Good morning,

Very hot and humid here, agility class was a sweatshop!

Valerie, no need to apologize, it was something totally unexpected, and hurtful. I can't imagine why your brother would even let the attorney put something like that together. Good that the rain will not only help the plants, but may deter some of the fire activity surrounding the 4th.

Diane Sue, KCM's streaming sounds good, but I don't think I can handle another bunch of workouts to have to choose from! Also, I am spoiled by Lori's spreadsheet/PDF document that has the description, equipment needed, length of time etc. Good idea to get another RoKU. I can't imagine not wanting to read. I remember begging my father to teach me how to read when I was about 5 years old so that I didn;t have to wait for him to read a book to me, and I could do it myself. My brother, on the other hand, never liked reading. Hard to believe we came from the same parents. My mother didn;t read much either, so I guess my brother got her "gene" and I got my father's.

Carolyn, smart to take a rest day when you are tired. I find that when I am tired, I am not paying attention, and that can lead to an injury.

Judy, good for you guys to take this week and get that work done! It's so hot anyway so most of the time you would probably be indoors anyway. I am very tempted to sign up for the KCM streaming, but how I am doing with workouts lately, I don't think I would get my money's worth.

Hi to Lori,

Have a great weekend!

Bringing my post over from the previous thread:

Hi Everyone,

We got really ambitious yesterday and purchased the new flooring. Chris has all week off so we are going to try to get as much of it installed as we can. We still have the half bath torn apart (more dry wall issues) so we will put the floor down in there first. I'll post photos as soon as we make some progress. I also signed up for Kelly's streaming since she has the $6.99 a month special going. Last night I did her Raw stretch. I really liked it and will do it again.

Deb-I'm sorry about your hip. I agree with Diane Sue about looking at the yoga tune up segments on YouTube. It's been very hot here too, in the high 90's with heat and air quality advisories all weekend.

Diane Sue-I'm going to try a few of the Raw workouts you mentioned. Bands and Barre sounds good and so does Kettlebell Dumbbell lower focus.
I hate using antihistamines too, but I had to give in and start taking Allegra D again.

Valerie-That is too bad about your sister. I can see how those kind of medications could really cause issues after taking them for so long.
Great job with Rock'em Sock'em!

Carolyn-I hope you had a good rest day.

Hi to Lori!

Deb-I'm with you, I can't imagine not wanting to read. When I was in grade school I would bring books home from the school library every Friday to read over the weekend. When I was in high school my favorite store was Walden books. I loved reading, and I still do, it's just that most of my books are Kindle and I don't go to the library or bookstore very often.

Today is my rest day. When the Roku comes I will be setting it up. I didn't get enough sleep and the thunder rumbling woke me up along with a nightmare. I got my mammogram result letter saying it showed negative with also saying my dense breast tissue makes it hard to read and it also means more chance of getting breast cancer. It said to look at adding other ways along with mammograms to help avoid getting breast cancer. They have never sent one with that type of message before.

Deb, it is a sweat box here too. It rained yesterday and being so hot, I could feel the steam coming off the pavement when I went to the mailbox. It is starting in again this morning with lots of thundering. I think the rain will leave for the most part and it will just be hot.
I like Kelly's set up on the raw workouts. There is a description when you scroll over the workouts and I like that you can save workouts that you want to do into your own workout list. That way when you pull up all you get two lists. The one you like or want to do and the other list is the rest. I heard that the kickbox contour workout is fun. I will be doing that this week. I have to make my workout really short tomorrow as I have my appointment physical. I am going to type up my notes on each of Kelly's Raw workouts as I do them. I hope that you got your air conditioner leak fixed.

Judy, I liked the raw stretch too and will use it again. It was funny on the Tatum Coffey hi/lo workout when Kelly comes into the workout to pick up some dumbbells and looks in the camera as Tatum is leading. I really wondered if Kelly was doing the workout on the other side of the room or something. Tatum did a great job. That is great that you will have a week to work on the flooring. I am anxious to see the results. I get desperate occasionally and will take Alevert, Claritin, or Zertec for kids. None really help they symptoms and make me feel crummy. So after a couple of days I give them up.

