Good morning,

Very tired after the last 3 days of back and forth to Rochester, but it was worth it. :) So glad I do not have to go back today.

Lori, You must have really needed that rest day. It is good that it is not cancer with your husband. I hope they find out what it is soon and get treatment started. I never thought about the maintenance of a fountain, but it makes sense. I bet you enjoyed that turkey.

Judy, great workouts! Never tried a Garmin for HRM....we do have one for navigation. John's FitBit strap just fell apart last night. He will have to send it in for a warranty replacement. It is only 7 months old. I do the same with the gliding discs. I keep the ROM shorter than it looks like. I always worry I will strain something. Did they end up cancelling the picnic?

Diane Sue, I hope you are feeling better today. It is probably allergies. Everyone I know that has them is having problems. good job on the workouts! I forgot about the 21 Day Fix program. I have the regular one, not the Extreme. I need to look and see if it has a yoga workout. Agree on the FitBit sleep recording. It is usually right on with my awake times too. Now that I know it subtracts the awake time from the total before reporting it I am happy too! :).

Valerie, thanks for posting the recipe. I like the idea of using the French bread on top and baking. John has the same thing happen in his office with appointments, but not to the same degree. When people call to make an appointment, depending on what it is, they are allotted a certain amount of time. For example, if the come in to see John for something bothering them, they can't also get their teeth cleaned, if they just ask when they are there. Same for an extraction. If he sees they need one after an exam, he will do it only if there is time, or they have to make another appointment.

Carolyn, good workouts! That is interesting that both your brother and sister have Crohn's. I did not realize it ran in families, did they tell them that? Or maybe it was a coincidence?

A workout and Keegan needs a bath, otherwise I am relaxing today.

Take care,

Deb-Thanks! That's too bad about John's Fitbit strap. It's good that it can be replaced under warranty. The rain held off and we had the picnic after all. It was a nice afternoon.

Deb, the French bread topping was easy. soak the bread like you are making French toast. I usually buy small baguettes so it's easy to handle the pieces even soaked. a good way to use up slightly stale French bread. the vegetables are flexible. I've used the recipe for 20+ years usually after thanksgiving turkey.

Scheduling used to be less of a problem when each office set up their own appts. many clinics( around here) use a remote "scheduling" office to schedule for dozens of docs. these people may have no idea who needs a longer appt time. Older people with complicated problems, especially when they have a care person with them, can't be covered in 15 minutes.

I think dentist blocks an hour for cleaning with hygienist. I am usually done faster since I'm not complicated and do it 2x a year. so it works both ways, sometimes the standard amount of time is too much.
I had that happen at my dentist last time. a crown replacement appt turned into a root canal 2 days later.. I was lucky... got it scheduled quickly. all went fine. Having all the supplies set up and the right person to assist. well.... it wasn't anything you could do with a few minutes to get ready. I was pleased with how it all went. If I have to wait, I try and consider how I'd feel if I had a bigger problem than expected, and it took longer to deal with. I'd want it handled right even if time ran long.

tough garden day yesterday and let it go at that. thought we'd ride this morning but we both overslept and then it was drizzling.

This morning I did an Ellen Barrett 15-Minute Quick Cardio for 108 calories burned. Average heart rate was 126 and maximum heart rate was 143 which was surprising since it felt so low key. I followed that with Element Beginner Yoga for Flexibility with Alanna Zabel for an additional 23 minutes. It was a nice workout.

Deb, my husband’s Fitbit strap broke while it was still under warranty and they sent out a replacement strap right away. I was given a claim number and had to email a picture of the broken strap with claim number visible to the technician. The new strap arrived within 5 days. I did some quick reading recently on hereditary factors with Crohns Disease and there seems to be a connection. My nephew (different brother) is having a different but related problem now which is why I wondered about the connection. You deserve a relaxing day after your busy weekend.

Judy, I’m glad that your picnic wasn’t cancelled.

Hello to Lori, Valerie, and Diane Sue.

No workout today. We went to our son's house for a birthday celebration for him and our granddaughter 19. It has been pouring rain. I really need to get outside and do some yard work.

Deb, my Fit Bit blaze is easy to change bands with. I hardly wear the original purple one. I have several band and metal frames for it. I purchased after market ones on Amazon that did not cost much. It is nice to change them out so they don't smell sour from sweating on them. I even bought a leather one just for dress. I have no idea how those narrower bands work. I like how the Fit Bit tells how long I was awake and subtracts that from my total sleep. Last night I got 7 hr 26 minutes actual sleep. I was really tired and have not slept well most of the week so I guess I made up for it. I bought an extra warranty on my Fit Bit Blaze, but I have had it for almost 2 years now. I can't remember if I bought 1 year or 2 years more warranty from the original.

