Happy Easter Everyone! Is anyone using the apps that allow you to see your family etc? We are using "House Party". It is kind of awkward at first, but it is nice to actually see everyone.

Today I did Ripped W/Hiit Chest, Shoulders & Triceps 39 minutes, 133 calories. I forgot how much I like Cathe's true weight workouts. She actually stops frequently for water breaks!

Valerie, I don't think those broccoli plants would work well in a pot! LOL...I like wearing masks for a couple of reasons, besides keeping us from breathing in something that may be out there, it actually keeps people away from you. They see the mask and automatically keep a distance away. Works for me!

Carolyn, great that you were able to do your investment meeting virtually.

Hi to Diane Sue, Judy & Lori

Stay safe

No Deb, I don't either. we plant them and just let them grow. they don't get pests. usually don't need watering. some years we get an incredible amount of broccoli. the side shoots are small so they don't even need cutting up. I snip them off into a bag, ready to cook. plants keep putting out side shoots if you cut off developing shoots but commercially, it would not work for large scale farming. Our dog used to love broccoli stalks and would go in the garden and grab a branch or big leaf of broccoli and chew it down while holding it in his paws. it was really fun to watch. he'd grab a branch and twist it off, take it to a quiet spot and chew away.

no workout yesterday. shopping, cooking, cleaning. today is a garden day. we are having a lovely stretch of weather. also some shopping for sister. now she wants an Instantpot. OMG. I don't think that's a good idea. I don't have one because I never saw a use for one for me. Lori if you are around.... I know you like yours.

Happy Easter! This is another rest day for me.

Deb, I love Cathe’s straight workouts like RWH Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. I like many of her older strength workouts for the same reason. We are planning a family get together on Zoom later today.

Valerie, that’s funny that your sister wants an instant pot. I look at them and think that they are too complicated for me to bother with.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Lori. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!

Had a nice time with the kids yesterday and we did well with social distancing. Will try it again in a couple of weeks.

Valerie...I love my Instantpot and use it pretty much everyday, especially since being home all the time. My son bought one for himself too and enjoys it. It is really easy to use and tons of recipes online. However, it is a pressure cooker and when done - will release a huge blast of very hot steam. Your sister needs to be cautious of this. If not, one could get some steam burns very easily.

We have not used any of the zoom aps for conversations with family. Bob has with his cardiologist but that is it. I see people using them a lot and I think they are great! We have been FaceTiming though. :)

Off to go workout and then make a small turkey for Bob and I.

Enjoy your day today all!!!!!

carolyn I read a little and looked at some utube videos. looks like its a substitute for a bunch of appliances most people already have and likely know how to use. sister thinks it will work better than a slow cooker. probably. I have a slow cooker but rarely use it because it boils everything brutally. I would rather make beans on the stovetop. I watched a video explaining how to cook frozen vegetables starting with a 20 min wait while it builds pressure, and then a 1 min cooktime. HUH? the vegies in the microwave would be done 10x over before its even started. think this will be a no go.
Thanks Lori. but you are computer literate and you also worked..... time was a factor. sister has nothing but time and had enough challenge with the answering machine.

Valerie, that’s what I thought too. I already have two pressure cookers and a slow cooker that I love. I decided to pass on that appliance. I also prefer cooking beans on the stovetop. The pressure cooker is fine for grains and beans when I am pressed for time, but not my first choice.

Lori, its great that you use your instant pot so much. I have been encouraging daughter number two to get one. They are always on the go and rushed for time.

I just went back and read yesterday's posts. I fell sort of off lately with hours different and husband home at different times. He works all weekends and it is taking some getting used to. I was up till 2 am cleaning and kept thinking I should stop and go to bed. Gertie woke me this morning when the leaf vacuum blower arrived. I stumbled out of bed half asleep to get the package and quiet her since my husband was sleeping after arriving home. I dragged around and fed Gertie, made coffee, and left it set after a couple of sips and went to sleep on the couch. I made the mistake of taking several meds that all make me fuzzy and sleepy just before I went to bed. The hydroxychloroquine, advil, Zertec, and I decided to try the lovastatin again. I felt really awful, but after going back to sleep I was pretty good. I won't do that with the meds again. Normally I don't take all in a day and I stagger them. The lovastatin has been a trial. This is my third time trying as I don't know if it is it that has caused my tongue to get sores underneath and swell or the dry mouth from RA symptoms that is worsened by the antihistamine. The other two times I quit taken the sores stopped mostly. Anyway, I am not fond of using it anyway. Afraid of the consequences of taking it. Watching diet for now. I have only retired two days now. The pharmacist said to take it after dinner in the evening is best. If it bothers me just don't take it, when I told him I wasn't really wanting to take it.
Kelly put up a new workout on youtube that is box and tone which looks fun. I watched it awhile ago.

