Good morning,

No workout yesterday, but I did go to agility class.

Diane Sue, I am sure you will have that DVD and it's technology all worked out soon. :) Where do you get those bars that you use? I never heard of any of them. I hope you are able to get the leak stopped. Nothing worse than water issues. They can be so difficult to figure out, and then fix.

Carolyn, I will keep your nephew in my thoughts and prayers for a quick and recovery. Once I do the second workout of Strength & Stamina, I will do what Diane Sue did and try the combined workout. :).

Hi to Judy, Valerie & Lori.....

Take care,

Deb, I get those bars at Sprouts. You can get the RX bars on Amazon. I have started giving my 3 and 9 year old grandchildren them for snacks. Bollet Proof .com is running a sale on theirs. At least I saw it in my email. Amazon has those Them in the Brownie and I think lemon cookie , but not the short bread. I have not looked at Amazon for the primal kitchen collagen bars. Theybare okay and I like the one with coconut , but to me they sometimes taste like stale nuts when I get them from Sprouts. Sprouts has only recently started carrying the Primal kichen products. I have bought the avocado oil dressings and mayonnaise. They have no sweetener or other oils. I still prefer my homemade , but it is nice when I am out. Plus it came in handy when I made the buffalo chicken dip from Whole 30 Fast and Easy. I used some of it with my homemade.

I made the Whole 30 Fast and Easy Aisian Pork and carrot noodle bowl yesterday and it was delicious. I used Tyson reduced fat ground pork. I have made the Italian beef soup twice now. Today is my rest day.

This morning I did the Ultimate Yogi Gentle Yoga. That was 56 minutes and 78 calories. My nephew is doing well after the surgery. He has been incredibly blessed to have this happen.

Diane Sue I found some extra lean ground pork at Sprouts a couple of weeks ago. I made some breakfast sausage patties with apple and fennel which was delicious.

Deb, I also want to do Strength and Stamina workout 2 on it’s own before I try them combined.

Waving hello to Lori, Valerie, and Judy.

We had a shopping and lunch out yesterday and didn't get in a workout.
the weather forecast was not great ... possibly an inch of snow. they backed off the forecast but they were totally wrong. we got more than a foot of snow last night. DH and I have been shoveling for hours It is heavy wet stuff that sticks to the shovel. every shovel full needs to be knocked off besides picked up. Ugh!!. have not had to deal with this in several years. we have a plow service clean our roads but we need to shovel our parking pad, our driveway, and our decks, plus a route to the wood shed. It is a major big deal. If this happened several times a year, or even annually, we'd get some way to move the snow because there is so much to clear.
if the temps were going to climb it would melt but it's getting very cold so we need to get it cleared or we can't get up our driveway, even with AWD. or we get up once, packing the snow so dangerous to come back down. melting snow sends water down our driveway toward the garage. we put in French drains to carry the water, but those get buried and need to be dug out. the decks...we don't know how much weight they will hold but a foot of heavy wet snow is not a good thing to have sitting for days. and of course, the power went out for a few hours right away this morning. Luckily it came back on about 9. so shoveling was our workout. it is still snowing but is supposed to clear and get very cold. all my talk about spring and flowers and plants is still true and with a layer of snow they will probably all be fine. the hummingbirds are hitting the feeders big time.

Carolyn that is wonderful he got a match and successful surgery. I think the treatment protocol for transplants is pretty well organized these days. still not a simple process Hope he follows directions and things work to give him a much longer life.
I'm making a big pot of Italian grain and bean soup for lunch. it uses barley or farro as the grain and pinto beans. a lot more WW friendly since the newer program started. Uses simple ingredients so it's easy to whip together. there's a lot of snow in the trees. we can expect more power outs.

We are watching the Olympics both recorded and off the regular TV channel we get off an antenna. I think the cable companies are working on where streaming things like the Olympics and academy awards will be impossible unless you have a cable package of some sort. we can't figure out a way to do it at all. so if you can't get it on antenna, there is no way other than a cable package. We think we will end up going back to cable with a limited package of just local channels. this was not an option when we cut the cable. the basic package was the crap load of dozens of garbage channels no one watches, just to get the few local news channels, and pay a LOT for the privilege. too many trees here to get dish so not an option.
some of it tedious, but some is incredibly fun to watch.