Valerie, I don't think I would like that type of scheduling system. It is not very much lie caring personal touch that I think should be there. It seems like it wouldn't be so good for the doctors either. My dental visits are pretty short. I don't know how much time they block. A bit longer for the appointment with the imaging which is one of the two appointments a year. The one hygienist that I get all of the time has cut down some of her days and then goes to a smaller town on Wednesdays to work. She always says she has her favorite patients and wants my husband and I to schedule on Tuesdays with her. She says we pay really good attention to dental care.

Carolyn, good job with the workout. I often wonder why some of the lower key workouts I have done would have a fairly high calorie burn than I would have expected or even felt I was getting. Did you purchase your Fit Bit straight from Fit Bit? I remember reading someones complaint on Amazon reviews about Fit Bit not wanting to help them with a problem because they did not buy it from Fit Bit.

Diane Sue, I bought my husband’s Fitbit from Amazon and mine from Target. Amazon is an authorized dealer for them. We both have the Charge 2 and the band is very easy to change. I had no problems at all with customer service.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Vertical Loading 2. 58 minutes, 282 calories. I like this weight lifting format a lot. Cathe said that the next one she does ( #3) will be using the Fit Tower. That should be interesting.

Judy, nice that you were able to have the picnic. It is a pot luck style? Are there games for kids etc?

Valerie, gardening can substitute for a workout, especially if it is a tough job.

Carolyn, was that flexibility yoga a YouTube or a DVD? Did you contact FitBit directly when the strap broke? John went on their site, and sent an email. It was the weekend so he will probably hear back this week.

Diane Sue, that was nice that they had a combination birthday party. Nice sleep! What kind of metal strap did you find for the FitBit? I have the Charge 2, and am really getting tired of the rubber type band. I would be interested in a metal or leather one for a more dressy look. I miss wearing my dress watch.

Hi to Lori,

Hope to do a cardio workout this morning, then puppy class,

Take care,

Deb, it seems like Cathe has several live workouts where she uses the Fit Tower now. Nice job on the workout. The FitbBit Blaze has a metal frame that you snap the watch face into. The frame is what the bands attach to. I have silver, rose gold and a copper folored metal frame with different band colors attached. I have a brown leather band with the gold colored frame. They do sell metal watchbands too. Two of the after market bands I purchased are a bit more breathable material. I will have to post a link. I also bought an aftermarket charger that does not require me to pop the watch face out of the frame to charge it like the Blaze charger does. I will check and see if I can post links. I bought a large in the original band that came with my Blaze and I rarely wear it. It is purple and a bit loose. Fit Bit wants entirely to much for their bands.

Today I did ICE Rock ‘m Sock ‘em Kickbox for 48 minutes and 356 calories burned. My average heart rate was 133 and maximum heart rate was 165.

Deb, I contacted Fitbit by phone for my issues. Follow up contact was by email. You can find several bands for the Charge 2 on Amazon. I am planning to order one for a less sporty look.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

This morning I did Amy Bento Rumble stopping at the heavy bag, 44 minutes, 283 calories, heart rate average 125, max 165, met 5.8, 3,474 steps. I then did Kelly Coffey Muscle Up legs and arms workout #2, 35 minutes, 154 calories, met 4.0, heart rate average 103, max 142, 467 steps. Total time 79 minutes, 437 calories.

Good evening ladies,

Saturday I did the SB workout of the day which was an advanced cardio strength. I then did Barlates Bounce and Barre. Wow! That was a tough one. The lower barre segment was hard especially after doing the SB workout prior. This barlates workout was just over an hour long and the SB was 30 mins. I was completely worked and then some after this! I felt like a power jump workout so I did one that I made up. It was 40 mins of 6 “Electric Intense” segments, as they call it, strung together. Been a while since I have done one of these and it was great! This morning was a LEKfit interval to include upper but I subbed in the SB workout of the day for the lower segment.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. We do know what it is and he is meeting with a surgeon for a 2nd opinion Wednesday morning. I was not very clear. I am still in disbelief he has to go thru all of this. His colon is in a bad way requiring surgery to take out some of his large intestine to straighten. He also needs to have his appendix out due to mild inflamation. Makes sense to do this at the same time. Minimum of 5 days in hospital. Then 5 to 6 weeks recovery. This is why he is getting a second opinion. I feel so bad for him. He is very distraught and I can’t blame him. We will know more on Wednesday.