Yesterday I did Coffey Fit Raw Day 3 5 day strength shoulders and legs, 38 minutes, 101 calories, heart rate 99/148. I then did 5 day strength stretch day 5 36 minutes, 38 calories, 103 steps. Later before bed I did a Fitbit 25 minute foam roller and static stretch, 68 calories. Funny how Fitbit figures my calories through the app higher than what my Versa 2 gives me for the same type of workouts.
Today is a special day and I was reflecting on the good since I have had more time to spend in prayer and scripture reading and just thinking about the importance of what today means as Easter Sunday. I usually rest and contemplated a stretch, but did Kelly's new Raw Intervals #5. This was fun, quick paced, and not too log. Low impact as well. 30 minutes, 25 actual as I wrote down the workout moves for reference. Heart rate 101/159, 87 calories, 935 steps.
Workout
uses 10# dumbbells and 15# kettlebell and can be adjusted according to level. It is pretty fast paced so I stuck with what Kelly used. I really liked this. Kelly says she filmed this just before filming as she forgot to turn the cameral on so this was done on her second time through it.
Raw Intervals #5 25:21 minutes
15 # kettlebell and 10# dumbbells quicked paced
does kettlebell, boxing, legs, upper dumbbell intervals
Kettle bell halos with knee pulls
boxing 2 jabs 2 jacks
squat up twist
curl press dumbbells
Kettle bell figure 8's
boxing 4 jabs 2 pumps, 4 hooks 2 pumps, 4 upper cuts 2 pumps
genie arms squat pulses
dumbbells kickstand row/curl
Kettle bell alternating swing
box jab jab hook, jab jab uppercut
reverse lunge kickstand scale
1 dumbbell rainbow and 2 triceps extensions
kettlebell alternating swing
8 jab 8 twist 8 jab 8 uppercut
down to floor
dumbbells sit ups
dumbbells wide bench press with bridge
stretch

Lori, that is so nice that you figured out a way to spend time with the family while keeping distance. My family is too big and our house would be too confined. We would probably have neighbors not happy with all of the people hanging out. We are going to use Zoom next Sunday for everyone. My grandson in law works for a company in IT and is setting it up and sending everyone a link. I am so glad he is still able to work from home. This has lasted so long. I miss seeing everyone and we have a birthday this month we are missing. Hoping to maybe make it up with the 3 next month. I mentioned to husband sending my grandson in law a gift card and he said, where is he going to go spend it at. Well, I guess that is true unless it is online shopping.
I love my instant pot and still use it a lot.

Deb, we are going to try zoom next Sunday which would be our family get together day. I have only worn a mask once and that was the last trip to Sprouts. The only reason I wore it is because my allergies have been really bad and I was sneezing and coughing a lot. I did not want to scare people. I have a blue one that I bought a couple of years ago to wear when outside working to help with allergies. I really never thought it helped all that much though. Glad I wore it though as I felt like I was going to start coughing and sneezing and was able to hold it back, but my nose got drippy and at least no one could see that. It rained today and last night so pollen should be down a bit. I guess a good time for my husband and I to make our night time date night at Crest foods tomorrow. I don't need much. Mainly things he eats and prepackaged type stuff. I wanted to get some quinoa for some recipes. Need things like toothpaste, soap and more paper towels. I looked at Amazon for some of those things and they are overpriced right now and I am not going to spend 30 dollars for several of an item. I will wait. I checked the dog food link and it would be 159.00 for what would last about 23 days from what they came up with for Gertie and her weight etc.. That is double what I am spending now. I may shop around more.

