Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 09/11/2022

This morning I did ICE Chiseled Upper Body. That was 43 minutes with 200 calories burned. My average heart rate was 116 and maximum heart rate was 157.

Cathy, nice job with 4DS Bootcamp Cardio and Upper Body Pump. That sounds like quite a workout.

Valerie, great job with XTrain Bis and Tris and Core 1. I feel certain that you won’t give up on doing the activities that you enjoy so much. We all make adjustments and modifications for changes as we age. I feel so much better when I’m active, both physically and mentally. I have tried self checkout because I wanted to know how to do it, but it’s not my preference. I would rather wait in line if it’s not too long. Krogers is the only place that I shop that has self checkout.

Judy, great job with the 45 minute Peloton ride and Upper Body Circuit at the gym.

Hello to Diane Sue.

we were all set to mt bike this morning, bikes on the rack, dressed, heading for the door but heard the sound of raindrops. cloudy but not predicted. it rained for a bit, not significant but more than we wanted to ride through. so switched clothes and did a spin and a few sets of push ups in between. I need to break up the spin posture in the beginning. get off, hitch up my pants, do some stretches and two sets of 25 knee push ups, then got back on and finished it. pedal power 45 minutes. Judy, I read your post about 45 min peloton and decided it was spin season again.

we still have stores without a lot of self checkouts. costco did it few years ago, then closed them off. in the last year, they reset the area and re-opened self checkout. I heard they were losing a lot of merchandise on their first run with it, so they must have made some adjustments so product can't just walk out of the store. they have a lot of help in the self check area because a lot of items are big and best scanned with one of the hand units rather than sliding across the screen. and a lot of people buy liquor, beer and wine at costco and need ID check.

Bad morning here. I got to bed late and got woke up by my dog barking which rarely happens. I had to hurry and dress as there was a business truck in front and I could hear voices and saw they had rung the doorbell that goes through my phone which I do not take in the bedroom. It ended up being they wanted in our yard to mark lines. Then they kept coming back to the door as our plants are apparently in the way and they were telling me the electric company would have to pull out our bushes. I told them we like them how they are. Then another guy comes and said they could do it if they can trim the bushes. I told them if they trim it off the back of them next to electric box they can. The guy said something about more street lights and they needed to get in our yard that has the box and the neighbors. I hate that we have the community electric and cable box in our planter. I told them I want the hole filled back up this time because last time they kept denying it was them. My poor dog has tummy issues and I had to make her wait to go out in the yard.
I did get in a workout this afternoon and did CDorner Low Impact Cardio 42 minutes, heart rate 119/149, 4,629 steps. I also did most of her Neck and shoulder stretch, 20 minutes, 24 calories, heart rate 70/85.
66 minutes, 212 calories

I guess I forgot to check in yesterday. I did CDorner Kickboxing Hiit yesterday 42 minutes, 179 calories, 3,048 steps. I then did CDorner Mobility Stretch 24 minutes, 46 calories. The pain was still there yesterday and I needed this stretch. I also tried massaging out some of the painful areas and used my foam roller. I have a massage gun my husband got me after surgery. It really hurt the few times that I tried it as it felt more like something pounding on me. I used it on some of the areas that had a bit of padding on my upper back. It did help some.

Cathy, that cardio on 4 Day Split Bootcamp is tough. I never cared for it much as it was more of drills type workout. I do not care for those. Great job on the workout.

Carolyn, nice work with Ice Chiseled Upper Body. Sorry that you had a headache. The weather affects my allergies and can give me a headache. Allergies are at the top of high right now and I kept coughing last night and when I went outside multiple times this morning it just made the sneezing and stuff worse. Usually I get the allergy med down and I use Nasal Guard around my nose before I go outside and it helps ward off the worst of it.

Valerie, nice work with Pedal Power. Sprouts had just opened up a couple of self-checkout stations before we moved. Most people just stood in the lines that had a checker. It seemed like when someone went to self-checkout, they ended up with a worker having to help them out.

I don't want to sound like I love self checkout! I thought it was a great idea for a couple items and the line is carts so the wait is very long. diane sue it seems to take a few tries for self check to work well. my first times were slow but I'm better after a few runs. I notice bar codes more when I shop and plan ahead as things go into the cart. produce items that need weighing take a little time but most things have a bar code now.

off to do the mt bike we didn't do yesterday.

Today I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast for 48 minutes and 275 calories burned. My average heart rate was 122 and maximum heart rate was 149. I kept the cardio moves low impact.

Valerie, how disappointing to get ready to go riding and have to change plans because of weather. Good job switching to Pedal Power.

Diane Sue, nice job with the CDORNER workouts. I gave my daughter a massage gun for Christmas last year and she loves it. It does feel like pounding on some of the higher settings! I hope that yours helps with some of the tightness.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.

Back from the mt bike, our usual 95 minute one. always a good one. Carolyn, we pay close attention to the weather and do things when the time is right. it was misting a little today as we finished the ride. early was the best plan.

I will not be here to start the thread sunday, so would someone else please do it? we are heading to Montana early sunday morning.

Shopped yesterday. This morning I did My Finished Combo workout. I think I'm going to tweak it some and remove a couple things. Going to FaceTime Nick in a bit. It's his 24th birthday today.

Valerie nice job with the Xtrain Bi's, Tri's and Core. There aren't nearly as many male check out clerks. I've had a couple good ones at Whole Foods. One I only saw once, college age and hands down the most efficient bagger I've ever had. Quick, concise, nicely organized and filled them up. But the majority are woman. My Mother will not learn any new technology. The flip phone she rarely uses and never has turned on if she isn't using it, is the extent of it. I don't think she even knows how to pay with a card. My Dad on the other is pretty savvy for an 83 yo. Valerie sorry you weren't able to ride outside yesterday, but nice job with the spin workout and push ups. And that's great that you got in a good ride today.

