Good morning,

Off to a Anniversary breakfast, we opted for this instead of dinner. :D. One of our favorite meals to have out, so why not right?

Will check back later...

Hi again,

Lori, thanks, Had a nice breakfast, (ordered too much and ate too much of course!). How do you like the step workouts? It sounds like one is pretty dancy.

Lynda, did you go to the restaurant that has the specials with your DH's products?

Valerie, LOL on not knowing how many years you have been married...I do the same thing when someone asks, I have to stop and think, actually calculate it! They make fun of me, but after 25, it kind of blurs! :).

Judy, does Tiger take that Nutri stuff in the tube? If he drinks can you give him beef bullion or gravy? tuna fish juice? I keep thinking about him and hope it starts to turn around.

Hi to Josie,

I will be leaving for DC tomorrow very early, (5:40 am flight), and will be back Wednesday evening. If there is free WiFi in the hotel, I can check in.

Take care,

Deb, I've never been good remembering dates like that... usually the milestone ones like 10, 25 but the others I get muddled & need to calculate. get the date mixed up too and need to check. it's dec 20. we had a small JOP so not a big deal with dozens of invitations and a big ceremony. it always got kind of muddled in with xmas and never got a lot of emphasis. we always do something or buy ourselves something nice, but no one else remembers it. neither of us a big fans of restaurants so usually have a special dinner at home. I have never ( in recent history) found a restaurant where the food/atmosphere is good enough to get enthused about and mostly eating oat is a PITA to be "endured" or tolerated for me.

day off yesterday. did house things, reloaded camper, and dealt with stress with family. my sister is having big problems. she has huge medical problems and somehow is resistant to getting any social services involved. she should be retired on SS disability but it is delayed and delayed and denied once already. she is now not working, can't drive because of uncontrolled seizures and headaches. I do not see how she can get by long with no income . oh just too much to write about. I will talk to her later today.

Hi Ladies,

Happy anniversary Garance and Deb! I love going out to breakfast, I have always done it ever since my kids were little we would go out on Sunday mornings.

I took my grand kids to Knott's Berry Farm yesterday, so needless to say I was exhausted :)
Their mom brought them down from Fresno on Thursday. They will be leaving this afternoon.

Tomorrow is the viewing for my nephew and Tuesday is the funeral. It is going to tough on everyone.

Judy, sorry to hear that your cat is not doing well. Hope he gets better soon.

Hi to Lori and Valerie!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Rockout Knockout with 1 lb. gloves for the whole workout, which really improved the intensity. I think this is an excellent cardio workout and I really enjoy it. Lots of variety and 55 min. long. I think you could easily shorten it by leaving off the combos, but I like a longer workout on Sundays.

Deb, we went to a different restaurant last night. The chef only buys DH's chickens. Mezze--our usual place--has a new chef, and it will be interesting to see what kind of relationship he establishes with DH. He visited the farm before we left for the wedding and is enthused about all the heritage breeds of pig, but he is still a novice about doing his own butchering--breaking down the carcass into the cuts he wants. Have a safe trip to DC! (How did Keegan do on his agility trial?)

Our anniversary is easy to remember because it was 1980 and right before Columbus Day

Valerie, I always see those lawyers on TV who say they can get the disability claim done for people. I guess it must be very difficult to do on your own? Maybe she should hire a lawyer or find someone in elder services in her area to work out a plan for care? I'm sure it's very hard for you to deal with at long distance.

Judy, send us some of that weather! Hope Tiger feels better soon.

Hi to Lori! (Go Red Sox!!!!!!)

Hi Everyone,

Deb-I've been trying to give him the nutracal that comes in a tube. It's really a struggle to get it into him though. He will drink liquids so I've been giving him "Catsip", a milk product from Petsmart, juice from canned, low sodium tuna, and gravy from canned cat foods. We've also been giving him a little yogurt a couple of times a day. Sometimes he seems like he feels a little better, but he still isn't getting enough nutrition. I'm going to call the vet again tomorrow and see if they have anything they can give to stimulate his appetite.

Josie-so sorry for what you and your family are going through :( Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Lynda- I wish I could share this weather! Another really nice one today, sunny and 70.

I did a little over 3 miles outside, running and walking, this afternoon. Looks like we might get another 2 days of good weather.

Hi to Lori and Valerie!

Judy

Lynda she does have a lawyer, the small firm that handled my brother's disability situation several years ago. she was denied once and apparently overcoming the denial takes longer. I don't know how the system works and it's in another state. I talked to her briefly this morning and will talk more this afternoon. there's been a lot of press lately about abuses "in the system" at least in this state, so maybe that is the problem there.

Josie, so sorry ... funerals are difficult.... always.

so I'm hearing most about Rockout Knockout and Flextrain? still not sure I need any more workouts but who knows ?

Good evening ladies!