Good afternoon ladies,

Yesterday before I left for CT I did FS Low Impact Cardio and Xtrain Bonus Barre. This morning while everyone was sleeping I did 58 mins of SB’s Lower body barre. I strung several workouts together and my legs were fried. Happy to get this in because I was not expecting to workout at all. I did not bring anything with me but since I am up so early what is a girl to do but workout in her PJ’s. :)

The baby is adorable. Omg she is so tiny and cute. Hardly fussed at all the entire time we were there. Was really nice to enjoy this time with my friends. Hated to come home.

Valerie...shoveling is a tough workout!!! We had a storm come in last night. I had alread arrived in CT (2 Hour drive for me) so was there long before the storm started. It was done and overwith early morning so had no issues driving home today. I would not have gone if it was going to be a snowy drive home.

Carolyn...so glad to hear all went well with your nephew. Sending prayers all goes well and he continues to heal with his new heart.

Deb...I will be glad to share my rotation. I am looking forward to putting it together. I have never put my own rotation together but always wanted to. Going to starting building it this week.

Hi to all and enjoy your evening!

Carolyn, I love apple and maple sausage :) I went to sprouts and picked up some more things. I picked up some free range organic chicken for when I make an orange chicken recipe that is in the Whole 30 Fast and Easy Cookbook. For some reason, Sprouts regular chicken breasts sometimes have chewy part in them and it makes it not very appetizing. I prefer those for shredding and soups and stew type dishes. I am glad that your nephew is doing so well. That is great.

Valerie, all of that shoveling is definitely a workout by itself. I have been there myself. It is a must to consider what happens when it starts melting and refreezing. Particularly when you are on a hill. My daughter has a steep hill that their house is built on and water streams down from the hill behind their house, so they have to watch it. Fortunately it seems to flow between the detached garage and the house.
I didn't know hummingbirds would hang around in freezing temperatures. It seems everyone is starting to prepare with for spring around here. We keep going from springlike weather to cold. Today would have been nice if it had not been so windy. Your soup sounds really good. I have been feeling some aversion to meats lately. I was surprised that I really enjoyed the pork dish yesterday. I had chicken thawed and just was not feeling eating it or beef. I need to pick up some more protein powder for those times when I am not feeling eating much other than salads and veggies.

Lori, I have worked out in hotel rooms in my PJs before :) There is no rule that we have to wear workout attire. Newborns are so tiny and precious :) Full of innocence. I am sure you enjoyed the visit so much.

I need to come up with a plan for next week. It will be another busy week. I have cakes and a meal to plan for next Sunday. It is a dual birthday and I picked up some decorations for my granddaughter who is turning 10. I am making a mexican beef zucchini skillet for Wednesday dinner,

No more power outs, windy north of here but we are OK. it warmed up enough for a lot of snow to slide out of the trees. getting cold tonight. colder than all year so far. mid 20's or maybe even upper teens. this is really COLD for here. some years we escape this but even though it's kind of late in the season, we are stuck with it.
the hummers have expanded their range in the last few years. we didn't have them over-winter at our house here until 2011. I used to keep track of when the last ones left and used to be late September. suddenly, in 2011 some didn't leave and they stayed all year. we have two regular kinds of hummers here, rufous and anna's. rufous leave in sept but now the Anna's stay all year. they have expanded their range bit by bit. we heard reports of them staying in areas lower in elevation and closer to salt water before 2011, but 2011 was the year they hung around. some has to do with global warming. also many people keep bird feeders stocked all year. when the juice will freeze, I bring the feeders in at night and hang them back out first thing in the am. I've had birds fly up to me and land before I could get the feeder hung in the morning, not 5 inches away from me, to get juice in the morning. they sit on the feeder while I am still holding it! if you get a chance to hold a bird , they feel like air, like nothing in your hand. so tough and yet so delicate. we've had a few hit windows, and picked them up while they recovered. such a lovely experience.

Lori too funny working out in PJ's. I gave up PJ's and wear some stretchy capri pants instead, so working out would be fine. except for a bra. no workout without some support. I can’t imagine bouncing braless.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, my friend went back to the hospital, ended up that she has the flu. Not good news about her son in law, his cancer is back and he is going to Boston this week for a second opinion.

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the bars. I will go over to Amazon and look them up. I need to find something to snack on besides cookies. :(. I wish we had a Sprouts here.

Carolyn, that is great news about your nephew.

Valerie, wow! I can't believe the amount of snow you got...

Lori, great that you got that workout in. Are your friends into exercise like you are?

Hi to Judy...

