Good morning,

Well the evaluation for the dogs is today, keep your fingers crossed. :).

Lori, that would be great if the cables worked, thanks so much for trying for me. A friend who has done it in the past with an older TV and an iPad also said they used to work for her but then just stopped a while back and she has no idea why, except maybe some Apple updates mess it up. You would think that more people on the forum board for this topic would be complaining or something. Even in the tutorials they mention only HDMI ( whatever that is!) and an HD TV. I always thought that there were different cables for HD TV vs a non-HD.

Valerie, with all this talk about Twin Peaks etc, I decided I would maybe watch it over, but unfortunately, it is not free on Prime. Good for you for doing some purging. I need to do more of that as well. So many "things" around that are never used. Like a Belgian waffle maker...I think we used that thing once in the 30 years we have been in this house but tossing or donating something like that would start a mini-war here, so it's not worth it. There are a lot of other things I can purge though I'm sure.

Hi to Dawn, Lynda, Judy & (the exhausted, I'm sure!) Josie,

Take care,

Good Morning Everyone,

I went to the doctor Friday and I don't have a sinus infection, just allergies. He gave me a steroid shot and a Medrol dose pack to take if the shot didn't help. The shot worked right away and I am doing much better. I've still been taking it easy with shorter workouts. I went to the gym with DH Friday night and did an upper body circuit. Yesterday I did a short walk/run outside. I think I will be back to my normal training schedule this week.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I'll check back later,

Judy

Good morning ladies,

Yesterday was a great workout day. Finally! I did Cathe Live PHA Training which stands for Peripheral Heart Action and loved this one. I then followed up with SB Bikini Butt. It was metioned on her forum so I figured I would try it. Really liked this one too. Great bum workout. :). Later on Chester and I went for a walk and he went for a swim. He just did not want to get out either. Couldn't blame him so I just let him swim and I watched.

Judy...so glad to hear no sinus infection. Although alergies stink too! I am fortunate to not be suffering from any allergies. You'll be back at your workouts in no time.

Deb...I know what you mean about the cables. Love technology but it moves so quickly. My dh has an Ipad2 and wants to throw it out the window as it is so slow compared to my Air Ipad. He is ready to upgrade. Actually I will upgrade to the Air 2 and he will get my Air 1. He is a good man. :) HDMI is a specific port on your device and TV. Similar to a usb port and allows the transfer of HD. Apple products do not have either so you would need a specific HDMI adapter plus a HDMI cable

Valerie...I have been doing some purging too and it feels great! I am very handy and grew up the same way. If something broke we needed to learn to fix it or we went without. Hated it back then but very glad now! Wayward Pines is not for everyone. I can see how some would not like it at all.

I am going to the pool today with DH. Going to make a day of it since it will be so hot. I imagine it will be packed. If you remember the Inn near us sells pool passes to the locals and we have been going now for several years. I always feel I am on vacation when I go. So nice and relaxing. Plan to workout later in the day as I am being really lazy at the moment!

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Hi Ladies ,

Sorry for not posting, but I have been busy with the kids. I have the other 3 grandkids visiting this weekend plus their parents. Taking them all swim today. I will be back later.
Trying to enjoy my coffee before the all wake up ;)

Josie

we'd planned on riding this morning but mt biking didn't work because the tree farm was closed due to "extreme fire danger". whatever. they have to be cautious although most users are horse and mt bikers. some motorcycles try to sneak ( illegally )in so maybe that it's easier to close to everyone. and now it's drizzling. we need the rain badly so no complaints. we will probably get a little but not enough to damp down the dangers. a nice soaking rain would be wonderful.

Judy I have a bunch of allergies too, most pronounced is grass. golf is not a good activity for me. I (long ago) had allergy testing to see what I needed to avoid. mostly grass. I don't mow the lawn, don't golf. occasionally need OTC allergy meds like allegra. I forget what the generic is but it's inexpensive. avoiding the cause of symptoms is best if possible

DH wants to hang onto things more than I do. I tried to donate our old wooden tennis rackets and he had a fit! yep, a mini war. we haven't played tennis in 35 years, and I didn't like it back then. why would I need a tennis racket?? I also still have waffle iron in case something happens to my metabolism and I can eat something like that again. waffles, pancakes... I wish.

we got side tracked and never did the phone upgrade though I want to. maybe this week.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did about 60 min. of SB.

