Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 2/14

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the comments on the valentine card with Chino & Shadow.

This morning I did Core Max, Medicine Ball Abs, & the lower body weights premix from 4 Day Split. I decided not to add TTM this week.

Deb-I hope you start feeling better soon. It was in the high 20's here today too.

Lori-thanks so much for the updated Live spreadsheet! That is so helpful!

Valerie-I don't know what it is with stores and loud music. It seems like so many places are doing that now. I noticed that with Home Depot this past Christmas too.

Lynda-Thanks, he seems to feel better today. I think we'll go out tomorrow or Thursday.
I do have Cathe Live. I like the Live spin workouts but I don't do them very often. I should put one on my workout schedule. I usually end up doing a Spinerval or other cycle workout and I forget that Cathe has them too.

Diane Sue-How did you like the KCM step workout? I've been meaning to try that one out. I hope your neck and shoulder feel better tomorrow.

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Good evening ladies...yesterday was a rest day and today I ran 2 miles on TM this morning plus we did a SB arm workout at lunch. Amazing that I worked out this morning considering the amount of food and wine at dinner!

Oh the choices with Dishwashers. That was one of the reasons I was not up to the task at looking at them. We have no idea what we want. It is only the two of us and we really do not have many dishes. I do not want to go cheap so thinking middle of the road or slightly less. I was looking on line at some that were over $1,200. Way more than I care to spend right now!!

Lynda...are you loving Cathe Live or what???? I absolutely knew you would. The workouts are tough but so inspirational watching everyday women working out. I agree she is so much more relaxed and personable than her DVD's. Pretty soon you will be like me and doing more Live workouts than her DVDs. And yes the extra water breaks are nice too!! :). I have done the spinning workouts and do like them. Don't know why I do not do them regularly. Did you sign up for On Demand also or just Live? I set up our Apple TV yesterday. So far we like it. Love that I can listen to anything I have on Itunes...music or a movie. Yesterday I left for work and it was -4. This morning it was 45. Only in New England!

Judy..I think you will really like the new SB DVD. As I mentioned the first section is good but I like it better with ankle weights. The rest wipes me!

Josie...wow seeing the day to day rides are amazing! I just read them to my DH and he was blown away. Do you have a specific link to donate? I am bad about things like this and want to make sure I donate to your fund raising.

Valerie...I love new carpeting. Funny all the pink. I remember those days all to well! Perhaps an Iphone 6 is in your future? We are loving ours and very happy we each upgraded when we did. But of course I love everything Apple so you would expect that from me.

Diane Sue...the Live workouts are all new workouts. It is like going to a class at a gym. Yes she wears her glasses most of the time. I am used to them and hardly notice. So sorry about your neck. Plyo pushups would certainly exhaust me. Do you like Tony Horton? A few years back I did P90x and loved it. It started my love of weights. Before that I was a cardio only girl. I found the yoga workout was the hardest of the program!

Deb...hope you are feeling better! I love that you make your doggies their food every week.

Oh...I completely forgot to mention that our CEO left our company last week. It was very short notice. He told everyone Wednesday and that was his last day. As you know I reported directly to him and was doing a happy dance Thursday morning!! See ya!

Good morning,

No workout, still feeling rocky, I hope to get to class tonight.

Valerie, glad all is going well with the install and that you like the color. :). LOL on not being able to answer the phone.....that may be the final "push" for your DH to get a new one.

Lynda, I am not really watching the Westminster, but actually heard that a guy from Buffalo was entered with a Viszla, and watched him show his dog on the Live streaming that they have from their website yesterday morning. That was kind of fun. Did you get just LIVE, or both LIVE and On Demand? I get so overwhelmed with all the DVD's/choices, and I keep thinking adding all those other workouts will make it worse. I know one day I will probably try it. Have to get the set up to stream though first.

