Lori, I am sorry your son is no longer working for the company. I know that must make it tough for you and him. Okay on the ankle weights. I used to put two 5's on one leg for floor work years ago. I think Kelly puts 10# on each leg on one of her raw workouts for toning. It sounds like you have found the workouts that are perfect for you right now. Funny, that you have found a liking for abs and core work :) Kelly is doing those Ripped and Ride workouts each month to be used with a spin bike or other equipment. The May she just filmed, not up yet though, looks fun. It will be riding and doing heavy bag instead of the usual weight intervals.

Valerie, keeping the camper covered for protection is a really good idea. I remember my husband and I talking about finding something to cover our fifth wheel with. It was big with the pop outs. The first home it had a bit of protection from being between the house and the storage shed and lots of shade. We had concrete poured there and got rid of a deck for it. The second house when we poured concrete, it was much more exposed to the sun and elements. I do dislike the flash flooding. Driving and not being able to see is a terrible problem too when the rain is coming down like that.

Deb, I hope something shows up on your portal today. I hate having to wait till someone gets around to letting me know results. Yes, that workout is a Coffey Fit Raw workout. She is doing one Ripped and Ride workout a month. She has another that I have done that is riding with some kettle bell work followed by weights and then back on the bike.

Carolyn, nice workout today. I have not looked at the May rotation yet. I went to Sprouts today and some of the things I wanted were gone. They had some protein bars that were 10 for 10 dollars I wanted to get more for my husband who takes them for lunch. I buy the whey ones. They only had peanut butter ones left and he does not like peanut butter. But, they had Primal Fuel collagen bars four for 5 dollars and I picked up those and some Amazing Grass effervescent that were still on the 25% off today and I also got a rebate from Ibotta on. So it was worth going there.

Good morning

No workout yesterday. I skipped agility class too, as my knees were really hurting and I didn;t want to make it worse.

Valerie, the medical community is getting so frustrating overall. ( I am sure that is part of the reason your DH retired!. John is getting to that point as well. Got a message on the phone when I called the DR office that starting tomorrow, they will no longer take prescription refill requests by phone. You have to do it in the portal, or call your pharmacy. I guess at least there is the pharmacy option. I keep wondering with how much has to be done on line nowadays, how older people who have no computer skills are going to manage health care and other stuff that they are used to doing by phone.

Carolyn, I looked at the May rotation and it looks like a good one. I like all the weight work, it's exactly the format I love, with total body, upper body, lower body and 2 cardio days. I would only have to sub come of the cardio...( like the IMAX ones).

Diane Sue, if I was feeling better, I would definitely look into starting the KCM streaming. She has some great workouts, and I always liked her style and personality.

Getting my Saab inspected today. Not having much luck in selling it so far. A couple inquires but that's it.

Take care,

Deb my DH blames his hair loss on the last few years of practice! it got incredibly frustrating. electyronic medical records was a huge game changer, and not all positive. a lot of things have changed and continue to change, not all for the better, not all for the worse, but different.
because my sister doesn't have internet service, I see how crazy it is to get the simplest things done. she has to go in person to things that would be a click on two online. she has finally gotten a cell phone in the last week because its part of a Medicaid program where they are considered essential now. she didn't understand how to put it together & get it charged, but a neighbor did it. it's a cheapie smart phone. I will focus on getting her to do phone calls. I think a simple flip phone would have been better to start but there weren't choices. She would be so much better off in senior housing apartment where there are other people or services with rides to appointments and shopping but she wont take the steps.

I'm not sure I can get refills online. most prescriptions say on the bottle if they can be refilled and # of times before a certain date. beyond that I'd call. many of my docs are not on the same portal as the primary care, there is no other access but call the office. another technique to try to force you to see only people in one group. I like I can refill from the pharmacy directly with the rx #.

raining this morning, was not forecast. we were going to mt bike but I'll do indoor something later.

