Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/24

Thank you for the welcome, all. I workouted out four days in a row, so I have two more days before I get a rest day. I am going to do some step and maybe High Reps for my lower body. I am so slow when I jog,. Does anybody here watch Game of Thrones? I loved the Season Premiere. Room seems interesting, and I read some splatterpunk on my Kindle.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a 45 minute indoor ride. Today is a rest day. My shoulder feels a little better today. I might try taping it and doing a light upper body workout on Monday.

Caitlin-welcome! I am a very slow runner. I do more indoor cycling than running now. I love Cathe's workouts too!

Lori-we planned on dinner out once a week, but then Chris had the flu and then went out of town for work so we got out of the habit. I don't really like to eat out that much. We do like to go out for breakfast on the weekends. I'm going to do SB Pretzel Lift Target, 15 min ab workout & Advanced Lower Body Barre tomorrow. I really like some of the new workouts she has.

Deb-I think the ankle weights would work for leg extensions and leg curls. I'll try them out next week.

Valerie-It sounds like you got some great biking in! I hope to get outside soon too. The weather is just not cooperating here this year.

Josie-I do think the ALC ride in 2018 would be a possibility, if I can keep my mileage up.

Lynda-you should write a story about your experience. I can't imagine going to a funeral of someone I didn't know. That is kind of bizarre. That's a really unusual pronunciation of Yvonne too.

Diane Sue-5 lbs weights for floor work is pretty impressive!

Today I ended up doing Live Cardio Circuit Sweat followed up with SB Bis and Tris. Then I took Chester for a nice little walk. Tried to enjoy the weather today since rain is heading this way tomorrow.

Valerie...sounds like you are having all kinds of technical issues. Hope everything is resolved soon. Imread the book Room but did not see the movie. i remember the book being kind of difficult to read because it was mainly the 5 year (in the book he was 5) telling the story.

Caitlin....Love GOT!!!! Totally addicted. Read all the books and love the show!! 4 days on and 1 day off is a great regimen. I do not do much step unless it is blasts or athletic style. 2 left feet here!

Judy...hahha we posted again around the same time. Great SB workouts planned. The adv lower body barre has her in a white top with blue leggings that are shear on bottom? If this is the one you are doing it is a favorite of mine. Yes she has posted some great workouts the last few months.
 
Lori I remember Lynda talking about not wanting to go see the Room. I didn't stick it on top of my queue either, but I was pleasantly surprised. for me, it was a little hard getting to believe this lady was stuck there for 5-6 years I sort of ignored that, and then it was easier to watch. so I think maybe a certain personality type might be prone to acquiesce to the kidnapper's demands? I can't imagine being that resigned to fate!. the kid is not perfect but I kept thinking what it would be like to live your entire life with your mother in a Room! I thought the acting skills of this kid were amazing. there were other good people in there too, Joan allen ( not looking like herself) , William Macy. and the media firestorm trying to interview her after her escape. I don't know if this is a true story, based on true events or what. it's been a few years since there were new stories about trapped women.
yes we had cable people out this morning and they are coming back either tonight or tomorrow. something about the cable hook up on the pole outside. Be cautious with Nilla if they are coyotes around. we tend to have one briefly and then they move on. people not being careful with garbage or feeding their pets outside can cause this to get worse. we
 
Today's workout was Cathe Live Barbell Upper Body 43 minutes, 171 calories. I then did Live Hi Lo Kickboxing 41 minutes, 295 calories. Total time 84 minutes, 466 calories.
Live Barbell Upper Body reminded me of Les Mills Pump only more brutal. I really was afraid when I got to the push ups and felt it in my shoulder a bit that I might be in trouble. I am not a real fan of high rep no rest stuff that has my muscles screaming. Maybe it is good for me but it has a dread factor.
Starts with a warm up and adds the barbell with the medium and small plates which would be around 20#, overhand
Medium and large plate around 35# triple rows overhand 6 reps? then underhand 6 reps , overhand, dead rows, deadlifts, dead rows
upper back and shoulders 25# barbell dead rows , clean and press, push press
bench with 3 risers 25# barbell (2 large plates) pull over/ chest press with pulses, wide bench press ending with 3 sets of push ups on the mat
Isolated moves
Triceps 25# lying extensions with pulses, triceps dips 3 sets, repeat then triceps push ups on the end of step
Biceps (medium and small plate 20#) I used I used two large plates 25# I was almost sorry :) There are pulses and variations on the counts
Shoulders (medium and small plate 20#) upright row/overhead press 5# plates or dumbbell if you don't have holes to hold the plates, front raise/lateral raise on high end
Abs/core they use a 5# plate I used a 10# for part of it. Russian twist 10# , crunch to overhead press 10#, crunch to 1 arm press 5#,
plank to side plank all on right then all on left
Stretch

Deb, I do the same thing and just try to go on with the moves as Cathe does them. Sometimes I pay for that later. I have an android phone. It is my first one and I am not sorry that I changed.

Valerie, I hope you get your phone figured out. They always moved our contacts over to our new devices for us. The thing that frustrates me is I get facebook people tossed in so I get e mails separate from phone numbers and no matter how many times I try to straighten it out I get it all back and the old numbers I have deleted. I am thinking a paper address book is almost better. I print off my contact info when I get it adjusted so I don't lose numbers and addresses.
I do not like smelling the food too long either. Everything is scrubbed down and the trash is carted out. I mop the kitchen floors every evening. Odd though with some strong smells I still come out in the morning and smell the night before meal. I sometimes do not feel so hungry for a dish that I have smelled all day in the slow cooker. Even my big Honeywell air purifier does not get the odor out. I change the main filter on it every month instead of the up to every 3 months on the instructions. It gets dirty. Gertie likes to lay by it. I would imagine that it pulls outdoor dirt off of her.

Lori, that would be unsettling when you are outside relaxing. I liked the legs with weights and bar when I did it. I got a good burn out of it and felt it this morning.

Caitlin, 4 days on and then a rest day would be great. I keep my days on and off so I have all Sundays off for family days. I have no special television shows that I like myself.

Judy, I am glad that you shoulder is getting better. I have never tried taping something.
 
Lori-yes, that's the one. It's in my list of favorites too.

Diane Sue-I use KT Tape and they have videos on their website with instructions for taping. It really helped when I had plantar fasciitis.

Caitlin-4 days on and 1 day off is a good plan. I think I will try that. I usually take Saturday as a rest day but sometimes I end up going more than a week without one.
