Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/31/2023

did only weights and standing exercises yesterday. Ive done some balance works too. walked our yard for 35 min today, circling around up and down. keeps raining so not worth driving anywhere.

I dont wash things by hand often. hummingbird feeders, a few vases and not much else,. if it doesnt go in the DW I dont use it. I use the cuisinart a lot. bowls and blades go in the DW. I try not to use bottom shelf but does not always fit. Mine usually last for quite a few years so thats good enough. my favorite ones were the smaller 3 cup ones but the size was discontinued. it worked best for small quantities. the one now is 7 cup but it was the smallest serious food processor I could find. both the air fryer and instapot seem to work fine. I feel it's the cost of home cooking. things break and wear out. I am careful but I agree the DW is hard on things. I happen to hate/ detest/ despise/ hand washing so I dont do it.

Diane sue Cuisinart has their own store. they have more parts and accessories than amazon does. my old 3 cup unit has a citrus juicer piece I love. I saved one of the 3 cup base units just to juice limes with it. I do a big bag of them at a time and freeze the juice in ice cube trays. none of the new cuisinarts have that. I didn't like the way rice turned out in the instapot. we dont eat tons of rice so its no big deal to make it when I need it. the IP didnt save that much time.

Today I did Raw Strength 2 Cardio Acceleration, 59 minutes (I had to make a couple of stops to adjust) 221 calories, heartrate 113/144, 2,543 steps. I also did CDorner mobility from Jan 2, Better Movement which I really liked, 29 minutes,55 calories, heart rate 86/115. Total time was 88 minutes, 276 calories. I have not done Strength 2 Cardio and really liked it. I will do Strength 3 again Saturday (I think) My arthritis is flaring up so I will see how the joints feel. My lower spine has a sore spot that feels like a bump and hip hurts along with other things. I am replacing the supplements I let run out and hopefully do not need to see my arthritis doctor for an injection.

Carolyn, rest is more important than pushing yourself. I hope you get the energy back soon.

Valerie, I thought about contacting the company for a new bowl, but my husband was persistent about buying me a new one. I imagine it is mainly the bowls that give out over the motor part. I have a small Cuisinart 2 cup one that I got from Avon when my daughter sold it 15 years ago. It still works and I use it to chop up small things like onion. I have used it to blend up nut butter that had hardened and separated from the oils and it worked great. It would be nice if it had a part that would juice lemons and limes. I just use a hand sqeeze one of one. I keep frozen lemon juice for recipes too.
My oldest daughter is like that too about everything going in the dishwasher. I am not sure how much it helps though as I treated my pampered Chef cookware carefully and hand washed and the pots lost the teflon anyway. Once it deteriorated I threw them in the dishwasher and the outside finish came off and they just looked like metal and not the black color.

diane sue you're right, I forgot to mention pots and pans. I don't put those in the DW. that is enough hand washing for me right there. cuisinart has a web site and was a source for all the parts for the 3 cup processor. it was great for shredding things like carrots or cheese in amounts suitable for 2 person meals. the big units don't work as well and waste a lot. I never saw another small unit that shredded. they chop but dont shred. I have a small coffee grinder device that does spices and seeds. for garlic ginger I just use a knife. Knives also do NOT go in the DW. I get a big bag of limes at costco about once a year. we use the juicer device and do the whole bag at once. it takes a long time for the juice to freeze into cubes. they are in 1 TB cubes in the freezer in a zip lock ready to use. I use a lot of lime usually in small amounts like that.

the surgeon felt I was doing very well and said I can use the mt bike if I'm careful and not too bent over. DH will keep an eye on my form to see if it looks ok. I think it will be fine. we use roads this time of year, no trails or anything remotely rough. I can use weights if my back is supported. I will use common sense here believe me, but the weight bench with the back elevated will be perfect.

I got up early enough yesterday to shop that I was able to do Live Cardio Fusion (most kinds of cardio except step) and STS 2 Active Recovery. Still not sure how I feel about Active Recovery as it's so different from other things. I just finished doing STS 2 Disk 9, and when the bonus stuff starts I switched to the Killer Legs Barre. Last week when I did that I started feeling my glutes by late afternoon. LOL

Valerie sorry about the car issue. I hate going to my dealership for anything, because even with an appointment it can take hours for them to do even an oil change. After my free ones, I just started going to Valvoline and my tires from Discount Tire get me free tire rotations. Before Derek and I head for Fort Worth, I need to get my brakes checked, but I'm going somewhere else for that. I do have one transmission thing I have to go to the dealership for because Toyota kindly placed that area where it's off limits to anyone but a Toyota mechanic.

Carolyn nice job with Cardio Quick Fix. Smart to take a break if you are feeling tired.

Diane Sue great job with the kickboxing and cardio timesaver. All I had to do with the JetBlend was unscrew the base, you do that to clean it and the number is on the bottom. Cutting the seal basically killed it and leaves me holding my breath that a replacement actually shows up.

Hi Judy.

Today I did JS One Mile of Motivation for 16 minutes and 120 calories burned. My average heart rate was 139 and maximum heart rate was 158. Then I did STS 2 Chair Yoga for another 21 minutes and 61 calories.

Valerie, that’s great that you have clearance to start riding the mountain bike. And to use weights with your back supported. Wonderful progress.