Deb, good luck with K & K evaluations.

Twin Peaks was created by David Lynch, and his work, especially his films (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway) are often very surreal and campy. I watched Twin Peaks for awhile, but it just seemed to drag on and become increasingly complicated with no resolution in sight. I think I read that the series might be revived. I wrote an article on Blue Velvet, so obviously I was very interested in that film. Overall, mixed feelings about David Lynch's work because it can be very misogynistic.

Judy, so glad you managed to get instant relief. What exactly are you allergic to?

Lori, how nice to have a pool so close. We definitely are getting some summery weather for a few days. DH is thrilled because he can cut and dry his hay.

Valerie, sometimes you make your childhood sound so miserable, which makes me feel sad for you. At least you now have a happier life without all of your parents' disciplinary and confining regimens. I never watched Lost, but somehow I don't think WP will be like that. Anyone who has read the books here? Lori? Dawn? Will there be an explanation of some kind that is satisfying?

Josie, enjoy your family! It sounds like you are very busy with them.

Good morning, & Happy Monday!

Yesterday I did KCM Muscle Definition.

A nice day yesterday, the dogs passed their behavior tests, now we wait for the list of places to choose from to visit with them. I hope I get the airport one.

Judy, good that it wasn't an infection, but not so good since if it was, it could be cleared up. Does that make sense? I hope the allergies are just a temporary thing due to weather etc.

Lori, how was the pool? Nice that Chester got his walk and a swim! Does Nilla like the water at all? I don't think I would need HDMI stuff, not with the TV I have. LOL. I remember that it used to be that you could use composite cables, and some APPLE adaptor and that was all you needed. Now for some reason people say that doesn't work anymore, I guess that is what happened with yours?

Josie, what a nice Grandmother! Have fun!

Valerie, so funny about the tennis rackets, I did the same with racket ball and in-line skate equipment last summer. Our neighbor was having a garage sale and I carried it all over there and just put it out in her sale. There were skates and knee pads, rackets, etc etc. She wanted to give me the money if they sold...HA...no thanks, they are all yours to sell and if not, to get rid of afterwards. As for the phone upgrade, John just got the iPhone 6 and he really likes it. Finally! He is in the 21st century. :).

Lynda, I don't remember much about the story of Twin Peaks, only that it really didn't have an ending when it went off the air, or the ending was not a real ending...something like that. I do remember liking it while it was on though. Maybe I will check out some of those other David Lynch things on Prime.

Hi to Dawn,

Hope to get a workout in, then make the dog's food, etc etc...

Take care,

Deb, I had the tennis rackets out in the Goodwill. DH grabbed them and took them back to the basement where they'll hang idle for another 10 years. I always hated tennis! I'm sure no one uses wooden rackets anymore. just silly. We are finally dumping the old VCR cassettes, whatever they were called. Nothing left on them to watch.
Glad John got a new phone. hopefully I can get that going. we had momentum for a while and got distracted and lost it. I decided on a 6 also.
Judy I remember testing showed me allergic to a whole host of things, most things I never noticed. Main problem is grass/tree pollen. the grass caused most problems, although when you mow a lot of tree pollen gets blown into the air too. Miserable!! coughing, sneezing, itchy throat, runny nose. really worth avoiding for me, then I don't need meds.

Lynda, I didn't enjoy Lynch films. didn't understand them at all. I'm sure I saw Blue Velvet & Mulholland Drive but had no clue what either was about. We are still watching WP and will probably continue unless it starts wandering off too far. "Lost" seemed like they were making it up as they went along, and never planned an ending. would introduce a couple new characters or crisis, and continue on circling endlessly. I don't know how it ended, I just reached a point where I'd had it, and never watched another minute.
My parents were miserably unhappy together and I barely remember a civil word between them. Maybe because I was the oldest, I got hammered the hardest. My mother really never became an independent responsible adult. I think I scared both of them, especially her. Looking back, I'm convinced they did most things out of fear. It ruled their lives. My younger sister had serious social skill problems, so her issues were different, and my younger brother they let do what he wanted. it was strange to see a 9 yo boy with more freedom and fewer rules than I did at 17. however .... the best revenge is a good life. I wish it had been different but many people have it much worse.