Diane Sue, maybe good for you to take a day off so you can make sure you are ok. Neck and back are nothing to play around with. That restaurant sound horrible....how can they stay in business? I guess people don't care about being able to talk to whomever you are dining with? We had a really nice middle eastern restaurant in the neighborhood, nice people, great food, but they had a large flat screen TV playing, with Al Jezeera TV going on all the time. I am all for free speech and that, but it makes for an unpleasant experience for me and makes me not want to go there. Funny that they closed and re-opened under a new name. I wonder if they still have the TV going. We haven't tried it again. I use the food and vitamin/mineral recipes from the book Real Food for Healthy Dogs & Cats. It is by a holistic vet. What is the name of your wild diet book?

Judy, meant to say how cute that card was. I downloaded that program...hope I can find it the next time I want to do a card. LOL. So many choices.

Lori, thanks for the spreadsheet! Yay for the CEO leaving! Now the big question is, Who will replace him? I bet everyone is all talking about that now :).

Hi Josie!

Plan for today is to finish making the dog's food, class tonight (hopefully)....

Take care,

Carpet finished today. we like it. it's hard to be "overjoyed" with new neutral light brown carpeting.... but it will work for us. the existing curtains will be OK. the vertical blinds will need replacing but they are 25 yrs old. got the value from them. they go over a large slider that is often open so vertical blinds are the only choice for us. anything horizontal will rattle and be in the way. off white/ tan will be better.
Diane sue, we are Verizon but I think it's the phone itself. I've wanted to dump it for a long time. sometimes it works fine, but more and more it just gets stuck somewhere and won't do anything we want. answering it while it's ringing seems a pretty low bar to meet. where in Wa do they live? I left WI long ago because I could not live with the tornado threat every year. don't like earthquakes, but for me tornados were worse.

we've been to several restaurants that were so loud I just couldn't believe it.... I don't want it so quiet I can hear every word at the next table, but when it's so loud no one can hear each other at all, something is definitely wrong. we don't go back to those places.

Did a short mt bike after the carpet people left. 70 minutes. used to take us closer to 90 minutes for the same route. we've both gotten stronger. very wet, muddy both of us totally splattered! fairly warm and partly sunny.
---------------------------------------------
ETA somehow I'd written the above post last night but didn't hit send. we're in a very wet weather pattern so might be indoor workouts for a few days. not raining yet today, but it will be. we are both tired. need to move a lot of furniture back into place etc. also got a new breaker box for the non working hot tub and we may put that in this morning if it stays dry long enough.

I think DH being unable to get the phone to answer was the last straw.... he always makes fun of me when I can't get it to answer a call and he finally enjoyed the same experience. we seldom use the phone for calls because it's so unpredictable. fine one day, and belligerent the next. an I phone 6 is sounding great to me.
I missed Westminster, always fun to watch.

Lori, I have the CR 2016 buying guide in front of me. they list full list price. usually things cost less. they recommend not paying for "drawer" models, special grime cycles, hidden controls, or interactive digital displays, or SS tubs.
CR likes Kitchen Aid. rated as #1, 4, 5, 6. these all have a 'self cleaning filter". a Kenmore is in 2nd place, no self cleaning filter. price range from $1080 to $1350. the Bosch ascenta is #3 at $700 , also no self cleaning filter.
I didn't look at Kenmore because I don't deal with Sears. no good past experiences. I wanted a SS tub, and a manual clean filter, and quiet. they should give db ratings on the machines if quiet operation is important to you. mine is 44 db.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cathe Live Total Body Tone up (55:00). Another great workout.

Deb, I recorded Westminster and haven't watched it yet. I'm still hooked on Netflix Making a Murderer--one more episode to go and then I will have to check and see if there is any news on appeals or mistrials, because this was a total mess and the documentary did lead to a lot of public outcry. I figure if I do 10 Cathe Live workouts per month, that will be only 1 dollar per workout, which is what I always tried to do with my dvd workouts--use them enough times to make them 1 dollar per workout. No, I don't want Demand as well because I really feel like I have moved beyond a lot of the earlier workouts. The last thing I would want to see while dining out is Al Jazeera on a TV nonstop.

