Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/2/2023

we order a lot of things thru amazon and have had few issues. with so much being ordered online and delivered, its amazing how few mistakes, but there will be some. I would do what you did diane sue and make an effort to get the package to the right person but that sounds like a real tangle.

we've had issues mixing apple products and microsoft products. I use my phone for most pictures. my DH uses a photo program on his desktop for our big camera/pictures. somehow all the videos and photos from the phone got transferred to it filling up our storage. my desktop doesn't have a photo program but pics went there too. seems somehow all our storage got filled up and that stopped email from arriving. we deleted a ton of duplicate pics but not sure why it happened to begin with, nor are we sure it wont happen again.
there is a group of "local" phone numbers for the medical group I use. several of their phone numbers simply don't work. No clue why. I get a message from Verizon saying the number is "no longer in service". I have to use their main number and get transferred to the right department. I've complained about it multiple times. I'm not misdialing the number(s) 50 times. I get a 'disconnected" message every time. no explanation. must be above everyones pay grade to figure it out.

raining today so indoor workout later.

on a new PT regime but still doing the old one. some overlap but some new things. then 30 min on the spin bike.

Today I did Gym Style Chest and Triceps timesaver. My time was 37 minutes with 172 calories burned. Average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 165.

Valerie, I’m glad that you were able to mountain bike yesterday and take advantage of the nice weather. That’s very frustrating about the email. Maybe your photos went to your Windows One Drive after one of the recent updates.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Knee Friendly Leg workout, low impact cardio, and stretch. I’m sorry that your knee is bothering you. The virtual WW meeting follows the same format as in person meetings beginning with a brief discussion of things people want to celebrate or challenges they may have experienced. The WW Coach/Leader presents the information and guides the discussion, but it is an interactive meeting. Some people participate verbally and others communicate by writing in the chat. I am one who uses the chat rather than talking. It’s a great support tool.

Hello to Cathy and Judy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did CDorner Low or High Impact Cardio to the Beat following Chris who did the low impact and a friend there that did it higher. This was 28 minutes, 150 calories, heart rate 130/158, 2,987 steps. I then did CDorner Easy 20 minute back stretch/ lower back refresh, 18 minutes, 20 calories. Total time was I removed the wedge I sleep with to elevate my legs, but then this morning my back was sore. Probably due also to the deadlifts. Total workout time was 46 minutes, 170 calories.
I had groceries delivered from Walmart and had to hurry to get showered before they got here. They messed up on the order, but I just let it go. For some reason I ended up with two quarts of whipping cream. I did not order and an extra bag of broccoli slaw along with being missing kombucha tea. I let it go through. The last couple of times I notified them when this happened, they did not want to pick up the items and they made me make a list of the things missing and prices so they could give a refund. Not sure what I will do with all of that cream. I usually buy a pint of Organic cream and it lasts at least a month as I use 1 Tbs a day in coffee and some when I make my husband's scalloped potatoes. I have frozen cream before for recipes and it still works in cooking. Walmart brand cream has carrageenan and additives.
Hopefully I am up for more of a workout tomorrow.

Valerie, I try to keep my devices and computer separate on most things. I know I get pop ups with suggestions to save things across my devices, but I do not want to fill all of them up like that. I transfer new photos to the laptop from the phone and put on an external drive occasionally. I don't want my phone filled with every picture and documents that I have. Somehow it seems to manage to collect stuff though.I do not know why my cell phone now has One Drive and Google Drive on it. Most things I work with and save like Cathe workout manuals are in my Google Drive. Microsoft pops Up wanting me to sign into my account on my phone and I am afraid I will end up with it taking up more copies of stuff.
Calling and getting help is a big headache. For whatever reason they make getting through to them difficult. I always start by seeing if I can find something over the internet to help me fix my own problem first.

Carolyn, Great Job with Gym Style Chest and Triceps timesaver. That sounds like a good way to help people stay motivated to keep their goals for weight loss and nutrition. I would probably be the chat by typing it. Do very many men do Weight Watchers?

This morning I did Gym Style Legs, timesaver number 1. That was 37 minutes and 164 calories burned. My average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 147. I had to go grocery shopping this morning for things that I needed for our Easter Dinner. I was annoyed earlier this week when I went to the store and they had none of the advertised specials that I wanted. I was more successful today.

Valerie, great job with the therapy exercises and 30 minutes on the spin bike.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Low or High Impact cardio and stretch. WW is wonderful for me in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s similar to the support here on the Forum with other like minded people. I’ve tried it both ways over the years and I do much better with the meetings.

Hello to Cathy and Judy.

