Pentagenarians & Beyond: November 2, 2025

This morning I did Low Impact Sweat 2 and Live PHA Supersets on the Ball.

Valerie I had 13 years of baseball with port a potties and boys! I got very hardened to not pristine. LOL I find these day though that most gas stations rest rooms are quite good. I've been amazed sometimes in tiny towns out in nowhere with nice gas stations. I was surprised on my drive to and from my sisters, going through a lot of small towns, how many had Taco Bell's. I rarely ever need them, but I pass 3 exits with easy access TB's going to Marquette. Subways are even more prevalent. And you can get salads at Subway choosing from the stuff they have available for subs. On very rare occasions if I'm desperate I'll get hash browns somewhere.

Diane Sue I'm probably a bit too nice about the cats being in my space, but with a couple of them, it's better not to upset them. We have a walk in shower in the basement and at least 2 of them will go in it and lick up water when it's wet. But then, at least one will also jump in the bathtub to do that. LOL

I get enough exposure to port a potties on our regular bike trail. sitting right out in the sun. and also briefly on mountain passes for truckers chaining up. . oh my. Im not very "delicate" but they stretch tolerance. Do these people not care at all? if you can write your name in the snow, how come you cant hit that great big opening? DH wont use them and complains about "Men!". I agree most service station bathrooms are very nice. the TB's and Subways are not on the interstate exits we use. they are further in town or places we dont usually stop. We are all about efficiency. we pick places with easy on/off, decent bathrooms, and lots of gas pumps. there is a TB in Livingston right off our exit but we are about 20 min from home. not good timing.
i had not looked at TB menu in a long time.. it has a lot of good sounding things. i will remember for other trips. there is a subway in our first stop near Butte. they are not open early enough although the adjoining McD's is. so he gets an egg mcmuffin and i eat my apple. there used to be some things I would eat from McD's. used to be Wendys and Jack in the box. i guess theyre still around but not as visible as once.

our cat drinks out of the toilets or laps up water off the concrete. he has a bowl of fresh water. no clue why.

Today I did my usual yoga/mobility workout for 18 minutes. Saturday was my rest day and I caught up on some things around the house.

Judy, great job with Peloton Full Body Strength, Yin Yoga, walking on the walking pad, and Peloton Power Zone ride.

Diane Sue, great job with LMR Functional Mobility warm up and Low Impact cardio, Jessica Vallant Scoliosis workout, and CDorner Low Impact Cardio. The family photo shoot at the park sounds nice. I’m sure the fin picture will be something to treasure.

Cathy, great job with IMAX 4 combos plus blizzard blasts, Low Impact Sweat 2, and Live PHA Supersets on the Ball.

Valerie, great job with your mish mash of workouts.

I did a 35 min spin yesterday afternoon. this morning we did our usual park walk for 75 minutes. grocery shopping on the way home.

Yesterday I did a 45-minute Peloton ride. Today I went to the gym with my husband and did an upper body workout.

Carolyn-That is great news!

Cathy-Great job with Low Impact Sweat 2, Live PHA Supersets on the Ball and STS 2 Mat Yoga.

Valerie-Great job with the spin and park walk.

Hi to Diane Sue

Today I did KCM’s Power Splits, workout one, upper body. My time was 30 minutes, 95 calories burned, average heart rate 108, and maximum heart rate 133. I hadn’t planned to work out today because my husband had a dental appointment but we had to reschedule it at the last minute.

Valerie, nice job with the 35 minute spin and 75 minutes walking in the park.

Judy, nice job with the Peloton ride and Upper body workout at the gym.

Hello to Cathy and Diane Sue.

we did a mountain bike this morning, first since spring. it felt hard but we did it. 90 minutes. road riding is less fun with wind chill as it gets colder and the trail gets messy. this is more challenging than road riding, with the rougher surface and hills plus the bikes weigh 3x as much. it felt like a big victory today to ride it although it was just our normal trail. DH last rode in spring when his knee was becoming an issue. I've only ridden the mt bike around our neighborhood since then since i cant get the rack on the car mysel,f. . I was kind of nervous since its been a while but it went ok. use it or lose it, as they say. we will probably ride it more often now.

Yesterday I did Live PHA Supersets No Repeats and then I went to my parents. Didn't sleep well last night, so ended up doing Restorative Yoga. Apps wouldn't open on my Roku so I ended up using the App on my phone. It's one workout where all I need are the instructions.

Carolyn that's wonderful news!

Valerie fantastic that you were able to Mountain Bike again. I'm sure that felt great.

Another medical appointment today, so no workout for me.

Valerie, that’s great that you and your husband were able to mountain bike.