Lori, thanks so much for the spread sheet. It is so helpful on equipment needed. So, is it every Thursday she does a live workout?? Hmm--wonder what happened to your old CEO. Hope who ever replaces him is less annoying for your sake.

Diane Sue, these are all workouts in Cathe's gym, but I guess she has been doing them long enough that they date back to 2014. Lots to choose from. Definitely take some time off if your neck and back are inflamed. If the acoustics in a restaurant are already bad, I don't know why they add even more noise with music. I have a friend who is very hard of hearing, and when we have lunch out, we choose the place very carefully for noise, because background noise makes it impossible for her to hear anything.

Valerie, I hope you enjoy your new carpet color. I am really tempted to go with a deep crimson the next time around. I like to live more dangerously than a light brown neutral I guess. I have these drapes in the living room for a big bay window, and we have a terrific view. The sheer curtain is deep crimson with a leaf pattern, and the drape itself is in autumnal colors with leaves as well. When I just have the sheer curtain closed, I love the way light comes in and bathes everything in the glow.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Today I did a 15 minute warm up using fitnessblender.com , Pedal Power 59 minutes 14.34 miles , finishing with Les Mills Flow 20 minutes. 94 minutes, 544 calories. I also did YouTube Sarah Beth Yoga deep stretch neck and shoulders. I did not use that one with my calorie burn as it is a slow relaxed stretch. I have used it a lot.
I will be back in awhile to read posts. I have to head out for errands.

Lori, Strength and Stamina bonus step is similar to her other step workouts with some boxing moves put in. I like it because it makes a good add on. She has a pretty active warm up and suggests you may need to do a warm up first. For me adding it on to something else makes it fine. NIce choices for abs and lower body.

Lori, I don't think price is a true indicator of the best appliance. My daughter bought a top of the line very expensive refrigerator and they had someone out within a couple of months working on it. They had stuff go wrong repeatedly. We bought a top of the line washer and dryer from Sears when my husband retired and they had to do work on the washer so much I purchased the extra warranty. With all of the repairs we would have paid more than double for that washer. I still have the dryer though and have only had to replace a door screw and the lint screen. It is 15 years old now. It was interesting reading the booklet on this dishwasher for maintenance cleaning. It suggests those afresh tablets but they use several. One in the dispenser cup, one in the prewash tray, one in the bottom and run on aggressive cycle. It also says to put one in the garbage disposer and run the disposer with a slow water flow for 15 seconds and turn it all off and leave it without flushing. The dishwasher will run water through it. I have never seen instructions like that. Also says to uses a paste of dishwasher soap clean hard water spots inside. It says not to use vinegar too much as it can damage the dishwasher. I thought that was all interesting.
I have all of the P90X workouts and several one on one workouts. I made a rotation once and since have updated it with newer workouts that incorporates P90X but eliminates a lot of the push ups. Last time I blended body parts from P90X with Gym Style workouts. I think I used some Tracey Staehle in it. Tony is okay. I have done P90X2 a couple of times. I have parts of P90X+ I like. It is kind of upper body heavy. I like the abs from that one. Honestly, I have not done all of P90X3. I never did a complete rotation with it.

Deb, wouldn't care for that restaurant. I am not sure why they think we need to be entertained when we go out to eat anyway. Why tv screens all over the place. That is a good time for my husband and I to just chat without distractions. I don't mind a little quiet background music but not stuff that makes me want to hurry up and eat. The book I am referring to is The Wild Diet by Abel James. You can see some of his stuff on thefatburningman.com . It is a whole food as close to nature as possible style of eating. He has some recipes for dogs in there. He also is a proponent of intermittent fasting. They fast their dog as well.

