Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 1/3

Sorry, I have not been on a much. Just so busy. Yesterday was dentist for my granddaughter and we waited in the car for 2 hours while she was inside. Then we had to get started on school and that was difficult. Changes and day one things were not working well and the reading classes on the Clever app was not set up yet. Then today we were bombarded this afternoon as they had library and then the ready portion started working and we have to make up 2 days of work. This did not go over well with my grandson. Still have catching up to do and we missed the 9 am zoom class both days for that app. I am already exhausted and we are just getting started. Need to head to bed soon.

Deb, the oven cleaner is Easy Off in a blue can that has a red label across the top that says safe for self-cleaning ovens. I have never had a problem with using it and still using the self cleaning once in awhile. The house is not super close to the turn pike. But easy for my husband to get to within maybe a mile and quick to work. For me it is the distance from my usual shopping and all of my doctors. I guess I would get used to it after awhile. Find new shopping areas. I am very familiar with the north part of the city areas. Not the south. It will have to adjust. W e will see how it all works out.

Valerie, I think we discussed that oven issue once before. I had one that did something odd, but I did turn it on the self cleaning, but it would not stop and was super hot and we could not unlock it. It was built in. My son had to come over as my husband was out of country. He did something with the front panel to get into the working parts. It was scary, but he got it unlocked and to stop. I cannot remember exactly what he had to do. Then we had someone come out and fix it. I think that is when I first started being afraid of the self cleaning ovens. I bought shrimp from Whole Foods yesterday that was on sale. I will only by the shelled cooked shrimp though. I would have liked scallops, but they were still very expensive.

Carolyn, nice work on Perfect 30 Perfect Pump. I do not enjoy looking at houses that much. After awhile different features from different houses start to meld in my head.

Cathy, the houses do seem to sell fast. One we looked at had been up for sale 4 days and my husband told me last night it already had a buyer. I have been out on some of those country roads when flooded across the road and two fields with flowing water trying to find a safe route quite a few times when carting grandchildren to schools. It is something I fear and really get stressed about when weather gets bad. It is not fun. I used to do that all of the time with books when I was younger. Now I take something to read to bed and get through half a page and I can't keep my eyes open. Nice work with KPC today.

wow cathy 6 times! fabulous. . I did it 3x and thought that was a lot. DH uses a few STS sequences regularly yet. I only did the upper body sections since we usually hike or ride, and that ends up too much leg work and too much time.
that is exactly the issue with the tower, the metal tubing is too big for me to get a proper grip. my roman chair the metal is less than half as big and that makes a huge difference. if I put a barbell across the supports, I could maybe use tower that way. I had roman chair forever. I can tie the giant rubber band on and leave it there, since DH doesn't use the chair.
skiing here is an issue most years. tends to be warm- ish and wet with snow affectionately described as "cascade concrete". the areas at the mt passes are totally crazy, crowded and hammered into awfulness. xc skiing is like hiking.... lovely when quiet and peaceful, completely obnoxious with hordes of people yapping and screaming and playing music. we take our chances with less good conditions in the forest. we enjoy quiet silent wilderness with fresh snow and animal tracks to look at. it is completely different.

Today I did Perfect 30 Low Impact HiiT for 30 minutes and 220 calories burned. My average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 152.

Have a great day everyone.

Today's workout Coffey Fit Raw Step 4, 30 minutes, 153 calories, heart rate 123/148, 3,086 steps. I then did Cathe Live 101 Step and Pump (only w/u and step skipping blast and weights) I have made note of this for this workout in the past for a shorter cardio. 27 minutes, 137 calories, heart rate 122/160, 2,621 steps. I then did Lite Extended stretch #1, 12 minutes, 11 calories, 5,7018 steps.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Lower Body Pyramids. I did a short Cathe warm up first as the warm up in the Raw workout isn't very long.

Carolyn-Nice job with Perfect 30 Low Impact HiiT. I have that on my list to again soon.

Diane Sue-Good job with Raw Step, Live Step & Pump and the Lite stretch. That sounds like a good combination.

Cathy-Nice job with KPC. I'm glad you are sleeping better.

Hi to Deb, Valerie & Lori

Valerie, I have not really had a problem with the bar on the Fit Tower, but lifting my Bowflex weights with the thicker handles or holding two dumbbells together hurts my joints in my hands. It takes time afterward for the discomfort to subside. I love it when there is fresh untouched snow. My husband took a picture on the land where he works of a deer in the snow and the trees were so pretty. They have a lot of wildlife around his work which is a large facility and land that is secured well. Skiing and the nature would be enjoyable. Not a lot of people though. I agree.

Carolyn, nice work with Perfect 30 Low Impact. I guess you are doing a Perfect 30 rotation? I contemplated that because of my time constraints ,but then I have the live workouts and Kelly and couldn't give them up.

Judy, great job on the Raw Pyramids. Those are good workouts. It seems Kelly is already warmed up for some of her workouts as she will mention she just did a run or something. I like a good warm up myself.
I am trying to keep track of the Live workouts that have a shorter cardio at the start separate from the strength so I can use them for just cardio. Shorter cardios are nice to make sure I am warmed up well for weight work.

Cathy, nice work getting STS 2 in. You must have worked your shoulders well Monday.

Today I did WS3 One Mile of Motivation for 15 minutes and 114 calories burned. My average heart rate was 133 and maximum heart rate was 152. Then I did Perfect 30 Flow Yoga Strength and Flexibility. That was 32 minutes and 97 calories burned.

