Good morning,

No class yesterday, I had not looked at the schedule but glad I did before driving there! We got a small amount of snow, not bad, but it is 13 degrees....way too cold.

Judy, glad your power was back on. I bet the kitties missed you! Yes, the "whole house" generator that kicks on automatically when the power goes out is the best one to get, but probably pricey. Still, you maybe can justify it with losing all the food, and hotel and pet care expenses.

Valerie, with the outage you have had in the past, one of the auto generators would be the one to look at. No set up, is connected to your furnace etc, and just goes on as soon as the power goes off. I only have the Cathe barre workouts, which do not have any real good shorter premixes. I also have the ones that came with the new Fit Tower ( thanks Lori!) which are beginner and probably the best to start with, if you can get your hands on them. There are probably ones on YouTube you could try. I wonder if Jessica Smith has one.

Carolyn, that meeting sounds so good....do you have a broker you all use to sell/buy your the stocks you vote on?

Diane Sue, Wow...81 minutes of Boot Camp is pretty tough! I agree on the P90X and the yoga workout,....I gave it away. It was waaaayyy too long.

Lori, I wish I could get to a point where I like barre....it has so much dread factor for me, and when I am really doing regular workouts, I hate taking away one of the "regular" ones and replacing with barre. I should just DO IT....use it as a lower body workout. It's great that the Lunch Ladies are doing something on their own....do they do a couple of 10 minute workouts strung together? Getting undressed etc for only 10 minutes would almost be an excuse to cancel. :).

Caitlin, walking those hills is a great workout....but at 18 degrees, not so much! :)

A workout, ..not sure what else today...not a day to be shopping or driving around...we'll see....always stuff do to around here in the house....

Take care,

Good Morning Everyone,

Last night I did a KCM workout, Body Design-Upper Body Strength & Stronger Lower Body. I woke up with a slight cough this morning. I hope I didn't pick something up at the hotel. There were several families with babies and young children staying there and some of them seemed to be sick. Chris was hoarse and coughing yesterday too, but he seems ok this morning. We have our annual physicals this week, on Thursday, so at least we'll be seeing our doctor soon if we did get something. We always schedule our physicals on the same day because of an insurance requirement to get certain tests done by March 31. Our doctor's office has to submit a form and we have to do an online health assessment as soon as we get our results, usually the next day. They require blood sugar, cholesterol, height, weight, and a blood test to see if we smoke. I guess there is a surcharge for smokers. Since we both have to do this it's just easier to get it done at the same time.

There are still 100,000 customers without power in SE Michigan this morning. We were lucky to get our power back as soon as we did. We were out for a little over 60 hours.

Deb-We are going to pick up the kitties this morning. We can't wait to get them home. I don't know if we can go with the whole house generator since we would have to put the unit outside and that means we would need to get approval from the condominium association. I doubt they would let us. There are a few people here that have portable generators, gasoline powered, that they keep in their garage and only bring outside when the power is out. That's probably what we will need to do.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Judy

We never seriously looked into a generator. they are noisy & expensive. I remember my neighbor getting hers set up and having to decide on what she wanted connected to it and what she didn't care about. it doesn't get that cold here so it's more convenience. since the casino was built near here ( not a good thing at all) it seems we get powered up a lot faster than we used to. we have our camper outside which runs on propane so we have gone out there to cook dinner. it would mainly be for the frig and freezer since usually when the power goes out the cable does too, so no TV or internet even with power. since it never gets that cold here, heat is nice but not essential. we use the wood stove. so somehow I never was driven to get a generator set up.

I did TBM again last night. I was tired from Ramped up 2 days before though, so it felt tougher than I expected. remind me again .... who is SB? I will take a look. seems the consensus is turbo barre is not popular. I will do a leg one today, maybe LBB. I did the floor work from that one a lot. for me, easing into floor workouts may work. I had minor sore spots but nothing miserable. I need to avoid giving these a dread factor, cause that doesn't go away easily.
diane sue that is quite a workout. you do some amazingly long sessions. I can go much longer outside, but inside an hour is about it for me.
Judy, you were doing those long rides indoors too. hope you dodged the bullet on catching a virus.

Good afternoon all!

We have a blizzard coming Tuesday. Ugh. Not looking forward to this.