Well after our short internet outage Wednesday morning, just before 2:00 when the weather really wasn't doing anything, bye bye power. Because of weather issues? Granted there was a lot of bad weather around and moving through, but nowhere nearly bad enough that you would think it would cause outages. Said it would be back at 4:30, then switched it to 10:15. Fortunately it came on before 7:30. Since it was gray out, we had daylight, but not a lot. LOL So, DH got the afternoon off.

Yesterday I shopped, and this morning I did Pyramid Upper Body. The shoulder, tricep and biceps plus core. I'm good matching her on shoulders and triceps for that one, but I was like nope on the 15's for biceps. So, I did 10, 12, 12, 12, 10, 8! Instead of 10, 12, 15, 12, 10. And I always forget how nasty that core work is with the gazillion pikes! I can do them in all the other workouts, but that one, I always need to take a break for a couple.

Valerie computer problems are always such a hassle. I have all apple products which in general works great for seamlessly moving between things. The one issue I have, and no way to fix it without causing issues, is that I have iCloud linked for my iPad and desktop. So, as soon as Derek puts a zoos worth of photos on the computer they immediately show up in my laptop. When it first started happening, I was confused as to where they were all coming from and then I realized. And I can't delete them off the iPad because then they are automatically deleted from the computer. So, next month when he gets home he'll be adding everything from his trip to AZ and the trip he's taking tomorrow to Green Bay. And yeah unless the sun is higher up, visor's are useless to me.

Diane Sue sorry to hear your knee is causing you issues. I hope it settles down soon and isn't a lasting issue.

Carolyn I have several things that Meijer has been out of stock on for the last three weeks. I don't consider either urgent, though one are the sesame sticks my husband likes. For the last year or so they have gone away for weeks at a time then returned and vanished again. It's really weird. For the most part I don't have issues finding things. Next time they show up, I'm buying a bunch of them. I hope you found another way to get what you need.

Wednesday I did Susan Chung's Rapidfire 4 Kickboxing workout. Yesterday I did a 30 minute Peloton ride before work and today I did Raw Shoulder/Neck Limitations. The weather has been crazy here this week. It got into the 70's before the storm on Wednesday and it was freezing and in the 30's last night. It looks like next week will be a little better. I'm hoping to get outside and start running again soon.

Carolyn-Great job with Gym Style Back, Shoulders, and Biceps, JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster, Gym Style Chest and Triceps and Gym Style Legs. We went shopping for groceries and Easter dinner today and had to leave the first 2 stores because they were packed and the lines to the checkouts were way too long. The 3rd store we went to was much easier to get in and out of. I think I mentioned before that I still have my mother’s WW books from the 70’s. It’s great that WW is still going strong and evolving with the times. I love that they have virtual meetings.

Valerie-Great job with your road and mountain bike rides. I’m sorry about your email and computer problems. We have the same issue with the mixing of Apple and Microsoft products. Chris is the Microsoft person so all the desktop computers we have are Windows based. We both have iPhones and they don’t play well with our computers. I’d love to just get an iMac but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon.

Cathy-Great job with P30 Upper and Lower Body and Pyramid Upper Body. I checked my downloads and the Total Body Barre Live is one that I purchased so I’m planning on doing it next week. I’m sorry you lost power. The storm on Wednesday was pretty bad here for a while. We had the generator out and ready to go but we were lucky this time and didn’t need it.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Knee Friendly Leg workout, Cardio to the Beat Low Impact Disco, CDorner Low or High Impact Cardio to the Beat and the stretches. I’m sorry about your knee. I hope it feels better soon. I should think about getting groceries delivered more often. Trying to shop today was pretty frustrating.

Today I did CDorner Toned Arms with dumbbells and tubing, 48 minutes, 94 calories. I also did her Stretch Full Body Static Stretching meant for after workouts or before bed and added some foam rolling, 44 minutes 59 calories. I decided the give the legs a rest today, but wanted to do something. Total time was 92 minutes, 138 calories. I liked this workout as it was not so rough on my shoulders and some interesting ways of using the tubing.

Toned Arms with dumbbells and bands
45 seconds each move
group 1
push ups kneeling option
standing chest press alternating crossing with tubing
dumbbell chest press 10# dbs me (Chris used 25,s)
chest flys 8's me (Chris used 20's)
repeat
group 2
ticeps kickbacks 12# dbs
overhead triceps extension 15# dumbbell (the option is two dumbbells or one)
tubing lying skull crusher single arm
repeat
Group 3
tubing lat pulldown with tubing in front
dumbbell pullover 12# dumbbell
tubing Rows seated on floor
hammer curls 15# dbs alternating
lying biceps curls with tubing 3 pulses and iso hold
repeat

Carolyn, nice work getting in Gym Style Timesaver legs today. I have wondered if stores limit how much of the items they have on the sales being out on the shelves because the day after the sale the shelves will be full. I was halfway expecting to not get some of the things that I ordered because of Easter coming up. I got everything without substitutions except the 1 bottle of Health Aid kombucha that I paid for. I am sure that was an error. Walmart delivered from two different local stores as the one I ordered from had 3 items that said they would ship and arrive in two days, but I guess they found a local store and they delivered the items 3 hours later.

