy just cracks me up. The soccer game last night was phenomenal. We went to see the USA women's team in 1999 with Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain when they were playing in Foxboro. That team was good, but this one is incredible. I thought they played better than the men's team (so did my soccer referee DH)--especially that goal from the midfield. Talk about power! Women have power too.

Josie, I finished Kate Atkinson's A God in Ruins (which I loved) awhile back and I'm looking for another serious, engrossing read, but until I find one, I'm still working through Peter Robinson's mysteries--a series with detective Alan Banks. They are always very good. It sounds like you are having fun with your peanuts.

Deb, are you doing any workouts? I know you quit STS and did some KCM for awhile. Are you still doing KCM?

Dawn, I haven't done IMax 1 or 2 in a very long time. I just can't do the impact anymore but I loved those two workouts a lot and did them regularly back in my 50s.

Judy, I notice how much core you do. Very impressive! I try to do a couple core workouts per week, and I probably should do more.

Valerie, how's the heat wave? At least the fireworks should be abating for you.

Josie, we have an alarm. no video though. don't think it would help with the petty theft situation here. no way could we cover all the areas, like sheds, driveway. it has been hard to adjust to as when we first moved here it was very quiet and safe. not anymore since the tribal casino.

Fireworks were almost non existent last night. heard a couple distant pops & bangs but vastly better. still warm for this coming week but looks like cooler by Friday. no rain in sight.

I've never watched soccer. sounds like it was exciting. did watch some of the tour de france. watching cycling is not very interesting. incredible athletes, just not very good on TV. everyone looks the same except different color clothing.

Imax is a workout I don't have . probably too much impact for me too. Sounds tough!

we are skipping riding today. need to get some grocery shopping done or we will starve! we have an expensive project on our camper. the jacks that raise/lower it failed. 3 of 4. a good sign we need to replace all of them. we ordered 4 replacements that will be here tomorrow. they are 60 lbs each so there will be some heavy lifting going on.

Hi Everyone,

Last night I did an upper body workout at the gym with DH. This morning I did a 90 minute indoor ride.

Lynda-Rancho la Puerta sounds wonderful. I agree, it's tiring to be vigilant all of the time.

Valerie-I used to trust everyone when I was younger, but not anymore.
I've been watching some of the TDF too. It is pretty boring to watch for long periods. I try to catch the last 20 minutes of the stage. I like the mountain stages better than the flat. They are a little more interesting.

Deb-yes, my core was talking to me quite a bit yesterday :) I hope Kylee's checkup goes well.

Lori-great workouts! The Booty Barre class sounds like fun!

Josie-I'm going to be doing more biking this month. I can't wait to get outside to ride. Hopefully this weekend.

Dawn-IMAX sounds tough!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Judy

Good morning,

Computer woes yesterday....I HATE THAT! Spent a lot of time on the phone with Time Warner....actually had to speak with 3 different people, what a waste of time. Kylee's re-check was good, she is healed. Now we need to start brushing her teeth...that should be fun.

Lori, how was the Booty Barre class? Is Madeline still ok to do things with you?

Josie, you sure have some fun -packed days planned ahead!

Lynda, yes, doing workouts...right now I am doing KCM's latest rotation...her workouts with either doing the treadmill or going with my cousin to the track to walk/jog. I could not do STS, and I really like the workouts. I will try again, but pick up where I left off with Meso 2, rather than do Meso 1 over again. I will be checking out that author/mystery series you mentioned. I got a deal from Barnes & Noble, Nook books for something called " A Murder of Mysteries". It is 20 novels, all the 1st in a mystery series. I think it was $2.99.

Valerie, will you be doing that work on your camper yourselves? It sounds like a major deal. I have never watched soccer or cycling on TV. I know that soccer is becoming more popular, but very slowly. Nothing like what it is in Europe, or even Canada for that matter.

Judy, it sounds like your hip issue is resolved?

A workout planned, then off to PT.

Take care,

We've been watching a very good series called "murder in the first", a crime drama. I think it has 2 seasons. kathleen Robertson, taye diggs. one of the writers is Stephen Bochco. whoops, gotta go ride, more later.

Hi all--

This morning I did ba, rear delts, bis (52:28).

I heard on the news this morning that the women's soccer team was paid 2 million, while the USA men, who lost, were paid 8 million, and German men, who won, were paid 35 million. AND, the final for the women was the most watched soccer game EVER, and had a bigger audience than either the NHL final game or Nascar. Talk about pay inequity! Billie Jean King and Chris Evert were the women who insisted that women tennis players be given equal pay. I hope someone gets after FIFA for this and all of their other corruption as well.

Deb, that's great to have an exercise partner. Ooh! we don't brush Max's teeth, but they definitely get cleaned up after he has a marrow bone. The vet doesn't approve. Computer woes are the worst, and Time Warner--pfft! Deb, I vaguely remember that you don't like mysteries with British detectives, so I'm not sure you would like this series. On the other hand, they are very well done and Alan Banks is something of a maverick--like Harry Bosch.