Well I ended up doing x10 yesterday in it's entirety and WOW! Completely kick my butt. The plan was to do ch,sh,bk after but no way. I was spent! I loved it but will use it more as shorter workouts in the future. I still managed to take chester for a 4 mile walk afterwards which to me was incredible that I had energy to do this.

Today was a 40 minute heavy bag workout. Shoulder continues to feel great. I did not hit at 100% as I want to ease back into it without re-injuring. I was still very sweaty when done though!

Valerie...I also like RK and like Lynda use 1lb hand weights throughout. I like the bonus punching bag and I prefer to do this in place of the combos. The only thing I do not like in this workout is the double kicks. I feel awkward doing them...so I do single kicks keeping the same beat. This works well for me. Flex Train is a must have. Great overall workout! So sad about your sister. Hoping it is resolved soon and she gets some income coming in.

Josie...thinking of you during this difficult time.

Deb..I always eat to much when I go out for breakfast!! Good for you! How did Keegan do??

Judy...poor Tiger! I hope the Vet can recommend something to stimulate his appetite. My heart breaks for you. I would be a mess if one of my animals was sick. They are all my babies!

Have a great night ladies!

Just found out from my SIL that her credit card #was scammed in Tahoe just like ours. we didn't stay at the same place. they didn't have a rental car. they didn't fly and weren't at the airport. they only used it at the hotel mainly for ID because their daughter ( the bride) had already paid for the room.

I wish I knew more about how this works. ordinarily I use my cc for a lot of purchases when traveling but this trip we used it only twice. my SIL used theirs once, only for ID at the hotel. and not the same hotel!
I'm wondering... this seems like an EXTREME coincidence to me. I don't know if it's worth contacting someone and if so, who? the south lake Tahoe PD? Chamber of commerce? I know scamming is more prevalent in tourist areas but what are the chances that two parties attending only the same function ( where no cards were used) would get their numbers scammed? ??? I plan on contacting the few other people who attended and ask if they have had any issues. ours showed up right after we got home, SIL didn't find out until now because they don't use their card as often.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Lean Legs and Abs (48:33). I like this one, too. It's the right length for me, and doesn't use heavy weights and a lot of repetitions of squats and lunges.

Valerie, that does sound suspicious, especially if your SIL only used her card for ID at the hotel. I would notify the police and chamber of commerce. Perhaps tourists should be cautioned in some way if it turns out to be a common issue.

Lori, I have a feeling X10 is too much impact for me. I only did a cursory preview, but I remember thinking, ONCE AGAIN, why can't Cathe have a modifier on these high impact workouts???? I just read another piece on the AARP site about osteoarthritis that impact wears down cartilage. At my age, it's just stupid to do all that jumping. Great night for the Pats and Sox!!! Dh was watching the news conference for the Pats this morning and called me out to look at the sweater Brady was wearing, which definitely looked like something Gisele would pick out for him, and not a 'manly' choice. DH says who cares if Gisele is there for you at home.

Josie, thinking of you!

Judy, how's Tiger doing?

Deb, how does DC feel with the shutdown?

Good evening ladies!

This morning I ran 2.25 miles. Tonight was All Out Low Impact. Felt good to do low impact for a change.

Lynda...I completely understand about the high impact. There are times (like today) low is good. I feel her low impact moves are very intense and do not feel I am missing out by not doing high impact. I do love the higher but not everyday. Omg! The Pats game was insane! Glad I watched it to the end. My dh had fallen a sleep. He woke when he heard me screaming! I replayed the last 2 mins so he could watch. I missed his sweater today!!! I can only imagine!

Valerie...that is really strange that two people had cc theft. It may not be the hotel. There are so many ways to steal this info. I saw on the news that they have these devices that a person can walk up and stand next to you and have all your cc info recorded onto these devices without even touching you! It is insane. I would still make those calls that Lynda recommended though.

Happy travels Deb!

Josie...you have been in my thoughts and hope you are holding up well.

Judy...hoping Tiger is feeling better.

nothing was open today being a sort of holiday. I will call tomorrow. will start with chamber of co0mmerce. if we'd used cards in usual places I wouldn't be so concerned but I think it has to do with the hotels and whatever CC clearing house the numbers get sent to. my SIL only used the card for ID because their room was paid for, we had reservations made 3 months ahead. other than that, we used the card for the rent a car, and for one restaurant meal, neither of which my SIL did. everything was closed today. thanks for your input. if there's some sort of organized scam running the
COB may be able to get on it faster than anyone else since it will affect business.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did 20 minutes of Core Max. I started to do Muscle Max, but I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't focus, with Tiger being sick. I ended up spending most of the day trying to get him to eat something. I called the vet and picked up a prescription to help increase his appetite. I started him on it today. He didn't eat anything until around 5 pm. DH got home and we did the subcutaneous fluids (2 person job), then I rode the spinning bike for 30 minutes to get some cardio in.

