Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I felt horrible most of the day. We just worked on getting the house back together. We got new lamps and John set them up. We had a hard frost last night, and the prediction is for 4-6 inches of snow in the city and lots more in the outskirts...ugh...winter is here alright.

Valerie, that's great that the wall is done, I bet it looks great. Some more pics here would be fine. :).

Caitlin, that's good that the special pillow helped you too! I hope your knee feels better. What new workouts did you get?

Diane Sue, it sounds like you had a good time with the grandkids...nice! :). As for your SIL and diet, as of this point, I would give up anything if I knew if would make this go away.

Maybe a workout, we'll see. Still need to get the living room back together...

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

No workout yesterday. I was pretty much exhasted the entire day. We went to bed at 10:30pm on Friday then woke up at 2am to get ready and leave the house for our 5am flight. Had fun visiting with family when we arrive and we got our second wind. Going to do the 2half of total body band and glide followed up with a sb lower body. This combination will give me a great TB workout.

Deb...hope you are feeling better today. Sounds like your home is ready for Thanksgiving. Ugh...I am not ready for snow yet. We ate lunch at a restaurant on Pensacola Beach. The water is a beautiful shade of aqua and the sand is so white. Wish I could stay here all winter!

Valerie...yeah the wall is done. Ours is a mid range DW also. They can get so pricey! Hoping we both have great luck with these. I think xtrain is my favorit too followed up with the Ice Series.

Judy...we should all meet up at a Cathe roadtrip some day. That would be fun! Hoping your knee is feeling better today.

Carolyn...we come home Friday and on Saturday we are cooking a fried Turkey and Nicholas and his GF will be coming over. Will ne nice.

Diane Sue...I love that your granddaughter workouts out with you and brings clothes to do so. I bet you enjoy that a lot! I love hearing about all the cooking and baking everyone does! And recipes shared.

Caitlin...I completely understand needing more workouts. I have a ton because I get bored so easily. motivates me to have variety!

Have a great day all!

Deb, I am so sorry. I know you are really trying hard to get better and it is frustrating. I do not understand people that will just keep on doing the same thing th a t gives them problems. I think they get bettet, get away with cheating a few days and then their body rebels. My son in law has traumatic brain injury from Apfghanistan. He gets terrible headaches. They had to treat him for some sort of seizures? I think he has been doing much better, but my daughter said Friday after they got home he had one of those headaches a nd was lying on the floor. I wis he could take care of himself as best possible. I feel sorry for him. It is such a good guy.

Lorie, travel usually is exhausting. I think the initial family visit is always a lot of hugs and catching up. Then the visits settle down :)
our workout seemed light yesterday , but oddly my hamstrings are sore this morning. Olivia picked up 3# hand weights on her own while doing the discs. She is such and intelligent little girl. She said she needed to strengthen her legs more for her Irish Dancing and her physical education class that she goes to. She is homeschooled. I think she sometimes baffles other children with her knowledge and bog words. She inderstands so much. Then she can be childish in actions when fussing with her brothers and playing. Quite a sweet interesting young lady. My daughter sent me a picture of her she caught when she stepped in her room and she was sitting in a little chair with her Bible in her lap reading it. She is an avid reader. Enjoy your family time. I know you will get some workouts in.

Deb, I'm sorry you seem to be getting nowhere with this. when do you see your doc again? Have you had regular lab blood tests run since this all began? just the regular screening tests that sometimes don't get done anymore.

We are getting a lot of rain. no freeze yet. pretty mild temps but rain gets tedious. my hanging plants are still blooming. they are under the edge of an upper deck so don't get rained to pieces and will keep going until we get a frost. some years we never get a hard frost but this is supposed to be a la nina so should be colder and wetter than usual. still lots of hummingbirds. they stay all year now... global warming in action. only the last few years starting in about 2011. before that they didn't stay here all year but they do now.

I did total body metabolic again yesterday, plus icy core. It's funny, this time the music on this one got on my nerves. that is the main thing I thought about when preordering the next series.... will it be this loud? I raised my weights to Cathe's level on several moves. I have a few moves remaining where I'm using 8's instead of her 10's, and I still do knee pushups, but twice as many.

Lori enjoy the warmth and sand. I am the crank who hated Florida. the humidity does me in. Travel, especially flying, wears me out.
I thought DW's showed diminishing returns in costs to benefits after mid range. the cycles are longer on this one than my old one, by 20-30 minutes.

I hope you you are feeling better Deb I am a bit upset because.Frank is forcing me to take a rest day to take a rest day and I had one the day I had a pedicure and manicure.