Valerie, so far my experience with the instant pot is being sure to get the highest setting for slow cooking. I came home after putting a dish in mine one morning and expecting it to be hot for family and it was just warm, not even hot. I don't think it will boil anything. In fact I read others reviews and someone said they had to throw a roast away because it sat too many hours just warm, which is more what it should do for keeping food warm setting after pressure cooking. There are specific instructions and I think you have to push a button multiple times to get a higher setting. I have not tried again and probably should. I just mostly use it for quick steaming something, saute and pressure cook. Microwaving kills nutrients. I don't know how it would take that long for frozen vegetables unless you wanted them to cook to much. I don't even think it generally takes mine 15 minutes to build up pressure. Maybe because there are different pressure levels and of course cooking times. I just took a look at my book and on the slow cooking you have to push a button when setting up that is low, med, and high. Obvious to me low is too low. I have made yogurt in the instant pot. Boiled eggs are so easy and easy to peel.
I could not imagine Gertie eating broccoli. That is so cute how your dog would hold it.

As far as masks I still do not see a whole lot of people wearing them and I think they mostly protect other people and not the person wearing them. Depends on what type though. Gloves just don't make a lot of sense. Sanitize in sanitize out wash as soon as home and wipe off handles of car and items touched. Takes restraint to keep hands down when I think I might sneeze or something, but I take precautions and use Flonase and use a throat lozenge just before going in and then rush like mad to get back out of the store. With husband there, I can just leave and let him finish if I feel I am going to start coughing. Hopefully middle of the night they let us both in next time. Gloves would pick up germs just as much as hands and need washed when you get home. Lay them in the seat of the car or purse and then that needs sterilized too.

Carolyn, I will like to hear how you zoom experience goes.

Good morning,

Today I did Cardio Coach Vol 2 rev. on the treadmill, 35 minutes, 276 calories. I really believe that this calorie count is way over what the actual probably is. Never have I had a 35 minute treadmill workout burn more than 240 or so calories.

Valerie, I would love to have broccoli in the yard that I could just cut as needed. With what you have told us about your sister, I don't think an InstantPot is anything she should have. Not only could it be dangerous, it will drive you crazy trying to train her on how to use it at a distance!

Carolyn, I hope you had an enjoyable "zoom" visit with your family. I plan on doing the other Ripped/w/HIIT weight work this week. Are you doing the April rotation? Same here on the Instant Pot, we have 2 slow cookers, 1 pressure cooker, and a deep fryer. No need for another thing to have to store in the basement.

Diane Sue, it sure sounds like you had some reaction to taking those meds at the same time. Good that you called the pharmacist to discuss. I am surprised that he told you to just stop taking the Lovastatin. I started taking a supplement that is supposed to help with stopping frequent UTI's...it's called D-Mannose. I read up on it and it seems to be safe. I want to see if I can get by the 6 week mark without another UTI. My SIL has the exact same thing I do, she gets one about every 6 weeks as well. I had some sent to her house. She has a heart condition, as well as being on Prilosec, and other things. She called her pharmacist to ask if the D-Mannose would interfere with her prescription meds and he told her to not take it at the same time as the Prilosec. An Amazon gift card would be a good gift. I did feel that the dog food was very expensive as well. House Party does not need any IT set up....I think Zoom is more for business conferences.

Lori, it sounds like you had a really nice dinner with your son....even at a distance! What is Face Time like? not like the others, eg: Zoom, House Party etc?

Judy, how was your Easter? Are things getting better in the Detroit area?

Stay safe!

I talked to sister yesterday and recommended against an instantpot. I have no experience with one .she is not good at figuring things out, especially with "buttons", and she would have to buy a cookbook or two to learn what to use it for since she doesn't read instruction manuals well and has no internet access. every time I saw that its like saying someone has no indoor plumbing or electricity.
I thought maybe a better slow cooker?... though I haven't had good experience with them, and it looks like instapot has taken over that part of the market. I'm not OK leaving something plugged in and running while I'm gone from the house, and if I have to be there the whole time there's no benefit. I have a lovely le cruset casserole that works stovetop or oven. there are less expensive brands now although mine is so old it was inexpensive. that might do the trick and be less troublesome. I only have one old slow cooker that gets used about once every other year. never had a pressure cooker.

yes the broccoli is nice to have. you need to keep trimming it if you want to keep producing shoots.

This morning I started with WS3 One Mile of Motivation for 15 minutes and 110 calories burned. Average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 147. Then I did KCM’s Cardio Core from the Build and Burn set. That was 27 minutes and 186 calories burned. Average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 167. I finished up with Jessica Smith’s Gentle Yoga, hips and knees practice. That was 22 minutes and 69 calories burned.

