Good morning,

No workout yesterday, but I am planning on starting again today.

Lori, great that you found a way to really enjoy those workouts. Looking forward to your rotation. If you had to pick a workout with high reps that you believe work your arms to get them the way you like them, which would it be? If SB, or another, is there a DVD or YouTube video that you would recommend? I may do the Push and Pull workouts from FS this week, but sub the cardio. I also have that new Live "Move" on my list for this week.

Valerie, those slopes sound tough! That's great that you are still attempting to conquer them. Is the person who wants to start the wedding etc venue one of the homeowners there?

Diane Sue, glad your shoulders are better. Those are great KCM workouts....I forget to keep looking at what I have from her. I like her kettlebell ones.

Carolyn, hope you feel better today. Sinus headaches are awful.

Waving to Judy!

Take care,

Deb, I always thought Cathes older workouts like CTX ( particularly the all upper mix) was a good high rep or her Power Hour workout. I wish the older ones had the pre-mixes the newer ones had. I really like that KCM has so many mixes on it. I dont recall doing the both mix without thecswings before.

Valerie, I know rural areas are a lot more lax on rules and regulations. One of our neighboring cities has a neighborhood fighting an adult novelty store. I hardly notices hills here in Oklahoma city unless itcis icy.

Deb we have a standard set of CC&R's for homeowners. everyone gets a copy when they buy a property here, so he can't act like he didn't know. responsibility falls on him to understand what he bought. we have nothing ridiculously restrictive. designed to protect us from problem businesses that could bring in traffic, noise, etc. He bought this property, which was very large structure to begin with, and extensively remodeled, in 2016. we are zoned for single family residence and owner is supposed to live in the home.
if someone is running an internet based business or has a home office, no one gets upset. when I did medical transcription, I worked out of my home office but it got no attention. I was sitting there typing and printing on my home desktop, same as I do everyday.
a business that would bring in hundreds of cars, serve alcohol, overuse our water system, clog up small private roads, or not have waste systems ( we are septic). the wear and tear on roads, the noise. we just spent $150, 000 on a gate system to help screen people who don't live here. people who run wedding venues can do several events in a day during peak season so we are talking many many vehicles. people who live near could not get to their homes because of parked vehicles along side of narrow roads. no way could an emergency or fire truck get thru.
If the county code enforcement stands would stop him right away. we can't rely on it. we are assessing everyone for a legal fund to hire a lawyer and stop this before it gets going. a lawyer addressed us yesterday. it will be harder to stop if he gets a license, which he does not have yet. money will be returned if we end up not needing it. there was a second home that tried this on a smaller scale, but she was a renter and we shut it down because the property owner was her ex spouse and he stepped up. it gets dicey. we think that yesterdays show of force ...most property owners showed up.... and anger may make him see there is going to be a fight if he proceeds.

Until you ride an area on a bike, or walk it, most people don't realize where hills are. cars make it so easy. diane sue, yes, when there is ice or snow is a time drivers notice hills. Hills make for posture changes that make longer rides more interesting and less postural fatigue. just flat is kind of boring.

I did Rock em, sock em and the core workout yesterday. so I am weird... I like riding uphill AND I like core workouts.

I made this 2 nights ago. so simple and so good. had the recipe for years and had not tested it. could sub another fish but I used tilapia. I made half. 7 WW points. I served over small amount of brown rice.

I feel much better today but I am taking another rest day. The headache is just about gone and I am able to move around without dizziness and throbbing pain. This is the downside of spring and seasonal weather changes for me.

I checked my stevia again after our discussion last week and discovered that it contains dextrose :(. Dextrose is listed first on the label. I don’t use it often enough to worry about but it annoys me that it’s not what it is advertised to be. I won’t buy it again.

Diane Sue, I too wish for premixes on some of the older Cathe workouts. She has gotten very good with those over the years.

Valerie, I hope that you and your neighbors are able to keep that business out. That’s a terrible thing to do to a residential community. The tilapia recipe is similar to what I do with white fish. In fact, the original recipe that I used was in Cooking Light or Southern Living and was called Vera Cruz.

Hello to Lori, Deb, and Judy. Have a wonderful afternoon everyone.

Carolyn I'm pretty sure I got the recipe off the |cooking Light forums, but people used to post things from other sources. I've never looked at BHG myself. I was reminded of it by someone on another forum made up mostly of people who used to post at CL.

the stevia I finally bought also has dextrose as a first ingredient. it does make things sweeter. as stevia by itself is tasteless to me. I've only used it once or twice. still like brown sugar better.

