Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/3

I agree Carolyn. I want what I'm spending calories on worth it in taste and nutrition. I never had enough leeway in my diet to eat junk without putting on weight instantly, so never got in the fast food habit. I never understood the fixation on french fries and burgers. I never liked either much. whenever we travel or go on day trips, we carry a food box with us. water, popcorn, fruit, and bars, nuts. we always take sandwiches, fruit and vegies on long trips. maybe there are some fast food choices that taste good and aren't calorie bombs, but I don't know what they are, and most places we go dont have a lot of ff places anyway.

yesterday I did x train bi's and tris, and core 1. about an hour. this morning we went on a hike, 3 hours. extremely messy and difficult. its wet here now, and rain and snow made it a mud fest. a very poor unmaintained "route". no way is it an actual trail. steep and slippery but its short and the views at the top are great. time to switch to winter gear. nothing is slipperier than melting snow on mud.

Judy, I am not doing as well as you, I need correction for driving, but every year my prescription is less correction. I wear contacts most of the time, unless I'm reading or doing other close work. then much easier without lenses. I have multiple pairs of glasses from over the years and store them for emergencies but never wear them. I'm doing similar arm work, mainly bicep and tricep using cathe's exercise bands with handles and push ups. I didnt buy the latest bands.

Quick check in since it’s bedtime. Yesterday I did ICE low Impact Sweat 2. Had planned to do more but I’m watching the neighbors dogs for a couple days, and I had to go over and get instructions. We hadn’t talked in person since before COVID, and I was there talking to him for so long, I ran out of time. Two goldens, one is older and mostly just lays around. The other is only a couple years old and wants to walk me everywhere by my sleeve! Today was shopping so no workout.

It is late and I have need to go to bed, but thought I would post. I almost forgot about posting. Today I did CDorner Tabata Workout to the Beat, no equipment. This was not the one that she had originally announced for today On her website. It was okay, but there was impact and it was not all standing unless you followed doing the modifications. I did modifications, but at a higher intensity than suggested. Yoga Mama was doing the modifications through all but one segment. This was 38 minutes, 20/10, heart rate 155/181, 255 calories, 4,115 steps. It did have pretty good music. I also did Boss Bands Total Body, doing the lower body standing work and warm up and ending with the stretch, 27 minutes, heart rate 102/137, 82 calories. 427 steps. I also did foam rolling and used my therapy balls. Total workout time was 65 minutes not counting rolling, 337 calories, 4,452 steps. I got a late start this morning and lots to do to catch up around here since yesterday was shopping.
I did an hour cardio yesterday before I went to Walmart. That took longer than anticipated and it hurt my arm to push the heavy cart. I don't know why they were so low on fruit. I wanted grapes and they only had the large seeded grapes. So, no fruit other than some blueberries. I see I may be trying another Whole Foods order.

Good morning. Today I did RWH Lower Body Circuit, scrambled express premix. That was 34 minutes and 188 calories burned. My average heart rate was 122 and maximum heart rate was 169.

Valerie, nice job with XTrain Bis and Tris+Core and the 3 hour hike yesterday. Cathe’s new fabric bands are very different from the latex bands and they seem to work the muscles differently. I need to replace my resistance band with the handles now.

Cathy, great job with Low Impact Sweat 2. That’s nice of you to watch your neighbor’s dogs for him.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Tabata and Boss Bands Total Body. I haven’t run into any shortages when grocery shopping so far and I hope that it continues.

Hello to Judy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

I bought the set of cathe's resistance tubing and split it with two bands for each house. I had two other older bands, one that was too easy and one too hard. at this point I feel I have enough equipment and workout dvds and probably wont buy more. I could change my mind but not now.

we did a road ride this morning 2 hrs 10 min 25 miles. way colder than the last time we rode when it was quite warm, 80 degrees. 40 ish when we started. amazing how much more clothing is needed.

we briefly had a toilet paper shortage, but cleared up quickly. DH likes Luna bars and they were out of them in most flavors this week, but thats not too big a deal. probably taking tomorrow off as I'm getting the covid booster later today and am allowing for not feeling great tomorrow.

Yesterday I went to the gym with Chris and did a total body workout. It was about 45 minutes long. I had some errands to run today and am planning on doing a Peloton ride tonight.