Diane Sue, good job with Raw Strength Cardio Acceleration and CDorner Mobility.

Cathy, nice job with Live Cardio Fusion and STS 2 Active Recovery. I didn’t care for Active Recovery at all! I quickly started substituting another workout for that one.

Waving hello to Judy.

Our wheel fix at the dealer did not go right. it was the only thing we wanted done and after we got home DH checked it, and it didnt get done. no lug nut and the broken off stud still sitting there. no clue what they were thinking. so we had to take it back. we should have looked when we were there but it was raining and it was such a simple thing neither of us looked at the wheel. took it back to the subaru dealer and left it and it got done this time.
weve used discount tire before but have been using costco for tire rotation since we are there anyway. thi sis the second time its happened and the question is if costco is the problem, or if subaru does something wrong with the wheel studs making them prone to breaking .

this morning we walked our park walk for 1 hr 20 min. it is supposed to rain by mid day so we went early and walked fast and did the 90 min walk in 75 minutes. n
now that I have clearance to ride the weather has crapped out with rain, cold temps and generally miserable conditions. whatever. I will get to it as soon as I can.

Today I did CDorner Fast Basic Step that I have done before with good music, 46 minutes, 222 calories, 3,799 steps, heart rate 126/155. I then did STS 2 standing abs metabolic and standing abs floor core, 26 minutes, heart rate 115/141, 112 calories. I finished with CDorner Day 6 morning mobility wake up stretch, 12 minutes, 28 calories. Total time was 84 minutes, 362 calories, 4,412 steps.

That is odd that they let you pick the car up and did not fix the tire lug nut and stuff. It is not something that you should have to return for. Nice that you got in a walk today. Rain here too.

This morning I did Live Cardio Party Play Date. Pretty good mix and I liked it better than the last couple I've done. Then I did STS 2 mini ball abs and after breakfast I decided to do the chair yoga upstairs and gave up 7 minutes in because Tux was on a roll and I kept having to distract him from things. DH is gone this morning so I steam mopped the living room and kitchen. So much easier to move stuff when he isn't here. Downside of a small house.

Valerie that's lousy that you had to return to the dealership. Only time I've been comfortable with dealing with the mechanical side of a dealership is the one I worked co-op at in high school and got my car right after I graduated and went to work for the state. Family owned dealership and I new everyone from the owners on down. Most overbook and I've definitely had times when they tell me I need things that I actually don't. Sorry your weather has turned too yucky to ride, but it's great that you got in a good walk early.

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step, standing/floor abs (I really like that one) and mobility.

Carolyn nice job with JS One Mile of Motivation and with being able to get through the Chair Yoga. LOL

Hi Judy.

This morning I did JS Pyramid Power Walk for 30 minutes and 194 calories burned. My average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 169. Today is a wet, cold, and raw day. Miserable weather.

Valerie, that’s terrible about your wheel fix and having to return to the dealership. Nice job walking in the park.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step, STS 2 Standing Abs Metabolic, and CDorner Mobility.

Cathy, great job with Live Cardio Party Play Date and STS 2 Mini Ball Abs. Too bad about Tux and the Chair Yoga!

Hello to Judy.

there are many places we can get tires swapped out. costco is the easiest and it can happen while we are shopping. we'll worry about tires when we need to. these snows are on their last season so we will drive them until they need replacing. still no clue what happened at the dealer. we try limit the dealer to major service or recall things. this was the single thing we brought the car in for. its not like we had 20 things on a to-do list and one got overlooked. they weren't even busy. DH always checks things after they should have been done but this time neither of us thought of it until later.

I would love to have a kitty again. weve been looking but havent found the right fit yet. Tux sounds like a riot.

Today I did Raw Strength 3: Cardio Acceleration, 51 minutes 209 calories, heartrate 120/155. I then did Raw Sculpt Box & Tone, 100 calories, 20 minutes, heart rate 121/140. I finished with Raw Stretch Flow 20 minutes, 33 calories. Total time 91 minutes, 342 calories, 2,547 steps. I think I might do Raw heavy bag workouts next week with the different body parts work on them. Starting with Heavy Bag and Legs I just need to make some adjustments for space in the room for heavy bag and the weights will need to be carted into that room.

Cathe, nice work on Live Cardio Party Play Date, mini ball abs, and part of chair yoga. I like all of the STS 2 ab/core workouts, but, mostly choose the one with weights. It works more than just the core.

Carolyn, good job on JS Pyramid Power Walk for 30 minutes today. It is cold here today and rained yesterday a bit. Snow is in the forecast for next week. They moved my ladies group day to the following week hoping no snow.

Valerie, I do not know what is up with dealerships and car issues. We have had problems with them several times. We used to go to a car repair place close by our other home most of the time and they were good and knowledgeable. They also had a van that they used to transport people home and pick them up when leaving there vehicles. The Spark was in the shop for weeks at a dealership and under warranty and when dh went by to check on it, they had to hunt for it. It was way back in the lot. Then the Jeep thing. Husband checked the mileage before he left it for them to try to see if it did the surging. They called us two weeks later and said it drove fine and nothing. There was no miles put on it. That vehicle was dangerous and they sold it right after we got another car so now someone elses problem. Nothing we can do. My husband told their person that works for Jeep handling complaints etc..
