Good morning,

No workout yesterday, and no agility class.

Judy, it looked like Friday and yesterday were the days for everyone to do the Pyramid Bonus Combo workout. I saw "7 Bad Ktties" did it as well.

Carolyn, I agree, the premixes have changed everything with DVD workouts. There are some that I probably have never done the full workout "as is".

Valerie, I hope you arrived safely and are getting a good rest.

Diane Sue, I think I will pick up a chocolate protein powder, but not a bone broth one. I just can't get used to that smell/taste being in a protein powder. I may start mixing some of my old GNC vanilla with the banana bone broth one, just to hide the taste. LOL .."sticks and twigs" store.

Lori, yes, what is the project? Inquiring minds want to know...and us nosy people too! :)

I am taking Kylee to a match this morning at a different club....trying to work her in different places in preparation for the trial at the end of the month...

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

I have been doing great with my workouts and following SB’s rotation. I also have been adding in some workouts to compliment the workout of the day. Yesterday, was Upper Body BC. It was only 14 mins so absolutely needed to add on. I then did a Lekfit bounce with upper sculpt intervals. Total time was 55mins / 440 cal. The past few other days that I have not posted have been similar...just concentrating on legs or core.

My project is a folding butcher block countertop. We do not have a lot of counter space to prep food. So we were talking how to add and then it just popped in my mind like a switch turned on. We ordered a 50x26x1.5 butcher block top. It is about 40lbs and beautiful. The past few days I have been learning how to install (had an idea) and prepping the location. Yesterday I shopped for everything I need and today is the install. We have a 1/2 wall inbetween the kitchen and tv room so this is the perfect spot for it. We are excited to see the final results. My husband is hilarious...just tell me what to do he says and he will be the muscle!! Lol!

Judy...I do not think I ever did Drill Max DVD. I have do the Live Drill Max. Not sure if they are similar. Awesome on the xpand drive! I loved mine so much I have two. Makes life so much easier with ipads transfering back and forth! I gues I need to look at the pyramid workouts.

Diane Sue...hope you had fun at the jewelry party! I love jewlery. On casual days at the office I have been told even when I am casual, I look dressed up. It is all about the accessories! I received an email from amazon saying Build and Burn will ship the end of March. I am looking forward to this set. I do not think I will do the traditional rotation but add them in with my workouts. They sound short and perfect for this.

Deb...I am going to look at that total body premix. I love total body workouts. Today I am planning to do one of the Live FT workouts. Most are TB. Go Kylee!!! Sadly, I am hearing rumblings of another storm coming this week. Enough already!

Caroyln...I think I finally have adjusted to the time change. What a tough week! You are doing some great workouts!

Valerie...the outside activies you do certainly are better than a dvd!! Have a good trip back.

Hi to Janet!!!! Have a great day all!!!

Good morning!. we made it back yesterday in record time. 10 hrs 20 minutes. we only stop for gasoline, no restaurants. we pack sandwiches, fruit and vegies, popcorn, plenty of water bottles, coffee, and just keep on going. the weather was decent. no snow, rain, or hwy construction. No wrecks. even traffic here in western WA was not bad. we were able to use the interstate the whole way.
this was our first successful visit where we were able to relax and enjoy the place. we have one more furniture delivery in about a month. not a lot of things, but bulky, bed frame and night stands. it is still pretty wintery there whereas here it is spring with milder temps flowers and greening up. We had a huge snowdrift over our driveway that needed to get plowed out, but most of the winter it was clear, so we will add another band to our snow fence to see if we can further moderate it. we park our car up on the road if snow is expected as the issue is mainly our driveway. we think we will pay someone to plow when it's needed rather than buy expensive equipment ourselves. the drift is very solid and not something a snowblower could handle.
we enjoy the wildlife so much there. hope to see much more as we spend time getting familiar with areas outside the park itself. we are about 30 miles north of the park. this is part of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. during winter there is a huge migration of elk out of the park in all directions. much of the land near us is closed to motorized travel for winter and spring to protect them. they move to less snow and lower elevation, and then move back up as the season progresses. We saw WAY more elk outside the park this visit but did not realize they would be so close and so visible. we have elk poop all over our property.... no bison though, they do not let bison leave the park, and any that do are captured and usually killed. the policy is idiotic but its too complicated to type it out.

Lori that sounds like a terrific project. I have a huge island "prep" area in each house. I cook a lot and I like to spread out all my stuff. keep us updated on the project. I once had a stand-alone butcher block unit & loved it. it now functions as a stand for TV and dvd in our exercise room.

Today is my rest day. It’s sunny and warm with lots of pollen. When I go outside I can feel it in my nose and throat. Oh well, I can still enjoy it from indoors.