We had a night of stormy weather, but no tornadoes near me. My home town in Louisiana was devastated yesterday, but my siblings are all fine. The small regional airport there was pretty much destroyed.

I wanted to buy a new sewing machine, but that is one more thing that has been snapped up during this pandemic! Every online place that I checked is sold out of one that I might want. My current machine is ancient and I can’t get it to work. I haven’t used it in years, but I thought I would get back to sewing. Apparently many people have had the same idea!

Diane Sue, my Zoom family get together was great. We have used FaceTime many times, but that is usually one person at a time. Not everyone has Apple products to be able to use FaceTime. It was good to have everyone on the call and to just have a group conversation.

Deb, nice job with your treadmill workout. I am not really doing the April rotation, but I’m using it as a reference. Each week seems to have several workouts that I don’t want to do right now. Zoom was used mostly by businesses until the current situation. Many school districts are using it now for online teaching which is how I first learned about it. It is very easy to use and doesn’t have to be set up by an IT person, but you do need to follow the company’s guidance and use appropriate security measures.

Valerie, a slow cooker might be a better option for your sister if she just wants to put something on and forget about it. I have an All Clad brand, as does my middle daughter, but, two of my daughters have the Crock Pot brand. They all work very well for us.

Hello to Judy and Lori.

Deb, Easter was pretty quiet here. I took a rest day from working out, my first one in almost a month. Things don't seem to be getting any better to me. I'm thinking of extending my leave of absence to May 15th. Everyone seems to think things will be better by then.

I'll be back to post more later

Judy

I cant see her sitting down and reading a manual and learning how to use it and yes Lori, I can see her letting steam cause issues, she already said she doesn't like pressure cookers for that reason. I don't think she understands that is what an instant pot is. I will see if she is interested in a slow cooker upgrade. she wants to get tough meat tenderized.

we tried to mt bike this morning. lovely day. too much snow too low yet. we rode for about 2 miles but ran into solid snow and could not find another place so we will go back to skiing and snowshoeing with some plain road biking.

I did Coffey Fit Raw Box and Tone which Kelly added to her youtube channel as well as Raw and loved it. It was 29 minutes, heart rate 134/164, 161 calories, 2,720 steps. I then did Raw 5 day strength day 4 total body, 28 minutes, 78 calories, heart rate 101/141, 680 steps.
Total time was 57 minutes, 248 calories, 3,400 steps.
Weights Total Body- Kelly uses a 35# and a 26# plate. I used dumbbells and kettlebells. Kettlebells give me a bit closer grip like they have with the plates.
This is 3 rounds of 7 exercises doing 10 reps
Modified pullovers 25# kettlebell 10 reps; 20# dumbbbell 10 reps; 25 Kettlebell 10 reps(making up my mind)
biceps curls 25# kettlebell 10 reps all rounds
squat/reverse lunge 25# kettlebell held in front 10 reps all rounds
bench press (kelly 35# plate) 15# dbs 10 reps, 25# db 10 reps last two rounds
weighted dips 30# dumbbell 10 reps, 35# kettlebell 10 reps last two rounds
alternating front lunges rt & lft count as 1 rep 15# dbs 10 reps rnd 1, 35# kettlebell rnd 2, 15# dbs rnd 3
upright rows (Kelly holds the edge of a 35# plate here) I used a 25# kettlebell 10 reps 3 rnds

I just made the Jamaican Banana bread, it is delicious Valerie. Thanks for posting the recipe.

Deb, the pharmacist probably felt okay telling me to just stop it if I had a problem with it because I told him I was hesitant taking it and the doctor said it was up to me, but diet change would not get rid of the plaque that was already there. I personally am not sure that is true. The pharmacist did say sometimes after 12 to 18 months the plaque can be lessened when using the statin. I had decided to try it and see what my results are in July when I get another heart ct scan and visit the doctor there. I am kind of sad I have two different doctors for this as one is at the heart hospital that reads the scan and the other is at another heart facility. I sure wish we could just have one doctor so information is all collected correctly in one place. Anyway I did not take the statin last night. I hope the natural supplement helps you so you quit having all of those uti's.