Good afternoon ladies,

Yesterday was a huge calorie burner. One of the highest I have ever had...I started off with Cathe’s most recent Live Move It then went into FS Pull. I finished off with a BBS bounce. Total time was 91 mins / 751 cals!! That is crazy! According to my Apple Watch my high HR was 190. Not sure how accurate and I know I need to take this with a grain of salt. Tomorrow’s workout is FS boxing and the leg workout. I decided to work legs so will not need to do this tomorrow - today was a quick 10 min SB bounce to warm up then I did Live Fit Tower Cardio Legs. I then continued with legs and did a SB bounce that I love. Not much bouncing but the quad work is killer. Worked great to finish my legs. Total time was 87 mins / 524 cal.

Deb...I emailed you the rotation. Not sure if you have seen it. I am finishing up the FS/xtrain rotation this week then plan to do some JS WS3 workouts then will start my rotation. I love BBS, SB and LekFits upper body workouts. I will look to see what my favorites are. I also love JS 20 min arms which I think you did buy a year or 2 ago. I must have done this one a million times. Good hi rep workout in 20 mins. 2lazy4gym did a great review.

https://2lazy4gym.com/2018/02/22/10-pounds-down-better-body-blast/

Diane Sue...I loved CTX when it came out. I had this series on VHS and when she coverted to DVD I rebought them! That is how much I enjoyed these workouts. Really nice workouts yesterday. I still have not used kettlebells. For some reason they just do not interest me. They look fun but no desire. My left should is the one I need to watch out for. So far it has been great since my last shot. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

Carolyn...glad you are feeling better. I should have known better to call it quits after the 1st month. I am so close now just going to finish it. I am going to sub some of the cardio though. I have had enough of Shred and Mixed impact for a while.

Valerie..that is crazy the guy is moving along with not a care in the world. Hope you are able to block it. I like hills to and always feel challenged. I have always made it up a hill without getting off my bike. I just won’t do it. I love them...well as long as there are not a lot of them I should say! Lol!

Hello to Judy!!!

Have a great night all!

Today was my rest day, family and friend day :) Has anyone done a Yvette Bachman Bosu workout. I was looking at her cardio mash up and thinking that I might like it. I saw it on to lazy for the gym's site. I saw in her blog that she has cancer. That is such a shame. Since you ladies gave me the link and talked about her, I have spend some time looking at her reviews.

Valerie, one of the homes we lived in was in a city that had lots of work out of home people. They are big on fighting against much business buildings being added though and I doubt they would allow something like that. Most have large work shops on their properties and such. Not generally a lot of traffic. I did notice that in my younger daughter's neighborhood that one had added an extra large building and drive and obviously have some workers because when I go there on weekdays there are quite a few cars parked in the large parking drive area and sometimes in front of the house. For the cost of those homes and how choosy they normally are I am surprised it was let go. I don't think they cause any problems though and I never notice noise or anything like that. I guess I would not enjoy just flat terrain either. The same as I don't enjoy sitting on a spin bike without something to break up the monotony. I love core work :)

Carolyn, I really do feel annoyed when I discover that a product I have purchased is not the pure item they claim to be. I hate that products say manufactured in the USA when in reality it came from somewhere else and was packaged and processed in the US. A good amount of collagen products come from Brazil, Argentina, etc.. particularly when it is from cattle. The same goes for some of the protein powders. I keep researching trying to find ones that are completely US products. Why do we have to go somewhere else for cattle and dairy products? This includes well know companies. A lot of honey in stores are not from the US in reality. They are just processed here.
I have bought more bottles of honey home after seeing a manufactured in some state, only to find out in reality it is not really from US bee keepers. Nature Nates organic is from Brazilian Bees, their regular is supposed to be from US bees. As I roll my eyes at this. I was discussing this with ladies that work in Sprouts and we were kind of laughing about it.

Lori, you have got some great calorie burns. I only get higher ones when my Fit Bit gives me exceptionally higher heart rates than I tend to average. I also had CTX on vhs and replaced it with the dvds when they came out. I used to do the abs mix of all the abs, I think on the second disc all of the time. I think it was 35 minutes? I love kettle bells. I have doubles of quite a few different weights so they work well for picking up to do squats, suitcase dead lifts. When I went to the doctor for my shoulder she gave me some muscle relaxers which I think I only took 2 of and a longer lasting anti-inflammatory to keep me from taking so much Advil. If I take Advil or Excedrin more than a couple of days I get ringing in my ears and hearing loss.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Strong Total Body. 46 minutes, 251 calories.

Diane Sue, yes, I wish the older workouts had premixes too. That was such a big change and improvement to DVD's. I actually sold CTS on Ebay...I didn't care for the cardio portions. I don't remember if that series had premixes or not. Never tried Bosu. The woman who does "2lazy4the gym" has cancer? That is sad. I went over to the site but could not find anything about it.

