Cathlete
Yesterday before he released me the PT guy showed me a few more harder exercises and stretches. I should be able to do most things now as long as I don't slip back into old habits and let my left leg take over. I think it started mainly with hiking and for whatever reason(??) letting my right leg not work as hard, letting the left be my lead leg and then not doing a complete ROM on the downhill. the brace I got should be a good reminder. it's a custom made one since none of the OTC ones fit. still, only $66 and I got 2 due to mistake. I have obnoxiously large calves and if I can get one on over my calf, then the knee/thigh is too large and I don't get any support. ( funny because 55 years ago I started exercising to reduce my calf size but it never made any difference) the exercises have made me more aware of glute involvement. yes, I will continue to do them on days I don't something else like riding or running.most cathe leg work is fine.
Actually REI started back before then with a couple ( the Andersons) selling equipment for climbers out of their house in West Seattle 1940-ish.. one of them died maybe 10-15 years ago. the Whittaker brothers got involved later on .. the one who summited Everest. the original store was the one I used to shop at. it was a rickety frame building with almost no parking. Lots of wool and leather, way before synthetics. I kept some "wooly" things from the old days for fun. REI has most stores near lots of outdoor activity. some stores are huge, others tiny. they branched out from strictly mountaineering gear into all non motorized outdoor activity. they have stuck to their focus...just so many more products these days.
Diane sue I hardly ever watch what passes for comedy these days. bathroom/sex jokes, crude and language to match. I don't think that's funny!
I think we all need to work out a diet that works for each of us over the long term. I'm someone who needs grains and beans with lower amounts of protein and fat. Low fat diets work well for me. I get plenty of carbs but not "junk" carbs.
