Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/16/2023

Today I did Body Parts Biceps Express, No Repeats. That was 36 minutes and 163 calories burned. My average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 145. I had to go to the regular grocery store to get some basic items that I can’t get at Sprouts or The Fresh Market. It’s another very hot day with a heat index of 102. I tried to run my errands and get back as quickly as possible.

Valerie, I’m glad that things look a little better than you anticipated. I hate doing online forms too, but that seems to be the norm now. So far I haven’t had to repeat the process when I arrived for the appointment.

Cathy, great job with P30 Low Impact HiiT, Standing Abs Core Plus Floor, and Mobility 2.

Diane Sue, great job with Body Parts Chest, Active Recovery, Standing Abs Metabolic Core Warm Up, and Mini Ball Abs. That was a very comprehensive workout. It sounds like the adjustments that you made for the chest workout were good ones.

Today I did CDorner Intermediate Step #306 which had good music in it, 32 minutes, 149 calories, heart rate 123/155. I then did STS 2 Body Part Biceps, 38 minutes, 115 calories, heart rate 105/125, and finished with STS 2 mobility #2, 20 minutes, heart rate 83/97, 35 calories. Total time was 90 minutes, 299 calories, 3,352 steps. It cooled off a bit and is overcast today so I went out and trimmed up my roses and dead headed flowers. I went to pull out the rock under the roses and a little snake crawled out. I jumped back, but I am sure it was probably just a little garter snake. It went around the back of the plant and when I put the fertilizer in and mixed it with the soil I put the rocks back and left it alone.
Our yard holds so much water and I could not do all of the roses with fertilizer as there was standing waer around two of the bushes. When the sprinklers go off we have ours and the neighbors, plus they empty their children's pool and It is soggy. I am not sure what to do for the plants that get too much water. I bought azaleas with plans to put one in the middle of the back yard where a small tree used to be, but am concerned about the drainage. I am tempted to try anyway. Right now I have it in a pot on the patio.

Carolyn, nice work on STS 2 Biceps express no repeats. I did the no repeats of these workouts before I started the rotation and you do not miss too much as it will still have a move if there is a variation change. When I used to shop at Sprouts all of the time I had to do a Walmart or at least dollar store trip to pick up some things I could not get there. I had a guy ask me where the Tylenol was in Sprouts once and I told him he would have to go across the street to CVS or the Dollar Gerneral. My husband likes Kellogs raisin bran and of course the only ones at Sprouts were their brand or Cascadian Farms. I miss Sprouts. Every time I have an appointment that way I think I should stop there, but am usually wanting to get home after the doctor appointment. There is one in the City next to us that is not far, but on a main busy street corner, that makes me not want to go there. Google Maps says it is 17 minutes away. Walmart has actually had some pretty good produce lately. I am pleased. I do not like the paper products that Sprouts sells so always went somewhere else.
Yes, the adjustments I made chest and with back were good. I have a little soreness which is normal. Not the pain I had before. I was beginning to think I might have to give up.
 
No workout today as I shopped. Have my last two parts workout sheets ready to print and I'll preview Triceps later so I'll no for sure which equipment to have out. It uses bands a lot, and I want to know ahead of time which ones will work best. Which reminds me, I love using the orange band around my upper arms for push ups. Using that I can do a half or more of the reps she does on my toes. I'm going to do that on all my future workouts with push ups!

Valerie the office we deal with that really drives me nuts is the eye doctor. Nothing online and when you get to the office they had you a clipboard to fill out the form-with the exact same info that has been in their computer for years and years. Ugh I've been seeing the same eye doctor since the early 80's. It's 2023 people at least give me a sheet with my info on it to just verify.

We are looking forward to the bath remodel. They might be able to start in December, we’ll just have to see how their schedule is.
 