This morning I did Cathe Live Love Those Legs. It was from a couple of weeks ago. I was easily able to increase weights to more than what was called for and my legs felt great. I wondered if I would lose strength from mostly barre and bouncing. My legs felt as strong as ever which made me really happy! I followed up with a power jump mix I made up. Total time was 72 minutes and 588 calories.

Judy...good your power has held and great you were able to get some decent workouts. Fingers crossed the cold never turns into anything! We have a Health form that needs to be completed every year too. Without it I would not get the discount that goes with it. We would pay over $200 more a month without it. We always make sure we get it in!

Deb...I really struggled when I first started doing barre. It did not come easy. However, things changed when I started with SB. I just clicked with her and looked forward to her workouts. So perhaps you just need someone you click with? The ladies do not change. They just kick their shoes off and jump in. 10 minutes goes by to quick to work up a crazy sweat so they just go with it. :)

Valerie...LBB has a great bonus barre section. I think it is called leg conditioning. It is about 15 mins and I have added this on to other workouts many times. Even alone it is great for a quick leg workout.

Caitlin...so cold here too. My husband has been taking the dog for a walk so I do not habe too. He is a good man!

Have a great afternoon all!

Deb...I do not think it was part of a series. Thinking it came out around the same time as the Intensity DVD (but not from the intensity series). Pretty sure it is around when we first started seeing Amanda. I could be completely wrong though!

Hello Everyone,
I'm taking it easy and trying to adjust to daylight savings time today. Winter decided to visit us so it has been a rainy and cold day. I won't complain however since it's nothing like other areas.

Lower Body Blast came out in 2010 with Intensity and High Reps. I did it a lot but avoided the floor work. I'm beginning to realize that I often avoided floor, barre, and chair leg work because it was so hard for me. I have gotten much better with them. Lori, I agree that SB takes away the dread factor for barre.

I hope everyone is having a good day and keeping warm.

Rest day today. It turned off cold. In the 30's. It is so weird going from summer clothes to winter and back. I went to Sprouts and got some new Vibrant health greens since it was 25% off. I ordered their joint formula from Amazon because it was 4 dollars less. I needed lemons, and unfiltered vinegar, and a few things anyway. I wish someone would have another deal on Dr Axe Ancient Nutrition Bone broth protein. I really liked it and it didn't bother my digestion like some of the whey powders do. I have tried vegan protein powders and have not found one I like. They had a good price on Vibrant Health Protein Fit formula but it is pea protein and if it tastes anything like the Maximum vibrance that is all of the greens, probiotics and protein in one, I would not like it. I wish they sold individual packets like they do for Maximum Vibrance.

Deb, that was a pretty long 81 minutes of Bootcamp. I was ready to quit half way through the second time through, but kept pushing through. It was a nice calorie burn but I felt it this morning. My backside is sore.

Judy, I do hope that you are not getting sick. My throat is a bit scratchy this morning. I am hoping it is a bit allergy related or something. I did handle my 2 year old grandson that was running a fever Friday and is still sick today. Our home owner association is very picky and you have to go get approval for every little thing. Nothing can be above the fence line. The guidelines say no dish type television or antenna but I see one on a neighbor across the street. We have a small shed but the top is below the fence height. We are getting pricing on fencing and if it is taller maybe we can get a new storage. I have not had to fill out a health form in years. Maybe Medicare will be different though I need to spend some time looking at that so I can get the details around May. I have looked over some options. My aunt who is 78 has been giving me her thoughts.

Valerie, SB (Suzanne Bowen) . I used my generator for the refrigerator when I used it. The one time it was heat index of 110 outside. Very hot.

Carolyn, I woke up at the right time this morning for church and did not set an alarm or anything. Felt pretty good. Hopefully it lasts because it generally confuses Gertie on when I am supposed to be feeding her.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did a time saver premix from S&S Boot Camp. Not sure why the S&S rotation has Boot Camp on day 1 and Ramped Up Upper Body on day 2. There is a lot of upper body weight work in Boot Camp. I think it is too much to do a full upper body workout the next day. I think I will switch to cardio today, then upper tomorrow.

Judy, I hope you didn't pick up some kind of bug at the hotel. Good that you are seeing your DR this week. I didn't realize a whole house generator was outside. For some reason I thought it was attached to your furnace, or the gas source. How were the kitties when they got home?

Valerie, I guess if there is little danger of pipes freezing, a generator in your climate would not be that critical. Only thing that would be bad is losing the food in the freezer/refrigerator.

