Good morning,

A beautiful day yesterday, it got into the 70's, sunny and clear skies after the early morning fog. John did some yard clean up, while I kept up with the regular HouseMax chores.

Will try to get a weight workout in this morning, along with finishing the stuff on my list.

Take care,

woke up to a snowstorm this morning, though the bare ground& roads are too warm now for it to stick. sticking on the grass & bushes. sort of "dampened enthusiasm" for yard work, to say the least. we're getting ready to leave next Sat and at this point may be heading as far as Utah. we have 10 days but it's a lot of driving. the weather pattern we're in is continuing and I'm tired of snow and rain and want some sun, somewhere.

DH is in the gym right now doing the spin bike. I'll do something else.

Deb, what resources do you use for finding and making reservations on airlines these days? the only places we've flown in years has only one carrier, so I use their website. I may need to go east sometime soon and will do the same ( delta) unless a better method or site comes along.

Good morning,

Just finished CC#2-R. Yesterday I did a K-C-M total body workout. 2 down, 3 to go. If I can get 5 in a week, I will be happy. I have given up on Tuesday mornings since class gets us home around 10:00 on Monday night.

Valerie, a snow storm? wow, this weather is nuts. it was in the 70's again here, it felt like mid-May. What's in Utah? When I fly, I just go right to the airline site and book on line. Mostly use Southwest, US Air for east coast stuff, although Southwest does go to California. Do you have Southwest there? Where are you headed to? They are the most reasonable, and you don't get charged for bags.

Hi to Garance, Josie, Joan & Cathy,

Take care,

Yes, it snowed again and stuck. 2 inches or so blanketing everything. kind of pretty in an evil way. actually will be sunny for a while today so we're going to a park and do a walk/ hike.

I did S&G yesterday. I do reg pushups not the walking ones. don't care for those. the walking business seems to detract from the push up motion for me, so I do a lot more of reg knee pushups.

Deb, 5 workouts a week is reasonable...a good goal to set.

Not too much with SW airlines here, at least not going east from here. I prefer to go thru MSP for the obligatory plane change rather than chicago, KC, or Detroit. I used to fly Northwest all the time but since they folded I haven't flown the route. I've tried looking at some of the discounters or whatever you call them, like expedia, travelocity but have never found anything worth the hassle. I'll need to go to Milwaukee. there's one airline with a nonstop but they don't have a lot of flights so if there's ever a problem I think I'd be stuck.

we will go to either eastern Or or utah depending on weather. we'll be taking the camper and driving. we hike and mt bike mostly, in places not "big" on the map. n some birdwatching. that's really good in spring in eastern oregon. utah we'd be around capitol reef & canyonlands. there are lots of wilderness areas outside of the parks themselves. if it's a national park it tends to be too busy, while a wilderness area 10 miles away with the same features will be totally empty.

Watched 2 movies this weekend. "Drive".. not so great. would not recommend. and one called "the kingdom" that was excellent. I never heard anything about it, and stuck it on the queue because the cast sounded good. Wow. will watch it again before sending it back. very intense and realistic.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did After Burn (54 min.).

We had a great time in Boston. The restaurant was really, really good, the weather was decent (actually not as warm as back here in western Mass. because of an offshore breeze), and the science museum was fun. The live butterfly room was crazy fascinating, and I was mesmerized by geckos (who knew there were so many different kinds?). Another great pizza in the North End, and a really fun time with sil, bil, and their two kids. When we returned yesterday afternoon, it was up to almost 80 here, and it's in the 70s today as well. I plan to grade a few papers, go home, and start cleaning up my gardens.

Deb, I received my Face Lift.....stuff today from Amazon. I will try it out tomorrow and see if it is as magical as the reviews proclaim. Good for you on your 5-workouts-per-week resolution.

We did the walk hike/ about 90 minutes of uphill and downhill. Very nice but not killer exertion. I'm still coughing and the cold air gets it going. came home and cleaned up some things and packed. camping for us requires a lot of planning. still not sure which destination. we both have a lot of other things to deal with this week. lunches, hair appts, night time call, groceries, and bad weather tomorrow which might be a power out. we'll see.

80's and 70's!! well, if you look at a USA weather map you know we're in the 30's. snow from this morning melted but mountains have gotten huge amounts. still winter here. la nina kicks butt again this year. the park we walked at today is near the water, so plants are about a month ahead of around our house. all kinds of flowers there.