Hi Everyone,
I didn't work out at all yesterday. I had a hair appointment and an errand. After that I came home and made whole wheat yeast rolls. I did not grind my own wheat flour this time which is what I usually do for baking bread.

Today I did RWH Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders. After that I did SB Barre Amped Upper Body Stretch and Relaxation Stretch. I felt great afterwards. The stretches really help with my shoulder.

Diane Sue, your day with grandkids sounds like a lot of fun. It's too bad that your son-in-law is unable to stick with a food plan that would help him feel better. I wonder if that is related to the TBI. Planning and following through are sometimes an issue.

Deb, it must be very frustrating to continue with the digestive issues. I hope you get some relief soon.

Have a great day.

The family afternoon birthday was fun. Later my grandson 19 came over so my husband could get some good pictures for our family picture wall. He had dinner with us and stayed for awhile. I need to pull out some Christmas stuff and start decorating.

Valerie, in our last home I moved my roses to our side covered patio which was walled on 3 sides and mulched them. They stayed somewhat green through the snow and cold weather. The same with the hydrangea. It looked really good this season and has grown a lot and it is in a pot. I keep it by the dryer vent now as well as the roses. They seem to all do well there and winter well there. I am pretty sure that it is the metabolic workout on Ice that I did not like the sound track to. I don't think it is the volume though. I think I just did not care for the music. Now most of the one that came out like Party Rock'n step and Rock Out Knock Out I liked the music too quite a lot. I am hoping to like the next series.

Carolyn, fresh ground wheat makes some of the best bread. I am unsure if the TBI has something to do with the other. I would imagine it would all work together. I think the one nutrition plan that I have looked into that I would have a hard time with is an auto immune plan that is ultra strict. Everything needs to be purchased as fresh as you can get it and used right away. It kind of leaves out cook ahead and leftovers. You wouldn't eat foods that have been sitting around for any length of time. Of course all organic and gluten free, no sugar or sweeteners at all. For one thing it would be terribly costly and time consuming to eat like that. But, I guess it would be worth it if it made a person feel well again.

Caitlin, my husband might suggest that maybe I should take a break from my workout, but I am not one to listen. I know how I feel and what works and what does not. A lot of the time if I do not work out I end up with more tightness and soreness. Moving keeps the joints feeling good. Now, things like an injury, or like the shoulder and neck problem I have are different, and I know that they have not been an area that can handle the weight work right now. I could feel it. It is improving a lot though and soon I think I will be ready to try something light. Does Frank think that your hurting your knees and back?? At least he cares. I bet that you are anxious to use the new weights.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Metabolic Conditioning. We did manage to get the dining room, and most of the living room put back together. We didn't do any of the book shelves, cabinets. That will be after Thanksgiving. We need to really go through all that stuff and donate a ton of it.

Lori, glad the trip was good. Where are you exactly? You will be missing the first snowfall of the season, ( you lucky dog!)...

Diane Sue, what your SIL has sounds awful. Going off the meds has been a real challenge, even though the DR agreed that they were really not helping me. I am on Carafate, which is what they give people with ulcers. It coats the stomach. It has not really worked yet, but its only been 2 days on it so we will see. I am starting to believe it is a stress thing. It sounds like Olivia will be following in her grandmother's footsteps. :)
Christmas decorating??? Yikes! I need to get through Thanksgiving....LOL...

Valerie, I had blood work done last January, for my yearly physical...not since this started. Would that show anything regarding this? Great that you can match Cathe's weights in the workout!

Caitlin, maybe a rest day is something that you need. A couple a week is not that bad, especially if you are injured. Shipping for 20 pound weights must be expensive!

Carolyn, wow, you grind your own wheat flour? What do you use? That's a lot of work!

Not sure what is up for today, I have to go to my cousins to pick up the small turkey. We bought a 22 pound and she is giving us a 13 pound that she had frozen.

Take care,

Good Morning,
My workout this morning was RWH Low Impact HiiT. I have several appointments today and I need to pick up the turkey that I ordered. I should be able to get in a good workout tomorrow, but I'm not sure how the rest of the week will go. It's very difficult with a house full of people.

Deb, don't be impressed with grinding wheat-my grain mill is electric. I pour in the wheat kernels, turn it on, and it comes out as flour! It all started with the Vitamix purchase about 4 years ago. I don't bake bread often anymore since I don't want to eat much of it.

Caitlin, you will like having the heavier dumbbell. I have up to 30 pounds, but I have never used the 30s. I will sometimes use one 25 for pullovers.

