Good morning,

Just getting us started....my back is twinging, not sure what caused this, so I may not do a workout this morning and see if it eases up.

Great weather today, good for yardwork......although not good for my back either..

Will check in later...

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did STS disk 30 for ch and ba (64 min.). I'm using 30 lb. dumbbells for the 1-arm rows, 60 lbs for deadlifts, 50 lbs for barbell rows, 50 lbs. for chest presses, and just 20 lbs. dumbbells for my flies because my left shoulder is feeling weird and they don't feel good. I also managed to get in a walk with Max last night.

Very sticky here, although at least it isn't going into the 90s.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for Jacob's Pillow and the performance was excellent, although it turned out that they did the same program they did last year, and I was hoping for something different. My friends who didn't see them last year were impressed, though.

Judy, wow, that is a long workout! How many calories did you burn? Yes, that's a really good idea keeping your SIL in the loop. I think my oldest sister felt like she really let both my mom and me down when I just told her I was moving my mom here after she refused to have her even for a visit and started complaining, revisiting old dramas. Geez, my mom was 90 at the time, and she's still complaining about something that happened in her teens?? I said, "You know, this really isn't about you. Get over it."

Deb, it turns out that the secretary for the agility club lives in Lenox, but the club is really in Connecticut.

How was the race, Lori"

How did the dresses work out, Valerie?

good morning. Our heat pump died last night causing a very unpleasant night. it was fine the day before and it was serviced last fall but it won't turn on "cooling" , only the fan blows. with the holiday week we are going to pay for service today in case there are parts needed that aren't in stock. just when we need it!! humidity is still kind of high for here.

it's very warm here and this house does not cool itself well, plus it's not getting cool at night. think it got down to 60 eventually last night but still very warm when we went to bed. I slept part of the night in the basement on the futon, part on the main floor on the sleeper sofa. dh tried to sleep upstairs with the fan on. no one got any sleep. not likely the guy will be able to fix it, but at least if parts are needed it will get the process going quickly.

3 of the dresses were good. the sleeveless one looked like a muumuu( can't remember how that's spelled) so that will go back for sure. I need a light body smoothing garment. they aren't tight at all but you can see where my under garments are. need a smoother line. something like spanx but less restrictive and longer length I think. Ideas? I orderd some Keen sandals that I hope will be dressy enough because I want comfortable too.

Lynda, strong work!. I don't feel good control with flies much over 20. I'll use weighted gloves but don't feel good at 25. always feel like I might lose control.

Hi ladies!

Sorry for taking a while to get back on. The Warrior Dash was just incredible. We had a blast! Some of the obstacles were really hard and needed tremendous amount of upper body strength. I need to thank Cathe for making it so I could get thru this!!! We crawled, jumped, and ran thru mud most of the entire time. Which made the obstacles even harder because of being so slimy. The great warrior wall was the hardest. You pretty much had this 20 foot wall that you needed to scale by pulling yourself up with a rope. Once I made it over and to the ground I was completely spent and still had 4 more obstacles to go. I did finish and felt like I really accomplished something. I plan to do it again next year.

Here is a picture of our group immediatly after we finished. I am holding the white cup.

Valerie...every one does the obstacles! There were 7 of us on our team and we all helped eachother when we could through out.

Oh and when I walked in my house after the race....chester was waiting for me with his leash. I could not say no so we went for a 2.88 mile walk. Needless to say I slept really well last night!

I am on vacation this week. Going to North Carolina and leaving on Tuesday. I'll be with the same family members from last week for the funeral. My aunt that just lost her husband will be there too. It will be good for the family to get together so soon for vacation and under different circumstances. It will help my Aunt.

Have a great night!

Hi Deb, Lori, Valerie, Lynda & Josie,

Not much going on here. Worked at FIL's yesterday. I did a leg workout last night. I used one of the STS Squat Rack DVDs and did squats and deadlifts. I used my weighted vest and a 25 lb barbell. Tomorrow I am going to start the STS 3.5 month program. I also downloaded Cathe's Basic Step workout. The last time I did step aerobics was over 20 years ago  so I need to start with something easy.

Deb-I hope your back is better.