Cathy, they had some power outages around here last week. They had parents pick up the children from school early because of the high winds and outages. I had asked my daughter because I get text messages from his school and since it did not affect us other than really windy was wondering why close the school. That is a long time to have the power out. Lucky it was light out so that you were not sitting around in the dark. Nice job on Pyramid Upper Body. A lot of the time when I cannot find an Item that I usually buy all of the time, it seems to be out of stock everywhere, other than depending on the item I might find it on Amazon with some seller trying to price gouge for it.

Judy, I forget about Susan Chungs workouts. I have a holder that I had put some kickboxing and heavy bag workouts in that I had planned to do before I ended up having the surgery. They are still hanging out waiting for me I guess. I love her workouts. Nice work also on getting in Peloton and Raw shoulder/neck limitations workout. I have used that one a lot. Also used some of the ideas there for modifications on other workouts. I like shopping online and having the stuff delivered. It saves my neck and back from putting those giant packs of water in and out of cart, into the trunk, back out when I get home. Plus I avoid the areas that make my allergies react like laundry and soap areas. I do have an advantage because pull up things I purchase all of the time and X out what I do not want and add them to my cart all at once. The only problem is sometimes I miss taking some things out. I am better at it now though. I have learned to review the orders and I can add in substitutions if available before the shop my stuff. It depends on the store. Whole foods keeps my substitutions for routine things and I only need to go down the list and put subs I would like for new things I have added.

when we first got iphones I had trouble with the interplay between windows and ios. I kept correcting the address and phone contact lists and it kept undoing the changes I made. we had a different combination of products then, but a mix of the two systems. we still have that issue although the contact list works ok now. I remember talking to someone at apple and finally getting the settings right but that was long ago and I'm not clear anymore how it was set to prioritize. cathy I think something similar to what you describe happened with the pictures. DH has a photo program and works with it. my system does not but the photos all went there too. it would be nice to go completely Apple but it would be expensive. we both had work related microsoft desktops/ phones. I switched to an iphone years ago and liked it a lot better but its an investment to go totally apple when you have a laptop(apple) & 3 desktops. mostly we get things to play Ok together but occasionally there is a jam up.

interestingly the big "Apple" story about the half million $$ robbery is a "local" story, our closest apple store. thieves broke in by cutting thru the wall of the bathroom at a coffee business. its a big mall. it wasn't obvious what businesses share walls. it's where we get most of our products since costco is not doing phones thru the kiosk anymore. At&T only. apple stores are very weird places. everyone is knowledgeable but looks like an extraterrestrial. I have no issues with tats but the odd piercings and apparatus hanging off noses is too much.

did 30 on the spin bike, therapy for about 40 min plus x train abs and some tricep and bicep work.

yesterday my sister called and went off on a tirade complaining about how I "had messed up her cell phone" by setting it to spanish and erasing all her phone numbers. really! I have amazing powers. ignoring this one.

Broken nights sleep, and late start, so I did the combos from IMAX 3.

Valerie those are some pretty amazing powers you have to change stuff on your sisters phone. Those kind of powers could be pretty helpful. I haven't been in an Apple Store in a couple years. One thing I will say for Apple is they still have the best customer service of anyone I deal with these days. I haven't used anything that's not an Apple product for over 20 years. My Dad will sometimes ask for help with his phone or laptop and I'll be like - I got nothing, call my sister. Great job with the bike, therapy, abs and triceps/biceps.

Diane Sue nice job with Toned Arms with dumbbells and tubing and the stretch.

Judy is sounds like next week will be the nicest we've had so far. I do wish the temps had more build up so we could acclimate. Friday could be near 80 and then the following week is back to 50's. Temps are just all over the place this time of year. Nice job with the Rapidfire 4 Kickboxing, Peloton ride and Raw Shoulder/Neck Limitations.

Hi Carolyn!

Today is a rest day for me.

Cathy, great job with Pyramid Pump Upper Body. Power outages are not fun. Good that you had some daylight. I just changed my plans for Easter dinner. It won’t be a big meal, but I wanted something special.

Judy, great job with Susan Chung Rapidfire 4 Kickboxing, Peloton ride, and Raw Shoulders/Neck Limitations. I have that dvd and I had totally forgotten about it. It’s nice that you have your Mom’s old Weight Watchers books. I have all of mine from when I first started in 1988. It’s interesting to look back at how far I’ve come. It’s like looking at old photos.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Arms and Stretch. Giving your legs a break was smart.