Today I started with a short 5 minute warm up from a JS workout. I then did Leaner Legs (Cross Train Xpress) for 49 minutes and 163 calories burned. My average heart rate was 103 and maximum heart rate was 148. This workout has a stationary warm up and I like to warm up with a little cardio.

Deb, I’m sorry that your knees are giving you so much pain. I like the looks of the May rotation too. I plan to start it next week.

Valerie, that’s good that your sister finally has a cell phone. So many things require us to be connected through smart phones or internet.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Lori. Have a wonderful day.

Deb, sorry about the knees. I find all of the new ways of doing things and using the internet really taking away from the personal care that people used to get. :( It is like no one really cares. I remember when my youngest was just out of high school and worked in our doctors office for awhile. She was cleaning up their files and spent a lot of time driving up the street to storage to grab files to be organized. Then everything was put into the system. Later changing the computer systems. It is not necessarily for the better. I used to get call backs after tests much more quickly and they were personal calls. Not waiting for some email. I tried to do my prescription refill in the portal and marked for them to mail it so I did not have to drive to the arthritis center to get it. It never came and when I called the said I would have to call because they do not pay attention to whether it is marked for mailing. We had a couple come over from our church to do background checks on our computer since they did not have internet or computers. I don't know how people live without it. I have to get text message codes get on my social security account. It is rough for some of the elderly. I have a friend that still runs around with a little flip phone. I love Kelly's Raw workouts. Her selection is growing quickly and she has started categorizing them by types of workouts. She has some premixes from some dvds that she was able to do. She says some of the older ones are not set up the same so too hard to put on her streaming.

Valerie, the medical facilities keep having to change with all of the standards. I don't know how smaller communities deal with all of that. I do like that the Arthritis center has it's own labs and does x rays and dexa scans and stuff right there. They have a room for other treatments and ivs etc. and they have their own pharmacy. I just wish it was nearer to my house. I just call and have my prescription sent here. They did ask if I wanted all of my prescriptions transferred there and I said no. I don't have any other prescriptions. Just the one anyway. But, if I need antibiotics or something from my physician, I would rather go to a pharmacy close to home. Plus, I discovered that they close early on Fridays when I tried to get my prescription filled and ran out.

Hi Everyone,

Tuesday I did Ramped Up Upper Body and Yin Yoga from Ultimate Yogi. Wednesday I did an 80 minute Spinerval. Last night Chris got a flat tire on the way home from work. We decided to get a new set put on his car today. We have to drop his car off at Firestone this morning then he will drop me off at work and use my car today. Yesterday was interesting at work. Two more people quit so that makes 3 in the last week. I had to deal with a very angry customer yesterday and that kind of ruined my day. I'm starting to feel like I made a mistake with this job. Chris told me to just quit but I don't want to do that. I'm going to try to make it through the garden season and assuming they want me to stay after my 120 days is up, I will cut my hours way back and limit my availability again so I'm not working weekends.

Deb-I'm so sorry your knees are bothering you :( My right knee has been acting up but the yoga seemed to help. I agree with health care being so frustrating. I have a routine visit coming up next week and I had to log into my portal to confirm and then I had to fill out the same form asking the same questions that they do every year, even though the answers never change.

Carolyn-Great workouts this week! I like the look of the May rotation too. I think I'll be starting a LiTe rotation next week as I think that's one I can do with my current work schedule.

Lori-I'm so sorry about Nick losing his job :( That has to be especially hard for you. It's finally starting to warm up but there is so much rain. It's flooding in some areas near us. I definitely crashed last night, lol! I went to be at 9:30, which is pretty early for me.

Valerie-Our old primary care doctor retired last year and I know it was partly due to his frustration with computerized records. There are some positives, and I do like having access to online records and being able to set up appointments without calling, etc.

Diane Sue-Awesome workouts this week! I see that Kelly has a new Ripped & Ride out for May. I might have to try that next week.

Have a great weekend!