Puppy class this morning....it's graduation day! :)

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

I ended up doing a 1 hour spin on Saturday and 30 minutes of yoga yesterday. I'm planning on taking an active rest week this week. No workout planned for today. I wasn't feeling great last night, I had a little bout of vertigo and went to bed early. I'm going to try to get into the ENT this week.

Deb-I'm so sorry about your friend and her son in law. That is very sad :( I will keep them in my prayers.

Carolyn- That is very good news about your nephew! I'll pray that he continues to improve and does well with his new heart.

Diane Sue-The Bullet Proof bars look interesting. I'll have to look for them. Plum Market carries the RX Bars and some other primal-paleo type bars that I haven't tried yet.

Lori-that's awesome that you got a workout in this weekend! I'd be interested in seeing your new rotation too. I bet it will be a good one.

Valerie-A foot of snow! Wow! I'm so glad you got your power back. Shoveling is quite a workout. It doesn't look like we are getting any snow this week.

Judy

Deb, maybe you could do a search to find somewhere local to purchase the Bullet Proof bars. Amazon seemed pretty expensive. I have a problem with cookies when I make them for family on Wednesdays. This ladt time I baked half of the dough, which was sugar cookie hearts, and froze half. It is just too easy to grab one instead of find something decent when I am hungry. I forget to eat or just get busy and then there are cookies sitting here. I boughtbdh some other things so maybe we can do without the cookies. Last night I ate a Bullet Proof Bar when I was wanting a snack.

Judy, I have tried several of the Paleo type bars at Sprouts. RX and Bullet Proof are my favorite. There are some I have picked up called caveman bars. I tend to question those a bit because they remind me more of a candy bar. I took some with me when I had that jury duty to do. I hope you are not coming down with something. We keep fighting off things pretty well. There was a few days where I was getting a scratchy throat and dh said he yhought he was coming down with something.

Diane Sue-Thanks, I hope not too. I don't have a fever and I don't feel sick. There is so much going around though and Chris still has some upper respiratory symptoms. The flu has been very bad here this year. I've had vertigo a few times before and it usually takes a few days to settle down. I feel better today, but still taking it easy and not doing much. I called the ENT office and he is out of town this week. I made an appointment for next Tuesday.

Judy you should be checked to see what's going on.
there's a pretty common problem caused by little granules in the inner ear in the 3 semicircular canals getting "out of place" causing a vertigo sensation. A doc will put you thru a series of posture changes to adjust the granules by having you sit, then lean and rotate your head in a certain way. it's called the epley maneuver. You can find it online. you can try it at home to see if it helps if the vertigo returns, especially since you won't see anyone for a week. just a thought.

Deb, sorry your friend is not catching a break this year. the flu on top of her other issue. same for her son in law. hope he gets some useful thoughts on what to do next.

I never eat bars unless we are doing long outdoor activity. Kind bars are my favorite, I love nuts. I can eat too often if "too easy" and try to go for more "real" food that needas a little prerparation rather than pre packaged stuff. we bought pistachios recently, the ones in the shell. they are so good, and the shells make it pretty easy to control quantity. Not good to have a bag of these next to you while watching TV.
some other WW ideas for snacks.... an apple or banana has been a good snack for me, with peanut butter on the apple if I'm really hungry. also plain popcorn. sometimes I use the low fat bagged microwave corn when we are going somewhere, since it's in it's own bag. yesterday I made some regular plain popcorn in the micro and enjoyed it. I don't put butter on it.... IMO that ruins it. I hate greasy food.
Tostidos makes baked tortilla chips ( scoops) that with salsa makes a good snack. around here.... they are in the snack aisle with all the other fried chips but are worth seeking out. WW says 16 chips and some salsa, which is quite generous.
string cheese? I personally don't like hard boiled eggs, but they are a good snack if you like them. yogurt for me is not useful. I like it, but it doesn't help much when I'm hungry. I make a fruit salad of chopped fresh fruit and half a container of light lime yogurt with a few toasted almonds on top that I like a lot but usually as part of a meal.
If we have cookies around, they are frozen. makes me think about whether I really am actually hungry or if it is just appetite calling me.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Total Body Kickbox #2 sculpt kickbox using 5# dumbbells, 30 minutes, heart rate 125 average, max 158, met 5.8, 1,745 steps. I then did Kelly's Athletic Conditioning volume 2, workout #1,36 minutes, 197 calories, heart rate average 128, max 145, 1,283 steps. even though this is weights it kept my calories the same for fit bit and map my fitness. I wanted to do some abs and a bit more stretch so I went to the 1 round +abs and stretch(omits the core and some stretches from workout 2) At 12 minutes in I started the abs and went through the stretch. This was 12 minutes, 42 calories, heart rate average 100, max 126. Total time was 78 minutes, 431 calories.
weights 3 rounds of all exercises no rest 10 reps
squat and curl 15# dbs all 3 rounds
standing pec dec 12# dbs, 10,10#
pommel horse 10 reps each round
shoulder press with reverse lunge 15# db all rounds 5 reps right 5 left