Good morning ladies,

Friday I did a 35 min Jill Cooper bounce that alternated between, cardio, weights, fire loops and upper bands. This was a great workout and will be doing this one again. This one also is in all Italian, but so easy to follow allong. Yesterday, I did Cathe’s recent Live Lower Body Confusion I think it is call. Sad I can’t remember. This one moved along quickly. Had some barre mixed in and I felt she did a great job of mixing and confusioning your lower body. I used ankle weights thru out.

Yesterday was beautiful and hot. We did our errands early and had a couple hours in the pool. In the evening I ate really bad! My son and his GF took us out to a Japanese hibachi. This was Bob’s Fathers Day gift. Bob loves this stuff! They had sushi and eel (yuck)! The girls stayed with steak and rice. :). It was delicious and I ate it all. We then went to the store and bought all the fixings for sundaes and we indulged with a glass of wine while watching a movie in our movie room. It was too hot here to sit outside with a fire. It was a fun night with a ton of calories! Oh welI, I will be good today!

I thought about trying KCM’s site due to her summer pricing, but, then Leah Sarago just anounced her site. I have a few of her downloads and dvd’s. Used her when I first started barre and she was way to hard! I have since incorporated her workouts and when I do them now I feel great afterwards and not dying like years ago. She now has a series called “Iron Barre” where she uses heavier weights than your typical barre class. I bought a download of her first workout a year ago and boy I felt it the next day. But then she did not realease anymore. She has a week free trial. Will at some point sign in to try out.

Valerie...nice your husband spoke with your brother. Hope this all works out. Good you are getting workouts in during this stressful time and you can vent anytime!! We are here for you! Bob had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and all was fine. He goes for his consulation on Monday. Assuming the procedure would be sometime next week.

Judy..that is great doing the floor. You will be amazed how much you can accomplish in a week!

Deb... how is your hip? Hoping better. I bet agility was a sweatshop! (Ha ha..I was rereading what I wrote and I had typed in Swearshop!!!! ). I bet with the heat it was both! Watching the news this heat wave is continuing thru the 4th. I do not mind it. I like the heat. The humidity, not so much! I was never one to like reading. I started enjoying books in my late 40’s. Now I can’t be with out a book.

Diane Sue...sounds like you got the streaming under control. I use my Ipad for Streaming. I have a roku3 and sometimes will use it but I like the ease of selecting using my ipad. I find it quicker and simple. For non streaming workouts I keep my “workout” harddrive always connected and ready.

Carolyn...oh I am so sorry about your knees! Do you bounce barefoot? Perhaps trying with sneakers would give you more support. How is your husband doing with the rebounder? Have you heard how Jen from 2lazy is doing? I see she has been reviewing workouts and posting which is a good sign.

Have a great day all! We have no plans...Linda Woolridge has yet another new workout that was a purchase not a freebie. Of course I bought it. Lol! Total Body Cardio Barre. I will be doing this one today. $3.99 is a bargain to me for a 60 min bounce and barre!

Diane Sue-I've gotten that message about dense breast tissue in my mammogram letter every year since 2012 or 2013. My doctor told me to start having the 3 D mammograms, which I did.

Deb, my brothers wife is probably behind picking the lawyer. she is very religious and picks things with that as a guideline. My brother is not religious and likely just lets her do what she wants. I think you would be stunned at how amateurish it looks and sounds. I have been told that WI state law does not require passing the bar exam. we had our will done a few years ago by a local lawyer, and there is no resemblance in the will itself or in how the information is accessed and backed up. our man is an ethical polished professional. probably didn't cost any more either. people with bad credentials can get away with charging as much as true professionals.

Lori good that DH had a baseline procedure done years ago so there is something to compare to. I don't know what Japanese hibachi is. is that like beni Hana with all the " elaborate performance" chopping? I will not eat raw fish, for sure. never been to a sushi place. raw is not for me.

I also get the dense tissue issue on mamm reports. I think all the mamms done at the center I use are 3D now.

I was always a reader even before starting school. mother and grandmother used to read to us all the time so we had a good start. still read a lot but not fiction much. prefer paper to electronic reading. gotta do a workout this morning but not sure what. wanted to ride but still raining.

