Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/18

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

Yesterday I did the upperbody 2x premix on Push-Pull (46 min.). I had a very restless night last night so I did not get up to exercise this morning, although I certainly could have used a workout given all the food.

Deb, I watched the dog show yesterday and wondered if you were also watching the second year of a wire fox terrier winning Best in Show. I always appreciate the show being on as an alternative to the football the men like to watch.

Anybody doing shopping today? I couldn't go to a mall if they paid me. I tried this once a couple years ago with my younger son and I didn't buy a thing. I just don't like shopping under such stressful conditions.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.

Lynda, how did the pumpkin crunch pudding turn out? If it was good could you share where you got it? DH and I cut up a hubbard squash wed and I have an incredible amount of squash to use.... the great big one... weighed around 75 lbs. it was perfectly ripe and is giving me WAY more squash than I've ever dealt with at one time. I cooked a bunch and froze it but still a ton left.

I did S&G again yesterday, and this time got all the mountain climber moves. those are always hard for me but if I do them regularly I get better and remember to breathe often enough.

I agree, no WAY am I going near a shopping mall today. I got a call from Costco saying the tires we ordered are in but no wa will I go anywhere near today. I'm tired of the holliday shopping push already. DH and I may buy a folding kayak for ourselves and call it done. we are strongly considering nicer bicycles but will wait for spring. our momentum for cycling is less with all the rain.

We had a good dinner and visit with our cousin & his wife. Everyone else have a pleasant holiday?

Hi,

Glad to see everyone "survived" the big eating fest. I still have to put away stuff and get the living room back to normal but can do that a little at at time.

Joan, thanks for your user ID..glad you are feeling better.

Garance, no shopping for me either...I hate shopping during normal times, let alone with it is crazy out there. We watched the final part of the show on DH's iPad after everyone went home last night. Here is a link to Diane's site showing Sky...she was Keegan's breeder and is a co-owner of Sky... AfterAll Painting the Sky.

Valerie, I love squash but not sure what I would do with that quantity of it! Good job on S&G!

Got my hair cut today by someone different, and really like it a lot. How do you stop going to the person that has been doing your hair for 20 years? I don't like how she been cutting my hair lately, have given her many chances, but it never comes out the way I want it to....I really like her and she is a great person. It's a real dilemma for me.

Anyway, off to do more stuff around here...later...

No shopping for me either.

Deb I have no idea how to do it but I would change if you love your hair. Just make the appt., maybe she won't ask. My hairdresser usually does a great job but when I came in last time I complained that it had grown so fast that she really scalped me.

I'm glad I went to the gym today. I measured and weighed because I had finished the 24 sessions. I have signed up for 48 this time. Only 5lb lost in about 12 weeks but it was the day after Thanksgiving. About 2 inches off the waist and hips. If I would only get serious in my eating I know I would do better. Trainer keeps harping on quality of food.

Joan.... 5 lbs plus a lot of workouts will be noticeable, congrats and keep it up. 2" is at least a size down! this is a hard time of year, with all the extra food that gets passed around. I keep stocked with good stuff and minimize junk/goodies so it's not looking at me from the cabinet or frig. and I make sure I don't let myself get too hungry.

did GS chest triceps yesterday. stayed with previous weight levels which I had just increased. I was a little sore today. today we loaded,, unloaded, and stacked a couple cords of wood. it was a LOT of work. tomorrow a bike ride as soon as it warms up a little. It's been a while now, and the bicycle pressure points will get sore for sure.

Deb,I have used lots of squash before but this is so much I've run out of freezer containers to store any more. it will keep fine in the frig for a week or two. so if anyone has a favorite squash recipe, please, I can use it.
Deb is it a different person at the same salon? if so, that's tricky. if it's a different salon maybe you could alternate once or twice to see if the old person can pick on up what the new one does better.
