good morning. off to do a road ride.

yesterday did x train bi's and tri's premix, x train chest/ back/ shoulders premix and abs. wish that could be done without changing disks.

back from our ride, 2 hrs 8 minutes. a heck of a headwind , seemed both directions but time was the same or less than usual

tried a new watermelon salad. lime juice and olive oil, feta cheese and mint. a WW featured one. DH absolutely hated it. would not eat. I thought it was at best marginal so ate the melon, flicked off the cheese and mint. I am batting about "00" with WW sponsored recipes. I like watermelon salads with cucumber but not tomato, mint, or feta. seems to me like vinegar on strawberries.... does not taste good! starts with something good ( watermelon, strawberries) and then ruins them.

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. Other than that I’m having a lazy day.

Valerie, I rarely use WW recipes. I look to see how they compare to my usual recipes, but I don‘t use the actual recipe. I will make adjustments to some of the proportions for oils or sweetener, or other high calorie ingredients, but I like other recipes better than WW.

Waving hello to everyone. Enjoy your afternoon.

Carolyn, got my replacement Shefit bra. wore it today for the first time. I like it. it's more support than I needed for a bike ride but it covers all the bases and is quite adjustable. you can do each strap differently, and the chest strap has a big velcro patch so also flexible. service was fast and friendly and shipping was efficient. I will get a less structured bra next but it looks like they are out of that one right now. my current everyday bras are too big for me now and I keep falling out of them ... unpleasant. I am about 36D (or C) or maybe a 34D..... just for reference. shefit has sizes for much much more well endowed than me. Shefit has a their own sizing system. each bra comes with a tape measure so if you dont have one handy, you will! the only thing I dont like ... supposed to air dry rather than dryer. I will probably test that sometime when I forget.

I wasn't sure I'd like mint and feta and I didnt. occasionally I try a WW featured recipe but no big winners so far and several definite non repeaters.

This morning I did All Out Low Impact HiiT, Floor and Step cardio premix. That was 33 minutes and 250 calories burned. Average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 162. I had my yearly appointment with the Breast Specialist this morning. Everything is looking good, which is always a relief to hear.

Valerie, I mentioned Shefit to my daughters yesterday and it turns out that my oldest was already familiar with the brand from her work. She had planned to send me one for Mother’s Day but couldn’t decide which one to get. After our Zoom call she sent a gift certificate. I guess I will be trying the brand also.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Cathy.

Yesterday I did CDorner flow mobility and today I did Cathe Perfect 30 Low Impact Hiit mix with the bonus cardio pyramid and stretch (modifying the box jumps on the bonus. This was 49 minutes, 263 calories, heart rate 139/177, 3,042 steps. I followed this with Perfect 30 Mobility Flow, which I like better than the strength flexibility, 54 calories, 32 minutes, heart rate 80/102, 190 steps. Total time 81 minutes, 317 calories, 3232 steps. I have not done the Low Impact Hiit much. I am not a real fan of drill type moves, but it was something different and the low impact part really got my heart rate up. Weird that it dropped off on the bonus step cardio pyramid. I did one of the Fix it with Food recipes with butternut squash today, but altered it. I cubed and cooked half a squash and put it in the air fryer and then cooked up the other ingredients in the skillet, using kale instead of swiss chard and adding cooked quinoa that I had in the freezer. Walnuts instead of pine nuts at the end. It was good. Yesterday was a family birthday even though some were out on vacations. We played some games and had a nice visit.

Valerie, it would be nice if they had set it where you could combine the workouts on one disc. I have had some recipes lately that were a waste and ended up tossed. I just like watermelon as watermelon by itself. I have tried recipes, but never worked for me.

Carolyn, nice work on All Out Low Impact Hiit cardio today. It is always a relief to get those appointments out of the way and have the all clear.

we are mt biking this morning. DH somehow hurt his knee so skipping the hike this week and riding, which seems to help his knee.