Deb...the turkey was delicious! I had a sandwich for lunch this morning. I have not done any of the vertical loading workouts. Using the Fit Tower will make me want to do one.

Valerie...you both must have needed your sleep! Your recipe looks delicious. Thanks for posting.

Judy...that is great you were able to get the picnic in. Wow a 2 hour ride. You go girl!!!!

Carolyn...his doctor was leaning towards Crohns before he received the results. I have heard Crohns is hereditary. Good you have been fine. Nice workouts. Awesome your knee is doing well. I have read some call Leaner Legs - Meaner Legs!!

Diane Sue...I like the couple amy bento workouts I have done. Still do not get what happened with her posting Youtube rebounding. Oh well. That Rumble sounds great. Going to see if I can find info on it. I believe Cathe has 4 Live Fit Tower workouts and I love them all. Been ages since I have had waffles. Yum!

Have a great night all!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Jessica Smith Boost Metabolism + Muscle Lower Focus and today I did Jari Love Extremely Ripped 1000 Hardcore. This was my first time doing a Jari Love workout. I liked it. It was challenging and it went fast. I would say it was similar to X10 in intensity.

Deb-The picnic was sort of a pot luck. The condo association bought meat and chicken and one of the residents did the grilling. I helped set things up, tables, etc. and everyone brought a side dishes or snack. I don't think anyone even thought of having games but that's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll suggest it for next year.

Lori-I don't blame you for getting a second opinion. I'm so sorry that your husband is dealing with this.

Diane Sue-Great workout today and great weights too! I need to get a pair of 17.5 lb dumbbells.

Carolyn-I found replacement bands for my Charge 2 on Amazon too.

Hi to Valerie!

Judy

Lori, bounce and barre would be a fun combination. Rumble is not a real high impact kickbox type workout. More precise movement patterns with kick and punch combos 4 different combos and then a set of drills with the weight gloves off. It then goes into heavy bag work. There are premixes which are nice. I really do like the heavy bag work too. I left the dvd out of the case holder till I am done with it. She has an excellent 15 minute dynamic stretch on this one that I have don quite a bit using 3# dumbbells. It is different than the usual stuff. It is good your husband wants a second opinion. That is some major stuff to go through.

Judy, I like Jari Love's workouts. I wish the music was a bit better. I usually burn quite a few calories with her workouts. She uses the step a lot, but has options without the step. We have had a couple of neighborhoods that had parties like that. They closed off an area, and there was food and they did have games like Deb mentioned. They have some things here, but we have never done them. Every halloween there is a gathering at one of the pool cabanas and dress your dog in costume with prizes and then a dog parade through the area. I like using the 17.5# dumbbells. Sometimes 20 is just a bit too heavy. My Bowflex weights have that increment and a 22.5# increment which have been useful.

Good morning!

Yesterday I did Live "Move It", 38 minutes, 228 calories.

Diane Sue, the FitBit Charge 2 must be a little different than the one you have. I don't have to pop the watch face out to put it on the charger. The charger snaps right on to the Fitbit face. The ones you posted look really nice. Your watch face is a lot different from mine. I will also look on Amazon too.

Carolyn, Nice calorie burn! John got a response from FitBit. He needs to send a picture just like you had to.

Lori, so sorry Bob is going through this. I can see why he would be so distraught. Keeping him in my thoughts for the meeting tomorrow. Good that he is getting a second opinion. I think you would like the Vertical Loading workouts. Best thing, NO CORE!

Judy, good workouts! that picnic sounds nice.

Hi to Valerie,

Take care,

Diane Sue-I agree about the music in Jari's workouts. I'm surprised it isn't better. I like how she used the step in the one I did yesterday. Definitely a good calorie burn in her workouts.

Deb-you are inspiring me to do a Live workout!

Lori what I have read is Crohns causes are unclear but there is some genetic component to it, but what activates it in some people and not in others is unclear. and then the degree of severity is pretty broad. he should get a second opinion. He has seen a gastroenterologist for this, right? is that who would do the surgery? He should read all the "lifestyle" things that can make things better or worse.

