Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/6/2022

This morning I did part of Athletic Training from the LIS. I skipped the leg sections with the loop and abs. My time was 47 minutes with 253 calories burned. Average heart rate was 122 and maximum heart rate was 152.

Cathy, it‘s good that you had such nice weather for walking. Great job with Core Intensive Strength and Conditioning. I wonder if some of those unfamiliar moves are from the new workouts.

Judy, nice job with the Fit Tower workout and Peloton ride.

Hello to Valerie, Diane Sue, and Lori.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Shoulder Limitations workout(arms, legs, scapular). This was 36 minutes, heart rate 97/120, 104 calories. I then did CDorner 30 minute Hiit Step workout, 31 minutes, heart rate 128/155, 159 calories. I liked this one and the music was rock. I did the modifiers for most of the plank work. I finished with Raw Athletic Stretch #@, 30 minutes, 57 calories, heart rate 84/102. Total time was 97 minutes, 320 calories, 2018 steps. I wanted to get in weights, but careful because neck and traps are hurting the last two days. I have missed out on my stretching and mobility with having to run out the door a lot and interruptions. I had a good night sleep last night. My ultrasound went well and no changes. They told me they would see me in 6 months when I come back for my mammogram.

I had typed responses to posts and somehow lost all of them when I went back to page one to read again. I hate when that happens. It is really cold here today. I got up this morning and adjusted the thermostate since it was still set for air conditioning. Hopefully I do not need it too much just yet. My weather app said it was snowing, but I did not see any. It probably would have melted as the day progressed though. Forecast is snow on Monday. I hope it is short lived. This is early in the year, but it can happen. I remember a heavy snowstorm in October two different times in all of the years we have lived here. My husband ordered me a set of All Clad stainless cookwear for Christmas along with cooking utensils. I am tired of the pans we have been eating teflon off of and eggs and things stick to my cast iron. We have Gotham Steel and I still have things sometimes stick. I have to clean well with baking soda to be sure the grease is not there cooked on it. I never put it in the dishwasher. I doubt I will the stainless steel either. It is American Made and top quality stuff.

Cathy, I have the 3 dvds that came with the Fit Tower and the set of 3 that I purchased. Doesn't Cathe have a few Fit Tower workouts on her live channel? I hope weather is not to bad for you have a safe trip.

Carolyn, nice work on LIS athletic training.

Judy, great job doing a Peloton ride and Fit Tower workout. I usually use heavier bands when I do Fit Tower workouts and sometimes add ankle weights.

Valerie, I hope the power is up there.

Diane Sue, you will enjoy the All Clad. I bought a set about 25 years ago and I have never regretted it. I use Bar Keepers Friend to clean it.

Just finished the newest live Cardio Kick and Punch. Starts out with boxing, then gloves off for cardio, the end of the cardio is kicking combos, then gloves back on for some kickboxing ending with heavy bag work. Definitely got a good workout. Derek is getting his first real snow of the year, though it looks like things should be good to go up there by Friday. not loving the fact that I'm seeing possible snow squalls in several areas of the lower peninsula. Not a fan of those. I should be past those areas by 10 a.m. so hopefully I miss them. Everything else for the trip looks okay. Mainly I just have to get to Marquette and down into WI Friday.

Carolyn great job with Athletic Training. I'm thinking a lot of the new moves she's been doing the last few months may show up in STS 2.0.

Diane Sue nice job with Shoulder Limitations workout, Hiit Step and Stretch workouts. Yes there are Cathe Lives using the Fit Tower.

Hi to everyone else!

yes I think everyone is powered back up. there might be some isolated spots where people live almost off the grid. vast majority are up and running again. a rough start to the season.

I have one nonstick pan, I forget what the technology is but not teflon. holding up well. works great especially for eggs. I haven't had great luck with stainless but never had all clad. Id love to hear how its worked out. I have cast iron, porcelain coated cast iron, and a mix of other things. I bought a pasta pot, stainless with a strainer top that I love. it works so well and wasnt expensive. not part of a set. we all get cooking habits. sets don't ever have the right sizes so I dont own one.

I just ordered a new set of dishes. used one set of lennox for more than 35 years. looking worn and getting chips. I never wanted two sets, everyday, and special occasion. used the same set for everything. same with silverware. ordered a setting for 4 that will arrive monday and if I like it will order a second set.

we got a fair amount of snow in MT and a generous amount in the mountains here for an early start on a good snow year. we hope to head to MT next weekend. the first couple snow storms cause the worst driving issues. people must get used to winter driving all over again.

did therapy and 20 min on the spin bike plus a segment of stacked upper body. trying to ease back in slowly.

Today is a rest day. I had my meeting this morning and now I’m starting a pot of soup to simmer for dinner. When the weather is cold, wet, and gray like this I love to have soup or chili.

All Clad cookware heats evenly and doesn’t have hot spots, but stainless is not the best material for every cooking task. I use it for sautéing vegetables, boiling liquids, cooking pasta, etc. I have a couple of ceramic frying pans (Greenpan), regular cast iron, and porcelain coated cast iron also. I’m using the large Le Creuset cast iron for the soup today. I have a Le Creuset braiser that I call my everything pan. It’s the perfect pan for so many things. I think that individual pieces work better than a full set of cookware since you can buy the pieces that you need.

Have a wonderful afternoon everyone.

carolyn thanks. sounds like we arrived at similar kitchen set ups. I have 2 large le creuset dutch ovens bought back when they were inexpensive. I mean maybe $50. now they are $300. I used them for soup and chili for decades but now I'm a convert to the instant pot. I still use them but not as often. I looked at All clad but never bought any. I prefer bigger & deeper pans to reduce spatter. nonstick spray will kill off the cooking surface on pans. it cooks onto the surface and wont come off. I have a big stainless steel wok that I hoped would be fairly nonstick but it doesn't work that way. a little disappointed in it.

Today I did Some of CDorner Step that she did this morning and switched to I Max 4 skipping the warm up, this was 53 minutes, heart rate 117/159, 234 calories, 3,934 steps. Chris was doing moves that hurts my ankles and knees with the twists and turns so quick. I also did CDorner Back Stretch, 17 minutes, 32 calories, heart rate 81/101. Total time was 71 minutes, 267 calories. Heading out to dinner this afternoon with my granddaughter and her husband.

I am keeping my two cast iron pans and the Gotham Steel pieces. They work well as nonstick pans most of the time as long as you do not use high heat. I will let you know how cooking goes with my All Clad. I am just tired of most non stick cookware because the surface ends up sticking after while. I use baking soda on my Gotham Steel when they start sticking and it cleans off the cooked on oils. They do not work well as advertised with no oil needed. My Pampered chef saucepan no longer has teflon on the inside and the exterior is rubbing off to reveal metal. I guess the guarantee was for the metal.
