Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/9

Good evening ladies!

This evening I did Live Blast, Barre and Bands. Love this workout.

Deb...I walk her in the mornings and Bob walks her in the afternoons. Makes sense since I wake up so early. Ruins my morning workouts though...but I am ok with it. Eventually when she is a little older our walks will be more athletic and I do not mind waiting. I would choose home made chicken soup over a workout anyday! :) Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping all goes well.

Lynda...well I guess I need to watch Suits! Two or three years since your SIL passed? I remember it so well. So very sad. The girl was convicted and serving time correct?

Diane Sue...I am envious you did that RWH workout! I need to do this tomorrow. I was doing really good with the XTrain rotation but slacked off due to my conference. I think there is an RWH and Xtrain rotation or something similar? I need to look this up I know I saw it somewhere.

Carolyn...I think you will like the Live Compound Giant Sets. It uses 8lbs throughout and such a great workout. The SB rebounder barre workout looks like a great workout in my book. Looking forward to her dvd.

Josie...you are in such great shape. A couple of days of food and drink is ok...you will be back at it in know time. GiGi is a cutie pie. We are loving her.

Caitlin...so hard living out of boxes. Amazing that you are getting a workout in!

Judy...we got married the same year. We celebrated our 9th in July. Hard to believe 9 years have gone by.is the presale up for KCM? I may order the 15 min ones. Thinking they will be great as add ons.

I am loving all the pictures of the new dvds. They all look great!

Hi to Valerie and good night all!

I have been looking at the pictures of the new workouts Cathe just filmed. I see a couple of moves I do not like. Plank weight work for one  Also I hate holding a barbell in front. It makes my arms and elbows ache.

Judy, when my youngest daughter got her first apartment she learned the hard way too. She thought the girl was best friends forever. She ended up having her brother put a deadbolt on her room till she got things settled and moved out on her own.

Josie, it would be easier to give up but they feed everyone else their lousy diet.

Caitlin, I have all of my Cathe dvds in a locking carry case except the ones that are a set in a larger holder. Most of my dvds are like this. I set it up when we moved and it was a nice way to have them all available to take places with me. I have the paper sleeves in gallon freezer bags by instructor if I want to look at them.

Thank you. I a
m on a tAblet and I do not like it. Yesterday I graduated to an 8 inch step an hour of step cardio.

We did a long hike yesterday. 7 hours. It was gorgeous out, freezing to start, but sunny and warm later on. no bugs, no flowers left . we didn't rush but at least 4 miles each way with a lot of elevation. day off workout today. we are expecting a rain/windstorm tonight that might end up in a power out situation, so I will check back in when I can.
didn't eat enough for dinner and woke up at 2 absolutely ravenous so ended up in the kitchen with a small slice of cheese and a few triscuits. didn't want to wake DH up.
diane sue that is hilarious. guess someone's spellchecker didn't work. you win.

Deb, hope procedure went well and wasn't too uncomfortable. will be good to find out what's going on so you can get some resolution.

Lynda, the casino is built on a part of the indian reservation. they have several patches of land in this area, including much achorage in commercial property areas, along the interstate and busy state highways, but they chose to site it in in the middle of our residential area. it has trashed the entire area. they demolished all the previous reservation housing and relocated their people, and stuck us with this monstrosity. unfortunately they are not good neighbors can do whatever they want. of course attempts were made to stop them, but we got nowhere. it has destroyed the area. the crime didn't start up immediately but after several years, it is a constant. when we left to hike yesterday morning there was an abandoned car parked in a weird spot on our road. we stopped, checked to make sure no one was sleeping in it, and reported it to 911. it was gone later in the day. no idea what went on there, but the house is for sale with no one living there, so it's anyone's guess. it is just constant!.

Most but not all of the crime happens during daytime. there has been drug paraphernalia, underwear, etc left all over. people camping in the trees between properties.

a rebounder sounds like fun.. I will take a look at the video.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Cardio and Weights (54 min.). Too much impact and Cathe seems to do everything very fast. Won't be doing this one again. She is relentless on this one. It dates back to 2014.

Deb, I hope your endoscopy went well and you are doing okay.

I spent the morning with my older son. We enjoy each other and I love hearing about his work, his schnauzers and his lady love. They are thinking about buying a home in Sacramento and renting their condo because they would like a backyard. Their condo is beautiful, but I can see how a yard would be nice with the dogs.

Valerie, that really sounds irritating. I can understand why you would like to have a second home that is more secluded. That is a great hike! We are planning on a hike tomorrow. The foliage here is just so beautiful and there are some wonderful trails.

Lori, I bet Gigi will grow to love those morning walks. I love the chocolate color.