Diane Sue, great family celebration day. I agree with you about injuries and needing to rest. I try to judge how I feel and not do anything to aggravate my knees and shoulders. Regular stretching is helpful.

Hello to everyone. Enjoy your day.

I did a spin yesterday, Ride. the one from X-train series. I like the music better than Pedal Power, but I get tired of any sound track if I hear it too often. It's around 50-55 minutes but as usual, my cycle computer doesn't work well. it takes a long time to get my heart rate to register ... took 10-15 min.... until it does, it doesn't start counting calorie burn. so I get garbage stats. I have one more cathe spin, the first one, but I think the song times and countdown don't appear, and that helps a lot with spin workouts.

Deb I was just wondering .... nothing specific in mind. specialists might assume screening labs were done by the primary care and don't order them. Since this problem came up suddenly, and it's almost a year since last labs, maybe they could order just to make sure nothing is showing up abnormal? It's just a blood draw and insurance probably will cover.

Carolyn, I'll bet fresh wheat flour makes bread taste wonderful. I don't eat enough bread anymore to be worth making my own. I used to when DH and I had sandwiches for lunch most days. from the laurels kitchen bread book! even then I didn't grind my own but there was a local company that had fresh flour I used to buy.

we have all sizes up to 30 pound dumbbells. I am not sure if we ever bought 35's. I've used the 30's a few times but mostly max out with 25's.

I did my workout a bit later this morning. I do not care for doing that, but I had so many tasks staring at me when I got up this morning that I did them so I would not finish the workout and come downstairs to all of it since I had to go do banking. post office stuff. Anyway, before the workout I got a pot of soup set up in the crockpot, framed and hung new pictures of grandchildren, and wrapped presents for Christmas that were sitting on the table. Then I had to search for my dvd remote for my workout. I thought about it for a bit and realized my 2 year old grandson that was helping pick up probably put it where he would think the obvious place for it should be. I looked and he had put it with my husband's remotes downstairs. :) I did Ice Metabolic Meltdown 45 minutes, 265 calories and followed it with Ice Rock'm Sock'm timesaver 5 gone, 35 minutes, 220 calories. Total time was 80 minutes, 485 calories. I went fairly light on Metabolic Meltdown. Normally I go heavier but not this time.
I saw on Kelly Coffey's site that it looks like she is selling the new dvds. I wonder if they are out now?

Deb, it sounds like your home is going to be like new again and all organized. Nice that you got things put away before Thanksgiving. You would think that if the medicine coats the stomach it would help if that is where the problem is. I hope it helps. Did the doctor say it would take time? I was going to get a turkey breast to go along with the 22 # turkey I bought but my daughter in law said they would bring a ham so I decided not to do that. What we have should be enough for the whole family.

Carolyn, my grandmother used to buy the wheat and put it in a grinding attachment on her Kitchenaid mixer. I have thought about purchasing one for my Kitchenaid . I hope my turkey thaws before thanksgiving. I put it in the garage refrigerator on Saturday. It still feels frozen solid. I had that happen last year and was at the last trying to give it water baths. I am the same way with making bread. If I make it I will want to eat it. I used to make it all of the time when my children were growing up.

Valerie, yes, Cycle Max is not set up as well as Ride and Pedal Power so I do those two more. I did order the new one with the Strong and Sweaty Series. The Spin Stats would bother me too. I need those things for motivation to keep going. My dumbbells go up to 25's and I have two dumbbell bars that I can load with weight plates for higher increments and also my Bowflex Select Tech goes up to 52# each dumbbell. If I am doing things that require a lot of changes I can grab a pair of 31# kettlebells for some work. I have pairs in most of my kettlebells. I have one 35# kettlebell though.

I hope that all you wonderful ladies are doing well. I did a very long work out. Thank you all for asking about Frank. He can ride his exercise bike. I got to use my twenty pound dumbbells today. My doctor told me never to put a barbell on my upper back so I use dumbells now. After my legs, I did Party Rock in Step on an 8 inch height. It was hard but it is so much fun that I finished it.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I went for a 2 mile walk with my MIL and her friend. Was chilly here this morning but still better than the snow we received at home! I then did a Country Heat workout using my 1.5 ankle weights and 1lb hand weights. This is all I had time for because wveryone was up having breakfast so I did not want to miss out on great family time. Yesterday I ended up doing JS 15 minute fat blaster I think it is called also using my ankle and hand weights. I then did a SB lower body sculpting then finished off with a bridge target. Not what I intended but ending up have a great workout.