Good morning,

Class last night, we did not get home unitl around 10, then it took me about an hour to unwind. Kylee can handle about 45 minutes, then she gets a little crazy. A puppy's attention span is not that long. She fell in love with a 10 year old male Gordon Setter. She would not stop trying to go over to him. When I let her near him, she tucked her tail between her legs and cringed. For about a minute. He was thrilled that she wanted to be near him. Ahh.. puppy love.

Valerie, what is MSP? This whole country is upside down when it comes to weather. I have never experienced this weather in mid March. It's like May right now.

Garance, Boston sounds great. I have never been there. Can't wait to try that Face lift stuff. I also got that tool for hair removal. It came yesterday, and believe it or not, it really works! The Open forum has been expensive to view lately! LOL.

Hi to Joan, Josie, & Cathy,

take care,

MSP is Minneapolis-St Paul.... I HATE to type that one out. airport abbreviations often don't sound at all like the destination, like ORD for chicago. MSP is the best one to connect thru if going to Milwaukee ( MKE). occasionally a nonstop exists but not very often. ORD is always a huge PITA. I used to fly a lot. so glad to give that up.

I want to hear about the face lift stuff too. Off to yoga.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning was Slide and Glide (52 min.). Those burpees kill me every time.

Deb, I guess Kaylee is impressed by big dogs. How funny--she would probably love Max, because he loves and tries to play with every dog, and even a goat. The goat tries to butt him, and Max gets down really low and threatens to dive at her. Hilarious! I didn't see the hair thing, but hair is not much of an issue for me. Tried the Face-lift stuff this morning. It does seem to work on the crow's feet.

Another halcyon day here in the high 70s, maybe 80. Grade some papers and then go home early to clean up more gardens. I can only do this for about an hour before my back starts hurting from all the stooping.

Hi to Valerie and Josie!

Good morning,

Just finished my protein shake, did the express Slide & Glide with abs and stretch. That core work is killer.
sit-up-1.gif
can I say this very loud? I HATE BURPEES! there I yelled it.

Valerie, is there a flight into Midway? I flew into there once instead of Chicago and it was a really small and nice airport. I think Southwest files into there. I think I was coming back from Tucson at the time. When are you planning on flying east?

Garance, I agree, Kylee would love Max, she loves all and any other dogs. She is too sociable. In class she wants to play with all the dogs.. My face lift stuff is supposed to be delivered tomorrow to John's office, of course he is off on thursday so they will probably have to bring it back on Friday.

It was 78 here yesterday, lovely, lovely day. I still can't believe it's March. Our daffodils are all out and blooming, and my day lillies are starting to come up.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did High Reps (65 min.).

I hate burpees, too, Deb. I substitute for some of them--like the skating move or more jacks. I do like S & G, though, because I know the cardio is over after 25 min. and I rather like all the conditioning stuff and love the stretch with the disks. I think this Face lift youth serum stuff may be very good. We will see if there are lasting improvements. I think there is an instant improvement on the crow's feet. Are you watching DWTS?

Yet another gorgeous day, and I cannot believe it's March, either. I've heard the peepers now two nights in a row, so I am fairly certain that spring has sprung and no more winter. Hope I'm not jinxing things by a bold claim.

More paper grading. Agh!

Hi Ladies,

I took a couple of days off to spend them with my grandkids and their mom. We went to Disneyland on Monday and to Venice Beach on Tuesday. We had a great time!

My co-worker and old supervisor passed away last Sunday. I got to see her last Friday and said my goodbye’s and thanked her for all of her support and friendship. Michelle and I knew each other for 30 years. She was only 54, but had a lot of health issues due to her weight. I will miss my friend!

The mood at work is very sad, she had just retired in August and was planning on doing a lot of traveling. She devoted so much time to this office and did not get to enjoy her retirement.

I will be back later.

Josie

Josie, that's so sad. and such a fast process and so young. I have several friends I've had for that long. even if you don't get together that often, it's such an important connection to have. family is different, you don't choose them. friends you choose.

Deb, I am checking into midway as a possibility too. It looks a lot more expensive at first glance. one of my old friends lives in MSP so that was always a good reason to connect thru there.

I've been working on cyclemax. did most of it two days ago and the whole thing yesterday. I switch the pedals to reg pedals with baskets... it's much more solid secure feeling for me. I've gotten to really dislike bike shoes while DH loves them. It gets my heart rate up quickly and easy to keep it in the zone by adjusting speed and resistance. the bike has software that shows cadence, mph, heart rate. other stuff too but that's what I use. I don't bother with padded shorts, a lot of the workout is standing so no way I'd get sore.

we actually had a surprise nice day yesterday but still cold. deck was covered in ice in the morning from hail the night before. melted off by noon. sunny at least! the wet weather moved further south.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did Cardio Supersets (41 min.).