Cathy, great job with Live PHA Supersets No Repeats.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

I have ridden my mt bike quite a few times since spring, but riding around the neighborhood on pavement is not like ridingmuch rougher conditions. DH has done the same. the bikes are heavier and not geared for speed and lightness. the tree farm closes most of october and we didnt ride in montana either because it was way too cold. we can ride the tree farm here most of the year if we want.

Yesterday I went for a 2 mile walk with my husband then I did 40 minutes of Peloton Legs & Glutes. Today I did a 45-minute Peloton Ride and a 45-minute Yin Yoga class.

Carolyn-Great job with KCM’s Power Splits, workout one, upper body

Valerie-Great job with your Mountain bike ride.

Cathy-Great job with Live PHA Supersets No Repeats and Restorative Yoga.

Hi to Diane Sue

Monday no workout. I spent half of my day on the phone. Part of that time was dealing with a new app a utility company set up and me not being able to log in to pay my bill. It seems like I am running into this a lot lately.

Yesterday I did CDorner Halloween Cardio all standing workout, 37 minutes, 246 calories, heart rate 134/160, 4,49 steps. I followed it with CDorner 22 minute barre inspired arms and Jessica Valant No Crunch Abs, with a stretch, 41 minutes. ( I did not separate these as my battery on my watch kept giving me warnings. I did get through it though). Total time 78 minutes, 439 calories. The Barre arms was upper body, endurance with light or no weight. I used 2# like Chris.

Today I did CDorner Step #499 fewer breakdowns, 32 minutes, 181 calories, heart rate 119/147. I should have got extra calories working out with my dog. He wanted to step on the bench too. I then did Jessica Valent scoliosis pilates/stretch skipped the crunches and stopped 11 minutes before finished because my husband was taking me out to eat. This was 37 minutes, 81 calories. Total time 69 minutes, 262 calories.

This morning I did KCM’s Power Splits, workout two, Lower Body. That was 32 minutes, 141 calories burned, average heart rate 125, and maximum heart rate 142.

Judy, great job with the walk, Peloton Legs and Glutes, Peloton ride, and Yin Yoga.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner step workouts, Barre Inspired Arms, and Jessica Vallant workouts.

Hello to Valerie, and Cathy.

Hello ladies!

I am 60 years old now, and I have been doing Cathe workouts since 2003, I think. I noticed that the higher impact HIIT workouts are getting too hard for me, (muscles aching too much!). Is this pretty normal, or am I just a wimp? LOL Actually, I am having to take some workouts out of my rotation. (I'm talking about you Plyo HIIT 1 and 2!) Thinking I should concentrate more on strength training since i was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. It's been coming for a while, but now it's official. Right now I am doing straight cardio three days a week, usually one or two days or circuit training and two days of strength. Does this sound reasonable, or should I add more strength? Thank you for any advice y'all have.

Today I did CDorner Hiit Style Dance Cardio workout that she did today, 44 minutes, 244 calories, heart rate 123/154, 3,568 steps. This was a combo timed workout segments ending with plank with knee drops and side bends. Nothing was real high impact. I then did Jessica Valant Pilates for osteoporosis safe no twists workout, 14 minutes, 36 calories. Total time 58 minutes 280 calories. Things seem to be really busy lately. We are doing some painting garage doors and taking down pictures and doing touch ups. Thinking we will sell our house in a few months if things work out.

Janey B, welcome. You are not a wimp. Paying attention to those things that bother and maybe more recovery for the area along with some changes can help. I am 73 and I have had to slow down a lot over the last few years. No plyo or jumping anymore. I have lowered weights as well and using other methods of strength training. I have osteoarthritis and a recent vertebra fracture along with rheumatoid arthritis. It sure made an impact on doing what I really would like to do. Strength training is usually recommended for the arthritis. I do low impact cardio with it. When I was in my early 60's I was still lifting fairly heavy and doing jumping jacks and impact, but I do remember needing to not do multiple days of high impact on consecutive days. The body seemed to need more recovery time. I really thought that the heavy weights would help build bone but found it is often recommended to not go heavy as it can cause fractures with the lower bone density.

Carolyn, nice work on KCM’s Power Splits, workout 2, Lower Body.

Judy, good job on Tuesday's 2 mile walk with your husband then 40 minutes of Peloton Legs & Glutes, and Wednesday's 45-minute Peloton Ride and a 45-minute Yin Yoga class.

Valerie, it is nice you can ride your bike around the neighborhood, but I know it is not the same as mountain biking. I think the biking idea went out the door when I had the kyphoplasty. My back hurts a lot, and my husband was afraid I would fall or something, so he gave the smaller e bike he bought me to our son.