Did camper maintenance yesterday . wanted to mt bike but went to our usual spot and it was closed to all users due to fire danger. unless it rains, that's it for the summer there.

Hi all--

This morning I did both low impact hiit workouts together (50:08).

Deb, Twin Peaks begins with the discovery of the dead, murdered body of a beautiful teen-aged girl. The darn thing was never solved and there were infinite complications and possibilities about who did it, why, how, etc. I thought Lynch just lost his way with it, or maybe it was handed over to other writers at some point. I was really afraid that The Killing which also started with a murdered girl would end up the same way, but after a cliff-hanging first season, the murder was solved in the second. I love my iphone 6. So easy to use. Congratulations to K & K! Why do you want to take them to the airport?

Valerie, I don't blame you a bit about Lynch. He has a wild imagination. I was fascinated with the fetishism in Blue Velvet and the complementarity between the sadist Frank and the masochist Dorothy. Yes, I'm a bit of a Freudian critic, so there was a lot to work with, which made it fun to write about. Yes, a good life is the best revenge. At some point I guess, you just decided to take control of your own life. Good for you! I was never any good at tennis, but it was good exercise running around trying to hit the ball I guess. I was better at basketball, but that's when girls played a half-court system. The olden days were weird, eh?

Warm and a bit humid here, but it's July weather, so I can't complain.

I'm wrong. I just read the Wikipedia article on Twin Peaks and apparently the murder was 'solved' midway through the second season. The killer was an "inhabiting spirit" of someone who dies in the arms of the detective. I guess I didn't stick around long enough to find this out--whatever 'this' is. Apparently, Lynch never wanted the murder of Laura Palmer to be solved, but there was pressure from ABC, especially since the ratings just kept going down with all the weirdness. The show was on only for two years, but it will be back in 2017 for an 18 episode run. By the way, Deb, you can watch the old episodes for free on your computer at IMDB. com.

Lynda,

Thanks for the info on Twin Peaks...it's all coming back now...maybe I don't want to see it again...LOL. I just remember how much it was talked about after each episode...probably because it was unique at that time.

Good to know about IMDB.com......will go over and check that out.

See below for the airport info: I think it's kind of funny....I used to be one of those people and would have loved it if someone came around with a dog to kill some time and lessen the stress. :)

Thank you Lynda....I didn't know The Killing returned. I liked it , got it thru Netflix. I just looked... it shows 4 seasons. I think there was question whether it would be back for a second season.

Lynch was too weird for me. maybe if I'd had some explanation at the time of watching.... don't remember if we even sat thru the movie. was there a Lynch movie with Nicolas cage & laura dern? maybe it was one of the ones mentioned.

Ha.. I've been on my own since I was quite young, not always made the best choices, but no help from my parents. My mother is a bit of an "air-head" ..... big on gossip magazines, silly stuff. she still is. looks are the only things that matter for women. she means well.... but not a lot of critical thinking going on. wish it were otherwise. when she talks about elections, I encourage her not to vote. only thing she could say about Michelle Obama was that she had a "lantern jaw" whatever that is.

Another big load to the recycle center...mostly metal, our old camper jacks.
off to do a ride, and a hike tomorrow. finally cooler and Ok for outdoor stuff.

Played too much tennis on courts without fencing and had to chase balls for ever. I was not a good player! Basketball...that brings back memories! we all had to stand in little circles and weren't allowed to move out of them, except (I think) 2 people on each team. It was mostly a sedentary sport. times have changed for the better. I would have loved having Josie as my grandmother!

Good evening ladies!

Today with the ladies I did 21D Barre Fix. Felt great to workout again at lunch. Then came home and did SB Cardio Interval. I fell off the wagon with her summer challenge last week so figured I'd just start again with today's workout.

