Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/24/2023

Today I did CDorner Basic Intermediate Step 80's Music #347 (128bpm) 31 minutes, 154 calories, heart rate 127/161. I then did STS 2.0 Mish Mosh standing abs (was not all standing) 20 minutes, 94 calories, heart rate 118/142. Finished with STS 2.0 mobility 2, 17 minutes, 24 calories. Total time was 68 minutes, 272 calories.

Just finished STS Disk 6, and I stopped after the weighted section and did the Killer Barre Bonus :eek::eek: Granted I'd already worked my legs but wow. That is definitely the hardest for me barre that she's done. I used the ball, though others have said it works fine without it, and the last section uses the fire walker loop. I'll definitely use it again and I like the fact that for a bonus it includes a decent amount of stretching at the end and during.

Diane Sue great job with the CDorner Basic Intermediate Step workout, abs and mobility.

cathy that is so bizarre. I swear a mouse sneeze wakes me up. cant imagine sleeping thru much of anything. planning NYE already to be asleep before the local morons start shooting off fireworks. If I'm asleep already with a pillow over my head I can usually sleep thru it.

yesterday I did a 30 min walk in the yard at a faster clip, and then all standing exercises. finally got DH to bring my 5 and 8 lb weights up for me to use. I'm so sick of doing a million reps with the 4's that dont do much. better than nothing tho. I ran thru those for a set and dont feel anything today so those should be OK.

Good afternoon.

Cathy, nice job with your Finished Combos, STS disc 6, and Killer Legs barre bonus. Ouch on that burn! I’m glad that it wasn’t worse.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Step, STS 2 Standing Abs, and Mobility 2.

Valerie, great job with walking, standing exercises, and moving up to heavier weights.

Hello to Judy.

Today I did a new Raw workout Strength #3:cardioacceleration, 57 minutes(49:47 actual) heart rate 113/153, 200 calories. I finished with CDorner Wake Up Stretch day 6, 13 minutes, 27 calories. Total time was 70 minutes, 227 calories. I did not go as high as Kelly in some of the moves. She was doing the start up with 20's for push press. That is not happening here. Wednesday I did an easy row then 10 minutes of Peloton arms & light weights. Yesterday I did 45 minutes of Yin Yoga and a 10 minute Peloton core workout. Today I did an easy 30 minute Peloton ride. I am really looking forward to getting back to my regular workouts next week but I can tell that I really needed an active rest week and I probably need to schedule them more often.

Valerie-I’m liking Netflix so far. I’m looking forward to getting into The Crown.
Great job with the walking and moving up to heavier weights.

Cathy-Great job with your Finished Combos and STS Disk 6. I’m sorry about the tea spill. That sounds painful. Hopefully it’s not too bad.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Basic Intermediate Step, STS 2.0 Mish Mosh standing abs, STS 2.0 mobility 2 and Raw Strength #3. The Raw Strength one sounds good.

Hi to Carolyn.

Carolyn, it probably would be easier to take some rest days while family is there. I have several packages that were supposed to have been delivered before Christmas. A sweater showed up today. I ordered some Quercetin to help with my allergies and Amazon said overnight. It has been two days now and it is not here yet and they do not know how long it will be. An eyeshadow that I ordered showed up today after two weeks with a bunch of labels slapped on top of each other.

Cathy, nice work on STS disc 6. Which of the new workouts is that barre bonus on? I like working with the
bands.

Judy, nice work on Wednesdays Row and 10 minutes of Peloton arms and light weights, yesterday's 45 minutes of yin yoga and Peloton Core workout, and todays Peloton 30 minute ride. Those active rest weeks really do help. I always come back at the workouts with more energy and strength after them.

Valerie, you are doing well moving up in weights and getting in the walks. My dog will be whining if they start shooting off fire works here. I told my husband they couldn't pay me enough to go watch the ball drop or things like our city festivities. I hate that sort of thing. I am sure I will hear something though.

This morning I did Live Mixed Impact Cardio Express. I really liked that one. Short with 10 drills, but done in ways different from other workouts. Then I did STS 2 Standing Core Plus Floor and Chair Yoga.