Lori, great job on that leg workout. I have not viewed that one yet. I hope you "dodge" the blizzard.

Carolyn, thanks for the info on LBB. I did not purchase for some reason. I remember getting High Reps, way after it had already come out. I always avoided floor, mat, and any barre or chair work Cathe does.

Diane Sue, good you got the greens you like. I really wish we had a Sprouts here. We are lucky to have Trader Joes. and a Whole Foods is just being built. I got some grass fed beef bones at the Coop yesterday. Am going to start making/drinking bone broth. Did you take the free webinar (Leaky Gut) from Dr Axe? I did it, and it was pretty good.

A workout, then a manicure. John is off this week...not sure what we will be doing. We wanted to go away with the dogs to a cabin, but fishing is out of the question...the weather is not cooperating. I guess we will do stuff around here.

Take care,

I think generators run on gas or propane. They generate fumes so can't be inside. loud ...... not saying I have not considered one! Several neighbors have them. our power outs are frequent but most are less than a day. Our freezer is in the garage and stays cold for days if I dont open the door. I should defrost it today ...... a fun indoor project. Twice a year.

Deb that is what just happened to me. Did Ramped up and upped weight. The second day after was too soon to doTBM and also push the weight. Yesterday I did a short spin. 35 minutes. Didn't feel like doing anything.
Will get out LBB and review it. was doing part of it regularly for PT but maybe just floor work. Lori I wil look for the leg conditioning drills. Will also check out Susan Bowen. I don't remember looking at her before.
wow those homeowner restrictions are tough. we need to get approval for outside structures but most of the guidelines are common sense &reasonable. the trouble with HOA is when someone goes outside the rules, even flagrant violation, it is hard to enforce. we have the power to turn off water but not used very often. our garage is 3 car so most of the year the vehicles are inside... yes, we are people who park cars in their garage! our camper doesn't fit so it's outside. when it's on the back of the truck it is also outside. I get angry about junk cars and trash piles. compared to that a satellite dish seems pretty benign. same way with a generator. kind of like a propane tank. you can fence it to camouflage it but burying it is expensive.

Today I did ICE Bootcamp Circuit followed by JS 15 Minute Calorie Blaster from the 30 Day Plan.

Deb I had the same concern when I did the Strong and Sweaty rotation. I switched the cardio and upper body days. As to your question about our club, yes we use an online broker for transactions.

Valerie, I looked at SB after Lori and Lynda recommended her here on the forum. Before that I had very negative feelings about barre workouts.

Hello to everyone.

Today's workout was Kelly Coffey Strength and Stamina, both workouts premix, 64 minutes, 367 calories. I felt I worked hard enough the calories should have been higher. My max heart rate was 161 but average was only 114. I have not done this one very many times. I like the format of lower, upper 3 times and then a kettle bell swing segment. I followed this with 21 Day Fix Extreme abs (note to self, I do not like this one because there is two much balancing on one arm in a plank position for 1 minute of work) 12 minutes, 40 calories. That one really ends up making my wrists and shoulders ache. I finished off with Suzanne Bowen Barre Amped Strength and Stretch advanced active stretch, 38 minutes, 62 calories. Total calories burned 469, 1 hour 44 minutes. I went back out today to pick up some more of the Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth protein powder in vanilla again. I wish it was not so costly. It has 21 servings in a container though. There is a bone broth protein burst powder that looks like it would be good. Not as much protein in it at 8 grams but it is a pre or post workout formula. Not as expensive, but I am not sure about servings. They don't carry it at Sprouts though.
Workout went like this 12 reps each done one set upper then lower 3 times before the kettelbell

Deb, I did not watch that webinar. I bet it was good and informative. I get out my note book and write down things when watching those. The woman that checked me out with the Bone Broth Protein powder today said she was really into bone broth. I really do need to do that again. The prepackaged stuff is not at all as tasty as doing it yourself. I also wonder at some of the extra ingredients and the fact that it is really liquid and looks and tastes just like all of the other bone broth. Even the refrigerated ones re thin. When I did it and chilled it, it was like gelatin till I heated it. It tasted so good I didn't bother using it for soups, I just drank it. I did cook it with celery and onion and pepper. I strained the veggie bits out of it. I would not want to do Bootcamp and Ramped up Upper on consecutive days. I am surprised the rotation didn't just say no upper body mix or something for Bootcamp.