Carolyn-Great job with RWH Lower Body Circuit.

Valerie-Nice ride today. We also had a brief toilet paper shortage here but now every store is well stocked. There seem to be some other random shortages here though. Lots of empty shelves in grocery stores and our CVS seems to be having issues getting stock in.

Diane Sue-Nice job with the CDorner workout and Boss Bands Total Body.

Cathy-Nice job with ICE low Impact Sweat 2. That's a fun one.

Today I did CDorner Step Aerobic Intervals with Cardio Kickboxing Mashup doing my own upper moves instead of punches. For the really fast punch section I just did football runs. This was 45 minutes, heart rate 142/189, 262 calories, 3,542 steps. I also did CDorner Mobility for Tight Muscles and the Neck and Back mobility, 59 minutes, 77/101 heart rate, 86 calories, 366 steps. Total time was 1 hour 44 minutes, 3,908 steps.

definitely a day off today. I got both covid and flu, one in each arm. wasn't going to do it that way, but they were very busy with shots and I didn't want to go back next week into the line for flu shot so got them both. that, plus a pretty intense ride yesterday after not road riding in 6 weeks,, the tough hike the day before, ... there isn't anything not sore! did not get any other issues from vaccines but overall achiness. I need a day off anyway.

ETA this post is out of order but whatever! Cathy... every golden I have met is an eating machine. sort of like labs! gets eaten even if its not food.... like clothing, drapery, trash.
I am moving around better than earlier but still very tired today. DH is just back from shopping and is exasperated. he tries to buy hardware things at Lowes or HD but again, thwarted.... shelves are empty. he came home and ordered the things he needed from amazon. how come amazon has everything and Lowes cant get anything? is this really a supply chain problem?? I can live with the demise of department stores but hardware/home improvement? the Lowes people complain about not being able to get shelf stock but its endless.
think back a few years ... is amazon just buying up everything and there's nothing left for any other stores?

Yesterday I did the Fitness Tabata from To the Max and ICE To the Mat. Today was Boxing Hiit Express and Live Upper Body Pump. Neighbors are due back anytime. Doggy sitting went well, though I had to work around rain a few times. Two Goldens and one is older and mainly just lays around, though he inhales his food as fast as ever. The other is somewhere around two I think, and likes to lead people around by their clothing. He said no matter what he's tried, he can't break her of the habit. LOL It's the first time I've done it in a very long time, as they hadn't traveled without the dogs since COVID started and Derek had been doing it for them.

Valerie all that definitely warrants a day off! I hope your achiness is short lived.

When I shopped the other day there were lots of empty shelves at Whole Foods, and a fair bit at Meijer. Produce areas were fully stocked though. I got everything I wanted, but came home without a couple things DH had asked for.

Judy great job getting the total body workout in at the gym!

Carolyn great job with the RWH Lower Body workout!

Diane Sue great job with the CDorner workouts, and Boss Bands!

This morning I did Jessica Smith’s 30 Minute Fat Blaster for 30 minutes and 207 calories burned. Average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 154. I followed that with STS Extended Stretch for another 15 minutes and 30 calories. I like that stretch because it’s like a short yoga practice. I had my investment club meeting today then I made some oatmeal cookies with cranberries and white chocolate chips to satisfy my husband’s sweet tooth. Most of them will go in the freezer so that we can take out a few at a time. Now I have a pot of black beans going for soup. This is a slow cooking day with no outside errands to run.

Judy, good for you getting in a total body workout at the gym. That’s great that you and Chris go to the gym together.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step Aerobics and Mobility workout.

Cathy, nice work with To The Max Fitness Tabatas and ICE To the Mat.

Valerie you definitely need a rest day today. I have an appointment on Tuesday for my booster and I plan to take it easy the next day.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did Cathe Pedal Power 61 minutes, 12.07 miles, 271 calories, heart rate 122/151. I decided maybe id I was tried to avoid overusing that shoulder maybe it would quit hurting so bad. I then did CDorner mobility hips and shoulders till it got to a down dog, plank sections and I stopped that one and did her Neck and Shoulders Stretch, 37 minutes, 69 calories. heart rate 85/114. No steps to report for the cycling. I used the indoor cycling and it only picked up around 300 steps.