Lynda-wow that is heavy weight! I can't imagine doing anything with a 30 lb dumbbell yet:eek: For my long bike ride on Friday, the Garmin FR60 said I burned 1,013 calories. I'd say closer to 900 would be more accurate though. I don't think I would burn 1,000 calories in under 2 hours.

Valerie-sorry about your air conditioning. I hope you can get it fixed easily.

Lori-thanks for the race report and photo! That sounds like so much fun!

Judy

Good morning,

My back is still sore, had another bad night, I can't seem to get comfortable so I am tossing and turning all night. It must have been the impact or something I did during agility class Saturday.

Garance, good job on the weights! Maybe contact some of the clubs even in CT and see if they know of any places near you that have classes. They do not have to be AKC sanction to do classes.

Valerie, isn't it always the way? when something goes, it is usually the worst timing..( not that it is ever "good" timing) but with the holiday and all...which dress are you going to keep? I didn't know Keen made dress sandals, I have 2 pair of their water shoes...love them.

Lori, that was amazing! Cudos to you for finishing and thanks for posting the pic.

Judy, wow, even 900 calories is a great burn! I probably should do what you did, get Cathe's basic step workout, I do not have her steps or combos down so I never do her step workouts, usually do not order, or sell them if they come in a bundle. (like the new one coming soon). I used to take step class at the fitness club I belong to, but that was 20 years ago too, and nothing as complicated as Cathe puts together.

Hi to the Retired Josie!

Work, then dog class tonight...we actually went yesterday and got Canine Good Citizen certificates for the dogs...just because they were doing the testing at our club and we had to go there for something else anyway..."they passed with flying colors" was how the tester described them.

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Slept in since I am on vacation. :). Will be working out in a little bit. I have the last 3 STS workouts and then I am done. So this morning will be disc 34 ch&bk and then RIDE. Tomorrow before I leave for the airport it's plyo legs disc 35. Saturday when I come back I will do the last one. Disc 36, sh,bis and tris. Then I am done.

Garance...great job on the weights. we are similar...For flies I am using 23lbs, one arm rows 35lbs, chest press 50lbs, deadlifts 75lbs. I have one 40lb barbell that I use for the plié legs. I add on my weight vest and it's perfect weight for me. This is amazing for me since a year ago the heaviest weight I used for upper body was 10lbs and for legs was not much more.

Judy! Wow mega calories burned. That is incredible. All you ladies inspire me!

Deb hope your back is feeling better soon. So hard to do anything when your back is hurting. So cute with your dogs. Yesterday when Chester went for his swim in the lake I decided to jump in with him. He was wild with excitement that I was in with him. Was very cute.

Valerie...funny on the muumuu. Hope the air is up and running.

Josie...I ordered the T25 with the Gamma set. It was very expensive to get both so I am going to have to really love it otherwise I may send the Gamma back as I am not really sure it it was necessary. I would not have ordered if I did not have the 30 day return option. I do like the idea of a 25min intense workout so I am hoping I love it! Happy retirement!!

Have a great day ladies...working out and then packing for my trip. I am aiming for carry on only. I'll let you know how that goes! :)

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Pure Spice (57 min.). I think I will retire this one after next week. I have all the dances down and they are fun, but the music won't go away.

Lori, my younger son did something like that, but I think it was called a mudder race--excellent term for the amount of mud you have on you at the end. I think he threw all of his clothes away at the end. Next week is my final week with STS and then I go on vacation. All I will be doing is a lot ocean-bobbing and beach walking and no cooking and probably pastries every morning from this great bakery in Avalon. Lots of good reading too, and some soft-serve ice cream before bed. Just daydreaming!

Judy, wait until you get to meso 3--you might surprise yourself when it's only 6 reps at a time. That is a very impressive calorie burn. Does this mean you can eat whatever you want?

Valerie, we live without air-conditioning because we are on the side of a mountain and it just seems to cool down at night really well. But if you aren't accustomed to the heat and humidity, it must be hard. Hope you get it fixed before the holiday.

Deb, I will probably wait until we are back from vacation to research agility for Max.

How goes retirement, Josie?