Diane Sue I agree with you about NYE ball drops, but if I had the chance I'd definitely like to see Mackinac Island's Great Turtle Drop. The legend is that the island is named for a great turtle which it resembles. https://www.mackinacisland.org/event-calendar/new-years-eve-great-turtle-drop/. The barre bonus is on Killer Legs. Most of it is with the yoga ball, last section with the bands. Great job with Raw workout Strength and the stretch.

Judy nice job with the Peloton workouts. The burn isn't too bad, though will see as they look worse as they heal. It barely blistered at all, which is a big plus.

Valerie it's so great that you are walking faster and upping your weights. We get very little NYE fireworks here, so hopefully I won't hear any. Neither side of us do them, so it would have to be farther off.

Hi Carolyn.

I did a 30 min spin yesterday, and used the 5's and 8's for 2 -3 sets of assorted curls. not sore this morning. I've been doing toe raises. think its why my ankle is bothering me. going to back off to none for a while and see if that's it. ankle is sore and swollen but ok the next day. I iced it last night. I thought it would help calf muscles but nothing there gets sore, just inside of one ankle. I will try presses today. if I support my back with the elevated bench it should be ok. Im screamingly tired of not being able to do much. I think the back support will take my back totally out of the work, but I will go light and see how it feels. I might be able to lie flat and do them too. will see.

we have a lot of Indian reservations here, with obnoxious giant casinos. tribes have always sold fireworks on their land. fireworks totally illegal everywhere else. supposedly, these items are bought and used on reservation land. Dream on! tribes are a major financial influence here. they are very wealthy now and really dont need to do this, but they do. tons of people buy the crap, take it home and blow it up whenever they feel like it. holidays,4th of july and NYE are worst. sounds like a war zone for days before and after. every year people are injured, animals go crazy and are lost and injured, and its so out of control, law enforcement cant do anything about it. bad weather and rain puts a damper on it butsome always happens. we usually try to be home because we've found debris on our roof and yard, is scary in dry times of the year. NYE isn't risky that way, but its hard to sleep since isolated ka-booms go off all the time along with the big blow out at midnight.

Judy Im glad you like your rower. I kind of liked it because its such a different workout, but DH hated it and we dont have a lot of room there for things that don't get used.

Today I did Raw Ignite Your Metabolism, 35 minutes, 159 calories, heart rate 119/153, 1,537 steps. I finished with CDorner Morning Mobility Flow Day 19, 13 minutes. Total time was 48 minutes, 172 calories. I have been kind of rushed the last couple of mornings. I was not fond of this workout. Too much jumping. Kelly does say you can do it without the step, on one move she says you could use a rebounder if that is more comfortable. She encourages the jumping to build muscle and help joints. I did the option on the boxing portions to use 2# dumbbells as she says it is a good place to add egg weights. My knee hurt when I was done and I did modify a bit. I hate jumping off of the step so do not do it. Too much force IMO for old joints and arthritis.
I am picking up two of my younger grandchildren tomorrow to spend the night with us. It will be fun.

Cathe, great job on Live Mixed Impact Cardio Express and STS 2 Core plus flower and chair yoga. The turtle drop looks more interesting. Looking at the Trek through the snow and lanterns looks pretty, but like I would be freezing. I seriously can never bundle up enough and not be cold. Just looking at the crowds already waiting for the ball drop makes me wince. I hope they stay safe. I would like to be the one that sleeps through alarms and noise, but I guess some of us need to be able to wake up and wake the one that wants to be work up. I would say maybe it is guys in general that can sleep through about anything, but then my husband doesn't we both have a hard time sleeping. I understand his though because he is trying to sleep during the day and no amount of black out curtains and all doors shut helps. I have such a habit of burning myself in the kitchen that I have had my children suggest I keep an aloe vera plant handy.

Valerie, I don't think we will have a lot of booms, but there will probably be a few. 4th of July is the one that is crazy with us on the edge between two cities and one allows fireworks sales in town. It is rough on people who have pets. My dog is okay if she can go in my room when I go to bed and lie by the bed. She does that with thunder or anything at night like that. I guess my husband and I are her safety net in a dark room. Otherwise, if we are watching television she will pace and whine and bark for it to stop. That is too close if you find debris in your yard.