Judy

Judy I never realized how hard a job ti would be working at a HD. retail & dealing with the public all the time you will get people not on best behavior.. I never thought the job would be physically hard but I believe it now. bummer on the flat!
my DH, like your doc, did not grow up with computers &keyboarding. things changed so much, its a problem for many. now a days the doc barely looks up at the patient, so busy entering data. sometimes people use Dragon ( voice recognition technology) but its far from perfect. I did transcription for years and I know how hard it can be to get the terminology right even when you listen and replay the recording over again and you know what the doc most likely said. voice recognition prints what it thinks the doc said and you get some pretty crazy things! docs seldom have private office space anymore, and have to work in rooms with large numbers of people talking and making phone calls. not conducive to clear thinking for many. and the different software systems unable to talk to each other! certainly some positives but a lot of negatives too. and if something gets into the record that is wrong, just try and get it out of there.

I ended up doing shopping yesterday, ran out of time for a workout. will mt bike this morning.

This morning I did Upper Body Trisets from the Low Impact Series. My time was 69 minutes with 278 calories burned. Average heart rate was 108 and maximum heart rate was 148.

Judy, I’m glad that you were able to get in some workouts and a nice ride. Like Valerie, I never thought about how physically taxing the Home Depot job would be.

Valerie, it’s not just the medical profession where technology has taken over, and not always with positive results. Before my retirement some of the technology changes being made added to the stress of my work day. I like technology, but there are times when verbal communication can be a better choice.

Diane Sue, nice job with Rhythmic Step and Stacked Sets Upper Body. I hope that you like the Upper Body better than Stacked Sets Lower.

Hello to Deb and Lori.

I was in medical equipment sales and training for a long time, until my job ( and a lot of other jobs) got eliminated. early 1990's. I never found anything similar, tried a few things , and finally started doing medical transcription for my DH thru my own business. after a few years, that job also went into obsolescence because of the change to electronic records and loss of written medical notes. it happened very quickly. when docs had to type their own notes, wow did things get a lot shorter and less detailed. this was NOT a change for the better. sometimes people use Dragon type programs, but mostly everything has to fit into check boxes now with little explanation. completely different from dictating into a recorder, and handing off the tape for someone to type up. colleges were still running training programs for medical transcription when the job didn't exist anymore for all practical purposes.
computers sure changed everything!

we did a mt bike this morning, trails are open for the season. we rode more than 8 miles and some new trails. it was fun and very nice. 2 hours and a few minutes. I lost 3/4 of my mileage because the sensor on the wheel must have gotten knocked out of place and stopped recording at 2.75 miles. I didn't notice until we were finished.

a lot of small rural hospitals cut services and end up being taken over by bigger medical groups. a lot of small rural hospitals here have turned into clinics where hospital services get taken over by whatever corporation took them over. not always a good thing but hospitals are expensive to keep running.

Today I did the new May Ripped and Ride Raw workout, this was fun and time went by fast. It moved from around 4 minute spin segments to the heavy bag. She does say you can shadow box with dumbbells. I wore my combat gloves. This was 43 minutes, heart rate was 122 average and 152 max, met 7.0, 273 calories, 2,797 steps. I then did Kelly's Slim sculpting core and abs premix with the 15# kettle bell, 32 minutes, 132 calories, met 4.5, 466 steps, heart rate was 103 average, 139 max. I finished off with Kellys Body Design Yoga, 13 minutes, 37 calories met 3.0, 46 steps. Total time was 88 minutes, 442 calories, 3,309 steps.
I have enjoyed my workouts this week and kept them lower impact for most of it, other than Rhythmic Step.