I used to take anti histamines but eventually moved to the west. that helped for a while, and then the grass/tree pollen caught up with me. I got tested and had desensitization shots . a LONG time ago. I don't know if that approach is still used. that, along with limiting exposure to pollen made things a lot better. I was fine when I first moved here, but bought a house and the lawn mowing got to me quickly. I have antihistamines here but rarely use them. If I feel like I am coming down with a head cold, I use them for a day or two for symptom relief.

Today I did Jane Adams Yoga for Core Strength and Flexibility which was 34 minutes. I’m not sure why I was so tired yesterday, but I’m glad that I took a rest day. Today I’m back to normal.

Lori, I do wear shoes when I am on the rebounder. I only go barefoot for the SB bounces. It doesn’t always bother me, but is doing so with this current knee problem that I’ve been having. I have to be careful that I use good posture and press down on the mat as described in the training dvds. Do you stream to your television with the iPad? Do you use Apple TV?

Hello to everyone. I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I got the new Roku hooked up and set up the Roku 3. Meanwhile I did Kelly's Raw stretch again, just to check it out ;) My Samsung Galaxy tab is the 12.2. I could work from it, but I prefer using my television. The Roku worked perfectly and I don't find it that hard. I am not real fond of doing workouts when I can't understand what they are saying. I prefer English. I bet you do great with those workouts that were hard when you first started barre. You have been at it for a long time now. It sounds like you had lots of fun and it was relaxed fun. I would have chose the steak rice and veggies if it was me. My son took me to a Japanese restaurant when my husband was out of country. My grandson went for shrimp. I do like the veggies they throw on the grill and the steak was great. I think after that and ice cream I would have been ready for a nap :) You work out hard and are always busy. I imagine those extra calories will be easily burned.

Judy, I have been getting the 3D imaging done now for 5 years. I guess most is eating lots of fruits and veggies, care on which fats eaten, sugars, and staying away from toxins. That is just to lessen the chances. I think we are all pretty conscientious on eating and exercise.

Valerie, we put together a will. Most of the things that our children wanted we have already given to them. I still have my cedar chest though which goes to my older daughter. I am not ready to part with it. It was my great grandmother, grandmothers, and then my mothers. My aunt was asking about it recently. I think that she was pleased that I still have it and use it. It houses small family items and photos along with a family tree album which probably needs more updating. I read all of the time as a child. My mother took me to the military base library when I was a child. I took my children and my grandchildren to the library and entered them in summer reading programs every year. Now the one I have two days a week likes to go to the library and read, but he refused the program. I think he was afraid they would make him get in front of people and perform because my daughter and I took the younger grandchildren to a music and play thing at the library and they called him up front to play an instrument. He does not like doing something that he is not familiar with. I tried to explain, but no way. He reads a chapter to me each day he is here. He is 7. I had one grandchild that would go to the library and not want books and seemed to not want to participate to get the prizes. He would rather play games, make contraptions, and do art work. I guess some just have no interest. Usually when I feel like I may be coming down with a cold or some virus I take mediterranean oregano oil capsules for a few days. I end up needing an antacid when I take them though for some reason. But they usually ward off whatever is coming.

Carolyn, I think I may have said it, but if my knee that I had surgery on is bothering me at all, jumping on the rebounder sets off much more pain. You would not think that it would. It is mainly with heavy duty jumping. I always wear shoes. It also shakes up my neck a lot if I am having problems with it. Otherwise I am fine with it. It is always best to react to however the body is feeling.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Yoga Fix from the 21 Day Fix series, 31 minutes, 90 calories. Not sure if it got to 90 yesterday, but I did see 88. Our bedroom air conditioner unit is acting up again. :( :(. If I can't get them in tomorrow, it will have to wait until next week. We are going away on Thursday, back on Saturday.

Judy, I bet that bathroom is done by the end of this week, at least the parts that you are doing yourselves. Does your library do E-books? Most of everything I get from the library now is electronic. It saves a ton of money and space on my Nook.

Diane Sue, I hope you got better sleep last night. Good news on the mammogram results. I had them say I had dense breast tissue only once. They have not mentioned it again. Do you do without any caffeine before the test? My OBGYN still thinks that makes a difference, especially in the pain level. They used to tell you to stop all caffeine 7 days before the test. Then for some reason they stopped saying that, but he said it was good advice, so I started doing it again. Not that I have that much anyway, since I gave up coffee for the most part. KCM's set up does sound good. ARe they all like the free ones she posted where she was in her basement workout area?