Valerie, your vacation area sounds absolutely wonderful. So much to enjoy. I’m glad that you had a good drive home.

Lori, great project! How do you learn to install a butcher block counter?

Hello to Deb, Diane Sue, Judy, and Janet. Have a wonderful afternoon everyone.

Good evening ladies!

Our project is 80% complete. Just need to get decorative legs. Right now I am using plain 2x3 wood with hinges to fold up. Serves the purpose but so plain. I will post pictures next week once we swap out the legs. We are very happy with it and may just leave it up. But nice that we can fold down when we want too. I have 2 retro bar stools that look great under it. We have been reading about the care of butcher block tops and my husband is all over that and will clean and season every month.

Carolyn...I had an idea how to install (I get this from my mother), but went on DIY websites and YouTube to be sure. It was not an easy project and glad my husband was into it too. The butcher block weighs 40lbs so needed him to be there. He was funny during this project. Several times he would say this is really backwards. Meaning I had the power tools and he was taking direction!!! He is so fine with it too!! Lol!!

Valerie...glad you are home safely. That is a long drive. We are going to love the extra prep area. We really need it. Going to make things so much easier for us. That sounds like a great TV stand!! Lol!!

Have a great night all!

Lori I liked the butcher block table so much, I couldn't give it away when it didn't fit in this house. so it got 're-purposed". it has a slatted shelf below the block top where all my dvds go in shoe boxes. . we sanded and refinished the top a couple months ago. it's maple I think. about 40 years old and still looking great. a man who can take and follow directions is a rare find. don't let go of him!

Today is a rest day and family day.

Deb, maybe you could mix some of the bone broth protein powder with some almond butter which sort of smooths it out a bit. Or check Dr Axe for some protein bar recipes. I would have to go back and look for the one I used before and loved. I don't mind the taste myself.

Lori, I think a little jewelry can dress up even a plain t shirt. It really does make a difference. Sometimes I wear a lacy sweater over a t shirt with and some jewelry and it looks dressed up. In fact, I did that yesterday wearing a green t shirt when I went to the jewelry party. My 10 year old granddaughter is such a social bug. She was trying on jewelry and wearing it around and chattering at everybody. She had everyone just smiling. I don't think she has ever had a bit of bashfulness in her whole life. She makes friends wherever she goes. Your project sounds great. My husband wants to do something like that with our half all and breakfast bar between the kitchen and dining area. He wants to expand it so he can add some extra cabinets underneath so that I have somewhere to put my larger items. It wouldn't be a fold down counter space though. I bet the butcher block is beautiful. I can't wait to see pictures.

Carolyn, feel the pollen every time I go outside for a little bit. We had a small shower this afternoon so I have not been out much other than to put out trash and walk in and out of houses and cars.

Valerie, I would love to have a huge area to work when I cook. Our kitchen is small and I keep my appliances on the counter as there is no place in cabinets, and besides I like have them handy when I want them. I could probably do without the 4 slice toaster though as we do not hardly use it. But, it won't fit inside a cabinet. It is one of the things that I miss since we downsized and my husband wants to eventually remodel the kitchen are, as I stated above. We, have spring break here this week and I would think that there would be quite a lot of travelers out on the roads.

Good morning,

We went to the match yesterday....I did 2 runs. Unfortunately, she would not have qualified on either, but I was happy with what she did.

Lori, that folding counter top is a great idea! Cannot picture it with legs...do they fold up? You will have to post pics when it is completed. I hope you do not get another storm.

Valerie, the place sounds lovely. We have one of those stand-alone butcher block things to. On wheels, with slatted shelf...and about 40 years old too....it sounds like the same one you have. It is now in the basement with John's "stuff" on it. No idea what.

Carolyn, I hope your allergies are better.

Diane Sue, Your granddaughter sounds like a cutie. what do you do with the bone broth powder mixed with almond butter?

Hi to Judy...

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Saturday I did a 30 minute yoga session and yesterday was a rest day. It was so nice out yesterday, sunny and in the high 50's. It felt like a heat wave. We dropped Chris's car off at Firestone for an oil change and went for a walk while it was being done. It felt so nice to be in the sun.

Deb-the agility runs sound like a workout for both of you! I'm going to do the pyramid workouts again this week. I'll probably do them individually this time.

Carolyn-the pollen count was higher here this weekend too. I felt it when we were outside. I've been taking allegra and it seems to help without any side effects that I've noticed. I need to try the new nasal spray this week and see if that helps.

Lori-your project sounds wonderful! We have so little counter space in our kitchen. This is something I need to look into. A folding countertop might work for us. Live Drill Max sounds good. I'll have to check that out.

Valerie-So glad you had a great vacation and a good drive home. That is quite a long drive!