Lori-I have been a mess since Tiger got sick. He has been my best friend for 6 years and I am devastated :( Even though I know it isn't my fault, I keep trying to blame myself for feeding him the wrong foods or giving him too many treats. At his heaviest, he weighed almost 13 lbs, now he is down to 8.

Valerie-that is odd that 2 people had their cc data stolen. Hope you find out what happened.

Lynda- I agree about the jumping in the workouts. I really don't feel like doing that much impact at this point in my life.

Josie-thinking of you

Deb-hope you are having a nice time in DC.

Judy

I agree... I feel OK with running but do not feel OK with much jumping. I can get my heart rate up without that and prefer less impact.

I know about RFID but I don't think credit cards in the US use RFID (generally) technology, which is possible to pick up numbers by just passing by your wallet and getting the number if it's not blocked by a special metal type wall. think it's more common in Europe.
I know we are careful, and my SIL barely ever uses her CC at all! I strongly suspect that the service hotels use to process CC#'s is not secure. I will try to talk to the chamber of commerce tomorrow and will take a lead from them as to whom to call next. most people use their cards everywhere, but we have both parties involved using their cards minimally so maybe we can zero in on something specific.

Judy hope Tiger turns around... my previous kitty we adopted at 11. he was such a great little guy! so hard to tell age in cats except maybe tooth wear.... he was, as far as we know, about 17 when things didn't work out anymore for him. asthma. asthma meds caused diabetes. hope HOPE you have better luck.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Party Rockin' Step 2 (52 min.). I minimize the impact and completely change combo 6, which is all jumping. I just do swims. Cathe's cueing is a bit late here and there, but it won't matter if I do this one a couple more times.

Judy, you sound absolutely heartsick. I would be too if it were our Maxie.

Lori, the Red Sox were equally late in getting runs. I couldn't stay up, but I recorded the final innings and watched the next morning. Really exciting after so many shutout innings. Not sure I like all those beards, though, and Buchholz should wash his hair. Ugh! Looked so greasy.

Valerie, good luck on tracking down the problem. It does sound like it should be easier to detect when your SIL barely uses her card.

Hi to Josie and Deb!

Good afternoon ladies!

Decided to sleep in today...l feel this rotation really works the legs so after running and AOLI yesterday decided I did not need to run this morning. Tonight is Burn Sets Upper Body. Been ages since I did this one. Think I liked it so looking forward to it. Told my husband he should do this one with me and I believe he actually might! I will let you all know tomorrow. Hoping he does as I would love to do weight workouts with him.

Lynda ...the Sox Game was AWESOME too! I think the beards are all gross and wish they would shave! I thought the same thing with the cueing on PRS2. I liked it none the less.

Judy....I am sooooo sorry about Tiger and know what you are going thru. My heart breaks. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and they are our babies. Our Chihuahua is 13 and she has epilepsy and a thyroid issue. So far she has done really great but her age is against her now. I am a complete mess when she has a seizure. :( hugs and prayers coming your way.

Josie...hope you are well.

Valerie....Would love to hear what the outcome is from your phone calls. Hoping they take this seriously and do not brush you off. Let us know how you make out.

Hi to Deb!!!

Have a great afternoon!

Greetings from the "shut down" nation's capital.

Things are pretty quiet here. This past weekend is usually pretty busy since it's a school holiday and in the past there were always lots of schools taking trips here. The hotel is pretty empty as well, only about 30% full. I sure hope the nonsense ends by tomorrow.

Judy, sending good vibes your way for Tiger, hope the meds work to get him to eat.

Lynda, agree with you on impact and a modifier..that's why I liked KCM so much.

Valerie, hope you get some info on the CC scam. I bet it has something to do with the hotel too.

Hi to Lori, Josie,

I will be back tomorrow evening, take care

Not getting anywhere with the cc scam. because no "crime" was committed police won't do anything. I could file a fraud complaint. big deal. may try back with the COC who were sympathetic but did not sound like they'd do anything either. maybe this is just too common a problem? or my info isn't specific enough? it's true, I can't be sure where it happened. could have been one of 3 places but because of SIL getting hers swiped almost certainly at the hotel, I thought that might point toward some kind of involvement up the security chain. I keep thinking I was reading about hotels having to beef up their security because of security breeches "up the chain", beyond just the local hotel itself.
I am going to check with our CC company about the rfid issue but I'm pretty sure that in the US, cards don't have the chips that can be stolen without even taking your card out.

For anyone who's not totaled out on government shutdown news, I'm posting a link that I thought was an extremely interesting read and perspective. false equivalence. this has been happening obviously as this crisis drags on.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your kind thoughts and comments on Tiger. He ate a little food last night and this morning, but nothing all day. I pureed some renal formula cat food and syringe fed him tonight. He is wasting away to nothing, but he almost seems like he feels better today. He seemed more relaxed and was interacting a little more.

Valerie-it really sounds like the cc scam originated in the hotel, sorry you aren't getting help from the police.

Lori-I can understand how stressful it is when your dog has a seizure :(
Thanks again for your thoughts.
