Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/22

Did a 35 min spin, 50 knee push ups, and 40 sit ups yesterday. Dh went off with a friend so i did some minor but annoying jobs... clean the oven. It’s been years! If you don’t cook meat it stays pretty clean but it was time. Planned to ride today but sounded like rain during the night so not sure. Will wait for light before deciding.
Guess I’m not the only one who dislikes Supermans but have not seen new versions. I lift everything but not much ROM.
Waiting on wallpaper. Said delivery on 25th but not here yet. I didn’t believe it would happen but would like to finish and we can’t put in anything until paper is done.

Today I did JS WS3 Cardio Hit. That was 31 minutes and 212 calories burned. My average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 157.

Deb, I sympathize with you and the headache. The same thing happens to me occasionally. I don’t mind supermans, but I don't try to elevate very high. I’m curious about doing them using the risers.

Judy, keeping your workouts upstairs to avoid your husband’s projects is a good idea. I like having a few days of quiet time.

Diane Sue, did you get a Fitbit Versa for Christmas? I still haven’t opened my Step Boss dvds. I’m looking forward to them.

Valerie, great job with the spin bike, push-ups and sit-ups.

Hello to Lori.

I just finished my workout. Jessica Smith Walk Strong and Have Fun two workouts: Step and Stride, 163 calories, heart rate average 133, max 157, 3,413 steps and Steady Read Go 31 minutes, 190 calories, heart rate average 142, max 173, 3,237 steps. I then did Step Boss Abs 2 which uses the step, 11 minutes, heart rate average 114, max 132, 133 steps, 36 calories finishing with Step Boss Chair Stretch, 16 minutes, heart rate average 101, max 117, 27 steps, 25 calories. TOTAL TIME 88 minutes, 414 calories, 6,810 steps :) I will come back in awhile. My husband is off today and I need to get showered.

Judy, I can see why you would just do the Peloton workouts upstairs. Nice that you husband is getting some projects done. I should use the Tread Climber more. Should do it before I go to do the stress test Friday just to get my walking legs going. Of course I won't do anything Friday morning. My appointment is early. I Max 4 is not as tough to me as the other ones. I want to try the premix that does the blasts 2 times throughout. The blasts do not see real long.

Deb, I am sorry you had such a bad headache. I hope it gets better. I never cared for superman moves, but they are supposed to be good. They had me do a few with moving my shoulders down and back. I can see it strengthening the back muscles that we consistently are using to lean forward.

Valerie, the mail seems to be much slower lately. Amazon used to be great at Christmas time even getting last minute gifts out, but this year not so much. They seem to be relying more on the USPS again lately. My youngest daughter and her family are doing their Christmas tomorrow since Amazon did not get a lot of their packages there on time. Hopefully you get your wallpaper soon. Cathe can sure make those superman moves tough when she adds legs in and out and those swimmer things are dreadful. I have to take breaks.
I don't think you have to lift all that high on superman moves for them to be effective. In fact I think if you go too high you may end up hurting. At least that is my experience. Low back pain is not fun either.

Carolyn, yes, I got the Fit Bit Versa 2. I really like it a lot. It has some nice features and more exercises settings. I found out though that the Interval setting under exercises is a timed setting having work and pause throughout so I guess that is for your own interval workouts. I did see a spot to set the times. I like that I can reply to texts with a special message like just the word yes when I tap on it or I will be back in a bit. Also I can get weather and ask Alexa questions and she gives me answers. It has apps built in that I have not done mush with yet. Lots of screen options free and some that you can purchase. I like the one that shows my steps and heart rate stats on the screen. I was in a Jessica Smith mood today. I really would like to get Walk Strong 3 eventually.

did chiseled upper body premix today but kicked up the weight and the # of reps. Costco run took me a while, didn't allow for the extra time. plus today was raining. now we want to ride or hike tomorrow so don't want to be tired from the get-go, so a lighter workout was best. added in a load of knee push ups too.

the superman moves I feel heavily in lower back area. I don't elevate much but its hard.

I didn't expect a wallpaper shipment would get fast forwarded or delivered on the 25th but now this is annoying. we want to finish this up.

Did a hike this morning, 1 hr 45 min. a new spot, and unfortunately not great. too close to the freeway, might be OK on a bike but not for walking.

Today I did a timesaver from Stacked Sets Lower Body. My time was 33 minutes and 133 calories burned. Average heart rate was 109 and maximum heart rate was 137. Thursday everyone here was working out. I did my morning workout and daughters two, three, and 11 year old granddaughter did the entire Barre Amped dvd. My husband went to the gym to work out with his trainer and my son-in-law went to the pool to swim. I was very proud of us for getting our activity done. Daughter One did Barre Amped yesterday. Barre Amped is now available on Amazon Prime video for free so they can do it again after they go home.

Diane Sue, I agree that you don’t need to elevate very much for the superman move to be effective. The Versa 2 sounds like a nice device.

Valerie, I hope you are able to get your hike in today. Sometimes I will lift just my upper body when doing the superman depending on the hand position that Cathe is using. Some positions are harder for me than others.

Hello to Deb, Judy, and Lori.

This morning I did Kelly Coffey one on one cardio sculpt overload. This was the first time I have done the whole workout since I got them. I wore a 4# vest(I think Kelly said somewhere she was using a 6# one) I used the 2# for boxing moves and 12 for most of the rest except snatches which I used 10. Kelly uses 12#. This was 52 minutes, 249 calories, heart rate average 128, max 161, 3,436 steps, met 5.6. I then did Jane Adams 7 practices for your day morning energy, 17 minutes, 40 calories according to map my fitness since I forgot to start my fit bit. I also did Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga back and chest flow, 21 minutes, 30 calories, heart rate average 94, mas 123, 27 steps, met 1.7. Total time was 90 minutes, calories burned 319, 3,528 steps.

Carolyn, I will have to check out Barre Amped on Amazon. I loaned the stretch and strength one to my daughter in law and I only have the bounce one. Nice that everyone worked out.

Valerie, we ordered out tin ceiling from Home Depot and it said a couple of days for delivery and it ended up being 3 weeks. It rained here today too. Hope you can get your ride or hike in tomorrow.