Judy, so many people quitting makes it harder on those of you who are working there. I wonder why they quit. I think they have a bigger turnover of employees at the Home Depot near me. When we lived in the smaller city they had a Lowes and the people that worked there were all so pleasant and friendly. I liked shopping there. Maybe it is dependent on management? How the store is run? It sounds like they have pushed a lot of hours on you that you did not ask for. I had to take my husband to pick up his car today. We went to lunch and then picked it up and I ran across the street to Walmart. It was time to get his oil changed and according to service protocol for the warranty on the Taurus he needs to have the tires rotated each time as well. I really enjoyed the new Ripped and Ride. Kelly does shadow boxing during the last boxing segment. She says you can do the bag if you want.
More rain today and flash flood warnings. I thought we were supposed to have a nice day and was going to grill london broil. I may have to do something else with it and cook it tomorrow if I have time. We have my second to the youngest grandson here tonight.

Carolyn, there is a lot of miscommunication when people are not actually talking to each other. Expressions and wording is important. I do not care for it when someone says they will put it in the system and I walk away and they are talking to someone else. I often wonder if the chance is that it won't be done. I like Stacked Sets Upper. It seemed a bit easier than some other upper body workouts, but getting the weights correct for me will make a difference and I like the new moves in it.
Nice work today. I was looking at some of my older weight workouts and thinking I should pull them out again. Also the STS Total Body one. I want to do Stacked sets lower again. I keep thinking it will grown on me a bit.

Valerie, I can only imagine trying to interpret for transcription. I don't even use the voice recording on my cell phone and asking the phone to find things for me. I have seen my husband repeatedly trying to get the right person to call with his navigation system. It never seems to understand what he is saying. It comes up with other names and it can never seem to understand addresses. It is easier just to type something in and have it correct the first time. I think a lot of medical facilities here are bought out by larger medical groups. Then the different groups like Integris and Mercy are putting up smaller hospitals and medical clinics all over the place.

there is a training period with the Dragon program where the device "learns" your voice and pronunciation by practicing with it. it helps according to what I've heard, since there's a huge range of english-as- a- second language, foreign medical grads, and just regional accents. a lot of clinics are too cheap to buy the program though, and make everyone keyboard in everything instead. young people now are usually good on a keyboard, but older people never learned because it wasn't needed when they were young. they usually don't get very proficient. DH is a hunt and peck person and can't use my keyboard after the letters start to wear off. I'm not a touch typist either. I cannot type with my thumbs. when I see people texting like that.... I think we are genetically different!

diane sue I think you will like stacked upper. you will for sure need to raise some of the weights. I always feel well worked overall in a short time period.

Good morning,

I was MIA yesterday due to a sudden development of a UTI, Ugh, long story. Ended up at my medical group's same day care, they took a sample for a culture, gave me meds for the meantime, ( which I am terrified of taking), and I should get the results by Monday. Hopefully, they will find that the med they gave me is the right one for the bacteria identified. Also got my knee x-ray results, nothing critical, lots of medical jargon. I looked up one term which meant swelling/liquid is present. I could have shown them that! I will wait until Wednesday and discuss with PT person.

Valerie, I feel sorry for people like your sister, but not sure why she won't go into a facility where she can get some of those services. In my DR office, the nurse takes vitals, then goes over your medical online chart, verifies meds etc. When the DR examine is over, he goes into another exam room and dictates what happened during the exam. I have heard him through the wall while I was waiting for him to come into my room. I could not hear what he was saying, but the tone, and method of speech was clearly him dictating something. John's doctor sits at a little computer table and takes notes on a lap top while he is doing his exam.

Carolyn, good job on the workouts!

Diane Sue, what you describe about medical care is happening all over I guess. Sad. When we used to have a family doctor that made house calls, and now this. I know people can get access on line at libraries, but who is going to help an 80 year old who doesn't know how to use a computer get what they need in a library? Thanks for the info on KCM's streaming. About how long are those workouts? We use Rite Aid pharmacy and can use their automated phone line for refills. I would never think to call the DR office, and now you can't anyway.