Valerie, the family lives in different areas of Washington. His sister is in Basin City. Neutral carpet is always best. You can change up colors in décor. We had blue installed in a house once and it really limited changing up the décor colors. My son bought that home and he installed wood flooring through most of it. His wife hates pink and we had pale blue wallpaper with pink flowers. That went too and the dining room was painted red. I think earthquakes are unsettling but not as scary. I haven't seen near as much damage in the US from earthquakes as I have tornadoes. I wish we had a shelter. We put one in in our last two homes. The first one was when my husband was out of country and we had a terrible tornado that hit close to our home. I had went to the neighbors and got in their shelter. Several people were killed and they had to drag the small lake to find a little girl. I am always a little anxious when it is that season but not as fearful as I was at the start. Now I just feel if it were my time to go I am ready so really I guess I could lose my life in much worse ways. We need out cell phones to work. We got rid of our land phone line.

Lynda, thanks for the information on Cathe Live. I have a friend who is in her 80s. We usually pick somewhere for lunch that is quiet so we can visit. I am interested in Cathe live but on demand would be useless for me as I have all of Cathe's workouts except Ice and the Ab compilation dvd which I really don't need as I have all of the workouts.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I did Ice Low Impact Sweat 1 followed up with the BB. I used 2lb weights during all cardio moves and used Fire Walker loops during Sweat once the mat was down. Love the intensity this adds. At lunch we did a workout I made up called Barre and Bands. 30 minutes of intense lower body. The ladies were yelling at me towards the end but all loved it. :)

Lynda...yes every Thursday she does a Live class starting at 9:15ish. Funny you should ask about Spin as that is tomorrow's class. She usually posts the day before what the class is and equipment needed. I started with that spread sheet to help me decide what workout to do. Once they started building up I needed a quick reference. In May it will be 2 years since she started. Went by quickly.

Judy...with all the core work you do you must have rock solid abs! Are you not doing TTM because of soreness or just to not over do it? Its funny becuase I really like the spin workouts but same here just never get to them. I'll make a point to do this most recent one over the weekend.

Deb...good you are taking some rest days. You need that every now and then. It makes no difference who replaces him. No body could possibly be like this guy. Not to many were sorry to see him leave.

Valerie...thanks for the DW information. This is very helpful. We do like Sears and have not had any issues with them at all. We most likely will buy from them. They come, remove and dispose of the old and install the new. This works for us. The one we had was very noisy so yes...quite is something we are interested in. Great job cutting time off that route!!!! Very nice!

Diane Sue...great workouts. I have a few of his One on Ones. There are so many. Tony does not bother me at all. My son and I on a whim started doing P90x in 2009 and we loved it. Funny thing is I finished and he quit! Of course I told everyone! :). I also have 2 and 3. Never clicked with either and never completed a full rotation. Something about the 1st I really liked and have done the workouts here and there. I agree about better is not always more expensive. How is your neck and shoulder? Hoping better.

Have a great night all! Hi to Josie!!!

I did "dangerous" with the "dusty rose" before. I was pretty energetic with colors and it worked for a while but suddenly you can't find anything that will blend. I don't like decorating enough to re-do every few years to match the current palette. didn't realize pinkish tones would be a trendy color that would come... and go. we are thinking "future" here and probably won't stay here terribly long. few years for sure but we are thinking about re-sale. it's easier to match/blend things if the colors are more subtle. It's called Ranchwood and is pleasant. I'm happy.

I know Sears is strong some places, but here, they are almost not a player at all. at least in the geography where I live. one store left about 35 miles away, several others are closed and gone. we have a local appliance store that is strong and does most service for everyone else, like Lowes and HD. I tend to buy directly from them. gotta know what works locally! Hope you find a DW that makes you happy you bought it.

we did 2 rides today, the 90 min mt bike, came home for lunch and did another 90 min on the road bikes. That was enough. Pooped.

Good morning.

Wow, it's Thursday already, this week is flying by. I did not go to class yesterday. I think I have a sinus infection. The headache is horrible, all centered on my eyes and face. Even OTC sinus/cold medicine didn't touch it.

Valerie, nice that the carpet is done. It must make the house feel so "new" . I bet you are out shopping for a new phone by the weekend. :). I guess no matter what appliance you buy, you are taking a chance, but research is good to do for the things that are important, like the noise level. When we replaced our old DW with this KA we have now, I had to practically bend down and put my ear up against it to see if it was running. That is how much more quiet it was from the old one we had.