Deb...the pool was great! Was really hot yesterday so it was nice to relax at a pool. We arrived at about 10:30am to get a good spot and did not leave until 3pm. Was having a blast along with a couple of margaritas. We would have stayed longer but that would've have meant 3 margaritas for me which would not be pretty. So needless to say I did not workout when came back! I did manage to take Chester for a walk though. Congrats to K&K! My husband is working late tomorrow so I will play around with his Ipad to see if it works on the other older TV. This is the one I used to workout with so I know back in the day it worked fine. Will be interesting to see the result. My DH is on his Ipad at the moment and is deep and thought so I am sure it is not a good time to swipe it from him.

Valerie...again great job on the cleansing then a ride and hike. I played tennis years ago with my friends but never really got into it like they did. I still have my rackets! Guess I am like your husband. :). Your childhood does sound sad as I remember other stories you have told. Other than my Dad passing at a young age, my mom did her best for us and it was wonderful. We certainly went without a lot but we never felt like we were going without.

Lynda...I never watched Twin Peaks. I do remember all the hype though. I have yet to do both low impact together. Everytime you post it makes me want to do it. I'll let you know when I finally do.

I would love Josie as my Grandmother too!!

Hi to Judy and Dawn!

Good morning,

Yesterday I did "Walk Fit" with my cousin at the track.

Valerie, LOL about your tennis racket "debate" ...I think you will like the iPhone 6. I probably should have caved and gotten that too. Though one I have is sufficient for what I use a phone for, the iPhone is easier to use if you already have an apple device like an iPad.

Lori, thanks again for trying the cables etc. I would be interested in hearing what you find out...here is the response I got from the Cathe tech support forum, We all know that it used to be possible to use a non-HD TV because you and others did it! (PS do not swipe the iPad from your DH to test! :)).

A TV with HDMI is strongly recommended, but it may be possible to play Cathe Live videos using an Ipad 2 on an older analog TV. Your best bet is to contact Apple to see what converters and/or cables you will need. In theory you should be able to do this, but we've only tested on HD Tv's and can't say for sure. Make sure you contact Apple directly and not a re-seller to purchase the cables you will need. Apple cables are not cheap so don't be shocked by the price."

Lynda, went over to IMBD site...it looks like it is a link to Amazon Prime?

Hi to Dawn & Josie,

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I will be working out with Karina today. I will be taking the kids home tomorrow morning and doing a little shopping while I wait for their mom at the half way point :). They opened an outlet mall and it is great during the week because there are no crowds.

Valerie, my DIL sounds like your mom. All she talks about are TV shows and stupid articles and also complains about my DS not doing much with the kids. Then she turns around and tells me that they went to the movies, To the park or to the beach. I can only sit and listen to her for a few minutes at a time otherwise I get a headache. My DH is like your DH too, he will not throw out his old tennis racquets either.

Lori, I can't wait to get back to my workout routine and get on the 21 day fix diet. Are you and your co-workers still following it? When I took the kids swimming on Sunday I did a couple of laps and really enjoyed it. I had forgotten how much I used to love to swim. I may go back to the lagoon by myself. The lagoon is in Redondo Beach and it is sea water that is chlorinated and processed constantly and it is surrounded by sand and divided for the little kids to play and the deep end for the more experienced swimmers.

Garance, have you gotten into True Detective yet? Do you watch Donovan?

Deb, good job on your workouts.

Hi to Judy and Dawn!

Josie

Hi all--

This morning I did ch, sh, tris with abs 1 (47:58).

Deb, so Keegan and Kylee will be therapy dogs. They have a therapy dog for students named Maestro who shows up around exam time to soothe the frayed nerves. Of course, their nerves would not be frayed or fried if they didn't procrastinate and then try to pull all-nighters IMHO.

Valerie, you are thinking of Wild at Heart--Lula and Sailor. Diane Ladd, who is also Laura Dern's mom in real life, is also in it and is trying to kill Sailor (Nicolas Cage) to keep him away from her daughter. I saw this a long time ago, and remember it being like a sordid version of The Wizard of Oz. The mom is sometimes looking in a crystal ball like the wicked witch of the west to keep tabs on her runaway daughter. Lynch is just too over-the-top.

Lori, I bet you would like the two low impact workouts together. One is just not enough cardio for me I guess.