I've been having trouble with one eye in particular being too dry. been using drops etc but not enough. I had some punctal plugs put in yesterday. a tiny plastic plug in the tear duct. helps more moisture stay in your eye. it was simple and took all of 3 minutes. didn't even have to take out contact lenses. seems to be better today. its an intermittent problem, some days more bothersome than others so hopefully this will be enough. between that appt and grocery shopping I didn't work out. will ride this morning.

I like to try new things on the menu so always a risk one of us wont like it. not a fan of mint. tried it numerous times and no. DH is REALLY not a fan. I like watermelon plain, and I like it in a salad with cucumbers and peanuts on top. somehow that salad "works" with the salty and sweet together. made a watermelon salad with goat cheese before but right now DH is not agreeable to try again.

I love butternut squash but save it for late fall and winter. we had so much of it last year I could not use it all and gave many squashes to friends and neighbors.

Deb are you ever going to come back and visit? and Lori? we miss you.

Hi Everyone,

Saturday I worked 6 hours and did a 30 minute Peloton ride afterwards. Sunday I did a 30 minute run and an hour of Yin Yoga. Yesterday I went with Chris to a dental appointment. He has a mild gum infection and had to get a root canal done. It was mostly a rest day for me but I did do Muscle Meltdown Triceps last night.

Valerie, I've had issues with dry eyes for a few years. I've been using Systane drops every morning and so far that seems to help enough. I'll have to look up punctal plugs. That sounds like a good option.

Diane Sue-Great job with the CDorner flow mobility and the Cathe Perfect 30 Low Impact Hiit mix.

Carolyn-Nice job with All Out Low Impact HiiT, Floor and Step cardio premix. That's good news about your doctor appointment. I'm sure that was a relief.

Deb & Lori-I hope all is well and that you will stop in sometime.

Hi to Cathy

Today I did Gym Style Back, Biceps, and Shoulders timesaver. My time was 38 minutes with 173 calories burned. Average heart rate was 117 and maximum heart rate was 150. I was rushing to get to a dental appointment only to learn that it had been canceled. I was not pleased at all and I did let them know. Apparently they sent a text to my husband’s phone, not mine, for confirming. I have never given them that number, but they have somehow combined our records in the system and deleted my phone number. I will deal with that later. I was too angry to have a long conversation with the young woman at the desk.

Diane Sue, great job with CDORNER Flow Mobility, P30 Low Impact HiiT, and P30 Mobility Flow. I’m glad that you had a good time with your family as you celebrated birthdays.

Valerie, I have never heard of punctal plugs. That’s great that you have a long term solution for the dry eye problem.

Judy, nice job with the Peloton ride, Yin Yoga, and Muscle Meltdown Triceps.

Have a wonderful afternoon.

my understanding is that dry eyes are a real common problem. sometimes it develops after lasik or eyelid surgery, other times just routine part of aging. ( more good news!) until I developed the problem, I had no idea how many eyedrops /gels are sold to deal with it. there must be 150 things on the shelf at the pharmacy, all little tiny bottles /tubes with microscopic ingredient lists. Im assuming all of them must work for someone! Ive tried quite a few but it was not enough. punctal plugs are a teensy little plastic bit that goes in the tear duct below the corner of eye. the plug somewhat blocks fluid from leaving, so more is left on the eye. I hope its all I need to do. it was better last night and today, but Ive had it vary a lot from day to day so not declaring victory yet.
Judy my ophthalmologist put them in yesterday, took all of 3 minutes. I use a systane gel at night, and Refresh contact lens solution when putting my lenses in in the morning.

did planned mt bike today, 2 hrs 10 minutes. we haven't ridden in more than a month so it seemed kind of tough but OK. my odometer needs a battery so didn't get mileage. about 8 miles.

carolyn that really stinks. I would be angry too. . I prefer text reminders since our dentist sends so many that its annoying on the phone, text is less intrusive. my husband and I share a phone. he has his own phone but never gives anyone the number (!!!) so I get all the reminders on my ( our) phone. that way he doesn't have to carry a phone...... he tells his friends its a great system! our dentists office sends out several reminder texts and also a land line phone reminder. I don't know how offices deal with it, because I kept my own name so two different last names. Id rather get texts because there are so many spam calls I prefer to not have phone ring any more than it has to.