Diane Sue, I will have to take a look at those pictures. I don't like those planks with triceps kickbacks. I really can only do 5 lbs. with them and I am more in a tripod than a plank. I also don't care for the barbell in front. I substitute dumbbells a lot of the time.

Judy, I remember when your DH had that flu last year. It seemed to last a long time and he went back to work too soon, if I remember correctly. The flu can really knock you out. A couple years ago there was a flu going around where people ended up coughing forever.

Josie, it sounds like you are still having worries about your mom, but I thought your brother was no longer doing the caretaking.(?)

Hi to Caitlin and Carolyn!

Today I did Ripped With Hiit Low Impact Hiit 2 and 1 combined, 49 minutes, 335 calories. I then did Low Impact Sweat Cardio 1 premix 28 minutes, 177 calories. I finished off with Barre Amped Advanced Stretch, 28 minutes, 65 minutes. Total time 1 hr 45 minutes and calories burned 577. My neck has been really hurting on the left side. I have an appointment with the doctor right after I substitute for my daughter's daycare. My daughter insisted that I go. She even called first thing this morning to make sure I had an appointment.

Judy, I hope that you and Chris enjoy his birthday together today. Time does fly by :)

Lorie, yes there is an Xtrain Ripped with Hiit rotation. I did one once that was the Low Impact Series with Ripped with Hiit. When I got Ripped with Hiit I had done Xtrain so much that I was a bit tired of it. I think the rotation was in the downloadable manual . Kelly does have her pre-sale up now. I haven't ordered yet though. I will get them eventually. I am glad to see Cathe has already finished filming.

Deb, you are in my thoughts and prayers today.

Caitlin, great job on the 8 inch step for cardio.

Valerie, I get busy and forget to eat half of the day. I eat too much in the evenings so I am never hungry at night. They have casinos here in Oklahoma on Indian reservation lands. The city my husband was working in had tribal homes and center right next to it. They put a casino up right on the other side of I35 from the city. People travel that from at least Wichita down to Dallas. This brought in drugs and some crime that would not have been so bad if it wasn't there. If it is like here they have their own tribal police. I would hate finding stuff that they left behind like that.

No workout today. I spent my morning trying to get a check endorsed by our mortgage lender. We have a payment for claim on homeowners insurance that includes the bank as a payee. This claim was paid in two parts so we already went through this a few weeks ago. We had to present all claim documents, provide ID, and wait for the bank to verify our mortgage (which they could not find) and we were finally able to get the endorsement. Today should have been very straight forward, but no! I had to go through much of the same! The person at the local bank was as frustrated as I was and she kept telling them that she already faxed what they were requesting. Anyway, I finally got it done after wasting too much time.

Diane Sue, I don't like the planks with weights either. I usually go to my knees for those kickbacks.

Lynda, it sounds like you have a great family weekend coming up.

Deb, I hope all is well with your appointment and you get some answers.

Hi to everyone.

Lynda, I have done the substitution of dumbbells instead of the barbell. I had to do that with Amy Bento's cradle side lunge because holding a 40# barbell like she was doing just hurt my arms and shoulders to much. I can tell age has made a difference. I used to do those with no problem. Sometimes when I am those plank kickback and renegade rows I have to take a break and have one knee on the floor. I know I am not getting as good of a workout but I get something out of it. Your mention of the foliage reminds me that I noticed the tree over our stand of community mailboxes is getting it's red berries all over it. Last year it just struck me with awe because they had turned very bright red and we had an ice storm. It glistened with all of that red. I contemplated going out and taking a picture of it.

Carolyn, I have seen the same thing happen to family members and friends around here when there was storm damage. Most of the time it was Bank of America.

The insurance adjuster told me that most of the large banks have a similar requirement for insurance payments.

I just saw on Cathe's facebook that there will be a premix for the slam workout with a low impact alternative that she will do in a pop up box when high impact is being used. That will be a great option.

Carolyn, it has been a few years and I am not surprised that there are more banks handling it that way. I thought it was probably a way to be sure that the money is used correctly. We had our roof replaced twice in one house and our fifth wheel was totaled in storms. I was glad my husband handled it.

Thanks for the comment about the 8 inch

Good evening ladies,

Today is a rest day. For some reason I am just tired. It is rainy here this afternoon so I am sure this doesn't help.

Deb...hope you are feeling well after your procedure today.

Valerie...nice long hike! Sometimes I wake up starving and cheese always hits the spot for me.

