Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/14

This morning I did Live Cardio Core Circuit and that is not an easy workout. And of course being the evil person she is, Cathe put burpees in the last set of cardio. I will freely admit to doing the burpees without the jumps! The core in that one is all weighted using one 10 lg and one where you use one heavier weight.

Judy great job with the upper body workout and Peloton climb ride!

Diane Sue hopefully your doctor will be able to give you more helpful info that you have so far. Given that Cathe's new series will have 12 workouts and pre-orders won't be until early next year, I really doubt we will actually get the workouts till late spring at best. Given that she's still figuring out what exactly she wants to do that seems a realistic time line. And yeah appliances are a PITA. We had that recent dryer repair, so far dishwasher and stove are okay, though I would love a reason to get a new stove. The fridge was original to the house in '94, but hanging on still though it sure doesn't look pretty. But, new ones won't last anywhere near that long! Great job with the X Train Ride!

Valerie safe travels and hopefully no mice when you get to MT. Great job with the ride workout!

Carolyn great job with Cardio Step Jam!

did x train bis and tris completely today and increased weights over previous. also did all my therapy exercises and stretches. ends up taking a fair amount of time but not hard.

appliance repair used to be a a decent business. now its so expensive that if you cant do it yourself, its probably not worth the money. I have bad luck with DW's and vacuums. try to get a vacuum fixed.... i have a stove from about 1990. still works fine but the finish is rusty. the ice maker died so we moved it to the garage and bought a new one for the kitchen. winters aren't cold enough to cause issues with a fridge in an unheated garage.

Hi Everyone,

I received a message from Lori and she asked me to update you all on what has been going on with Bob since she last posted. He has been in the hospital since October 10 and is on the liver and kidney transplant list and surgery for both and the surgery could be in as soon as 2 weeks. It is critical that he gets this surgery or he will not survive. Please keep them in your prayers.
Also, she said she thinks about this group all the time and she will be back someday.

Today I did ICE Boot Camp Circuit for 47 minutes and 252 calories burned. My average heart rate was 119 and maximum heart rate was 150. I went to the grocery store after my workout to pick up more items needed for Thanksgiving. Middle daughter and her family will be here on Tuesday.

Judy, I just saw your message from Lori. I am so sorry to hear the news and will definitely keep them in my prayers. She and Bob have been on my mind a lot since she told us that he was having medical issues. Thank you so much for letting us know.

Hello to Valerie, Cathy, and Diane Sue.

Oh my Lori ….that is stunning news. Wishing my best wishes to you and Bob on this challenging path. Hoping all goes smoothly and well for him. Hugs to you and your family.
Are there local support groups for potential transplant patients?? Even something online?
the whole process is complex and I hope you can connect with people to guide you along. Please stop in anytime if you want to chat or just vent. I can’t imagine how difficult a time this is.
Judy thank you for letting us knows

we are driving today with good weather and good roads about 2/3 of the way.

Yesterday I did the Pyramid Combo from the Intensity Series and today I did a 45 minute Peloton Power Zone Ride.

Carolyn-Great job with ICE Boot Camp Circuit.

Valerie-Nice job with x train bis and tris and your physical therapy work.

Cathy-Great job with Live Cardio Core Circuit. If it's anything like the DVD workout then I'm sure it's very challenging.

Diane Sue-Nice job with Xtrain Ride.

Today I did CDorner Basic step 33 minutes, 180 calories, heart rate 144/177. I Then did stretching for 32 minutes, some with Dr Jo that was exercises and stretching for hip pain. I don't know why, but last night I started having terrible spasms in my right hip flexor all the way to my knee. I stretched before bed and it was okay, till later and I had to stop and do some stretching in the work out, then went back for the last 5 minutes which I did on the floor. I felt good after the stretching and a tub soak. My husband and I went to take something to a UPS store and stopped at Petco and when we came back he was trying to fix our flag pole. I got up quick to help him and when I stepped off the bar stool my leg started in again only worse. I could not stand and it just got worse. I took Advil and got out ice and had a terrible time getting into the recliner as my leg did not want to bend. It finally let up, but is still sort of off. I am icing before I go to bed. I made a sling and wore it while doing step to keep my arm in place. No call yet from the orthopedic doctor. I had a missed call and called it back and it was not a working number. I think I will skip anything tomorrow. This morning I had in mind to do a short cardio and do some barre work. CDorner did a barre workout, but it looks like she is going to be doing some lateral raises and stuff with light dumbbells which in other circumstances would be nice.
I am going to go to bed, but read posts.

Praying for Lori and her husband and the surgeries.

Today I did Cardio Party and the Extended Stretch which was 50 minutes and 305 calories burned. My average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 163.

Judy, great job with Pyramid combo and the Peloton Power Zone ride.

Diane Sue, nice work with CDORNER Basic Step and the stretch.

Hello to Cathy and Valerie.