Lynda, I feel the same way about doing the LIVE workouts. If I didn't do at least 10 a month, I would feel I was not getting my money's worth. What kind of schedule do you have in mind with the workouts? A certain rotation mix of cardio and weights? I guess Making a Murderer is not on Prime? With John's hearing problem, we also have left places where the background noise is so bad, he can't hear me or anyone talk.

Diane Sue, thanks for the book name. I looked up his site and some of the recipes look good. Are you following his eating plan? I didn't see any mention of dog food recipes which I would be interested in seeing.

Lori, The Ladies are doing great! You are their inspiration. There has to be speculation on the CEO replacement, always is. You just hope whoever it is doesn't make too many changes. That is usually what happens.

Hi to Josie & Judy,

Take care,

Today we have a plumber coming so I got up early and did a quick workout. I did Intensity Step Only premix, plus a bit extra warm up, 41 minutes, 307 calories.

Lori, funny that your son quit and you finished P90X. It was my first Beach Body workout. It just seemed really enticing having a gym in the box :) I hadn't done a whole program like that before. I started with Firm then Cathe and started finding other workouts. My neck and shoulder is better but still hurts some.

Valerie, Sears here is off by itself and sells some products in the store but most of the time you look, order, and pick up or they deliver. They do have some stock though. We plan on staying in this home so we can experiment with colors if we like. We purchased new kitchen lighting and my husband is going to tear out the old fluorescent recessed lighting and update it.

Deb, I don't think that they have any pet stuff on his website. Yes, I pretty much follow his plan. There are cheat days. Even then I don't go all out. As far as the pet food. He has a recipe for a dog food mixture that he says you can freeze portions and keep a couple of days worth in the refrigerator. He uses grassfed meats. He does not cook the meets. I think I would still be prone to cooking them Also, suggested foods to feed. A list of don't feed foods. He even gives suggestions for additions if you use dry food healthier by adding eggs, pumpkin, sweet potato, butter, cream, fish oil, or squash. My dog being 70 # would have to have at least 3 cups of food a day. He uses grass fed liver for treats. He does cuts it up, bakes it and you either freeze the pieces or refrigerate them He says not to overfeed the dog liver though as it can cause an overdose of vitamin A. The main dog food recipe is a mixture of ground beef, yogurt, pumpkin puree, broccoli steamed, with 2 Tablespoons of ground kelp, eggs, fish oil, and he adds 1 tsp eggshell calcium supplement which he has a recipe for. All of this with 2# ground beef. I think the recipe would probably get my dog through 3 days.

Deb, hope you recover soon... have you tried steam? hot bath or shower to loosen things up? especially in winter, homes can get awfully dry and many sinus meds dry things out even more.
DH is very hard to drag to the phone store. I was buying a phone via Costco but we still had to go to the Verizon store for part of the contract set up. last time it was a difficult experience. my birthday is end of march so I doubt it will happen before that. our 2 yr contract is completed a long time ago.

we bought a Sears Vacuum a few months ago and are very happy. I had a Miele before and didn't want to spend that much again. it never worked well. the sears was simple mail order. less than half the price and works much better. with appliances where service might be needed, I've kept away from Sears because they aren't a presence here anymore.

Hot tub still not working and now is getting beyond our abilities. need to decide how much we'll spend to get it working again.
Our DW has a light on the top panel.... the only way to tell it's running.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cathe Live Crush It: Low Impact (35) with Icy Core 1 --another 10 min. I guess.

Deb, I really don't have any ironclad plans, but I usually alternate cardio with weights. A lot of Cathe's Live workouts, and the Bootcamp and Metabolic in the dvds combine both. Making a Murderer is Netflix streaming. Finished watching it last night, but I have read that Steven Avery has a new lawyer and something might happen. I will have to keep googling for more news. That does sound like a sinus infection, so maybe you should see your doctor. After your last episode with antibiotics, I can understand why you might be reluctant to do so, but if it's an infection.......?

