Pentagenarians & Beyond: May 11, 2025

Today I did 30 minutes of light upper body work and 20 minutes of lower body foam rolling.

Shannon-Great job with Super Cuts and Core 2. That is a good workout.

Carolyn-Great job with STS 2.0 Chair Yoga. I’m sorry about the unexpected events. It’s hard to do everything that you need to do when you have so much going on.

Valerie-I’m sorry about your husband’s knee. I hope the brace helps. Great job with the road ride.

Hi to Cathy & Diane Sue

I wanted to get some movement in today so did CDorner Low Impact Aerobics and stretch, 35 minutes, 207 calories, heart rate 125/158, 3,345 steps. I changed some of the stretching because she was doing side bends and forward flexion. I added a few bird dogs at the end and other stretches for my legs. I had a nice time with my ladies group Tuesday, and I just rested yesterday since my husband was off. I am trying to be careful what I do for workouts.

Valerie, I do have the SalonPas lidocaine pads. I have used them on my ribs, but since I can't reach my mid back and my husband is gone at night I use sponge tipped applicator for that and put on Aspercreme lidocaine. My doctor didn't know that Aspercreme made a lidocaine cream. It helps a little, but when I try to sleep, it is hard to find a way to be comfortable. It hurts.
I am glad you didn't have a collision with the deer. I bet your heart was thumping big time.

Carolyn, nice job on STS Chair Yoga. It is difficult working around multiple things and getting normal activities done. I hope things are not too difficult for you.

Shannon, good job on Super Cuts with Core #2.

Judy, nice work on 15 minutes of light upper body work and 30 minutes of Yin Yoga.

Good morning, ladies. Yesterday I did Low Impact Sweat. I did the premix that combines Workout 1, 2 and the Blizzard Blast. Today I am going to lift weights on my own.

Carolyn – I’m sorry your schedule has been so hectic. I hope things settle back to normal soon. I hope the PT and OT help your husband, and that the therapists can work out a regular schedule. Good job on fitting in the Chair Yoga despite the craziness.

Valerie – Good work on the road ride. I’m glad your husband is finding ways to ease the pain in his knee, and that your knee is more or less okay for now. You are so lucky to be able to visit Yellowstone so often. It’s an incredible place. That summer back in college was the only time I’ve been. Your comment about the pissed off mama elk brought back another memory. Moose always used to hang out around the dorms. I remember once when a mama moose and her baby were there. I had to go past them to get to work (Canyon Lodge cafeteria), and I was sure hoping mama wouldn’t get too protective. But I guess even though they are wild animals, they are used to seeing humans, especially those who stay around the dorms.

Judy – Good job on staying with the lighter workouts. You’ll get back to normal soon!

Diane – Have you considered wearing a back brace to try and ease your pain? My mom’s compression fracture was of course different from what you’re dealing with. But the brace the doctor gave her really did help to take some of the pressure off her spine. It’s quite restrictive, so you probably couldn’t exercise. But maybe something like that would help your fractures to heal. I’m just so sorry you’re in so much pain.

Cathy – I hope you’re having safe travels and a fun trip, wherever you might be at the moment, LOL!

Shannon we've had adventures with moose too! we always ended up in the Yellowstone area so we bought some land and eventually built a vacation house there. before MT became" the last great place", things were affordable. wish now we'd done it sooner. we have walked past moose who were standing still and didnt notice until we were past them. a mother and calf walked thru our camp site once. mating season ican be more exciting. we had several outside our camper 2 years ago making quite a commotion but it was dark and in a thunderstorm so we didnt get to see much.

Diane sue I will second Shannon on a back brace. I have a couple from before my surgery that are still useful.. if I get a backache they take the load off. I wear them sometimes when I walk. they have a wide metal stay in the back, overlapping velcro in front. Amazon as usual. I dont know if there are suitable braces for higher up the back. mine is lumbar which is the most common. they are comfortable. I dont wear one all the time. the Salonpas need another person to put on. floppy, stick to everything, especially themselves. again, the higher up the harder they would be to put on yourself. my neighbor is having back issues so I took some over to her yesterday. they really helped her.

it was weird with the deer. it happened so fast I never had a reaction at all. no pounding heart, no sudden rush of fear or anxiety. i was pedaling and never interrupted the cycle or had a chance to brake. it was the best possible outcome!. we did the ride again and saw no deer which is the usual.

Today I did KCM’s Power Splits, workout two, which is a lower body weight workout. That was 31 minutes, 148 calories burned, average heart rate 117, and maximum heart rate 155. I will work around my husband’s therapies now that I know what to expect. My ex sister-in-law came by to visit. She and my brother were married over 20 years before getting divorced a few years ago but we are still close. It can be awkward trying to avoid talking about one with the other, but it was great seeing her. She is also a Physical Therapist which is an added bonus.

Judy, great job doing 30 minutes of light upper body and lower body foam rolling.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Low Impact Aerobics and stretch.

Shannon, great job with Low Impact Sweat, the long premix.

Hello to Valerie and Cathy.

Good morning. This is my rest day. It’s raining with some storms so I won‘t be good out this morning. I plan on catching up on household tasks. Have a nice day everyone.
