Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--
I didn't do anything this morning because I was still on Pacific coast time when we finally made it back from Albany at about midnight. I stayed up until 3:30 unpacking while DH slept elsewhere because he had to get up so early to take pigs to Eagle Bridge. I did manage to get up at 8:30, so maybe tomorrow I will be back on east coast time. Very pleasantly surprised when I weighed myself this morning. I lost 7 lbs. and am down to 129, where I haven't been in years. Great food at Rancho la Puerta and I thought I was stuffing myself, but it's such clean eating.
Let's see: I went on 4 hikes, from 4.5 miles to 7, all in the early morning before breakfast (they do have some fruit and coffee at the departure pt.). I did a dance class--sometimes 2--every day (including a hilarious strip tease class), 4 sculpt and strengthen classes (I am going to try to find a flex bar, a piece of equipment that can really burn when you bend it) level 2, 2 stretch classes, 2 classes with tennis balls for massage, a meditation class (om-ing just reminds me of Allen Ginsburg though, so I prefer my Search Inside Yourself book), a feldenkrais class (don't really get this one). Loved the whole experience, although I don't think I like massages with all that oil or facials either. Too much oily stuff. Terrific instructors. All 45 minute classes so you could get to the next one. A lot of fun with my two friends, who both tried more new-agey stuff like watsui and crystal balls, drumming, and chanting. One of them fell asleep during the crystal balls. I was going to do a Hydro-Fit class, but one of my friends did this and said she just kept flipping up in the water with these buoyant things on her ankles. Sounded hilarious--with people flipping all over the place. A great big dance party the final night. A crazy bingo night with a stand-up comedian and zany prizes. A sociologist, Pepper Schwartz, with a lot of survey information about happy couples, which I thought was pretty soft in terms of its intellectual reliability, but amusing anyway. I didn't do any crafts (because I do a lot of sewing and knitting at home), but there was sculpting, yarn painting, etc. There were a few days where I was never out of my original workout clothes. I brought home one DVD by an instructor I liked a lot--"Hot Latin Cardio"--and treated myself to a gorgeous bracelet with a big chunk of amber. In San Diego, we went to the beach for one day when we arrived, spent a lot of time in Balboa Park before our bus to the spa, came back to gorge on a very naughty meal at a fancy restaurant, and yesterday, walked about 8500 steps (my smart phone counts steps, stairs--who knew?) at the Safari Park where the wild animals have a big spacious area to wander through. The weather was an incredible break from THIS. Arrived on time in Albany to 0 degrees. It's about 15 now. Watched the second half of the Super Bowl. Yeah Pats!!!!! I think it was just football karma--no way the Seahawks were going to get so lucky again with that crazy juggled ball that never hit turf.
I will have to catch up with all of your posts, but this is my little review. I really loved it and may do it again. I just wish it weren't so far away for me.