Popping in from Akron or rather a suburb of Akron. We did the Cleveland Zoo today and it turned out to be one of our best zoo visits of the year with lots of cool activity. Tomorrow is Pittsburgh and we'll do Akron the following day and head home. I got an EZ Pass for the toll roads and it is so much easier than having to pay. I doubt I'll use it again till next year, but I can just stick it in the glove box.

I did a workout Sunday. Don't ask me what it was. LOL Yesterday I shopped. Hopefully back at it on Friday. I have about four weeks with no travel and then I take Derek up to Marquette to move in. Nick leaves for TX in less than a month. He has everything set with his apartment except the internet and that will need to wait since they'll mail him a router.

Today I did Gym Style Legs, timesaver one, which doesn’t include the floor work. My time was 40 minutes with 164 calories burned. Average heart rate was 112 and maximum heart rate was 137. I rescheduled my dental appointment this morning and made certain that they have the correct phone number for me.

Valerie, nice job with the mountain biking. I prefer text reminders as well. I really don’t care to receive phone calls of that nature.

Cathy, it sounds like you are having a great week with your zoo trips. It’s wonderful that you are having a good summer with your sons.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue. Have a great afternoon.

Thought we would road ride this morning but didn't. took our truck in for air conditioner service. was done in an hour... finally good news! just needed to be recharged. good to have found a decent local place for diesel service instead of the dealer. some things you need the dealer, but not everything.
I realized this morning while putting in my contact lenses that I can easily see where the plugs are placed. makes a little bump on the lower eyelid area. if I lose one, I will see it's gone rather than make an appt to have doctor check it. its pretty common to lose one by rubbing your eye wrong.
I agree ...the zoo trips sound like a great way to spend time with your son.

and the fires go on. this is going to be an absolutely awful year. looking at the fire maps is beyond depressing and sad. so many places we have been will not exist anymore. going up in smoke.

Today I did CDorner Butt and Legs Burnout, 51 minutes, heart rate 122/146, 581 steps, 141 calories. I took up a few minutes writing things down, otherwise it was around 45 minutes. I then did her 10 minute quick abs with min bands, 41 calories, heart rate 107/124, I have done this before and it is mainly obliques and some lower back. I then did Part of Mobility #19 stopping at 14 minutes(too much time on my hands. This was 25 calories, heart rate 78/97. I finished with upper back foam roller work which I did not count. Total time was 65 minutes, 166 calories. Not a big calorie burn, but a good lower body workout.

Butt and Legs Burnout uses the heavy lavender fabric loop band
band work standing
band still on and using 20# dbs squat 3 pulses and deadlift
band on and 20# db(she uses 30) bridge
hands and knees band leg lift/cross

next group done twice
wall sit with dbs on thighs calf raises20# dbs
1 leg deadlift 15's
wide squat with dumbbells on thighs calf raises 20's first time and second I dropped to 15's
deadlift 20# dbs

one knee leg up/out/curl
same leg hands and knees leg curl and extend
same leg lunge/up with cross back/knee up cross back/lunge back repeat
repeat on other leg

bonus booty round skaters side to side tapping dumbbells
follow with deadlift 20's (me)
repeat 2 more times I think all moves are 30 seconds as she uses a timer

I will come back in awhile to read posts.

I just didn't feel much like cooking today. I made my husband keto shepherds pie minus veggies and I ate left over meat balls with left over cauliflower mash for dinner. Otherwise it has just been protein powder and a sandwich. I am catching up on cleaning dirt off of everything. We are getting a lot with the building and putting in the road behind us. I finally pulled out those swifter dusters. Wiping with a rag just has it dropping right back onto things. The other option has been to use damp cloths. I had forgot I had those dusters and it seemed to work better and I was able to go over the blinds.