Valerie, I would think that since that homeowner is under a contract, that it would be a "no brainer" that he could not start that business. Is his plan to build some type of facility on his property to hold these weddings etc?

Carolyn, good that you feel better and you are taking another day to rest. It almost sounds like a migraine.

Lori, I looked at the rotation last night and "tweaked" it a bit. I like that it has a lot of room for Live workouts. I had already done my workout yesterday, so the first day would have to be the Live that I did. I think you are right and I have that JS DVD. I will check when I go down there in a bit.

Hi to Judy,

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Saturday I took a rest day and yesterday I did a Spinerval.

Deb-Great job with the Live workout! I like KCM's kettlebell workouts too. I think I will do Slim Sculpting or Strength and Stamina today.
Jen from 2lazy4gym posted a thread about her cancer here:
https://cathe.com/forum/threads/breast-cancer.309281/#post-2434175

Valerie-I can't believe someone is trying open a business like that considering the HOA rules. I hope he gives up before it causes too much trouble. I love hill work too, both cycling and running/walking.

Carolyn-I'm glad you feel better. Those sinus headaches are awful. I agree with Deb, that almost sounds like a migraine.
I ordered a green tea powder from Amazon and when I got it, I noticed it had dextrose in the ingredients. That wasn't listed on the description and I caught it right away so I was able to return it.

Lori-What an awesome calorie burn! You are really getting some good workouts in! I wouldn't mind seeing your new rotation too. It sounds good. I also have that 10 Pounds Down workout. I'll have to look at the 20 minute arm workout again.

Diane Sue-I've been looking that Yvette Bachman reviews and workouts. They look good. I've been thinking about getting a small bosu ball.

Deb, i used the cardio a lot more on the CTX series than the cardio. The dvds had a weight workout for each day, but there was an upper combo of all of it and then the abs combo of all of the abs. I think these were on the second disc.
to lazy for the gym did a blog post I think Jan. 20 saying she had cancer and would not be doing workouts for an undetermined amount of time.

Judy I have had a bosu for years. I love it and used to use it a lot. I also have the bosu ballast stability ball which I use most of the time.

That is Feb 20 that to lazy for the gym posted
UPDATE: I am not sure what I will be posting over the next… year? I have breast cancer and will be getting a mastectomy followed by chemo and radiation then reconstruction surgery, so I have a long road ahead. I will continue to post reviews until the surgery. Afterwards I am pretty sure I probably won’t be posting for a while. I have no intention of quitting working out but I will have to make some changes for a time. Maybe I will post reviews about workouts that are appropriate for rehabilitation. Who knows?

I did 20 running on the treadmill and 10 on the elliptical. I'm trying to very gradually increase the time I can run. so 30 min but better than nothing.
Anyone watch the AA's last night? we saw part of it but our signal drops off for unexplained reasons and eventually the signal breaks up too much to watch. I love watching award shows but apparently you need a cable connection to watch in prime time.

Yes, this "neighbor" has just ignored the usual 'cease and desist" letters. when people ignore rules, it became our job to hire legal counsel and stop him. He certainly has a lawyer and must have been advised he can get away with this. He must have spent a lot of money to upgrade and expand the property. it has a ballroom, about 8 bedrooms and bathrooms. If the county doesn't give him the licensing he needs, that would be the easiest route, but not clear how strong they will be on this. Rules for "hotels" and for "Bed and Breakfasts" and "wedding venues" are all different, as is any kind of food service or a liquor license. It would be so much easier if the county denied him. there are requirements for a facility of this type that he has not met, and his close neighbors are enraged!
we believe we can stop him, but it will cost everyone some $$.
Deb, there was a large house on the property but he has done some remodeling to the preexisting structure. it looks like he added on. there are pics online of the facility. It does not look like a single family residence. at this point I don't want to put a link in to it.

I used to use protein powder but it was a long time ago. Consumer Reports ran an article saying the powders were contaminated with heavy metals, like cadmium and arsenic, so I totally quit using them. I do not know how completely that problem was addressed. supplements are not always regulated that closely for content. It made me uncomfortable so I never bought more.

apparently CR has just updated this topic march '18. ... protein supplements and other supplements. the contamination problem still exists https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/index.htm some of you use supplements... you should look at this. this gets pretty specific, with brand names and ingredients. I get the CR magazine. usually the "online" info is not 100% available right away unless you are a subscriber. it is separate subscription from the print publication. I have not seen this info in the magazine yet, but think it will be in maybe the next issue.

diane sue, I saw that thread before. I hope all goes well for her.