I finally got a copy of my mothers will yesterday. took > 2 months to get it. my sister and I were removed from the will. My brother, his wife and his son get everything. we are entitled to nothing except "what can be agreed upon". we are not even mentioned, one reference to her "children". and my mother signed this document! ! this is not at all what she said. we are contacting a lawyer to get an opinion about whether this is worth challenging. in principle yes, but legal fees are likely to be more than the amount of money at stake. I expect it is not worth the money and the hassle but will decide soon. I do not have copies of previous wills etc. this was put together by my brothers devoutly Christian wife, and lawyer who make a huge heavy handed point about their devoutness with symbols and "bless you" sprinkled everywhere. ''what goes around comes around" hopefully applies here.

I did a spin yesterday 40 min and core from High reps. planning on a road ride today although might change to a mt bike if it doesn't clear off a little. a wildlife bonanza yesterday. we've got a little spotted 0fawn that has been lying in our vegie garden and I finally got a good look yesterday. he gets up and scoots as soon as he knows he's been seen. got a pic but not a good one. and then I saw our little resident alligator lizard in the same spot.

Today I did Maximum Intensity Strength which was the scheduled workout in the rotation. I’ve only done this oldie 2 or 3 times. My time today was 1 hour and 32 minutes with 317 calories burned. Average heart rate was 104 and maximum heart rate was 143. It was a great total body workout that left me feeling spent!

Deb, great job with Live Move It. I also enjoyed the Live Vertical Loadng workout when I did it.

Lori, I’m glad that your husband has a diagnosis. Not knowing what is wrong can be very stressful. It’s good that you are getting in such nice workouts.

Judy, I like Jari Love’s get ripped workouts. They were the first metabolic workouts that I tried and I got great results with them. I did them weekly for about six months and I still go back to them occasionally.

Diane Sue, the Amy Bento Rumble sounds like a workout I would enjoy. I usually think that her workouts are too high impact for me. Her step workouts have very challenging choreography.

Valerie, I’m sorry about the situation with your Mother’s will. I came to the same conclusion about the genetic aspect of Crohns Disease. I think that the lifestyle factors are a huge component for my siblings. When I tried talking with my sister about it, she was totally closed to any discussion.

Today I did Ice Low Impact Sweat workout #2 step with the blizzard blast, 38 minutes, heart rate average 133, max 165, met 5.9, 247 calories, 2,885 steps. I then did Fit Split Bonus abs, 13 minutes, heart rate average 104, max 144, 210 steps, met 4.5, 65 calories. I finished off with Youtube Sarah Beth yoga 20 minute vinyasa flow, 20 minutes, 46 calories. I also did some work with my yoga tune up balls. Total time was 71 minutes, 348 calories.

Deb, I spent some time looking at the Fit Bit Versa (newest one came out in spring) and the Ionic which came out last fall. Both of those are water resistant. Some people swim with them on. I have accidentally jumped int the bathtub with my Blaze on a few times and immediately dried it off and it was okay. It is not said to be water resistant though. People swim with the others on. One of the differences in the two newer ones from the Blaze is they have wifi as well as bluetooth so for some things like running, gps you do not need to have your cell phone with you. There are other features that I wouldn't care so much about like it holding music, apps, some FitBit pay thing. Ionic is really a costly watch and for some reason the Versa is more in line with what I paid for the Blaze. I chose the Blaze for the larger screen so I can see the text messages on it. That is handy if I am somewhere and have my phone muted and I just want to take a glance to see who it is. I don't know what all of the features are on the Charge 2. The Blaze has built in workout programs you can do which I have never tried. But, the screen is big enough to see what moves you are to be doing. I think you can reply to texts on the newer ones, I am not sure though. From what I read on an outside source for the FIt Bits, most people would be fine with just the basics that are on the Charge 2. The newer ones have more workouts choices to track, and more screen choices for the watch. I think Blaze has 12 clock displays. The others you can arrange what and where you want things on your read out. There is a charge for some clock faces on the new ones. Not all of them though. The Versa does not have to be taken out of it's frame to be charged they changed that. I like the after market device I bought that I can just set my Blaze on with it in the frame and band attached.

Valerie, did someone tell you your sister in law put the will together? A true Christian would not be greedy. I wonder what prompted that. I always figure those people that do that sort of thing will get there reward someday and not a good one. Thankfully we have not had problems with anything like that with the loss of our parents. I am truly sorry things are like that.

Carolyn, Rumble is one of the least impact I remember of Amy's workouts. I do find that her impact to me is not as bad as some of Cathe's. It is more choreography on the step workouts. I do like them a lot though and she has done some good weight workouts.