Lori, that recent Live looked good in the clip. What a nice night out, and ending with sundaes sounds really great! I would have chosen the steak, rice etc too. My hip is about the same. I am not sure what to do besides stretching and resting it.

Valerie, I hope you get some better weather so you can ride again. How is it going with the firecracker situation?

Hi to Carolyn,

Take care,

I have my physical this morning and need to hit the store. I did Coffey Fit Raw Kickboxing and Contour, 48 minutes(42 actual as I got side tracked a bit before starting and wrote down the moves for my notes) 299 calories, heart rate average 120, max 163, 2,437 steps. She uses 2# dumbbells for the boxing and 15# dumbbells for the weight work. There is no jumpiing in this except for the jacks in the warm up. It is pretty much a strength workout as you do the boxing drills with the 2# followed by kicking no weights then a strength move with 15# upper and lower sometimes with both weights and sometimes 1. High reps. I really liked it and time moved quickly.

Deb, it is filmed in her basement same as on youtube. The lighting is much better than those first ones. I have never heard that about not having caffeine before the mammogram. I am pretty sure I did not have any caffeine though. I sometimes have the Dr Axe Burst which has some green coffee bean in it or kombucha in before my workouts. Otherwise I only drink decaf. I just had water before my physical labs. Air not working in the bedroom would not be good for getting sleep.

Deb-I'll look into e-books at the library. That sounds like it would work great for me.

Diane Sue-I want to try the Kickboxing and Contour workout this week. It sounds like a good one.

Here's the new flooring in the bathroom. I'll post more photos when the room is finished.

We are still getting rain and all is soaking wet. terrific! the local idiots have been blowing off firecrackers like crazy. it is such a widespread problem there is no way for law enforcement to cover anything but the most egregious cases. if I lived to 1000.... I don't understand fascination with loud obnoxious booms. bad enough on the 4th but at least the fireworks are pretty and it is one evening ( if only) . people have been revving up for at least a week already. yesterday was pretty rough.

I did a 40 min spin premix yesterday.

Deb, our bedroom is the least air conditioned room. its upstairs, heat rises, a lot of windows. we are getting some skylights replaced in a few weeks. might help with heat build up. I move to where the air conditioning works better. we have a sleeper queen sofa in the family room and also a portable air mattress we can take to the basement. the family room is louder with the refrigerator and DW. turn off the ice machine! our bedroom also gets noisiest from fireworks. better if we go down a floor or 2. If I am too warm, sleeping is impossible so it's worth it even if not perfect.

Judy that looks great. new flooring makes such a dramatic difference.

I don't give up coffee get 2 cups most days so not "huge" intake. they probably stopped saying that because most people would ignore them. if you are used to caffeine you can get some serious headaches by skipping it, but mostly I would just plain miss it.

we needed our property, investments, properly listed with the information backed up and stored. we keep it in a safe deposit box at the bank. you need to set up access ahead of time for someone to access safe deposit box, like you and DH are both killed in a car accident, plane crash, etc. I don't want confusion, fighting, or misunderstanding about final wishes, where things should go.
it is pretty stunning how with money, property and "things".... intentions, family relationships, good feelings disappear. OMG we have heard stories... we don't have children, not that that clarifies things, especially if there were any divorces, and kids with not the same two parents. it is a few hundred dollars to have it done right the first time, and any changes cost money so best to think it thru ahead of time. I would NOT want to create the problems my mothers document caused. a decent lawyer would ask you the right questions, word it carefully, head off problems. we feel it was money well spent. mothers so-called lawyer is a hack .

Back from my physical. Labs came in and cholesterol and thyroid and all were good. Numbers were even better than last year. Now she wants to have an ultrasound done of the nodule on the thyroid that showed last time, a colonoscopy since it has been 10 years ( I asked if we couldn't wait another year, nope), a dexa scan since it has been several years since the last one, and maybe a specialist for the arthritis. She did an arthritis panel today. She thinks my arthritis and the way my wrists are shaped with bones jutting to the side coupled with severe dry mouth that keeps me awake at night should be checked into, as those two things could go together. She mentioned things like Sjogrens would do that. She has some form of arthritis herself. One of her joints on the back of her hand is raised way up. She only works two days a week now. That is sad for her as a doctor. It would be limiting. I heard my daughter in law who worked in their office say rheumatoid arthritis. She said her arthritis panel did not show anything, but there was something and we should have it checked. I had read this before, that sometimes there are oversights because the arthritis panel doesn't show. I was hoping I was done like usual for another year or so!