Today I did Fit Tower Advanced Boot Camp. That was 53 minutes and 219 calories burned. Average heart rate was 105 and maximum heart rate 147. I decided to do the Fit Tower/Strong and Sweaty/Ripped wit HiiT rotation from the user guide.

My sinus headaches are very similar to the migraines that I had from childhood to mid-forties. The difference is that I could get some relief from the migraine with sleep, darkened room, and quiet. That doesn’t work for the sinus headaches, but many of my symptoms are the same. I was just talking with my youngest daughter about this because she has the same type sinus headaches. I try not to take pain medication unless I can’t function at all. I have found that my pain comes back stronger after the pain medicine wears off.

Diane Sue, Jengollf talks about her breast cancer in the open discussion thread. Several people responded with their experiences in getting back to exercise after surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. I am often amazed by the knowledge that the Cathe community has about so many things.

Valerie, thanks for the CR link. I am very careful about supplement ingredients and ingredients in protein powders, but things can get by us (like stevia). I try to get everything I need from my foods, but will occasionally use a powder.

Hi to Deb, Lori, and Judy.

Hi all,

Here is the rotation I made up. You will either love it or hate it! I think I am going to start on Monday. On days that list Live cardio or metabolic of choice I will either do a live workout or one of the other streaming sites I use to keep it fresh.

I come back later to check in.

Today I did a Youtube Yvette Bachnan workout, cardio mash up with the bosu. This was 75 minutes (an extra 4 to get back to the workout when the internet went out middle of the workout) 538 calories, met 6.5, 4,438 steps. This had some light weight work in it. Weighted gloves, and 5# dumbbells through most of it and at the end there is some strength that is still pretty active and I used 8's, 12's 1nd 15's. I am not sure I will do it again though as it was too long and I was getting tired of it and almost stopped when it dropped out midway. Tomorrow I will get in some good weight work.

Valerie, I have read that about metals and contaminants as well. Some nutrition sites I have read and ones like Whole 30 suggest not using protein powders. I believe there is some sort of testing that can be listed on the packaging for companies that have went through the correct channels to have their products tested. Then there are those nutrition sites that have their own and make big claims that they have the safe ones. I keep reading all of these warnings on our olive oil and avocado oil that we purchase in most markets as well. I think a person could lose their mind trying to keep up with all of it, but when trying for optimal health I think awareness in shopping is important. I will check out the Consumer Reports link. I used to buy that magazine years ago.

Carolyn, I looked at that rotation and it looks pretty good. I felt sorry fro my older daughter's friend yesterday. She came in and looked wiped out. She had a terrible headache and was laying her head on my daughter's knee, trying to visit. I think I would have went home and crawled into bed. They have 6 children and 3 of them are adopted children though, and I doubt there would be much rest. I was always afraid of taking something for headache pain because it leads to the rebound headaches. There is a lot of helpful information shared here on the forums.

Lori, it looks like you have it planned out well to take advantage of the live workouts :)

we did a mountain bike ride today but it was pretty cold. snowy as we got up higher. 44 degrees where we started, and some light drizzle. bikes can't ride real well in snow, you slide around easily sideways. 1 hr 20 min and we called it a day.

I got a new CR magazine today but it's the car issue so I doubt this report on supplements is in there. it was just a coincidence that I looked it up today. some companies get away with a lot because they are not subject to as much scrutiny from the FDA. CR did an excellent report on rice and arsenic. people start subbing rice products for wheat products to go GF but its easy to get way too much arsenic if you focus on rice too much, especially for children.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was FS Boxing Bootcamp. Don’t think this one will ever get old for me. I then did a BBS jumprope workout. Total time was

Diane Sue...I have not done any of Yvette’s workouts yet but they look great. I came across her by accident several months ago and started saving her workouts for future. I do not have a Bosu Ball and never thought I would use one but after watching a couple of her workouts I just may invest in one. They are so expensive though! The cheapest I can find on Amazon is still over $100. I was very surprised at the price. I changed my workout setting on my apple watch to Hiit vs Open Goal and my Calories burned seemed to be higher. It is either calculating it more accurately or it is way off. I just use it as a guage so will go with the flow. I have been following Jen’s thread and wish her the very best. She is such an inspriation. The workouts she does is amazing considering the car crash she was in a few years ago. She is so strong I know she will be blogging soon

Judy...wow good thing you noticed that ingredient. That is crazy!

Deb...Hope you enjoy the rotation. Makes sense you would customize to your liking.