Lori, any idea why your CEO is leaving? Barre and bands sounds like a great workout.

Judy, did you ever get your Valentine's Day dinner out?

Valerie, I currently have a cream color carpeting in my living room, and Orientals in our addition and the master suite on hardwood flooring. If I replace the cream color, that's when I would try crimson. It does seem a bit risky, but I would probably bring home samples and test how I feel about them for a couple weeks before going ahead. We have had good luck too with our Kenmore vacs. DH can usually repair my canister vac or go to Searsparts online and order a new part--last time, a new HEPA filter.

Diane Sue, I think you must be very advanced if you did P90X. I go all the way back to the early Firms too, but also to Cathe's step workouts from the 1980s. She has really changed over time, hasn't she?

Hi to Josie!

Good evening Ladies!

This morning I did Chalean Extreme Burn Sets 3. A friend of mine had this set and shared with me. Didn't think I would like it but I actually did. At lunch we did a SB arms routine that was only 20 minutes but the ladies were spent. So we did not continue on with another target.

Valerie..Sears is still strong in my neck of the woods. Glad you love the carpets. That stinks with your hot tub. I think I memtioned my Inlaws were so sick of repairing theirs they decided to get rid of it. Amazing you actually went out again and did another 90 minute ride! I just love you two!!

Deb...so sorry you still are not feeling better. We at work are all thrilled that the old is gone and actually are looking forward to a new CEO. Don't think there is anything else the new guy could change or cut. The past CEO hit it all.

Diane Sue...p90x was the first rotation I ever did too and I loved it. My son liked it but just did not stick with it. I really enjoyed working out with him too it was fun. I am not letting my doggies read this post. They would be very disappointed that you and Deb go all out with food for your pets and they just get boring Purina.

Lynda...I love Live Crush It! Great little workout. Yes agree she does a ton of metabolic workouts and also ones were you can easily split. Lately, I have been doing more metabolic workouts because of this so that is why todays Burn Circut felt great. Our CEO came on board 3 years ago and that originaly was his plan. He had an opportuntiy that he could not refuse so he went for it. We are not sorry he is leaving. The workout we did was a combination of SB thigh and seat targets followed up with Cathe band work from LLA and Great Glutes. It's about 32 minutes of pure bliss! I have bought a few firewalker bands from cathe through out the years since I like to keep them fresh. I feel after a while they stretch and get a little relaxed. I never use the pink ones so I brought some in plus some older greens. We had plenty to go around. They were all amazed that I had those. Not sure if they were impressed or thought it was odd! Lol!

Hi to Judy and Josie!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a one hour Spinerval and this morning I did Cathe Live "Soaker Cycle", then I continued with aerobic base riding for a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Tomorrow I will be back to core and strength training. I just felt like getting a little more riding in this week.

Deb-I'm sorry :( I know how miserable sinus infections are. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe you should go to the doctor.

Lori- I received the new SB dvd and it looks like one I will like. I think I will put it in my rotation next week. I wish my abs were rock solid. I feel like my core has gotten stronger, and maybe a hint of definition but I'm never going to have 6 pack abs. My legs were sore this week so I skipped TTM. I'll probably add it back in next week. Cathe's Live cycle workout was a tough one. I think you will like it.

Lynda-we went out to dinner tonight. We went to Brann's Steak House. I ordered grilled salmon with vegetables and DH had steak & shrimp.
I talked to DH and I think we are going to get Apple TV this weekend.

Valerie-You are doing so great with the biking! Doing 2 long rides in one day is really good. I would have been exhausted too after that.
Glad you like your new carpeting. We really need to get new carpeting too. Probably something we will look at next year.

Hi to Josie & Diane Sue!

Judy

Valerie, when we had a hot tub I was able to repair it once by getting a part to replace when it was leaking but another time I had to call someone out. Luckily it was not that expensive of a repair which was a relief. Hopefully it won't be much if you have to call someone out.

