Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/17/2023

Well, no workout for me today. My refrigerator died!!! I just came back from Lowe’s where I bought a new one to be delivered tomorrow. My appliances have had the most inconvenient timing for breaking. The sad part is that I had planned to look for a new refrigerator in January. We’ve pulled out the coolers and most things will be fine.

I hope that all of you have a better day than mine.

Finally slept till my alarm this morning and did Live Boom Boom Pow Kickbox and STS Disk 3 Legs. Heading for my parents this afternoon. If I can actually get them all out the door. Sigh. Derek will be ready, the other two aren't so easy.

Diane Sue great job with STS 2 Upper Body 1, and the mobility stretches.

Carolyn nice job with ICE Pyramid Pump Upper Body, up only premix.

Valerie sounds like you got in an excellent walk. Those are the kinds of path I prefer to hike on.

Judy great job with Total Body workout and rowing. My workouts didn't make it to the local PO yesterday in time to go out. They had to go to three other places in MI first. So crazy the way the mail goes these days.

Today is a rest day. I’m planning on doing an active rest week, or at least several days, so I probably won’t do any hard workouts until after Christmas. We don’t have travel plans this year so it will be nice to stay home and relax for a few days.

Valerie-Great job with the 95 minute walk. Cathe’s new workouts look really good. I’ll be trying out the lower body and kickboxing ones later next week.

Carolyn-Great job with Pyramid Pump Upper Body, up only premix. I’m sorry about your refrigerator, that is really bad timing. I’m glad that you will be able get your new one delivered so soon.

Diane Sue-Great job with STS 2.0 Upper Body #1 and CDorner Day 5 & Day 12 upper body and shoulder mobility stretches. I think I will look those stretches up and do them for one of my active rest day workouts.

Cathy-Great job with Live Boom Boom Pow Kickbox and STS Disk 3 Legs. I’m glad you got more sleep last night. Have a safe trip.

Carolyn that is the worst timing! our fridge is not that old but we are already discussing what to replace it with. we dont have many options because fridges are slightly taller now and our space is not getting bigger. yours could have died on sunday or monday which would have been even worse. I dont remember if you have family there already? good luck with storing things, but at least its not 90 degrees out. we have an old back up fridge in the garage and a separate freezer. they are never full so I have room in case of disaster.

we are staying home, not doing anything special. weather isn't looking great. we will probably get a few walks in. I talked to my primary care doc yesterday on video. she was much more relaxed about me getting back on my nsaids and doing more. I think DH is way over the top on what he thinks I can do but I dont want to risk a problem. it reinforced my plan to stay off nsaids until xmas. its only a very few days so I will stay with my plan and shorten the 3 month wait to 2 months.

Valerie, you are right—it could have been worse. I have 2 of my daughters here, but daughter number three and family will not be here until the 26th. We have a full size freezer which helps. We have been in this house for 25 years and everything is starting to go at the same time. We should be set for a while now.

Today I did not have much time as we went to lunch with our daughter and her boyfriend. I did CDorner Step #341 21 minutes, 113 calories. This afternoon I went back and did CDorner mobility #12 upper body stretch again and #10 for 20 minute spinal mobility. I am really sore from the workout yesterday as I upped some weights and did the pull ups and chin ups. I feel much better after doing that.

Carolyn, it is bad timing on the refrigerator. I am glad you were able to order one right away and will get it soon. We keep talking about replacing ours as the seal has a rip in it from the drawers scraping it(poor design) and the ice maker will not push out the ice. It makes it and we have to open the door and get it out of the bin. We do have a side by side in the garage if something goes wrong though. It has a tendency to freeze things in the back and not freeze well in the freezer on the top shelf. I think appliances never choose a convenient time to quit.

Cathy, great job on Live Boom Boom Pow Kickbox and STS Disc 3 Legs today. I hope you have a nice visit with your parents today.

Judy, enjoy your rest day and active days. If you go to CDorner on Youtube and click on her channel she has the 30 day challenge workout playlist there.

Valerie, apprehensive about pushing too quickly though. You were in such good shape to begin with so you are probably mending faster than the average person would. Be careful though. Too bad you have to wait for the go ahead.

Today I did CDorner Fast Basic Step #346, 58 minutes with the addition of 13 minutes of a couple of others I decided not to do, total of 71 minutes, 336 calories, heart rate 129/165, 5,908 steps. This had a 9 minute stretch at the end and I added on CDorner Day 12 upper body stretch for 10 minutes and 12 calories. Total time was 81 minutes, 348 calories