Valerie, it is funny how some flavors just go together. I like cantaloupe with pepper on it. Salads with dried cranberries or fruit, I generally like with salt and pepper. I guess maybe I just have not come across a watermelon salad that I cared for. I have only tried a couple of times. I have not heard of them doing that for dry eye. My daughter uses some kind of prescription drops for hers. We always make sure there are not fans blowing on her as it makes it worse. Glad the air conditioner was not as big of a problem as you anticipated.

Judy, nice work on the ride Saturday and run Sunday. Those root canals take some time. Not fun!

Carolyn, I would not be happy getting to an appointment only to find out I did not have one. I get all of the texts. Some more than I want to. I lucked out when I had the forethought to call the heart hospital ahead since I had not had a reminder on the heart CT, and just seeing the doctor. Nice that you got in the workout though.

Cathy, it sounds like you are enjoying the time with your son and the zoo trips. This summer seems to have flown by.

Today I did Kick, Punch, and Crunch, the Cardio Conditioning premix. That was 38 minutes and 258 calories burned. My average heart rate was 128 and maximum heart rate was 152. I had an appointment with my financial guy this morning and I just finished an online session for a continuing Ed event that I am doing. That’s enough work time for me!

Diane Sue, nice job with the workout yesterday. I have days that I don’t want to cook, too. I try to keep something in the freezer for those days.

Valerie, that’s good news that your truck air conditioner was a minor problem to repair.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.

Back from a lovely road ride this morning, 2 hrs 10 minutes. 23 or so miles. windy but beautiful. we are not getting all the wildfire smoke here even though fires are not that far away.
it is so sad to hear about what the fires are taking. the lodge where DH and I spent our honeymoon is under "evacuate now" orders. weve gone to this general area multiple times a year for 40 years, for all seasons of activities. many roads around there are familiar places we have xc skied many times, and mt biked and hiked. campgrounds we use are evacuated, don't know what has burned. this on top of many previous years of other fires that burned up places we loved to go to. it really builds up... its an assault on memories of good times and places that wont be repeated now because the whole place is turning into a cinder.

carolyn we were pleased it wasn't the compressor or some other expensive part. probably fluid leaked when we had the turbo rebuilt but we didn't think of having it checked.

med/dent offices remind us of appointments so many times here, I prefer to get texts so I dont have to answer multiple times.

I like a few ready made dinners in the frig or freezer. I like Indian things ( Sukhi's or maya kaimal brands) that way so I get the flavor without the odors stuck in my kitchen. I'm trying a new dish that is Korean barbecued chicken next time I want a fast meal. I keep cooked brown rice in the freezer so its dinner in 10 minutes or less. we aren't crazy about any restaurants around here and generally would much rather eat in versus go out.

oh this is too funny. I make shepherds pie but its vegan. all vegetables..... broccoli, carrots, peppers onion with mashed potato on top. never ever meat. that's the only thing I ever associated with the name 'shepherd's pie".

maybe your daughter uses Restasis? its a prescription med for dry eyes. I will try that next if the punctal plugs don't work well. its costly so I didnt want to do it unless I tried other things first.

tastes are so individual. always a surprise. like DH hates cilantro and says it tastes like soap, but loves raw carrots. I think raw carrots taste like soap and wont eat them. I have a poor sense of smell, but hard boiled eggs are so overwhelmingly strong smelling I cant stand being near them, plain eggs or egg salad etc but I like fried or scrambled eggs OK. DH has a terrific sense of smell and likes hard boiled eggs. no logic!

Today I did CDorner Boxing and Core from this morning, 45 minutes, heart rate 141/179, 256 calories, 2,666 steps I followed with Mobility for hips, shoulders and neck #6, 26 minutes, 47 calories, 115 steps, heart rate 83/102. Total time was 71 minutes, 303 calories, 2,781 steps. My hamstrings are sore from yesterday's workout. I needed the stretching today. My thumb is throbbing this morning. I love it when joints just flare up. I have not had that happen in awhile.
I fixed some air fried chicken for dinner with butternut squash and an ear of corn. The corn was a disappointment. I got it at Walmart. I just had a desire for some. One ear I had cut off the cob and used for a southwestern quinoa bowl. Now I have two ears left and really don't want to eat them. I cooked a whole pack of chicken, so I will have leftover to use.