Valerie, I think you are right that your sister would not want an Instant Pot. I had never had a pressure cooker before and was a little apprehensive and spent time reading stuff on it before it came. I have only used the timer on it once just starting a little before we were to arrive home from church, but worried the whole time. I do leave a crock pot cooking when I am gone for soups and stews. I rarely leave with food cooking though. The time I thought I was slow cooking it was just chili and the ground beef had already been cooked using the saute setting, so it just being warm was okay. I just turned it to saute on the normal setting and it heated up quickly and that was really all I needed anyway/

Carolyn, when my daughter and son in law were on their cruise last year we used messenger to talk so they could show my grandson what they were doing and talk to him every day. If we were out in the car I just handed him my cell phone. At home my larger tablet worked well, but for some reason my computer did not work well, we would get a glimpse of each other and then just here each other talk. I have a new computer now so if I had had that it might have been better. The other laptop was windows 8.1. I know my daughter posted a picture of all of them in their different homes using zoom with her inlaws and my younger daughter's boyfriend. They said it was great. Sorry you couldn't get a sewing machine. Everyone was probably trying to make masks or something. It seems I have always had one. I gave one to my granddaughter after helping her learn to sew sofa pillow covers. We started with something simple. :)
It seems I am the one called when someone wants something altered. That is the type of sewing I do not like doing. What reward is there in fixing things. I just like making something new. There is video calling on the android too. I guess everyone would need to have the same platform though.
I should have done some yoga today. It is one of my husbands days off and I had things to deal with so just gave up the idea.

Judy, I sure hope things are better by mid May. I am hoping we will be able to get around family again by then. I would love to have my ladies game day too. It feels like this has been forever.

Diane sue glad you liked the bread. it was from cooking light. I like bananas a lot but mostly with some other flavor added in, like coconut or lime or chocolate. I have one with peanut butter I have yet to test. I just made a similar bread, with lime glaze also from C.L. but DH hasn't tried it yet. it didn't have the sweet topping that makes the jamaican one so special. DH loves sweet bread as do I. I haven't eaten any in quite a while now. still working on WW and I usually don't have points for it. losing slowly but losing.
Sister is really not stupid but there are areas she has trouble with. she has epilepsy and the long life time of anti seizure drugs has taken a toll and made some things harder than they should be. If I had an instant pot and experience using it, I'd feel like I could foresee the problems she might have, but I'm not sure I'd use one much and she doesn't have money to waste on things she wont use. I will do some more reading about them. its not like I can tell her to look it up on Utube!

Carolyn, I bought a sewing machine a few years ago at Costco, an unlikely place. DH had used mine and broke it by "over muscling" what he wanted to do. I bought it on a whim but its a nice machine. does way more than I need it to do. they are all computerized now. I only sew things I'm forced to do. I don't enjoy it at all.

Today I did STS Meso 3 Chest & Back. It felt good to do an STS workout again, it's been a long time.

Deb-I remember D-Mannose from the health food store. I hope it works for you.

Diane Sue-Nice workout! That sounds like a good one! I agree, it feels like it's been forever since life was normal.

Valerie-I don't think an insta-pot would be a good thing for your sister either. A slow cooker upgrade sounds like a much better idea.

Carolyn-I'm glad you didn't have any tornadoes near you. We had wind warnings all last night and today.
So many things are out of stock due to the pandemic. I noticed Amazon was pretty much out of stock on dumbbells and the ones they do have are way overpriced. Also, Ulta.com is out of several hair colors. Fortunately I have some of the temporary grey cover that I use between hair color appointments.

Hi to Lori!

Take care,

Judy

Good morning,

Today I did Ripped W/HIIT Legs, ( the Strength Only premix). 29 miutes, 153 calories. We went to BJ's this morning to get some things. I am exhausted! What used to be a quick run in and out, thing, is not a stressful trip, from getting out of the car, until we are unpacked at home. Yes, they were out of toilet paper.. We have not purchased any, since this all started. We felt we had enough and did not want to hoard. Now that we are starting to run low, of course there is none.

Valerie, what was your sister's reaction to your advice on not getting the Instant POt?

Carolyn, that's horrible about your home town, airport etc. Good that your family is ok. That is really strange about not being able to get a sewing machine. I would never have thought that people would start sewing....all of a sudden? Sewing is usually something that you either have done for years, or never have done at all.

Diane Sue, great that KCM has expanded workouts to her YouTube channel. Are those part of her streaming or are they public for anyone to use? Agree, it would seem to be better with one heart doctor, and less confusion. My nieces and I use different platforms: I have the app on my Samsung phone, while they all use IPhones. It works really well with the mix.