Judy nice job with the Peloton ride and upper body at the gym.

Carolyn great job with Chiseled Upper Body.

Diane Sue nice job with the CDorner workouts. That sure sounds like a major pain for you having the workers needing to get in your yard so much.

Today I did Raw Back, 26 minutes, 66 calories, heart rate 92/115. I then did Raw Slimsculpt, 32 minutes(It says 24 minutes, but I wrote out the workout as I went through it) heart rate 107/137, 120 calories. I liked that she tried to make it safer on the low back with the seated move's and using the bench. My whole back has been achy lately. I usually do not have that happen. I finished with CDorner Foam rolling from today and just did 13 minutes of it as my shoulders and wrists were hurting holding myself off the floor for so long. This was 22 calories. Total time was 71 minutes, 208 calories.
I find it interesting how the Garmin picks up on things when you wear it to bed and monitor things like stress, sleep, etc.. I was surprised when I looked at it Tuesday evening after not sleeping the night before and hosting game day along with pain hitting. It had my body battery at 4 out of 100 and stress was high a major part of the day which is rare. Suggestion was that I needed to get more rest.

Carolyn, nice work on Ice Chiseled Lower Body. Thanks on the massage gun. When I was going through PT I was a bit worried about how it felt. I think it may be helpful now.

Valerie, glad that you got your ride in as planned today. I really do not enjoy going to the store so have not had much worry about self-checkout :) .

Cathy, happy birthday to Nick. Have a nice face time with him.

Yesterday I did a 1 hour Peloton ride and today I did a 45 minute Peloton ride then Raw Shoulder Limitations. It's so nice to have enough time to get workouts in.

Carolyn-Great job with ICE Chiseled Upper Body and Chiseled Lower Body Blast. There are some smaller stores here that don't have self checkouts but all of the larger ones seem to have them. Whole Foods and Plum Market just put them in last year. Fresh Thyme put them in a few months ago. CVS has had them for a year or so. I don't use them in CVS, as they never seem to work right and a cashier always has to come over to fix them anyway.

Diane Sue-Great job with the CDorner workouts and Raw Back. I really liked the shoulder limitations one. I'll do the arms and back ones this weekend. I have a massage gun too. I only use the lowest setting. The higher ones are a little too rough, especially on my shoulders and upper back.

Valerie-Great job on the bike ride! I can start the thread on Sunday. It definitely feels like spin season again here. I'm still hopeful that we will get out for a fall bike ride or two in October.

Cathy-Happy Birthday to Nick! Nice job with your combo workout. Home Depot has a few male cashiers, college students I assume. Still more women cashiers overall.

cathy I understand about the "not learning new technology". the newest thing does not always feel like the "best thing" but hard to work around if most adopt it. I liked it better when things were done for you, like groceries or travel details. went thru this again with my sister. she wants an appt for a hair cut but when she called, the person told her appts are done online. so she got into an argument with him. then calls me and asks me to do it! I ignored this one. she can call back when someone else answers the phone. nope, not doing every minor thing for her. I think that was bad customer service but she manages to piss off almost everyone she deals with. she has always been like this. I'm too close to the situation for objectivity. she sits there with a free smart phone, access paid, and only uses it to make one phone call a month so the agency doesn't hassle her about not using it. she is younger than I. she quit learning anything new around 1980. some people are better at new things than others , granted, but she won't even try. I quit tearing my hair out about it. she can sit in her pigsty of a house alienated from the world and wonder why. it's trying to teach a pig to sing.

Judy just do it! we go even if conditions aren't perfect so we don't miss the perfect times. being retired helps too. we do "something" regularly all year so we don't suffer thru "getting back in shape". it would seem like fitness would spread over all activites but for me, riding and hiking both need doing regularly or I get sore. we plan to go south during winter this year again to ride. Would like to avoid spending money in AZ since it's turned into a land of crazy people I don't want to support. will look for other options.

we have a massage tool with a load of attachments. its lovely for some things but better if someone uses the tool on you..

Today is a rest day for me. I went to the Farmer’s Market, Sprouts, and The Fresh Market this morning.

Valerie, it’s good that you were able to ride yesterday.

Cathy, nice job with your Finished Combos workout.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Back and Slim Sculpt.

Judy, great job with the Peloton rides and Raw Shoulder Limitations.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

I did 21 and Done this morning. One of the newer lives. It's an express upper body workout. She certainly can pack a lot into a short workout! I actually got 8 hours of sleep last night. Fingers crossed I can sleep tonight, too. The workout I did today was 34 minutes. I was sitting and playing on my phone and wanted to check something on my Fitbit app and realized I'd never stopped my workout. So it's shows as being 2 hours and 55 minutes. LOL

Diane Sue nice job with the Raw workouts and foam rolling.

Judy great job with the Peloton rides. The Whole Foods I go to hasn't done self checkouts yet. It's never that busy when I'm there and they usually only have a couple registers open, but I have no idea how busy they get later in the day.

Valerie my husband's job has dragged him kicking and screaming along the way with technology. Especially when they made his get a cell phone. If the least little thing happens with our computer, he immediately tells me, so I can deal with it. Same with printer. It's not like I have a clue how to fix things, I'm just more willing to mess with it and try. His lap screen died the other day, and then Thursday his monitor audio died, then it to went black. He spent time on the phone with tech support, and they actually sent someone out on Friday and got it working again. He's suspicious of everything and regularly declares that someone has hacked into our computer, which to date has never actually happened. I gave up trying to explain to him about wifi. LOL

Carolyn sounds like you made productive use of your rest day.