Valerie, that is sad about the fires. With dry weather, it doesn't take much to set off those fires. I have made myself shepherd pie with lots of veggies in it and the topping was cauliflower and potato mashed together. You can hardly taste the cauliflower which worked for grandchildren. My husband's is pretty much ground beef with powdered spices and Worcestershire sauce, broth, and a little tomato paste and some shredded cheese over the top of the potatoes. Eggs do not smell good, and I cook them for my husband a lot. Kind of kills my want for one. I like them best as an omelet with some veggies or salsa.
I usually keep some soup in the freezer. I have not purchased packaged meals for awhile. Whole Foods has a couple that I liked. One is Primal Kitchen one that has a pesto sauce, with cauliflower rice and chicken. I have not picked that one up for awhile.

Carolyn, nice job getting the workout in as it sounds like a busy day. I usually keep something for if I don't want to cook. I have soups and I keep rice and cauliflower rice in quart bags ready. I just was not wanting what I have.

This morning I did Gym Style Chest and Triceps. That was 49 minutes and 143 calories burned. My average heart rate was 100 and maximum heart rate was 141. I’m going to do another ceu session in a few minutes. I hope this one is interesting.

Hello to All and have a great day.

A group of the fires got started by dry lightning storms a while ago. it is upsetting to see conditions so volatile this early on in the season. burn bans etc help a little but some were human caused. I do not even begin to understand why anyone would risk a campfire when conditions are so dicey but you still see it, even in 85 degree weather, people parked and tending a campfire at a campsite sometimes in a campground, sometimes not. in our 50+ years of camping I cant remember more than 5 or 10 times we made a fire, and then it was cold and raining.

reporting back on the kevin's korean barbecued chicken. not wonderful , but not bad. this was Costco, two packs of chicken and sauce. I put on brown rice. I needed to add some heat to my serving but it was low WW points, easy and filling. marked as paleo. a good easy meal for lunch or dinner.

regarding Covid, I never stopped wearing a mask for shopping. renewed enthusiasm for mask wearing though, with the delta variant spreading. i visit with other vaccinated people but stores... no way to know. thought we were finally winding down but with all the unvaccinated people, there is a large population for the virus to infect. most of this state is 50 to 70% vaccinated so we are relatively well off here.

This morning I did RAW Tabata Sculpt 2 and had a GREAT workout. Never did this one before, it's the newest workout she has posted. I really liked it, it was fun and fast moving. The only complaint I have is the warmup as most of it is in a plank position doing different movements. I only did about half and then got om my feet and did normal warmup stuff. Other than that, great workout!!

Tabata drills, 20 seconds on/10 off. 4 sets each cycle.

Cycle 1
Alternate Squat Twist:
12#
Alternate Lunge Twist: 12#

Cycle 2
V-Raise/Front Down: 5's
Alternate Overhead Press Runs: 8's/5's for last 3 sets

Cycle 3
Plies:
12's
Dumbbell Curls: 12's

Cycle 4
Dumbbell Rows/Bent Over Flies: 8's
Hammer Runs: 8's

Cycle 5
Cardio Burst: Knee/Kicks
- 4 sets alternating each side

Cycle 6
Double Arm Kickbacks/Stand:
5's
Overhead Triceps Extension Runs: 3's

Cycle 7
Kickstand Split Squat/Suitcase Deads:
12's
(One side at a time)

Cycle 8
Half Body Dead Bug:
5# (she didn't call it that, but that is what it is)

Workout was 55 minutes, burned 176 calories (do you believe that? My HR was up the whole time), HR 89/139 and did 1825 steps.