Judy, great job on STS. :). Are you going to do one of the Meso's regularly? I read or heard on the radio that dumbells were out of stock in many places. Strange. I guess people feel they have the time now to do a workout.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

I didn’t do a workout this morning. I went to Kroger’s and Costco and wanted an early start. Neither place was bad. There were no crowds and I was able to get everything that I wanted. I even got hand sanitizer from Costco. Both places had great distancing set up and people were following the guidelines. I wore my homemade face mask, which I like better than the one that I ordered online. Mine fits better and I didn’t worry about constantly needing to adjust it. That would not be good.

Deb, I was very surprised by the sewing machine situation. Maybe they are people like me who already know how to sew. I started sewing when I was 12. My grandmother had an old (antique) Singer machine which was what I used initially.

Diane Sue, I agree that mending is not a very motivating sewing project. That’s why I haven’t used my old machine for such a long time. I have been thinking for a while that I want to try some home and craft type projects.

Judy, great job on STS Meso 3 Chest and Back. My daughter ordered some dumbbells a couple of months ago to be able to do more at home workouts.

Valerie, it didn’t occur to me to check Costco for a sewing machine. I need to see what they have online. What brand is the machine that you got there?

Hello to Lori.

Deb so many people used gyms for workouts, and who knows how long that will take to get opened up again? many people may not want to risk exposure from equipment used by a million other people.
IMO gardening and sewing are two projects people can take on when out of work and stuck at home. it must be where all the seeds went although I found another seed rack at a pharmacy and got what I needed. sewing to make masks.

I hate sewing. do it for shortening pants, fixing husbands jeans, that kind of thing. ETA I actualty I did some big projects, made seat cushions for our VW camper, made goretex jackets and pants for both of us when we were young, other outdoor gear. I never enjoyed it for one minute.
Carolyn the machine I got at Costco is great, but more complicated and touchy than old mechanical ones. DH wants the knees patched on his garden jeans and getting even a free arm machine down to the knee area is a lot of thrashing around. I do it, but not happily. DH tried to do it himself once, and he jerked things around and broke a gear. the machine never worked again. Forget anyone doing sewing machine repairs. that was Viking. I never thought costco was a place for sewing machines, but one day they had them in the entry display for a great price, so I got one. I wish it were simpler but it works well. ETA its a Brother XR 1355 it is several years old. I think it was around $200 at the time. it is "close" work threading it and filling the bobbin. my close vision is good so I need to take out my contacts to see what I'm doing. I hope to hit costco later today and will look for sanitizer.

Deb my sister understands her limitations so she didn't argue. I gave her some money for the year so this is her money she is spending. she has gotten things she couldn't figure out, put them out of sight, out of mind. I'm going to look into another slow cooker tho at first look all I see are instant pots.

Today I did Step Boss Step Sync timesaver #5 finished product 3 times, 38 minutes, heart rate 107/151, 175 calories, 3,673 steps. I don't know why, but I was not winded even a little bit through most of this today. I then did Raw abs finisher, 18 minutes 45 calories, 317 steps. Finished with Fit Bit down dog (guess this is the name of a fitness streaming site) energizing yoga flow, 16 minutes, 44 calories, 17 steps. This yoga was just the typical flow of yoga moves. Total time was 72 minutes, 264 calories, 4,007 steps.

Valerie, Cooking Light generally has good recipes. There are instant pots with more buttons and ones with less one button features. I don't use a lot of the featured buttons. It seems I mostly use pressure cook and set that or saute to do the browning before I pressure cook. There are soups and stews buttons and that sort of thing. I think the main thing is timing and making sure the valve on top is facing the proper way when pressure cooking because you wouldn't want it turned to release the steam. I stand back when I do quick release to let the steam out rather than wait. Some recipes tell you to quick release. Most soups I just quick release. I use it on recipes that are not instant pot recipes and have acquires an idea of about how long to set it for since I use it so often. I have had expensive brands of sewing machines and I will tell you, my Brother sewing machine I got at Walmart 6 years ago works great. I just have to get out the book because it does have all of those computerized settings for different stitches and the pressure feet are coded with numbers. I don't sew often enough to remember the settings when I pull it out. When I got I wanted one to be able to use for sleeve openings and this one also had a wide base attachment for quilting which worked great for the T shirt quilt I made my granddaughter for graduation from all of her special old t shirts. She loves it.

I will come back, Gertie is pestering my husband because I have not given her dinner and it is after 6.