SIL used to watch the Tour de France when we were at the Jersey Shore. Looked kind of boring to me, and after all the problems with doping, I don't trust the sport at all.

Valerie, I will check out Murder in the First--I really like Taye Diggs.

ttfn

Back again 32.5 miles later. cooler than it's been so a good morning for a ride.

Ha... remember BJ King playing Bobby riggs? Pay inequity goes everywhere and it shouldn't.

we are almost finished with "Murder in the first." I'm not sure what network it came from, we're watching it on hulu plus. I found it on Netflix but just one season. it's possible this is the only season available now. the only thing wrong is the characters are a little too attractive to be "real". set in S fran. the woman is the actress who played a key role in the series "Boss" that I liked so much that got cancelled . I was thinking taye diggs was a mainly a model? somehow I didn't realize he was an actor. he's very good in this..... everyone is.

I'm happy to say we have a different company Wave. I've heard enough about Comcast and Time Warner to feel fortunate!

Deb, we will be replacing the old jacks with identical new ones so should be able to do it. if we'd switched brands of jacks it would have been more involved, and that's what it sounded like at first, but we decided to stick with the same ones. Better the devil you know and all that........... we picked them up this morning but think we got the wrong product number and are checking with the company before we start fussing with them.

So the people killed and injured in the ice cave collapse... yes, that's right near here. we hike off that road often. we never bother with the ice cave hike because it's flat, short, and always crowded. so sad that people don't obey the signs and stay out of them. a little girl was killed there a couple years ago, and she didn't even go inside.

I've tried to get revved up about the TDF but it's just boring on television. and then there's the drug problems and reminders of lance A. I wish I could get interested in soccer but so far, no. men or women. I think it has potential because of it being a much lower contact sport, compared to football. not a lot of gear or protection needed.

Deb, glad yur doggie has recovered. I used to brush our dog's teeth. it was messy! he didn't like it but he went along with it OK. I used to worry they'd decide flossing would be a good idea.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did KCM Muscle UP.

More rain last night...it's ok when it rains during the night though, no watering the lawns and flowers needed. :).

Valerie, Great ride! I searched for that series on Prime....unfortunately right now it is not free. :(. I don't like to pay for Prime TV when I already am paying for Prime itself. I will put it on my watch list, and see if they make it available for free in the future. It must be a good one. LOL on flossing the dog's teeth! I can not imagine....:). Agree on that ice cave collapse, why don't people follow signs?

Lynda, that is so WRONG about the women's soccer team and the pay structure! I hope they get together and protest it. I know that vet's do not agree with pet owners giving dogs bones, but I think marrow ones are ok, as long as you watch them and take them away. We used to give our dogs every bone from our dinners that we had, and one of mine almost died from it. I stopped giving them after that.

HI to Josie, Judy, Dawn, & Lori,

Hopefully if it doesn't start raining, will meet my cousin at the track,

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a premix from KCM Abs & Core, then a 90 minute Spinerval. I did 2 days in a row of long rides, trying to get my endurance back up. Last night DH wanted to go to the gym so I went and did a very short leg workout. I did deadlifts with a hex bar and front squats, that was all. Today is a rest/easy day. I have a massage and chiropractor appointment this morning.

Deb-I've been brushing Chino and Shadow's teeth every night. The vet also gave me something to put on Chino's teeth as he has a little tartar build up.

Lynda-that is horrible about the soccer teams and pay structure! Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me.

Valerie-you are getting some nice rides in! I'm sorry to say DH and I haven't ridden outside much at all this summer. He has been so busy at work that he hasn't taken much time off, then on the weekends he wants to work on the condo and is too tired to ride. I end up riding indoors as I just don't care to ride outside alone around here.

Hi to Lori, Josie & Dawn,

Judy

Hi All--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves (55:15).

Deb, maybe Loretta Lynch will go after FIFA for the pay inequity--in addition to all the corruption and graft. Totally crazy to have the men's world cup in Qatar, and obvious FIFA took a lot of bribes to make it happen. Deb, cooked bones shatter, but raw ones are okay. It's usually on long rides in the truck that DH gives Max a marrow bone and he just goes at it until all the yummy marrow is out and then cleans his teeth on the bone.

Valerie, Taye Diggs started on Broadway in "Rent." He's a singer and dancer, was married to Idina Menzel, on another TV show about doctors ("The Practice") for a long time, and is currently on Broadway again in "Hedwig's Angry Inch"--pretty much a one man show with song and dance. Soccer is definitely a contact sport. My sons both played, one as a left wing defender, the other as goalkeeper, and believe me, I wish they had helmets in addition to their shin guards and the mouth guards for their teeth. I missed that news item about the ice caves. How terrible!

Lori, when are you getting back from Charlotte? Sure hope it's not on United. Wow, that airline is cursed.

Judy, what is a hex bar? Sounds like something Harry Potter would use.