Lynda, I remember when I was checking in with Cathe on a small forum and she was the moderator with 200 members :) Yes, Cathe has changed significantly over the years. I think she just gets better. I have been working out for many years and done lots of programs. The first time I did P90X I followed the nutrition plan but stuck only with the lean phase of the program and eliminated the protein bars and protein powder. I just ate the meals. I had remarkable results. Sometimes if I really set a goal I can get great results. I like to think I am pretty advanced but age is catching up with me :) I think I am in way better shape than most people I know that are in their 60s though. I have more flexibility and and am not huffing and puffing my way through small tasks. My daughters used to work out with me when they were teenagers. My middle daughter is 40 this year, my son is 42, and my youngest is 37. My daughters said they liked working out with me till I started wanting to put in a second workout.

Lori, my dog is so spoiled at times I have tried Rachel Ray Grain Free because of a coupon and IAms and she would skip meals. She particularly hates IAms. I had to mix stuff into it to get her to finish that bag. She would look at her bowl sniff and look at me and the refrigerator and walk off. After my other dog passed away I thought Gertie was sick too when she wouldn't eat. He got her to eat canned food and had me stir a little of the Pro Plan into her dry food and wean her back off. It took me back to using the Taste of the Wild Bison grain free to get her to eat. She still will sometimes decide to hold out for something better. Probably because I do add broth and stuff here and there. I throw in an egg when I am cooking eggs.
I bought Cathe's bands even though I had others because they are latex free. My daughter that is a doctor is highly allergic to Latex. I thought it was better that her children did not play with the latex ones and then go home and give her a hug. I let the younger grandchildren use the pink bands :) My grandson likes to come in the room when I am working out and tie the band to my spin bike and closet and it can be a giant sling shot or whatever he wants it to be :) They are only useful for something like Cathe's stretch with the band workout and not necessary for that.

Judy, how does the Cathe live cycle workouts compare to the dvds?

The plumber came and replaced outside faucets, new working parts to the toilets (no holding the handle down forever to flush :D ) , and installed my new bath faucets. The only thing is the hot water side still leaks :( I even went to the store and picked up another valve stem and it didn't work. We have to contact American Standard and see if we can get them to take care of it since we just ordered it from Home Depot. It is the part the stem hooks to and the plumber said we wouldn't be able to just go to Ace Hardware or somewhere to pick it up. That was frustrating. The faucet is nice. My husband picked one that was higher up so I could wash my hair in the sink if I want to. The Plumber said to get Delta next time. I am so hoping to manage Hammer and Chisel tomorrow before I go to lunch with my friend.

Diane-The live workouts aren't quite as organized as the DVD workouts. I think they are a little tougher too. It didn't seem like there were as many breaks and there was a lot of standing.

Good morning & Happy Friday.

It looks like the weekend will be cold, but maybe no more snow. I can live with that. No workout yesterday. I think I will start the rotation again on Sunday.

Diane Sue, Plumbing issues can be so frustrating. I had and did the first P90....this was the one without the "X"...then got P90X when it came out. I like Tony Horton, but felt I didn't get enough lower body work with his workouts. In P90X, I did the weight workouts, added my own cardio. Never did the Plyo one, and hated the yoga one...it was way too long. I ended up selling P90 on Ebay. I may do the same with P90X when I do my "culling" of DVD's soon. I do about the same as what you mention on the dog's food. I cook it, ( cannot get into the raw thing), turkey and chicken livers (1 pound: to 9 pounds of turkey) for the meat, and I vary vegetables each time. Also add unsweetened applesauce. I make their vitamin/mineral supplement separate, and then just add an 1/8 teaspoon to the food when I feed them. I make enough to last 2 weeks, same thing you mentioned, I freeze in 3 day portions. LOL on the comment about working out with your daughters and the second workout. :).

Valerie, I think if the headache does not go away I will try the steam idea. Thanks for reminding me of that. I hope the hot tub does not cost too much to fix. I have a Hoover canister vacuum that was my mother's. It is over 40 years old and still working wonderfully. I use it for floors/furniture only...never was good on carpet. Whenever I need a part for it, the vacuum repair guy drools over it and tells me never to give it up. The suction power on it beats anything that I have purchased.