Hi Deb, Lori, Valerie, Lynda & Josie,

Deb-sorry about your back, I hope it's better soon.
I would love to be able to do some of Cathe's more complicated step workouts but I'm going to have to practice the easy moves for a while before I try one.

Lori-have an awesome vacation!

Lynda-If I do workouts like that several days in a row then it seems like my metabolism goes up a notch and I can eat more. When I did the Spinerval Challenge last December I lost a couple of pounds and was eating quite alot.

Judy

Air conditioning is fixed, but it was not an easy process. the HVAC place was supposed to call us and they didn't, so we called them . then they were supposed to call us back and didn't. it's the first hot weather here, so I'm sure they were busy, but we couldn't even find out if they had the part. so at 1 pm I decided to look at the caller ID on our phone. the calls from the repair person sunday were just 'witreless caller" but I figured it out from the times. so if we can't find out from the main office, I figured we'd call him direct. HAAA! it worked. he got the part and was here in less than 90 minutes. I don't know if it was a company issued cell phone or his own but he was REALLY surprised when we called him!! Whatever! it worked. it's up and running and we have no idea why the 'office" was not on the ball, but that's their problem. he apologized profusely for the lack of response but I'll bet he takes off a head of two .

so meantime we stained most of our deck. exhausting!. no formal exercise, and need to get cranking on dinner. more tomorrow.

Good morning,

No workout today, my back is still bothering me and had a rough time sleeping again.

Lori, lucky you being on vacation! Have a safe and fun trip! I will be off starting tomorrow at noon, until Monday. Heaven. That is so great that you can actually walk to a place that you and Chester can swim! What is a "gamma set"?

Garance, when you say "the music won't go away"..does that mean the songs stay in your head all day? Back to the Jersey shore for vacation?

Judy, you are doing the right thing by getting her basic step workout...I am just too lazy to learn that now I guess.

Valerie, glad you got your AC fixed, and hey, anything you have to do these days, with the way contractors etc are, you got them to do it, IT's Done!

Hi to Josie who I assume is basking in retirement!

Work, then relaxing tonight, no class...YES!

Take care,

Good morning.....just making sure you are ok lynda and you were no where near that storm that past thru.

I will check in later today and catch up.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did STS disk 39 for legs (61 min.).

Deb, sorry about your back. That's probably what is interfering with a good night's sleep. Yes, I think it's called an ear worm or something.

Lori, we just continue to get off and on rain, but no big storms. I know that there has been flash flooding north of here in Vt. and NY, but not here. It's just plain soupy here, but at least it's not too hot. Enjoy your vacation!

Valerie, it sounds like you managed to get action just in time for the holiday weekend. I know what you mean about spanx--not very comfortable especially in the summer. There is a dress brand with built-in shaping--Nue. I have one very nice black dress from them, very snug, but it looks good with the built-in shaping. I also have a dress by Muse where the pattern is very slimming and the ruching along one side masks. I have two DVF wrap dresses that always work for me. Pricey though, but a good investment for me because I wore them constantly in the spring when I was teaching.

Judy, when I was doing a lot of interval training with LIS my metabolism did seem to go up.

Good morning all,

I took today off, and also Friday, so a nice long weekend for me. Love it!

Garance, & Lori, rain, rain and more rain....same here. We didn't get storms, but it seems like it rains for a bit every day. It would be nice if it would do it at night so all the plants and lawns are watered, but give us some sun please!

Garance, "ear worm"...yes that's it. I get that with the annoying radio commercial jingles that they constantly play on our news /talk radio station I listen to in the car.

Valerie, which dress(s) are you keeping?

I may do a workout this morning, not sure if I should..maybe the treadmill....will check back later...

Good morning ladies!

Made it to Charlotte yesterday with no issues. Rain here most of the week. Guess I just can't get away from it. Here to visit family so still a great time. My son came with me which is nice.

No workout yesterday. Ended up doing disc 34 and 35 (plyo legs) back to back. Then took chester for a walk. I have one more STS workout to do then I am done. I really enjoyed STS and will do it again. On Monday I am going to start the 30 LIS rotation. I have heard good things about this. Today while everyone is still sleeping going to do travel fit and perhaps an insanity workout if I have the time.