Josie, I keep trying on True Detective. The episode on Sunday was, finally, pretty good, with some questions answered and a crazy shootout at the end of it.

Hi to Dawn and Judy!

I'm in sick bay today. planned on hiking but didn't feel well yesterday after riding and gradually felt worse. went to bed early, let DH go by himself. felt feverish, my skin and hair felt sore and irritated. feel better now after about 14 hours of sleep and rest. not sure what happened but assuming it was some transient virus. our ride yesterday was not challenging, just an easy 15. DH went hiking today, I didn't feel up to it.

Lynda, yes, that was another Lynch movie. I just don't "get" Lynch's movies and found them all annoying. not sure why I kept trying. plenty of others to occupy me. when I look at our Netflix queue it's almost all TV series, very few movies on it anymore.

so we have another national story .. don't know how much coverage it got east... a small plane crash in the north cascades, plane going from western MT to western WA. a teen age girl walked out. DH and I have hiked the area dozens of times, the trail she came out on. it's not real clear yet exactly where the crash happened. somehow she walked away from the crash and made her way to the highway. If you haven't spent time on foot in this area, you have no clue how rough and steep it is, and how much of it is basically inaccessible. it's not likely the plane crashed right next to a trail. so far, wreckage has not been spotted but the north cascades is a very rough primitive area. they've been looking for the aircraft since sunday.

My mother has somehow never needed to take any responsibility for her life and let someone else make all the decisions and take care of her. Any time you try to talk about some serious topic, she responds with tabloid crap. It is beyond me how anyone can live this long and be so dumb and make no effort to 'upgrade".

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Turbo Barre and this morning I did an hour of indoor cycling.

Valerie-I'm sorry you've been sick today :( That does sound like some kind of virus. I hope you are feeling much better now.

Lynda-when I had allergy tests 20 years ago, I was allergic to grass, weed and tree pollen. Ragweed was the worst. I normally use Claritin and Nasacort, but the past few weeks even those weren't helping. My doctor told me allergies can change and that I should get tested again.

Deb-Yes, I know what you mean, I was actually kind of hoping it was a sinus infection too, as I could have treated it and been done with it.
I agree about having dogs at airports. I would have loved to have seen that happen when I was flying for work.

Lori- I think you and your DH have the same arrangement with Apple products that I have with my DH :)

Josie-You are an awesome Grandmother!

Hi to Dawn!

Judy

Judy that was my allergy profile too. they listed specific trees, like birch. also some stranger things like cows, cats, dogs...things I never noticed anything with. I don't think ragweed was a problem for me but that's a common one. I use OTC loratadine which I believe is generatic Allegra. I only need a couple times a year at most, but it's 24 hours of relief. all the fuss about ragweed... I don't know what the plant looks like!.
what helped me dramatically was quitting lawn mowing. you can't help but whip up an aerosol of tree/ grass pollen with a mower, and inhale it. I stay inside whenever DH mows. also quit golf. I used to get off the course after several hours miserable with sneezing, ears and throat itching. so avoidance works best for me.

Good morning,

Rain, rain, and more rain....we got caught in it yesterday and were soaked! Nothing like going into a very cold air conditioned restaurant, all soaked like we just got out of the shower....and then freezing while eating lunch...it was funny. We looked like drowned rats.

Josie, yes, it's unanimous, you are a great Grandmother! :).

Lynda, the University here also has that program for therapy dogs to visit during exams and I have it on the list of sites I want to visit with the dogs. The intern at my PT place is getting her masters, and she mentioned that there were dogs visiting the university study areas this past spring when exams were going on. LOL on your comment about their "frayed nerves".

Valerie, I hope you feel better soon. It sounds like this came on pretty fast, no warning time to take the zinc stuff. Will need to Google that story of the plane crash....did the girl say where the plane was and if anyone else was alive?

Judy, do they still do those 50 or so injections of different allergens to do the testing? Ouch. We had that done on one of our past dogs...she was allergic to human dander...and all the other outside environment stuff. Gave her shots for a while until I figured they weren't working. Did you ever get shots?

Hi to Dawn & Lori,

Lunch with an old friend from a competitor broker today, and stuff around here.

Take care,