Valerie, our generator was loud and ran on gas. We put it on our covered patio at the time and plugged it in just outside the door. You would not want it inside the house. I think some of the outside ones are in covers or they have something to cover them with. You also have to worry about thieves when you have them outside. Our home owners association made the man that lived here before us and his next door neighbor repaint their condos. They didn't get the color approved when they had them painted and someone did not like the rust brown color they had painted them. I told my husband he had better notify them that he is going to put up a new fence. Ours is starting to fall apart. Wood fence. He wants to do cedar. They require permission to do it. They require permission if you want to remove a tree or plant a tree in your front yard. We park in our garage too. Many do here, but a few seem to park outside the garage and use their garage as a porch or something.

Carolyn, after I have checked out Suzanne Bowen, I would like to have more. They do make a nice addition and I do not dread the ones that I have done when I got the free trial. I have some of hers and Kelly's in my wish list. I also still think that I would like to get To the Mat to have my whole Ice collection. I am sure that I would use it. Of course, now there are the Fit Tower workouts.

My freezer is still not defrosted. ugh. almost though. I have a garage refrigerator I can store things in so it's just slow process.
I know some HOAs are rigid about not parking vehicles outside. . we wouldn't have moved to a place where everything is too controlling. generators are expensive and yes, thieves will take everything that isn't nailed down... and sometimes that too. everyone here is landscaped differently. I would draw the line at a lot of lawn. we have a little, where we can't grow anything else. if I lived in a dry climate, I'd do xeriscaping and kill the lawn. I sure would not water it. grass pollen is my main allergy. DH has to mow the little there is. it dies in summer when it dries out... helps my allergies.
think I will skip most of the workout today. might do a little floor stuff and let it go at that. tired and achy.

Good evening all!

This morning it was so hard to get up with the time change. My usual time is 4:30am so my body is still feeling 3:30am. I kept it brief and did a Body By Simone workout I made up from Youtube. I repeat the cardio and took out the legs but kept upper body. Was 31 mins. / 201 cal. I actually decided to do the cardio portion on my trampoline and it was great. I really enjoyed. That was all I did. Need to get used to this time change. I am in week 9 of SB's challenge but as of this morning she still had not published the workouts for the week so just did my own thing. This is the only thing that drives me nuts with her challenges. Sometimes she is really late getting the week of workouts.

Deb...we will be getting about 15 inches with high winds. At one point they said up to 2 feet so we are ok with 15. Not happy but better than 2 feet! When we came home we did the usual storm prep...batteries, candles, generator. We have sveral power banks for our phones so we made sure they are charged. My office as of right now is still open. We will make the call in the morning. Crazy if we do not close. Those two workouts are a lot of arm work back to back. I think I remember noticing this when I first looked at the rotation.

Valerie...I think you will like the leg conditioning drills on LBB. Under 15 minutes and you are done. Yes generator needs to be outside. Ours runs on gasoline. You hear so many stories of people not taking the proper precautions with ventilation and are overcome with co2.

Diane Sue...yes SB's workouts make great add ons or strung together for a longer workout. We have a screened in patio and that is where the generator is kept. A few years back ours was stolen from the patio. It was mid summer and we had a storm coming so we had it all set up. I moved it off to the side incase we needed it again and then one day I noticed it wasn't there. We were so agravated that someone would do this. At the time we had a landscaper and we believe he or one of his workers took it. I would have hated that ab work. Great workpits though as usual!

Carolyn..you also had a nice workout. I love how that fat blaster makes a nice little add on.

Judy...hope you are feeling good!

Hi Everyone,

I felt better today. This morning I did Body Beast Legs and a premix from Rapid Fire-Kick, Box & Core. We got about 4 inches of snow today.

Deb-The kitties were very happy to be home! It's nice to get back to normal. We hated to leave them at the vet and they didn't like it much either.

Diane Sue-Great workouts! We will be storing our generator in the garage and pulling it out into the driveway if we need to use it.

Lori-That's terrible that someone stole your generator :( It's good that you are prepared for the snow storm tomorrow. Stay safe!

Valerie- I'm with you on the grass-I would be happy to live without a yard, with my allergies. Unfortunately, there is so much of it around here that I can't get away from it in the summer. I think I would do better in a dry climate.

Hope everyone has a good night!

Judy

Good morning,

Yesterday I did R/Hiit Low Impact Hiit #2. This is a great little cardio workout, no dread factor, and no need to modify.