Deb..the new T25 workouts are broken into 3 categories...alpha, beta and gamma. First two are the main workout then the gamma is a continuation. Just a way to make more $.

Garance...glad all is well. According to the news some parts of the western state had some pretty nasty weather. I now what you mean about the music just won't go away. Looks like you got your money's worth with the DVD. I bet if you retire it for a bit then pick it up again you'll enjoy it all over again.

Valerie...spanx in summer is tough! I like the dresses that garance mentions. The built in slimmers. I am going online to look them up.

Irongrl...good idea with the basic step. I started doing step last fall after a 8 year break and wow I was very clumsy! Never thought to get a basic step to get the moves back.

Josie...happy retirement!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Quick Fix, both workouts (44:39). I was a sweaty mess at the end. The second workout is the tougher one.

DH and I went to see World War Z last night. Really good! These are the worst zombies I've ever seen, so if you're a fan of the Walking Dead or any of those Romero films, you really should see this one. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, is really easy to look at. I think he's good enough to carry a whole film on his shoulders, like he did with Billy Bean, the baseball film. Not superhero acting, but everyday goodness at work--believable heroism.

Lori, I don't know how you get those walks with Chester in. It always seems to be raining in the early evening. Can't grill anything and can't walk. Ugh! Dewpoint is now in the 70s. Enjoy your vacation! I think after my week off at the shore I may do XTrain again. Can't wait for the new series. I love Cathe's step. My favorite one was Rhythmic Step.

Yeah, Deb, I hate those jingles, especially the one about the "good feet store."

Hi to Valerie, Judy, and Josie!

Hi Deb, Lori, Valerie, Lynda & Josie,

I did disc 1 of STS yesterday morning. Wow! I have major DOMS today. All of those pushups really did me in! I felt unorganized, and was having to pause the dvd more than I wanted  I have all of the equipment, but it's in a fairly small area so I was having to move things around a lot, and tripping over things. After disc 1I went downstairs and got on my spinning bike. The Tour De France started over the weekend and yesterday was the team time trial. I rode for 80 minutes while watching the race live on my iPhone

This morning I did the balanced core workout from Core Max, then rode for an hour.

Deb-I hope your back is feeling better today. We've been getting so much rain here, it doesn't seem like summer at all.

Lori-great job on doing STS again! How many times have you done it?

Lynda-I really like Xtrain too. I love the premixes and the bonuses! I didn't preorder the new workouts. I wish I could have but I've spent so much on Cathe dvds in the last couple of months DH would have a fit if I bought more before I finish STS

Hi to Valerie & Josie!

Judy

Hi Ladies,

Still alive! My grandkids are keeping me busy as always. The weather here is a bit cool and humid, but we did get a swim in today.

I got the T25 workouts :). I will start tomorrow an will get back to you later. Have a great evening ladies.

Josie

Happy 4th!

Nice and rainy here, what else is new? I did KCM Power Scupting this morning.

I have to tell you this....so gross....at about 5:15 this morning, I was sitting on the couch with a book and a cup of coffee, and see this light flash in front of the house, almost like someone was walking with a pen light...I also thought the guy across the street was driving out of his driveway, this is the time he usually goes to work.
But it seemed different, not like headlights. I stood up to look, and see this guy parked right in front of our house, leaning on the trunk of his car masturbating, with his cell phone ponted at himself, taking a video I think? Unbelievable. I called John in from the kitchen...and said look, is that guy -----off? He said yeah, and filming it...ugh....I called 911, but he drove away so I hung up before they answered....they immediately called us back, and I told them what happened, described the car, the guy etc... about 15 minutes later a cop came to the door and asked us about it again...said they would be out looking around for him....EWWWWWW....

Nice way to start the day.

Anyway, anyone doing anything fun today? Nothing really planned for today, we were going to do some yard work, but the rain has stopped that....John is talking about going to see a movie. yeah, I can't believe it myself! At least the dogs don't mind fireworks at all. These have to be the most layed back fox terriers we have ever had.

Will check back later to see what everyone is up to...

Happy 4th everyone!

Deb-wow, that is horrible:( so sorry you had to deal with something like that.

Judy