Dianne Sue...when I downloaded that video I never noticed the miss spell. Pretty funny. She has a 35 minute routine I plan to try out once my rebounder comes. She looks is reallt fit. Speaking of fit Cathe looks amazing in today's workouts. Her delts are popping. Hard not to notice in some of the moves. Thanks for the heads up on KCM presale. Going to check them out. I like that Cathe is adding in the modification box.

Caitlin...great workout! Been ages since I have done Kick Max...this one has the leg conditioning drills with the chair?

Lynda...so nice to be able to spend time with your son. I love when mine comes to visit. We always enjoy each others company. I have always preferred dumbbells over a barbell. Ended up giving mine to my son. Once I hurt my shoulder I never used it. I have no problems substituting.

Carolyn...how fustrating. Glad it all got done.

Judy...will you be buying any of the new KCM?

Hi to Josie!

Lori-I preordered both of the new KCM workouts. I really like the idea of the 15 minute workouts, like you said, they will be great for adding on.

Good morning,

I could not sleep so I am up so that I don't bother John by tossing & turning. The procedure went well. It took about 10 minutes, not counting the time to set up the IV etc. No discomfort at all. No hiatal hernia, he said all looked good, they did a biopsy which I will get the results from next week. He mentioned H. Pylori...I guess they test for that with the biopsy. We'll what comes from that.

Valerie, sounds like you had a great hike, but not a good night....up at 2:00 am....but if you have to eat...

Lynda, I will add your comments about that workout to my printout...thanks.

Carolyn, sometimes with big companies like banks and mortgage companies can be pretty frustrating.

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the new workouts, I don't like any plank moves, especially ones with weights involved. A pop up box to show low impact modifications is a great idea! I don't remember a workout with "slam" in the title....mmm..have to chect out the FB page I guess.

Lori, I think you are experiencing the "puppy exhaustion syndrome". You don't realize how much work they can be.

Using John's laptop...not working well....I can't wait until I can get my destop back!

Take care,

Quick check in. I am waiting for the children are picking up. They were worried about barn time but I have no idea how my daughter does the curriculum. I did Intensity timesaver step and low impact hiit, 48 minutes 360 calories. Dr appointment this afternoon. My lymph nodes are swollen and neck puffy on the left. It hurts.

The first wind/rain storm of the season is almost over. we are expecting a much bigger blow on Saturday. this first one wasn't bad. it is remnants of a typhoon so could be an unpleasant weekend. Power stayed on so far.

Deb, so far, so good. Lots of people have helicobacter, something like 50% , but I don't think it's known why it causes problems sometimes and not others. Hope this leads to resolution for you.
I predictably need to pee in the middle of the night, and it's developed into an hour reading or doing puzzles before I can go back to sleep. I can't remember sleeping through an entire night.

I also like the idea of a modification box. some of cathe's moves are too intense but I'd rather do a half way measure than skip entirely, and I don't always come up with my own modification.
we have two barbells, both easy curl bars. the angled handle makes it easier to grip , just like the name suggests. the way my hands and arms are put together, it's very hard to keep dumbbells level. the easy curl is much easier to grip and the angle is better. DH loads them up with plates though and it's a lot of work to unload them, so I've been using dumbbells more of the time.

ETA weather got worse instead of better. lost a couple trees and a big chunk of our neighbors fence. lost our roof TV antenna, bent the pole in half. it's supposed to get worse Saturday. the main issue is the trees still have their leaves. but amazingly, still have power.

too funny Lori ... puppy exhaustion syndrome...shall we call it PES?

Hi Ladies,

I went to bodypump yesterday and I'm getting ready to go for a run in about an hour. I'm a bit bored with my workout routine, so I bought a Groupon for a place called Yogaworks were they offer TRX, bodyworks (resistance and bodyweight workout) and yoga. Karina will still be training us on Tuesday's and Thursdays. My cardio will continue to be spinning and running on the days that I don't do weight training.

Lynda, my parents had a talk with my DB and they were suppose to work things out, but he is still not doing a good job. My hands are tied, because DM wants him there :(.

Deb, I'm glad that you did not have any discomfort. I hope that the results are good.

Diane Sue, hope that you feel better.

I will be back later.

Josie

Today I did All Out Low Impact HiiT. I had planned to add something for abs but changed my mind. I'm glad to know that Cathe will have a visual for modifications on some of the workouts. I agree with you Valerie about wanting to do some version of a move instead of skipping it.

Josie, the Yogaworks studio sounds like just the thing for changing up your routine.

Deb, I have not heard of H. Pylori--is that a type of bacteria?

Lori, it's not surprising that you feel tired. With all that you have been doing and now a new "baby" you are entitled to a rest.

Diane Sue, I just remembered that this is your very busy day. I hope you feel better.

Hello to Lynda, Judy, and Caitlin.