Diane Sue, nice job with Raw Step 4 and CL Step and Pump. I’m glad that you seem to be getting back to your normal activity level. I’m doing the January rotation, a mix of Perfect 30 and Ripped with HiiT.

Judy, great job with Raw Lower Body Pyramids.

Cathy, nice work with STS disc 2.

Hello to Valerie, Deb, and Lori.

We vainly tried to ski this morning. did the drive and it looked beautiful but there was an awful thick rain crust on the snow. made it impossible to ski. we didn't even try to snowshoe. turned around and came home. we then loaded up mt bikes and rode tree farm for an hour and a half, so we got in a decent workout.

Caution ,.... political comments ahead. yesterday I did shopping and PO in the morning, got home and tuned on the TV to the horrid spectacle of washington DC under siege. yes, I know we don't discuss politics here. this is too awful to act like it didnt happen. the majority of blame lies at the feet of that disgusting treasonous monster who sits in the oval office right now, hopefully not for much longer. I contacted all our congressional representatives with my thoughts about encouraging aiding and abetting and egging on domestic terrorism. what in the world was wrong with the police force? did they actually not expect there to be significant demonstrations at minimum? does "charlottsville" mean nothing to them? they were outgunned and overwhelmed.
I went to work and took out my rage on the elliptical. did 30 min at seriously intense speed, then an ab workout, and then pull ups. what a terrible awful event at his egging on and encouraging after the endless lies about winning an election he lost. invoke the 25th or impeach him ...again! anything to get him out of there before he causes more destruction. a national and worldwide embarrassment!

Good morning. Today I did Perfect Pump Lower Body for 36 minutes and 213 calories burned. My average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 164.

Have a nice day everyone and keep up the good work.

Today I did Cathe Live #78 Power Step, 38 minutes, heart rate 123/161, 3,619 steps. This was a little tough on my right knee. I kept having to make sure my toe was pointed forward and I did not use full weight hopping or jumping on just that leg. Joints are not real happy today for some reason. I wanted to do weights, but will see tomorrow. I had to sit and encourage my grandson through zoom this morning, so once that was done I did Live Cardio Core Bootcamp # 306 which uses no weights. I had planned on doing just 3 of the 6 rounds, but ended up doing the whole workout. This is 45 minutes(me 47 as I wrote it down), heart rate 117/159, 197 calories, 2,768 steps. Total time 85 minutes, 385 calories, 6,387 steps.

Stretch

Carolyn, nice work on Perfect Pump Lower Body today.

Did STS Disk 3 Legs today. The leg workouts in Meso 1 always leave me with major DOMS, so I’m expecting tomorrow to be feeling it. Did the P30 Extended Stretch, too.

Didn’t get to this until pretty much bedtime. Hopefully, I can catch up tomorrow.

Did 25 on the treadmill, x Train abs , two sets of each, 25 knee pushups, 32 dips, 16 tricep push ups. Got the replacement sound system going in the gym. glad DH is better at this than I am. had to replace some wiring. Now it takes 4 remotes.... Great. Streaming finally works down there but not if he is using the Apple TV upstairs. They somehow block each other, but the upstairs one won't work downstairs if we try to use it, but two separate units one blocks the other.

we want to go to Montana next weekend if weather is ok. It’s a long drive in winter so will decide for sure as week progresses.

Did a 2 hr hike this morning in a nearby park. a lot of up and downhill to this one so its not just an easy stroll. it gets near the Sound and saw porpoises. I saw them multiple times, and finally got DH focused in so he saw them too. we got some new binoculars with image stabilization. he loves them but I don't think they add much. I got them for his birthday. he thinks they help a lot. it's always a problem when you stand and look at something distant, and your hands or arms don't hold steady, especially if you are breathing hard. I prop my elbows on my knees to stabilize so I don't see much difference.

I think we will go somewhere early tomorrow, so can someone else start the weekly thread?

Hello Ladies. I decided to take a rest day today. I didn’t feel like rushing through a workout before my meeting this morning. I am really feeling the the P 30 Lower Body from yesterday. Aside from that, I am mentally exhausted from all that is going on. I need to recharge and refocus my energy.

Valerie, that’s great that your sound system is working again. I hope that your trip plans work out.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Raw short segment Get Up and Move Cardio (4 min), Raw Intervals 3 that does not have a warm up so this was perfect, and Get Up and Move plank (4 min), This workout came out to 36 minutes, 161 calories, heart rate 120/157, 2315 steps. This uses 3# dumbbells and 10# dumbbells for each upper body part segment. I then did Kelly's Super Sculpt dvd workout #1 with the no jump step option, 35 minutes, using 3# dumbbells for the sculpting part, heart rate 130/162, 3,097 steps. Total time was 71 minutes, calories burned 348, 5,412 steps. Family Christmas tomorrow and birthdays. I will be busy with pumpkin pie, stuffing, and deviled eggs.

Carolyn, enjoy your rest day. I will probably have two next week as I have early morning appointments and school to get through. I need to figure out another option for school besides just trying to keep up the school tablet battery all day. My grandson accidentally spilled his water bottle on my secondary laptop that I use in the workout room. It won't turn on. It did twice and I had taken the battery off as it had wet in it. I was hoping I was just going to need to buy the battery.

Cathy, I think that we are all busy. Nice job getting your workouts in.

Valerie, I have 4 remotes in my workout room and am always grabbing the wrong one for the device I am using. Hope you can go on your trip next week.