Judy, it is good to have an appointment ahead of time just in case since it is so hard to get in last minute. I try to avoid the doctors offices and pharmacies this time of year just because I know there are sick people walking around there waiting for meds and buying over the counter.

Valerie, if I snack on boiled eggs I dip them in spicy brown mustard. I do not like them plain. I like them on salads.

Valerie-Thanks for the info on the epley maneuver. I was reading about that and thinking it might be a good thing to do. I do feel better today.

Diane Sue- I know what you mean, I've been trying hard to avoid doctor's offices and pharmacies too. I was hoping to get through this flu season without needing to visit a doctor.

Today I did RWH Lift It HiiT It Legs for 43 minutes and 242 calories burned. My average heart rate was 121 and maximum heart rate was 147. After that I did Core Max segment one for 21 minutes. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my nephew. He is still doing well today.

Deb, I’m sorry that your friend has more to deal with. She has been through so much.

Lori, good for you in getting a workout done while you were away. I’m glad that you weren’t caught in snow and bad weather. Daughter number two was supposed to return from Rhode Island on Saturday but was rescheduled due to weather. Fortunately this happened before she went to the airport.

Diane Sue, those bars look interesting. I rarely eat them because most are so high in points. I have been really hungry the past few days and not satisfied by my food. I realized that I was eating less healthy fat and more carbohydrates which doesn’t work well for me. I am trying to change that this week.

Valerie, that soup that you mentioned sounds good. I always put the cookies in the freezer to avoid temptation for me. My husband likes to have them around.

Judy, I’m sorry that you are not feeling well. Taking it easy is a good idea.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Carolyn, I need to contact Cathe's customer service still on my RWH legs. I took pictures. It is more like a chip out of the hole. I bet it would still play, but putting it back on a spindle in the case would not be good. I like the cases where the little spindle pushes down easily and the disc pops out. Those in that case are stiff.
Maybe some of those bars would be helpful and lower your carbs some. RX bars might not so much as they do have fruit and a couple of dates in them along with the egg whites. I had a maple sea salt one today after my workout.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was FS Boxing Boot Camp. I was also supposed to to Legs but was really feeling my legs from yesterday’s impromptu workout so figured I could skip legs today. This was my only workout. Tomorrow is Ride or cardio of choice. I may do some bouncing since it has been a few days.

Deb...so sorry to hear the cancer is back. He will get the best doctors in Boston. Hoping your friend is able to fight the flu off quickly. It is a bad strain this year. So many are sick. Puppy graduation sounds so cute!!!!

Valerie...that must be amazing to have the birds land on your hands. So nice for you to care that much for them and I think they sense it! Hahha never would I bounce braless!!!

Diane Sue...I love boiled eggs and have been known to bring them with me when I travel to have if I need something to eat. They are low in calories and will hold me until I can have a meal. I eat them plain. I love spicy mustard and going to try some with them. Hope CS will help you with your dvd. Maple sea salt sounds delicious! Your workout was great today!

Carolyn...yes good thing she was not at the airport. The snow did not impact me at all. Very happy about this. Funny you should mention being hungry. I have been the same way the past couple of days. Nothing is satisfying me. Nice workout today.

Judy...hope you are feeling better. So many at the office are sick. I am doing my best to stay away from everyone.

Have a great night all!

Deb, I am so sorry that your friend had to go back to the hospital. This flu virus is terrible.

Valerie, that is great that you keep the feeders ready for the hummingbirds that stay. I have always found them fascinating.

Lori, I have had pretty sore legs and abs lately. Normally I do not notice anything. I wonder what it is with appetites lately. Nothing really sounds good to me lately. I look and then eat because I need to.

Ha ha ....read Cathe's newsletter today. the leptin/ grehlin business. sometimes I can't get satisfied feeling, but that means I need carbs. fat and protein are a complete waste of calories for me unless there is a big carb component. whole wheat toast and PB is helpful and not too caloric.