Valerie, our freezer in the basement had to be manually defrosted too....not a fun job. I would think with the size of your lot, no one could see much anyway....why do they have to regulate what people do on their own land?

Carolyn, I think the next time I do the rotation, I will do the Boot Camp premix without upper body...or like you said, its just as simple to switch the workout order.

Diane Sue, I forgot about KCM Strength & Stamina....a great little workout.. I have never done the premix with both though. Hard work. It is a great webinar....I have the link with the replay if you would like it....I can send the email to you. I signed up, missed it because I had to follow John to his car appointment...then got an email with a recorded link to it. I took notes on it too. It has some great info on digestive issues. Susan Bowen has only a 2 day free trial right?

Lori, I hope your weather is not as bad as they predicted for NY and Boston areas. I guess they have made the decision to close or not by now. That is awful that someone stole your generator!

Judy, glad you are feeling better...nice that the kitties are home and things are finally back to normal. I hope you are able to get a generator...usually after an outage like you had, there are none available.

A workout, then have to get my car inspected today....

Take care,

Stole your generator!! terrible. We have a lot of that kind of theft ....crimes of opportunity. We are putting a gate right now on our whole community to try to diminish property crimes. At least thieves will have trouble getting in with vehicles. One neighbor had his entire house emptied out, someone drove a big truck in and stole his entire house contents including furniture. He was our previous real estate agent.
Hope you only got 15 inches of snow. Definitely better than two feet. My sister in the Midwest. Was complaining about 10 inches and it was still coming down last night
Judy my allergy is to "golf course " type grass. It might be a particular breed. I am ok if I limit exposure but I do NOT golf.

Deb HOA has rules to protect most from the few people who don't maintain their property. Our HOA is not bossy about little stuff like house color, but if someone parks a dozen junk cars or trash piles up, we can do something about it. People can't run "storefront" businesses out of their home either so it protects our property values. If someone is doing an online business, no one would bother them. Some HOAs are more strict and get carried away with details.

ETA we have our own water system and maintain our own roads so we have a vested interest in the community doing well and everyone cooperating and doing their share.

Hoping you don't get too inconvenienced by your weather.

Good Morning,
I hope everyone is doing okay with this blast of winter weather that we are having everywhere. Today I did X Train Cardio Leg Blast. It was 1 hour for me with 372 calories burned.

Diane Sue and Deb, I agree that homemade bone broth is better than store bought. It's great for soups, but also on its own. I have a powder that was suggested by the NGs, but I don't use it often.

We have a HOA, but I don't mind. The rules are not overly restrictive, but they do help to keep the neighborhood in good condition. One year we had a guy who was obsessed with mailbox posts. He was always driving around looking for homes that needed to paint or replace the posts. That was annoying but it didn't last long.

Lori, I hope that you didn't have to go out for work today.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Good afternoon all,

This morning I did SB Cardio Barre that was scheduled for yesterday. I then followed up with a power jump workout. Total time was 69 mins and 554 cal. I still love seeing over 500 calories when I add in the power jumps.

My husband estimates about 16 inches of snow we've received so far. It is still coming down hard with no sign of letting up any time soon. My office has been closed and I have been working most of the day. Bob has been dealing with the snow. He is so good to me. :)

The generator was fairly new too and we paid over $500 for it. We were not happy. Had to be the landscapers. We are in a very quaint neighborhood and everyone watches out for eachother. The landscaper with all the equipment moving in and out of the truck could have easily taken it undetected. We have since bought another and keep it locked up. It is a pain where we have to keep it but can't let it get stolen again. We also do our own yardwork. No more landscapers either.

Judy...glad you are feeling well. I think I mentioned I have Body Beast and the set with Autumn. I have never done any of the workouts. They are in my some day pile.

Valerie...isn't it sad that you have to put a fence up around your community to prevent theft. I hate people that come in and steal from hard working people. Can't imagine coming home and finding my entire house emptied. That is horrible.

Carolyn...it has been ages since I have done cardio leg blast. I really like that workout. Xtrain was a favorite rotation of mine. I saw better results from it than STS. I should look into a shorter rotation and do a few weeks of it here and there. I think I would enjoy it.

Deb...did you get snow? I know some of NY did. Agree that is a great workout with no dread! The decision to close office is made usually around 5:30am. Once the decision is made I send out the message to all. They all love getting my text when there is a snow day!