Lynda, I actually went out to Walmart yesterday, seeing how much the cable stuff for my phone/streaming would be. They have it on their site, but not in the store. :(. Maybe a trip to Best Buy this weekend. I wanted to see if it works for streaming. I can test it with YouTube videos etc that I have before I think about signing up for LIVE.

Lori, wow Chalene! Another blast from the past. I have these too. They were copies someone sent to me so I can't sell them on Ebay....LOL. I did like them when I did them....though she is a little bit much. :). LOL on having all those firewalker bands to share.

Judy, great workouts! I think I will try not to go to the DR....like Lynda mentioned, I stay away from anti-biotics as much as I can, and that would probably be what the DR would do. Your dinner sounds great and very healthy! So you think the LIVE workouts are harder than the DVD's? or the other way around? I would like it if Cathe took more water breaks on the DVD's....

Hi to Josie,

Anyone have any fun plans this weekend? All we have it the dog club awards dinner...(no dogs allowed!)...:)

Take care,

a 40 yr old canister! that's something. they don't make vacuums like they used to. Life span seems to be more like 2 years these days. I have a 30 yr old Royal canister. I agree, fabulous suction. the power head died. not fixable. I use it as a garage/ car vac. it works great... but without the handle/power head, I'd be crawling on the floor with the hose! lets me keep the new sears one inside the house. I have more hard surfaces than carpeting but still enough carpet to prefer a canister so I can switch back and forth.
I knew you'd be leery about another course of antibiotics so thought steam might be a good alternative.

I ended up doing a load of shopping yesterday leaving DH home to clean and put some rooms back together. no workout except for the walking and loading/unloading. DH and I needed a break from each other.

DH is working on the hot tub. seems the tech gave him wrong information. we put in a new box but the short is in the tub itself because it immediately flips the bar when we turn power on. so we ordered a new circulation pump. DH had pointed out the pump issue to the tech but he said the problem was in the breaker. sigh. we will give another go at fixing it ourselves.

You all amaze me with you complicated, multiple workouts. I can go all day on outside activities, but indoors... about an hour is all I can stand. I used to find more on TV to distract me. that has deteriorated to almost nothing. We may have the cable people switch our Internet connection to the main floor..it is currently upstairs.... would give us better connectivity in the basement. I would need a new TValso it's an old big picture tube Sony that just keeps on working. I'm down to whatever is on channel 9 since we cut the cable, not that the cable was much help. just more things I didn't want to watch.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cathe Live Ice Chiseled Upper and Lower BB (51 min.). Nice mishmash of what is on the dvds.

Deb, I don't know about the spin workouts, but I think the live workouts are easier than the dvds because she has little breaks. DH has also commented on how the background exercisers on her dvds perform her moves almost perfectly (except maybe Brenda), while the women in the live workouts are just mirroring the moves as much as possible. Lots of different bodies, too, and they are not all ready for prime time but clearly enjoying the workout. It just feels more real, if that makes sense. Gee, I hope you feel better soon and I really understand why you don't want another round of antibiotics. No plans for the weekend, but it does promise to be a lot warmer than last weekend. I might go over to Saratoga and the Tang Museum at Skidmore to see this massive photography exhibition. Depends on how much energy I have after Houseman tomorrow.

Diane Sue, I can tell from the number of your posts that you have been on Cathe's forum for a long time. I cannot remember when I started posting on the forum, but I lurked for awhile. I feel in decent shape for my age too. I have to be careful though about impact. Bad knees.

Valerie, you may not do complicated multiple workouts, but I am equally impressed with all of the outside cycling and hiking you do.

Lori, I can really see how adding fire walker bands to the Sweat workout 1 would make it much more strenuous. I would probably end up injuring myself, though.

Judy, that sounds like a very healthy dinner. I love salmon when it's not overcooked.

Hi to Josie!