Today we went to see Hacksaw Ridge. Wow what an intense movie and very graphic. More so than Saving Private Ryan. We all really enjoyed it and thought it was a great story. We are watching something light tonight.

Carolyn...I really like SB's Barre Amped stretch dvd. Wish I remembered to bring it with me. I go up to 40 lbs with dumbbells and they are used for leg workouts only. No lifting these above my shoulders.

Caitlin...great job on Party Rocking Step. I have two left feel and would never think of doing either of the Party Rocking ones!

Diane Sue..on weekens I need to get my workout done early or I tend not to do it. I am going to check KCM's website. I am thinking Cathe's will ship mid to late December. Seems like she is moving along with them.

Deb...we are in Navarre, FL...40 minutes from Pensacola. Absolutely beautiful here. We love visiting. My inlaws decorated for Christmas for us so we can see the house. Bob has never been here at Christmas time. They have lived in Florida for about 20 years now. Was such a nice surprise!

Valerie...the first time I did Ride I loved it...but boy it was close to an hour and that was hard for me. I do not spin very often but when I do usually 30 to 40 minutes is plenty for me.

Have a great night all!

Lorie, nice job on the workouts. That is nice that you mother in law went for a walk with you. Family time is so nice. That is great that they decorated for your visit. One of my daughter's always has her house all decorated top to bottom around Thanksgiving. She usually does Christmas. He home is more of a country home and great for Christmas. Lots of room too. I keep meaning to go look at Kelly's facebook and see if she has said anything. The beaches are so pretty in that area. My brothers both lived in Pensicola when going to college. I went out there for one of there weddings. We did a lot of sight seeing and driving. My husband and I went to Epcott center once and rented a yacht cruise in the gulf. We rented a car and did a lot of sight seeing.

Caitlin, I used to lift 85# overhead at one time. I got caught under the barbell once though with no rack and no spotter. It was hard getting it off and afterward I was a bit afraid of going that heavy again. I use a barbell but not near that heavy anymore and most of the time I prefer touse just dumbbells.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, I did get a lot of stuff done around the house, the living room back together except for the bookshelves. I worked for a while at my cousins, then met my friend for lunch.

Carolyn, do you have people staying at your house this week as well? What is the reasoning behind making your flour rather than purchasing already made? Is it healthier in some way?

Valerie, good that the new series has a spin workout, so you can have some more variety. Maybe you are right and I should get a current blood draw to see if all is still ok. I would have to ask for that from my regular GP.

Diane Sue, how cute that your grandson put the remote where he thought it should be. Good you thought to look there...:). The DR said to try this for 2 weeks, so maybe it has some type of cumulative effect. I hope the KCM's have shipped. Did you purchase these?

Caitlin, great workout! Using the 30 pound DB's instead of a BB is a good idea.

Lori, how was the Country Heat workout? that is with Amber correct? That was so sweet that your in-laws decorated so you could see what it is like at Christmas. How is Gigi doing? I bet she misses you! You took Nilla with you right? Does she like it being the "only dog" for a while?

A workout, (I cancelled my monthly Live subscription and signed up for the yearly with the discount), then washing the slip covers from the couch...I did the chair and ottoman yesterday, and I think I will make the butternut squash for Thursday...

Take care,

Today I did ICE Metabolic Total Body. I no longer use a barbell for squats or lunges. My shoulder doesn't retract enough for me to do so. I use Dumbbells instead.

Deb, freshly milled wheat has the complete grain including bran and germ. It has more nutrients ( including B vitamins and vitamin E) and none of the additives in most commercial flours. King Arthur is the brand that I buy when I don't grind my own. I will have my three daughters, son-in-law, and two grandchildren staying here. My oldest arrives this afternoon, youngest tonight, and others tomorrow. It makes for a full house but I love it.

I have decided that I need to get a turkey breast in addition to the whole turkey so I am headed out again. We are not having a ham this year.

Hello to everyone.

I also need to do my groceries today. I try to get the refrigerator emptied down before, so there's room for bigger serving dishes. It's not a big production for us as it's cousin and wife who come here often, so a grand total of 4.... but I try to do many of the usual turkey day dishes even if I don't care for them myself. I am doing a turkey roast. hope it defrosts. I took it from freezer to frig on sunday and it still is hard as a rock. I am not a person who gets excited about shopping on Thursday or Friday and would rather drink kerosene than go to a mall then. our weather does not sound good...wet and windy... mostly hoping for no power out! that hasn't happened in a long time. I could probably finish the turkey in our camper oven but would be hard to get everything else hot and then we'd be eating in the dark.