Judy, that is too bad about dealing with the angry customer. I guess it comes with the territory in retail. If you stick out the 120 days, maybe they would be appreciative and give you the schedule you want, just to keep you, with all the turnover they apparently have.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Quiick check in and I will try to get back later. My grandson is here and we are helping someone with moving this morning. I did Fit Split Time saver Low Impact Cardio, 27 minutes, heart rate average 122, max 152, 1,920 steps, met 7.5, 174 calories. I lowered the met from workout manager which was 8.5. I really do not get their mets because under the basic group cardio for low impact cardio it says 5.0 met. A lot of older workouts have lower mets from the new ones. Maybe method of the workout?

Bummer on the uti! I had one last fall. Can you include extra yogurt and probiotics to lower the odds of developing c diff?
My primary care person enters data on a laptop during my exam, as do the med assistants. I am envious. I can’t type on laptops. I need a real keyboard. I'm still not a good typist.
No question the switch to electronic from paper input caused some to retire early. the software programs were not easy to learn. group my DH worked for put everyone thru training on one system and after a few months junked the whole thing and switched to different software forcing everyone to "unlearn" what they'd barely gotten used to using and learn a different system. they took away his office, stuck everyone in a small common room, noisy and chaotic, and then the thermostat wars with mainly women ( I would pitch a fit too) wanting it set way too high for comfort. extremely unpleasant working environment.

I turned Siri off on my phone . No interest.

Deb my sister has gradually got herself boxed into a corner. she has lost support and burns people out because nothing changes until forced. she has cell phone ( free) but has left it charging for a week and hasn't looked at it. she got a neighbor to put it together for her. Now use it! I will help her use the phone part but that's as much as I can do long distance. she can't drive anymore. depends on others for rides. when the current dog dies, that will be the crisis that forces change. she would be so much better off in a senior apartment with ride services and low maintenance.

This morning I did Cardio Party for 39 minutes and 289 calories burned. Average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 153.

Deb, I hope that you are better soon.

Waving hello to All. I hope that everyone is having a good day.

Deb, I am so sorry to hear about the uti. I wondered where you were at. I hope the med they gave is right. There is so much jargon that can mean a lot of different things or are terminology for there not being an exact name for what is happening. My family spent time trying to help my Dad with his computer. He did game some knowledge with using it, but also messed up a lot of computers and would end up just going out and getting another and starting over. My husband would try to help by setting him up folders and showing how to access things. I feel sorry for elderly that are unable to work the internet these days.
The nurse does the same thing with a lap top and then I see the primary. But the Primary uses the lap top too. She looks at all of the info and asks questions and explains thing. She has even shown me pictures of what she is talking about online. She even showed me a picture of the doctor that was doing my colonoscopy.
The arthritis center has their computer monitors set up in each room. The nurse enters things and look over my information and asks questions. The doctor shows me things on it. He showed me of the shading on the x rays and explained why it shows Rheumatoid arthritis. So, there is even pictures of that on the computer. The Raw workouts average between 30 and 40 minutes. Some a bit longer and a few shorter, like the add on workouts, there is a very few that hit 1 hour. Pyramid upper is an hour because of the long rests. Front Side Back side is an hour, but she gives a stop point if you want to split it and during the warm up there is a point where you can move on if you want because one half of the warm up targets front side and the other back side. There are also some short ones that are called finishers, but can be done on their own as well. Kelly did make the comment that she rarely goes over 45 minutes and she is done. She also does not do difficult choreography on her raw workouts.

Valerie, so far my primary care seems to have offices for each doctor. Nothing is really open except the lab in the middle of the exam rooms and offices. I am not sure how it will all be when the building sells.
I need to turn that voice off of my tablet. I will be reading and google pops up wanting to help me. I don't hear it because I keep my tablet pretty much muted all of the time. Sometimes I will have the sound just on enough to hear the sound when I plug it in so that I know it is charging, as I have not found a charger that fits snugly into the port and if it is loosened out a bit it won't charge.

Carolyn, nice work on Cardio Party. It is still one of my favorites and I laid it out to do the day I did Rhythmic step.