Diane Sue-Your granddaughter sounds so cute! I have to keep my appliances on the counter too. We don't have a lot of cabinet space.

Judy

This morning I did Ultimate Yogi Yoga Crosstraining. It included strength, cardio, flexibility, stamina, and balance—a bit of everything. That was 64 minutes and 171 calories burned. My average heart rate was 102 and maximum heart rate was 134.

Deb, it’s good that you enjoyed the match yesterday.

Judy, I wanted a yoga day too. I chose a more dynamic practice and I am glad that I did.

Hello to all and have a great day.

Our first house that I bought before DH and I met, was an old style house built in the '40's. had absolutely zero counter space. the only space was next to the sink with cabinets right above. by the time you set a toaster out there, that was it. it also had no dishwasher. I bought a portable dishwasher that had a wooden top and then eventually the free standing butcher block. those two places were my prep area. I learned to cook there and became a vegetarian for the next 30+ years. we moved on to other houses, all with more counter space because it was impossible to have less! the butcher block came with us although it didn't get used in the kitchen much anymore. it was one of the first things DH and I bought together. It was so solid and well made but looks brand new now after redoing the top surface.
I am off to the dentist this morning for a replacement of an old semi crown with a crown. possibly a ride today depending on how this all goes.

our pollen is mostly tree pollen now and it's off the charts. dust is everywhere. will check back in later.

Deb, here is a link to the Dr Axe bars https://draxe.com/recipe/bone-broth-protein-blueberry-macadamia-bar/ You could change the dried fruit from blueberries to something else depending on the flavor of your protein powder. I mix extra dark chocolate chips or dried fruit and sometimes a bit of honey into the almond butter with the bone broth protein and eat it with a spoon. I sometimes melt chocolate chips and warm the almond butter in the microwave so it blends a bit better with the protein powder. You can make this into balls and refrigerate if you want it firmer. I just eat it.

Judy, your weekend sounds relaxing. We are having a bit cooler weather. Windy today.

I've had an island in the last few kitchens. I want countertop space for a few appliances like food processor, cutting board, knife block mainly. I have a second island sink in my current house that is very nice. this house was built when people were putting grill top ranges on the island. I didn't want that. ugly. why do I want a cooktop and all the spatter to be center stage? take up space and be obvious? and so had them put a sink instead and put a regular cooktop on the counter on the wall. worked out much better for me. I put an island in our vacation house too but skipped the extra sink.

my morning at the dentist was not great. I have had no trouble with the tooth, no discomfort or temp sensitivity but xrays showed something not right. there was decay under the old filling. getting a root canal, my first. will be finishing the process thursday but a temp in place and was not painful other than it is a awkward spot to get to. they weren't expecting this either so there was no time to do it all today. bummer. no ride or workout today.

Diane Sue, thanks for the link to the recipe. What is coconut butter? I have everything on hand but that.

Debbie, coconut butter is sometimes called coconut manna. Nutiva sells it as coconut manna. Maranatha sells it as coconut butter. It is unsweetened coconut ground like a nut butter. I have not tried making my own, but have seen places telling how to do it.

Sorry, I ran off. I was responding when my grandson came in and he asked to use itunes to set up his iphone he just purchased from a friend. We were going to lunch and he had to have it ready before he went to work since he is delivering pizza.

Valerie, I am sorry about the tooth. I have had the same thing happen since I have had some very old fillings. Most have been replaced now. I keep having issues with grinding teeth. They made me a mouth guard and I just have such a hard time sleeping with it in. When my husband first retired and we bought what we thought was going to be our retirement home, I had a huge kitchen with loads of counter space, a breakfast bar with cabinets underneath and a built in buffet with southwestern tile with lots of cabinets. On top of that we had a kitchen island we added with the hanging pot rack. I really did miss all of that space. We even had a room off the kitchen where the laundry cabinet and guest bath was located that had a sink and more counter space and we kept a second microwave in there. I just got rid of lots of stuff.
My youngest daughter has a huge kitchen island which is nice for working on and has electrical outlets.

I made coconut butter once but I decided that it was too much trouble to do it again. It took much too long to get the desired consistency. Now I just buy it. I use a teaspoonful in my oatmeal occasionally. Diane Sue, I’m going to look at the link that you just posted. It might be a better method than mine.

Carolyn, one of the yummiest snacks I have made was to put a little coconut butter inside a dried date. Simple, but takes care of the sweet snack craving. I love the taste of coconut butter. It is much like trying to grind your own nut butter. Start with a smaller amount at first and add as you go. Blenders are easier to remove it from and to push down and get mixed in. I wore out many blenders trying to make my own nut butters :) I love my Cuisinart food processor and don't mind if there is a bit less smoothness in the nut butters etc..