Just finished STS 2 Body Parts Triceps and went to highlight it on my rotation posted on the wall and oops, I had it all wrong in my head and while Triceps was supposed to be today, I hadn't realized that there as a workout on their for yesterday and I was supposed to do Biceps first. Oh well, too late now. I hadn't noticed that because of the pattern of these the parts in the rotation there are workouts on my shopping days. So, I'm hoping tomorrow I can get up early and do the other things (cardio/recovery) and then do biceps. Legs Sunday, so it doing biceps tomorrow doesn't impact that.

had consult with surgeon yesterday. if I do this "fix" its a 3 level spinal fusion. its a fairly big deal. half a day surgery, then hospital stay for maybe 2 days then home. I would be able to walk right away but no lifting, bending, or riding for 3 months. so this will need careful thought and decisions. its good to have the more or less final word. I can get another opinion ( scheduled for one) but I like this man and he would likely be my choice.... if I do it. smaller fixes are not likely to work. so putting this aside for a while, getting another opinion, some other odds and ends. also might try another injection with the new test results as a guide.

cathy for me its the dermatology office. they send out the pre register form over and over.
judy do you have a second bathroom? a bathroom remodel would make things pretty tough to live with.
 
This morning I did STS 2.0 Body Parts Triceps which was 39 minutes and 117 calories burned. My average heart rate was 102 and maximum heart rate was 136. Then I did Mobility 2 for another 18 minutes and 65 calories.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Intermediate Step, Body Parts Biceps, and Mobility 2. I think of Sprouts and The Fresh Market as specialty stores. I always have to stock up somewhere else.

Cathy, great job with Body Parts Triceps. I’m sure that it’s fine that you reversed the order for Biceps and Triceps as long as you aren’t doing another upper body workout the next day.

Valerie-We have another bathroom on the first floor. The bath remodel will probably be stressful but hopefully not too bad. I just hope they don’t run into any issues that cause delays once they get started. I’m prepared for it to take a couple of weeks but no longer. It sounds like you have a lot to think about with the surgery. I hope that the second opinion gives you more insight for your decision.

This morning I did STS 2 Body Parts Biceps. I have 5 more weeks of body part workouts in the rotation, and I really like focusing on one part a day, but I also don't care for the fact that the way the rotation is set up you go more than a week before working an area again, so I think I'm going to redo the rotation so that I do them each once a week. I'll throw in cardio a couple days a week. I'm pretty sure I'm going to follow this rotation with the STS 2/Xtrain one, but switch pick my own cardio etc workouts and just use the weight workouts as scheduled.

Judy nice job with the Peloton ride and upper body gym circuit. The bathroom remodel will be a pain, but you'll be happy when it's done.

Today I decided on light weights since my back hurts-did Barlates Hula barre arms and thighs-she used 1 and a half pound weights but they kill-I love the flowing arms and feel like a mermaid!Then I did Tonique premier mat segment and Tonique Mat segment one and 3 yoga segments from Ana Brett Inspiration and Ecstasy and then walked dog

Cathy, great job with Body Parts Biceps. I know what you mean about the time between the different workouts. I looked at that too when I first started the body parts. I’m fine with it now, but I don’t think I could do a 12 week rotation.

Valerie, that is a lot to think about with surgery. Maybe the second opinion will come up with something more encouraging. It sounds like the one you saw though has explained things to you well.

Judy, nice work today on the 40 minute Peloton ride and getting in the upper body circuit at the gym. That is good you have another bathroom to use when the remodel is done. We had to use our upstairs one when we had work done running plumbing and adding in a guest bath at our other home. It was nice when it was done. My husband and son did the electrical and wall addition.

Cathy, nice work getting in Body Parts Biceps today and Triceps yesterday. I was thrown off when I first tried to add my workouts to the workout manager calendar because I sometimes need a rest day for going to appointments. and things. I quit doing it. I just do them in order, but take the days off that I need. Besides the 8 week goes into Sundays and I rarely workout on a Sunday. I did legs today because Monday I have the doctor appointment.

Carolyn, great job with Body Parts Triceps and mobility 2 yesterday. I did 5 body part workouts this week and will probably have the next two days off unless I get up early Monday. I think that I prefer the Body Parts workouts. I think it is good for me though to help build some muscle and and bones.