Yesterday was shopping so no workout, and I only had about 4 hours sleep, so anyway, Last night I was so tired, I went to bed at 8 and fell asleep pretty quick. Woke up at 4:30 with plenty of energy, so I ended up doing 30 Minute Kickbox and then I did some more rearranging since I was getting my stuff out of Derek's room, so he can use it for the week, did a load of laundry, dishes and was ready to head north around 7:30 and checked the road speeds and saw that about three hours north the roads had a bit of snow and speeds were slower, so I waited until 8. Got about 3/4 of the way to the Mackinac Bridge and got routed off the highway because of an accident. While the highway had been full speed up till then, lets say, the back roads weren't! Slushy, icy, and not in great condition even if they'd been clear. Managed about 40 mph. Then when I turned back towards the highway to get an entrance ramp, got behind a plow and we were down to 25 mph. About then my tire pressure light came on. I've played this game before up north. Sudden cold, bad roads and there they go. Stopped at the rest area by the ramp and they had all simultaneously decided to drop 6 lbs of pressure. About 30 miles farther and I got gas and air. Light was still on, but I knew it was probably because they were a bit overinflated. So, when I stopped just over the bridge, I checked and let a bit of air out of the front tires, and now they are all happy again. Not meeting up with Derek tonight, but I'll pick him up about 8:30 tomorrow. A bit ago got a message that they'd hit another deer, this time her husband was driving. Less damage to his Outback than her car which hit a deer a week ago Wednesday, and they aren't driving that right now. All I saw on my way up was four eagles, two pairs, which is always cool. Still no moose though.

Judy thanks for updating us about Lori's husband. What a very scary time for him. I hope that he's able to have surgery soon. Please tell her I'll be keeping them in my thoughts.

Carolyn great job with ICE Boot Camp Circuit and Cardio Party and the stretch!

Valerie great job with Xtrain bis and tris and increasing your weights! I hope the rest of your drive remained uneventful.

Diane Sue, great job with the CDorner Basic step and stretching, but dang that lousy about your leg. I hope it either straightens itself back around or you figure out how to make it better.

I did stacked upper yesterday and my therapy exercises. fair number of squats and lunges in there along with bridges and some other stretches. takes some time to go thru them all.

rest of the drive was uneventful and we spent yesterday recovering, doing house things and relaxing a little. today we will try to go hike somewhere tho it snowed last night so maybe not as much as we planned. no snow changed over night to some snow everywhere.

wow cathy another deer strike. I've read deer are a bigger hazard in the midwest than anywhere. we've had tire pressure sensors that were way too touchy. you cant tell if they are right or wrong . theres no way to drove slowly enough to avoid the deer risk. the area here has not had much snow yet ( it came and went a few weeks ago) so critters are mostly still up higher but it can change overnight. we will see this morning. deer are easier to see against the white background but sometimes they pop up out of the road side and challenge you for road rights.

ETA ....back from 3 hours of walking/hiking. snow was going away fast but it was just enough to make things slippery. we walked some flatter trails. roads are muddy and sloppy. right after entering the park I spotted a wolf. he was black and not far from the road. but moving away. the color showed up nicely. haven't seen a wolf in a long time. just a singleton not a whole pack. watched him for 5 minutes with binoculars. I love this place! also saw plenty of elk and a big herd of bighorns tho they were right down on the highway. saw lots of footprints while hiking but no critters. we will hike again tomorrow morning, then spend monday here dealing with the "mouse wrangler" people. we had a few get into the crawl space again and can't figure where they get in. will likely drive back on thursday. wed and friday traffic might be wretched, not on the interstate, but when we get near seattle. .

diane sue that is rough...when it rains it pours. hope you can get in to see orthopedics soon to see what's going on.

To day is a rest day for me. I did my usual weekend markets and now I plan to do a little more Thanksgiving prep. I like to do as much as possible ahead of time to avoid stress.

Diane Sue, I hope that your hip and leg are better.

Cathy, the same thing happens with our tire pressure when it turns cold. I hope that your drive home is uneventful.

Valerie great job with Stacked Sets Upper Body and therapy exercises.

Waving hello to Judy.

No workout yesterday or today. When my leg starts hurting their is a clicking in my hip when I walk. I am taking it easy for awhile. It lets up when I ice and keep my legs elevated. I took Advil once today. Shoulder is still the same, but tolerable as long as I do not use that arm too much. Yesterday I did all of my family and game day friends Christmas shopping online so I got that out of the way :D I sure hope that I hear from the surgeon soon. Also a week from Tuesday I see my primary doctor and am hoping to address some things that are going on with her. At this point I am doubting unless there is a miracle I will be able to do my upcoming mammogram. I need to get it though as I keep having some pain on the left. Not sure if it is how I am sleeping or what. Only at night. I think old age finally hit and I am going down hill or something so need to claw myself back out of all of this.

I would say.... do not skip the mammogram no matter how inconvenient. at worst, reschedule, but around here that would mean months of waiting.
In case you need some even minor intervention on your shoulder, it would be best to have mamm done now, which is why I would not put it off.