No workout yesterday. had lunch with my friend, a long drive for me, back to her sons house, then a long wait post office stop, and the day was gone. will do something today for sure but later.

we're cleaning our basement and opened a box of records we've moved from house to house for decades. we are cleaning them and may buy a turntable. you can buy a current one for about $100. our old turntable was in there but was toast. about 110 albums and most in good condition. in original sleeves , few scratches etc. somehow I ended up with albums from previous roommates. if this doesn't work for us we can always sell them though I keep hearing vinyl is making a resurgence. incredible amount of production and detail used to go into records, I'd forgotten.

Flour has more flavor freshly ground. some of the supermarket stuff is on the shelf for months.

Today I did Party Rockin Step 2 Premix Extreme 8 combos + finished product, 61 minutes, 435 calories. I then did Ice Muscle Meltdown biceps 15 minutes, 70 calories. I used mostly 15's with a little of the 17.5's and some 12's. This is lower than I generally go on this but I was afraid I would find myself straining through the neck and shoulders so kept it down a bit. I finished with Barre Amped Stretch and Strength Power Stretch, 23 minutes, 61 calories. Total time was 99 minutes, 566 calories. I have been working on getting the house in order. I think I am making a chicken curry tomorrow when my daughter and family come for our weekly Wednesday dinner. I have lots of preparation to get done for Thursday. I went to Walmart yesterday which was a big mistake. Their veggies were pretty well gutted. I wanted some to chop up for munchies and to make salad. So today I had to go back to Sprouts. Walmart was terribly busy. School is out for a lot of children here and it was packed. Note to self, find somewhere else to shop till mid January when everyone has pretty much quit taking back their gifts.

Deb, hopefully the help comes from the medicine then. I did not order Kelly's new workouts yet. I want them and will get them eventually. I have my eye more on the one that has the different 15 minute workouts that can be put together right now. It would be perfect for me. The other has heavy bag work and I want it but I think it will be awhile before I start punching the heavy bag yet. There will be 16 of us for Thanksgiving dinner. When we lived 100 miles away some of the family came and stayed. WE had a much larger home and plenty of extra sleeping space then. Everyone is close here. Within 25 minutes from our house. I think I may have one or two grandchildren here this week just because they like to come and stay. My 16 year old granddaughter mentioned coming to spend the night one night during this holiday week. I already made her favorite soup to have ready.

Caitlin, I have never done double bench step but I do know what it is. I have done a workout that I have that uses two bosu's at the same time. I always used my high step as the second device because I was not going to buy another bosu for one workout. It takes a little work getting the footing down.

Valerie, I have a refrigerator in my garage. The only problem is it has a finicky thermostat. Sometimes it freezes stuff (when it wants to) and if we mess with the thermostat it may quit working at all for awhile. That happened once and our meat that was in the side by side thawed. We went out and bought a freezer. We use it mostly for drinks. This is the second year I have tried to thaw the turkey in that refrigerator. I put it out there Wednesday to thaw and checked today and it was hard as a rock and had ice chunks on the outside. I moved it into the house refrigerator so now it is taking up a lot of space. I should have remembered that from last year because I had to do the ice bath with it at the last minute. Anyway, having the second refrigerator does help with space. I just have to be careful of stuff like veggies that I do not want to find frozen or milk that might have got to warm. LOL on the rther drink kerosene. Some of the family used to go out to catch black Friday deals. It has never been worth the torture to me. People become evil when they are fighting to get the 2 or 3 big deals. I hate crowds. IT really is not a Christmas spirit thing to me. Besides that the name "black" Friday says it all. Who wants their day to be called that? Why not bright Friday or something? Usually when I made a turkey breast or turkey roast as a second turkey, I put it in the slow cooker. It could probably be transferred to the oven long enough to get a more brown to it. Our post office was a long wait yesterday. I looked for a machine and did not see it as I just wanted stamps. Then while I was in line I saw a guy get some at a machine, package, stamp everything something. It was something different than what I am used to. So, I got out of line and got stamps. I only got 10 because I was going to use the cash I had left, then discovered the machine only takes credit cards:rolleyes: I have cleaned a lot of our records. My granddaughter bought over her turntable one night and we listened to them while we played games. We have tons of 45's. My husband ordered a special box for them and paper sleeves and I think I have went through about half of them cleaning and putting them in sleeves. Like you we have carted them around for years.