Deb and Judy..the10 pounds down 20 min arms is a great intense hi rep workout. I use 8lbs when doing it and that is plenty for me. My arms always feel so worked after it. I have done the legs one too and liked it. I have never done the abs workout. :p

Caroyln...I have been thinking about the Strong and Sweaty workouts. I only did them a couple of times when they first came out but that was it.

Valerie...yes bikes and snow are not a good combination. We are getting another NorEaster on Wednesday. This past weekend was messy for a large part of the state. Thousands still without power. We were very fortunate. Fingers crossed we are as fortunate with this next storm.

Have a great night all!

Lori, if I recall my Bosu was 100 dollars. My Bosu Ballast ball was was 59.00. I never allow my grandchildren to play with either of them. They can play with my Theraband stability ball and the Urban Rebounder but not the Bosu items. It would be too expensive to replace. I have a a few Bosu dvds. Tracey Staehle used one quite a bit, Amy Bento also used one in Hi/Lo Dome. I have Bosu Xplode, also a couple of CIA workouts. There is quite a bit you can do with one and Yvette pulled out some good moves and use of it for core as well, so that being on the Bosu constantly was not there, you had some breaks. It is great for balance work. I may try her other one that was a Hiit workout. Although it comes in at an hour. I think there are some shorter ones. That is interesting on your Apple watch. I have thought of your higher burns when I enter my average heart rate into my calorie calculator and it gives me higher burns that are up there like that and I do not even have the VO2 max set up where mine has generally came up to when checked. Fit Bit gives me above the 28 VO2 max which is a bit low, but I leave it there. Workouts like today's come out much higher than Fit Bit and Map My Fitness. Today's would have been 689 calories. I think as hard as I was working that I was probably higher than what I used, but I always go lower on the calculations. I wish Fit Bit worked well with the different settings. Hiit would be a good one. I have tried weights which is very low, circuit, bootcamp, and yoga on the Fit Bit. I do not see a difference from just using workout. And weights, it gives hardly anything unless you are moving fast and constantly and on your feet. With weights I do use the weight upper, lower, or just strength with MMF and it is generally around 100 calories more on the reading than Fit Bit using the same bluetooth heart rate. That is if the workout is 50-60 minutes. I just think that it is ridiculous when I do a tough weight workout and my met value according to calories comes out where Cathe has yoga. If I go much lower I would be sitting on my back side.

Valerie, I read the consumer report on the protein supplements. I never liked the plant based protein powders. They turn my yogurt kind of green and thick and nasty. I have tried several. So, I guess they are the worst anyway. I have used Bio Chem quite a lot, but discovered you have to check which one you get because some have sugar and some has stevia. I realized that when I kept thinking that my protein powder tasted better from one container to another of Biochem and I read the label and saw it had sugar in it. I had not bought the stevia sweetened one. I wonder how greens powders would stand up. I have used those for years. I recently went awhile without it and my reflux started to come back. I went back to using it. Since they are saying organic plant based protein is the worst, what does that say about organic plants?? I remember reading that white rice was better because there is arsenic in brown rice.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live "Move It"...37 minutes, 227 calories. This one is where Cathe does 30 different cardio moves, one set of each...one right after the other. Of course she has water breaks, like she does with the Live workouts. One thing I really liked is she shows quite a few modifications for the high impact moves. I finally know a way to modify those angel jacks. :)

Judy, thanks for the link. Now that you mentioned it, I kind of remember reading a thread somewhere about her cancer. She is so positive and sounds like she is going to keep on doing any workouts she is able to do. I am surprised that Amazon even made you return the green tea powder. Usually they give a refund on food stuff that you want to return and tell you not to bother returning it. They did what with me when I wanted to return some dog treats.

Diane Sue, I had a shock for a second with your post copy of 2lazy4thegym....for a second I thought you were posting yourself. whew! I bet you were pretty frustrated when you lost the internet connection during your workout. That is one of the downsides to streaming. :(. We probably discussed this back when I was having many issues, but what greens powders do you use that help with reflux? I have been getting heartburn again, not every day like before but intermittently...

Valerie, did not watch the AA... I would think the rules would be pretty black & white...no commercial use of the property. I remember those reports on protein powder, but not what the end result was. Thanks for the link. I will go see if any that I have used are on there.

Carolyn, I feel for you with the sinus headaches. I have some OTC sinus stuff I use, but it only takes a little of the pain away. I also use a nasal spray that was recommended by John's Dr for allergies.

Lori, thanks again for the rotation. I like the Excel version, I was able to change it up a bit. Not sure exactly what I will be doing. Yes, I found the JS 10 Pounds Down DVD....:)...I may want to fit the arms workout from that in there somehow. I may do that today.

Take care,
