I'm back again! Wow, great mini vacation with one exception. weather was sunny & pleasant, camping nice and quiet.
Our first mt bike ride was a disaster... a loop trip. we'd checked out both ends of the trip, the whole thing was maybe 12 miles with 6 miles on a hwy to complete the loop. the middle section of trail was overgrown with huge blowdowns and completely un-rideable. we were barely able to climb/fight our way thru the woody brush. the only reason we kept going was it would have been even worse to go back uphill against the brush. we both looked like we'd been thru a war when we finally got down to the rideable section. scratched, bruised, incredibly difficult. We should have asked more before trying it but we'd had good luck with other rides from this book. apparently maintenance has not happened for a couple years except for parts of the trail we'd checked out last year. but everything else went well.
did a hike and several other mt bike rides and all were fun and plenty of work. fun kind of work. we do a bit of birdwatching too and very interesting birds. june is great for birdwatching here. saw owls, grouse, lazuli buntings, osprey, spotted sandpipers, bluebirds, orioles, hummingbirds to mention a few. we keep lists.
Wow, Deb those puppies are darling. they do look like guinea pigs! Yeah, get 2 so you don't need to choose.
Cathy, darling pics of the grandkids & dog. don't know why you have trouble seeing it, we all can.
Josie, I've never seen Tan Towels before. I was thinking I'd read that Cathe uses those? I get kind of reddish brown and all the self tanners are too yellow on me so I can only use a tiny bit. all the ones I've tried smell. Pew.
Hope Joan is enjoying disneyland and that it's not too hot.
Geez, 1979... sounds like a million years ago. amazing how electronic gadgets have changed & taken over so much of our lives. phone booths... where have pay phones gone? It's hard to think of anything that hasn't changed dramatically since then.