Judy, I love the flooring and the colors go well with the walls and trim. I stuck with Kelly's 15# dumbbells and 2# dumbbells. I think that it was plenty. I almost put down the 15's on the first weight segment with overhead stuff. These are timed. I think my shoulders and neck were fine with it though.

Valerie, I have always loved watching fireworks and listening to the patriotic music at the displays. I haven't been to a show in a long time. The last couple of years I went to my daughter's and sat in her back yard to watch the fireworks her smaller city shot off. I don't care for it that people want to start early and do it for several days before and after the 4th of July. It wakes me up and makes Gertie bark. We have a skylight in the living room and the upstairs bath. It is right over the sofa and I can't sit there when the sun is directly overhead or I have it bearing down on me and it is almost blinding. It is fine in the bath though, because it provides extra light. Gertie likes to lay behind the couch on the rug when the sun comes in through the sky light. It is not easy to dust and clean as it is two floors up into the peak of the high ceiling. I have to get a long extension duster and lean over the railing of the upstairs balcony. I must be really getting used to no caffeine as yesterday I was so tired before we left for church and decided to drink my pre-workout drink and had a Porto coffee shot which I keep just in case I want some caffeine to keep going. My hands were literally shaking. I didn't like how it felt at all. Usually I get very little affect with the pre-workout drink, but that little coffee shot tipped the scales. Fortunately it didn't last long. I tried to take a nap when I got home and of course by then it did not work at all.
We, keep trying to put our things together and have it easier for the kids when we are gone. With my family when my Dad was gone there was not animosity at all even though it was a combination of two families, hers and ours. No one argued over anything and we all agreed, and gave some extra things to the other family over and above the house. I got way more money than I expected. I got the piano which everyone new my Dad wanted me to have. Then we just collected things that we wanted. To me if it is in the family I am fine with it. I think my brother that was relinquished the job of handling things to took the rest of the books that I didn't take and my other brother took the photographs. His wife was supposed to put them all together on a drive and give them to all of us, but that has not happened. I have plenty and we had made copies of many old photos when my mother was still with us.

The doctor wants to send me to a doctor that does the colonoscopy that uses a less intense cleanse where he gives the patient a special meal to eat. She says it is supposed to be much better and she has started recommending him for her patients.

Today I did Strong and Sweaty PHA Training for 45 minutes and 265 calories burned. My average heart rate was 123 and maximum heart rate was 149.

Deb, I hope you get your AC fixed. It’s hard to sleep when the room is hot. Great job with 21 Day Fix Yoga. It sounds like you have more yoga workouts than you realized.

Judy, that flooring looks great!

Diane Sue, I hope your physical goes well today. Are you getting the shingles vaccine? I’m glad that you enjoyed the KCM Raw workout. It sounds like a good one.

Hello to Valerie and Lori. Have a wonderful day Ladies.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday.

Diane Sue, good news on your test numbers. What is a dexa scan for? That KCM Raw workout sounds interesting. The method was to not have any caffeine for 7 days before the test. Supposedly it makes your breasts more tender, so it is supposed to not hurt as much as well. That colonoscopy prep sounds a lot better than the regular one!

Judy, the flooring looks great! I wish I would have put something like that in our bathroom. Is this just the half-bath?

Valerie, that is too bad about the fireworks in your area. We are lucky that we don't get much except for the actual 4th. There are so many parks and places that do the displays that I think people just like to go to those more then setting them off in their yards. etc. You have central air right?

Carolyn, I do have a couple of yoga DVD's, and have some in my "watch later" list in YouTube, but I really don't find many that I want to do more than once. The 21 Day Fix one is maybe one I will do again.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Deb-We're using this flooring for the first floor of our condo. We'll be putting new carpet in upstairs at some point. The plan is to finish the half-bath this week, but we might be able to get more of the flooring down too.