Renee, the product Deb and I bought from Amazon is "Face Lift Youth Serum Syn-ake."

Josie, that's very sad about your friend. It's just very hard when someone finally gets to retirement age and then is too ill to enjoy herself.

Went to see A Dangerous Method yesterday. I thought it was a bit ponderous, but I guess the subject matter--psychoanalysis, the Freud and Jung friendship and then split, and Jung's crazy masochistic patient, later mistress (played by Keira Knightly with a ghastly Russian accent) isn't exactly jolly material. Viggo Mortenson as Freud was excellent, though, and Jung came off as such a self-deluded hypocrite--which he probably was.

Leaving early today to do some more garden cleanup. It's still in the high 70s here.

Hi to Deb and Valerie!

had a GREAT yoga class this morning. just myself and one other regular person. that means our instructor can get a little more aggressive, as both of us will try things and are pretty strong compared to some. she had us do a shoulder stand against a wall. you clasp hands together and lean on forearms, walk your feet up, and kick up to the wall. your head is NOT on the ground. she is spotting and giving hints while we did it, one at a time. I had no idea I could do that! She is such a good instructor and can tell ahead what each person will need. she strapped my upper arms together for better support. It felt weird when she did it but once I got "up" I contracted shoulder muscles and raised up even further. I absolutely trust her judgement and will try things with her I would never ever do on my own.

Need to do some other exercise this afternoon, maybe cardio supersets or AT.
Keep reporting back on the Face Lift serum. Does it say anything about increased skin cell turnover? I need to be careful with that.

That movie sounds tedious. Freud always sounds like so much hog wash to me. I have it on my queue but not in a big tearing hurry. Netflix is so inexpensive I'll try movies I'd never take a chance on in a theater. For $16 a month it is so worth it.

I will have to go look for it. I wonder if it will help my lines around my mouth... im 42 not alot of wrinkles except my mouth.. it gives my age away bad. I used to smike.

Good morning,

I didn't realize that I did not even come here yesterday, until I was reading the posts last night. I had to go to our main office for an all day training on Diversity. The best part was we watched the movie "Radio", which I had seen before, but like it again anyway. Has everyone seen that movie?

Garance, I didn't tape DWTS because my VCR remote would not work. Then I thought about it, and figured I probably didn't want to take the time to watch it anyway, I didn't really know a lot of the stars. I was on the computer Wednesday am and went over to ABC TV.com where you can watch full episodes. I watched the first 4 dances. They were all pretty good for the first night. My manicurist said that there is only one bad one, (the tennis player). May try to get the remote to work, or switch the VCR with the one in the basement. We'll see.

Valerie, good job on cycleMax. I bet you burn a lof of calories with that one. Standing on your head in yoga! wow. :)

Josie, so sorry about your co-worker. Isn't it just the way, right after retirement when she would be able to enjoy time off.

Got the face serum the day before yesterday, used it yesterday and today, we'll see how it goes and will report back. In the same package, we got PH test kit for Keegan. Very easy to do, it was 5.75 first thing this morning. At least it was better than the last vet visit ( 5.0). Our goal is 6.5-7. I will test again at lunch time to see if it is different.

Anyone have exciting plans for the weekend?
It looks like it will be cooling down a bit, and they actually said, **gasps** a possible freeze Monday night.

good morning Deb...

Radio? I don't remember the name. I'm awful with movie titles. I remember who was in it, what it was about, and can't remember the title. I keep thinking cuba Gooding jr? I know he was in a movie with radio in the title.

Did AT yesterday afternoon. no question, the cardio section is tough. I had to pause a few times but I did it all.

The cool thing about the yoga pose was you are NOT on your head. you hold yourself up with your shoulders/ forearms. I had NO idea I could do that! No one was more surprised than I was. I don't have great balance but the wall is assurance you won't go over. I touched the wall with one foot but stayed in position without leaning against it.

I had lunch with some friends from DH's old office. no one does anything "physical". they are a little older than I am.... not much. the difference between our physical appearance and capabilities is striking... really striking. I do NOT want to sound like I'm tooting my own horn here. we ( here) all know here it takes some time, commitment and work. none of them can even ride a bicycle! not great distances or up hills but ride one at all.

off to get DH's breakfast & lunch.