Valerie, good job with 30 minutes on the spin bike, therapy exercises, and XTrain Abs. I try to keep my Windows based technology and Apple products separate. My husband has a Samsung phone and he always needs help with something. Some things I can figure out for him, but I much prefer my iPhone. I tried to get him to switch when we got our new phones two years ago but he wouldn’t budge.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Yes I am reveling in my powers to change phone data from thousands of miles away by merely thinking about it. Geez. call me Wonder Woman. she called again whining for help with her phone. I have never even seen it. an old smart phone she gets free. if it came with any directions, she long ago lost them. I can get "close" by knowing the name of the phone. she probably never updated it or did any of the set up. even if a full guide didn't come with it, likely had a quick start guide but no way to tell if that matches what's on line now without knowing model #. it had been set to spanish. I thought it still was, but somewhere it changed I assume to english, and now its back to spanish. I could print the pdf manual but approx 40 pages. I know (experience) she won't look at it. not printing and going to PO to special mail it. I suggested she tell whoever got the phone for her (gov agency) that it doesn't work any more, can she please get a replacement. newer would be more current and probably easier to use. this is 8-10 yrs old. phone tech service is not always great, but my sister would be an impossible person to instruct in even the simplest things.

carolyn I had several phones before the iphone, dont remember what they were. samsung and nokia? they were fine. I got my iphone (Verizon) at kiosk at costco until that service went away a year ago. now only At&T service which wont work for us. I will use Verizon store or the Apple store, the one that was just robbed. DH needs to upgrade his phone but he is balking at doing it. expect apple will stop supporting it soon, its a 7s. cathy you are 100% right, apple service is outstanding. the people working in the store were unusual looking. competent but unusual.

old WW cookbooks must be a riot! back in the days of required liver? I have some pamphlet ones from several years ago. I havent had much success with their recipes.

Valerie I didn’t mean the WW cookbooks although I do have some. I still have my weigh-in books where they recorded weekly. I never used many of the WW recipes. I prefer to adjust my own recipes for results that we actually like to eat.

Today I did CDorner Step Class 80's #278, 59 minutes, 267 calories, heart rate 121/148, 3,553 steps. I then did the stretch after step, 17 minutes, 30 calories and decided to do the Ab workout that she had up this week, I did 15 minutes of it and it was 25 minutes total. I stopped at the side plank stuff as my wrist was hurting with the bird dog, knee in and hold. This was 36 calories, heart rate 81/115. Total time was 91 minutes, 333 calories, 3,576 steps. My knee is much better today. I did adjust and modify some of the moves on the step like a cross back across the step, mainly anything that could pull the knee to the side.

I hated the Apple Store here. There was only one in Oklahoma City and they are usually rude, you have to make appointments way in advance and still wait in lines. When new phones came out there they had people wait outside to come in. If you were still waiting and it was near time to close they told you had to leave. They did this to us once when it was still 30 minutes till closing. That is when we quit buying apple products. I have never regretted it. Samsung products work fine, but T Mobile who is our carrier is not good. They are changing up some things in May. I hope it is not a mess up for me.

Valerie, helping someone with a cell phone long distance is near impossible if you cannot handle the phone or look up stuff on that particular phone. I would say T Mobile by us has unusual looking people as well. People do not seem to be hired by their appearance anymore. Mostly the ones here do not look and do not act like they know much.

Carolyn, have a nice rest day today.

Cathy, I am sitting here thinking that I need a nap or something. It has not been a good week for getting rest. My dog thought I needed to get out of the recliner this morning. I hear her shuffling around and look up and she is setting up staring at me and licking her lips like she wanted breakfast. Usually she is lying on her doggie bed snoring.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Toned Arms, Full Body Static Stretching, CDorner Step Class 80's #278 and stretch. I love Susan Chung’s workouts too. I hadn’t done one in a long time. The Raw shoulder/neck limitations workout is a good one for now as I’m still having some issues with my shoulders.

Valerie-Great job with spinning, therapy work, xtrain abs and biceps and triceps. I don’t think we had any WW recipe books but I remember there being a lot of butter beans, green beans, liver and cottage cheese around when my Mom was doing WW. I’m sure they have a lot more variety now.

Cathy-Great job with the combos from IMAX 3. I’m sorry about the sleep. We go to the Apple store in Ann Arbor and have had the best customer service from them. They have some U of M students working there and they have been so nice and knowledgeable. It’s one of the few shopping experiences I actually look forward to.

Carolyn-I hope you had a very nice rest day.
