Pentagenarians & Beyond: August 31, 2025

Carolyn I'm not 100% sure about what I read either. I could be totally wrong but ive read at least two articles about it, and it sounded to me like there would be charges in about a year if you ordered something sent to a different address than your own. these were not long detailed explanations. i have 3 addresses on our prime account, our house, our vacation house and my sister. im not sure ( from what i read) if I can even have things shipped to our own second residence. we seldom do so not a big deal. i regularly ship things to my sister.

rode the trail today for `15 miles and 75 minutes.

Carolyn to me this sounds like a second address is not going to be included in free shipping. your kids if they don't live at the same physical address, friends, etc. this was the AI response but it is what Ive read elsewhere. maybe I'm misreading it but I dont think so. my sister definitely does not live with me. i am not sure if i can set up an account for her because she has no email and no internet service. I have not talked to amazon customer service but between now and oct 1. I thought they are probably catching a lot of flak about this and maybe will modify this change before oct 1. if anyone else knows more about this, I would love to hear it. Bezos must not be making quite enough money as it is. gotta squeeze a little more out.

es, Amazon is changing its Prime sharing policy by ending the Prime Invitee Program on October 1, 2025, which allowed Prime members to share free shipping with non-household members. Starting October 1, this benefit will be restricted to within a household, where members can share a broader range of Prime perks through the Amazon Family structure. Existing invitees will lose access to free shipping but will be notified about how they can now potentially join an Amazon Family household or sign up for their own Prime membership at a discounted rate.

What's changing:
  • Ending the Prime Invitee Program:
On October 1, 2025, the ability for Prime members to share the free shipping benefit with people outside their home will end.

  • Shifting to Household Sharing:
The company is steering members to the Amazon Family structure, which allows for sharing a broader set of Prime benefits within a household.

  • Impact on Invitees:
People who have been sharing a Prime account outside of their household will lose access to the shared Prime delivery benefit.
What's the new way to share?

  • Amazon Family: Prime members can now share a wide range of benefits, including fast, free delivery, Prime Video, and other digital content, with one other adult in their household and up to four children or teens via Amazon Family.
What should you do if you are an Invitee?

Yesterday was a rest day. I took the dog for a walk then husband and I took his vehicle for a recall fix.
Today I did ICE Low Impact Step #2, 30 minutes, 173 calories, heartrate 125/149. I then did Lift Move and Restore bonus low impact cardio, 14 minutes, 103 calories, heart rate 145/167, finished with Lift Move and Restore Functional Mobility Timesaver warm up and basic mobility adding some leg and hip stretches, 22 minutes, 68 calories. Total time was 66 minutes, 344 calories, 2,685 steps. I really thought that there would be more steps than that. I really planned on a total body today, but my chest and ribs hurt bad yesterday and I decided to avoid that area.

Valerie, nice job on getting in a trail ride today. I read that AI response as well. I guess we will see next month. I have the account, and my husband just uses it when he wants something. I am curious how they are going to make this work. What if a family has children in college that uses their account. It seems there should be some ways for family that are not in the home. What about sending gifts to someone else?

Carolyn, I hope you have a nice rest day.

Judy, good job on the 45-minute Peloton Ride and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga, with the focus on upper body. I do a lot of yoga and stretching for upper body. It seems to help.

I found this about shipping gifts on Amazon:

Can you use Amazon Prime to send gifts?

Prime members can still use free shipping to send items to a friend or family member who lives somewhere else, but those friends or family members can no longer get free, fast shipping on their own account without their own Prime membership.

Yes, I'm still out here. LOL Crazy last couple days trying to get everything organized for the trip. Drove to Ironwood to the hotel (far western end of the UP). Was not a fun driving day. Rained on and off and rained during the time that I had wanted to spend hiking in Marquette. Now hoping to do that next Saturday when I go through there on my drive home. Today was much better. Started out with bright sunshine for the first few hours, had a couple little blips of light rain, and then this afternoon drove into about 10 minutes of heavy rain, but that was it. Derek's apartment is tiny and with my stuff added it looks like messy dorm room!

Tomorrow I'm taking him to work and then doing the zoo, Monday morning we head to Winnipeg.

we are traveling to MT tomorrow. We might get a little rain but we expect hazy bad smoky air much of the way there and probably while we are there. fires are the main problem. we would not be going except for maintenance and a change of scenery. its smoky here too now and has been unpleasant for several days already. weather reports are not clear on when this will blow over.

judy thanks for that. unfortunately it still doesn't quite clarify anything. it sounds like they are saying conflicting things. I maybe "free shipping" has always been more complicated than I thought. it sure is not clear from reading it. i dont trust AI to explain it but AI hard to avoid these days.

my sister will not ever have an amazon account! if I cant get free shipping I will stop ordering things for her. you would think a big company would be able to more clearly say what they intend to do.

we use Amazon a lot, not so much because we like to, but because stores dont have anything on the shelf any more and if they do its locked in glass cabinets.