Deb, the fireworks issue is big here because indian tribes, there are many, & not subject to the same laws and enforcement. anyone can buy Indian fireworks. they sell things not legal outside reservations and there is no way to "police" what is taken off reservations. they set up stands all over the placve so you don't have to travel far to buy a ton of explosives. we are subjected to loud explosions (for a million stupid reasons) all year. new years eve is awful. mostly not colorful aerial displays, those are usually the 4th or NYE. explosive things like M-80's that go off at all hours of day and night. every year there are news reports on the fires, damages, and lost pets etc but there is way too much going on for law enforcement to "enforce" much of anything. at least this year has been pretty wet so we don't have to worry too much about fires, at least in western Washington. but that also gives the idiots license to do what they want. there are dozens of small local displays on the 4th so no reason to do your own, but the brain dead choose to make it miserable for all. they seldom clean up the mess after. If I were "Queen Valerie " I would outlaw them except for commercial displays. every single one of them.

we have a heat pump that functions like central air. the upstairs bedrooms don't get as cool as the rest of the house. we think the new skylight glass will help. more heat build up upstairs. our temps have been cool at night.
no workout yesterday.
dexascan is for bone density. usually done every 5-10 years.
Carolyn thank you for mentioning the new shingles vaccine. more effective than the previous vaccine but can make you pretty sore for a couple days. I plan on getting it after my physical in late summer. I think you qualify even if you had the previous shingles vaccine. I had shingles long ago and do not want to revisit.

did our road ride this morning 2 hrs 20 min 26 miles. it was busy to start with but then for some reason everyone cleared out and was less busy than usual. we expect tomorrow will be busy so will stay home, out of the 3 ring circus that holidays have become.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw workouts, Coffey Fit Raw Intervals #1, 34 minutes, 216 calories, heart rate 127 average, 167 max, met 5.8, 2,329 steps. I then did Raw core moves, 24 minutes, heart rate 95 average, 122 max, 93 calories, met 3.5, 208 steps. I finished with Raw Cardio finisher, 14 minutes(actual 12) 1,161 steps, met 6.0, 93 calories, heart rate average 131, max 154. I also did Sarah Beth Yoga gentle hip opening 12 minutes. I didn't add it to my calories or time. Total workout time 72 minutes, calories burned 402.
Raw Intervals used a step and a 7# dumbbell(I used 7.5 and 8) and is 30 second intervals with some light weights added to the moves and ends at 25 minutes with a weighted ab work and stretch. I liked it. No crazy jumping :) Core moves used a stability ball throughout 2 sets of each move.
Cardio finisher did snatch, quick skates, jog, straight jump repeated 3 times then upper punches and jabs. The only weight use was the snatch that Kelly used a 20 for. I started this last week but worried when I saw the 20# snatches and stopped it. Anyway, I used 15# and there are only 8 reps per side each of the 3 rounds. Not real rough. I just didn't want to kick in the neck and shoulder issue again.
I have my dexa scan appointment next Wednesday. I have such a busy week next week with vacation Bible school at our church evenings (they have films for adults waiting on the children) I am signed up to take 6 dozen large cookies. I watch my grandson two days. I could have went to the Arthritis center this Monday early, but with so much going on next week I made it for the following Monday mid morning so there won't be much traffic when finding the place. I may have my husband drive me by it ahead of time. I have to fill out a form and send it back to them ahead of time anyway.

Carolyn, I hadn't thought about the shingles vaccine. The doctor asked about my immunizations. She said I could get the pneumonia vaccine this year. I just pulled my medical file out since I have to fill out forms and I did have the info in my cell, but with all of those replacement phones I went through, I lost my info I had in my notepad. I have never got a shingles vaccine.

Valerie, we have fireworks stands on the outside edges of city limits. They are not supposed to be shot off in city limits. Only the public displays are allowed. But, people buy them and shoot them off in their yards anyway. I would think it would be hard to stop all of them. The police cannot be in neighborhood in the city. I think my husband had shingles once when he was really sick.

Deb, I have heard that about caffeine and breast tenderness and also it increases fibrocystic breast tissue of something like that. I see Valerie answered you on the dexa scan. That is how they have monitored the stress fractures in my hip and mid back. I have lot of yoga dvds, but lean toward certain ones that are not an hour or more long and extremely boring. I like the length of most of the Sarah Beth Youtube workouts.
